Mark 8
1 In those days, there being again a great multitude, and they having nothing to eat, he called the disciples to him, and saith to them,
En ces jours-là, comme il y avait de nouveau avec Jésus une grande multitude, qui n'avait rien à manger, il appela les disciples et leur dit:
2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have remained with me now three days, and they have nothing to eat.
J'ai compassion de cette multitude de gens car il y a déjà trois jours qu'ils ne me quittent pas, et ils n'ont rien à manger.
3 And if I send them away fasting to their houses, they will faint on the road; and some of them have come from altar.
Si je les renvoie à jeun dans leurs demeures, les forces leur manqueront en chemin; car quelques-uns sont venus de loin.
4 And his disciples answered him, Whence can ally one satisfy these men with bread here in a wilderness?
Ses disciples répondirent: Où pourrait-on, dans ce désert, trouver des pains pour les rassasier?
5 And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
Il leur demanda: Combien avez-vous de pains? Ils dirent: Sept.
6 And he ordered the multitude to lie down on the ground; and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and broke, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they set them before the multitude.
Alors il commanda à la foule de s'asseoir à terre; puis il prit les sept pains, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il les rompit et les donna à ses disciples pour les distribuer; et ils les distribuèrent à la foule.
7 And they had a few small fishes; and having blessed them, he set them before them.
Ils avaient aussi quelques petits poissons; Jésus après avoir rendu grâces, les fit aussi distribuer.
8 And they ate, and were filled; and they took up of the fragments that remained, seven baskets.
Tous mangèrent et furent rassasiés; et on emporta sept corbeilles pleines des morceaux qui restaient.
9 And they were about four thousand; and he sent them away.
Or, ils étaient environ quatre mille. Jésus les renvoya;
10 And immediately going on board the boat with his disciples, he came into the region of Dalmanutha.
et, aussitôt après, étant entré dans la barque avec ses disciples, il alla dans le pays de Dalmanutha.
11 And the Pharisees came out, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, trying him.
Alors survinrent des pharisiens, qui se mirent à disputer avec lui, et ils lui demandèrent, pour le mettre à l'épreuve, un miracle venant du ciel.
12 And sighing deeply in his spirit, he saith, Why doth this generation seek for a sign? Truly do I say to you, A sign will not he given to this generation.
Jésus, soupirant en son esprit, dit: Pourquoi cette génération demande-t-elle un miracle? En vérité, je vous le déclare, il ne lui en sera donné aucun.
13 And leaving them, he again went on board and crossed to the other side.
Et, les ayant laissés, il rentra dans la barque et passa à l'autre bord.
14 And they had forgotten to take bread, and had not in the boat with them more than one loaf.
Or, les disciples avaient oublié de prendre des pains; ils n'en avaient qu'un seul avec eux dans la barque.
15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and the leaven of Herod.
Jésus leur fit cette recommandation: Gardez-vous avec soin du levain des pharisiens et du levain d'Hérode.
16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.
Ils se disaient entre eux: C'est parce que nous n'avons pas de pains!
17 And knowing it, he saith to them, Why are ye reasoning, because ye have no bread? Do ye not yet perceive nor understand? Have ye your mind still blinded?
Mais Jésus, s'en étant aperçu, leur dit: Pourquoi vous dites- vous: c'est parce que nous n'avons pas de pains? N'entendez-vous pas et ne comprenez-vous pas encore? Avez-vous toujours un coeur endurci?
18 Having eyes, do ye not see? and having ears, do ye not hear? And do ye not remember,
Vous avez des yeux, et vous ne voyez pas! Vous avez des oreilles, et, vous n'entendez point! N'avez-vous donc pas de mémoire?
19 when I broke the five loaves among the five thousand, and how many baskets full of fragments ye took up? They say to him, Twelve.
Lorsque j'ai rompu les cinq pains pour les cinq mille hommes, combien avez-vous emporté de paniers pleins de morceaux? Ils lui répondirent Douze.
20 When also the seven among the four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did ye take up? And they say, Seven.
Et lorsque j'ai rompu les sept pains pour les quatre mille hommes, combien avez-vous emporté de corbeilles pleines de morceaux? Ils lui répondirent: Sept.
21 And he said to them, Do ye not yet understand?
Puis il leur dit N'avez-vous pas encore compris?
22 And they come to Bethsaida. And they bring to him a blind man, and beseech him to touch him.
Ils allèrent ensuite à Bethsaïda. On amena à Jésus un aveugle, et on le pria de le toucher.
23 And taking the blind man by the hand, he led him out of the village; and spitting on his eyes, and putting his hands on him, he asked him if he saw anything.
Alors il prit l'aveugle par la main, et, l'ayant conduit hors du village, il lui mit de la salive sur les yeux, lui imposa les mains, et lui demanda s'il voyait quelque chose.
24 And he looked up, and said, I can see men, for I see them as trees, walking.
L'aveugle, ayant regardé, dit: J'aperçois des hommes qui marchent, pareils à des arbres.
25 Then he again put his hands on his eyes, and he saw clearly, and was restored, and saw all things distinctly.
Ensuite Jésus lui mit de nouveau les mains sur les yeux. L'aveugle regarda; il fut guéri, et il voyait tout distinctement.
26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Go not into the village.
Jésus le renvoya dans sa maison et lui dit: Ne rentre pas dans le village.
27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way he asked his disciples, saying to them, Who do men say that I am?
Jésus, étant parti de là avec ses disciples, vint dans les villages voisins de Césarée de Philippe. Chemin faisant, il demanda à ses disciples: Qui dit-on, parmi les hommes, que je suis?
28 And they answered him, saying, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and others, One of the prophets.
Ils répondirent: Les uns disent: Jean-Baptiste; d'autres, Elie; et d'autres, l'un des prophètes.
29 And he asked them, But who do ye say that I am? Peter answering saith to him, Thou art the Christ.
Il leur dit: Mais vous, qui dites-vous que je suis? Pierre lui répondit: Tu es le Christ!
30 And he strictly charged them to tell no one concerning him.
Et Jésus leur défendit sévèrement de dire cela de lui à personne.
31 And he began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be put to death, and after three days rise again;
Alors il commença à leur enseigner qu'il fallait que le fils de l'homme souffrît beaucoup, qu'il fût rejeté par les anciens, par les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes, qu'il fût mis à mort, et qu'il ressuscitât trois jours après.
32 and he told them this plainly. And Peter, taking him aside, began to rebuke him.
Il leur en parlait ouvertement. Pierre, l'ayant pris à part, se mit à lui faire des remontrances.
33 But he turning about and looking at his disciples, rebuked Peter, and saith, Get thee behind me, Satan! for thy thoughts are not on the things of God, but on those of men.
Mais Jésus, se retournant et regardant ses disciples, censura Pierre et lui dit: Arrière de moi, Satan! Car tes pensées ne viennent pas de Dieu! Tu penses comme les hommes!
34 And calling the multitude to him with his disciples also, he said to them, Whoever chooseth to follow me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Puis, ayant appelé le peuple avec ses disciples, il leur dit: Si quelqu'un veut venir après moi, qu'il renonce à lui- même, qu'il se charge de sa croix et qu'il me suive.
35 For whoever chooseth to save his life, will lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for the sake of me and of the glad tidings, will save it.
Car celui qui voudra sauver sa vie la perdra; mais celui qui perdra sa vie à cause de moi et de l'Évangile, la sauvera.
36 For what doth it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?
Et que servirait-il à un homme de gagner le monde entier, s'il perdait son âme?
37 For what can a man give as an exchange for his life?
Ou bien, que donnerait l'homme en échange de son âme?
38 For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will also the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Car si quelqu'un a honte de moi et de mes paroles, au milieu de cette génération adultère et pécheresse, le Fils de l'homme aura aussi honte de lui, lorsqu'il viendra dans la gloire de son Père avec les saints anges.
