Mark 5
1 And they came to the other side of the lake, into the country of the Gerasenes.
Eles chegaram à região de Gerasa, no outro lado do lago.
2 And when he had come out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
Quando Jesus saiu do barco, um homem possuído por um espírito mau saiu do cemitério para encontrá-lo.
3 who had his dwelling in the tombs; and not even with a chain could any one bind him any longer;
Esse homem morava entre os túmulos e era impossível prendê-lo mesmo com correntes.
4 because he had often been bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been snapped asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces; and no one could master him;
Várias vezes o prenderam com correntes e algemas, mas ele simplesmente arrebentava as correntes e quebrava as algemas em pedaços. Ninguém tinha força para dominá-lo.
5 and continually, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself, with stones.
Ele passava dias e noites gritando entre os túmulos e nas colinas próximas, cortando-se com pedras pontiagudas.
6 And seeing Jesus afar off, he ran and bowed down before him,
Ao ver Jesus de longe, ele correu e se ajoelhou diante dele.
7 and cried out with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, do not torment me.
Ele gritou: “O que você quer de mim, Jesus, Filho do Deus Todo-Poderoso? Jure por Deus que não irá me torturar!”
8 For he was saying to him, Unclean spirit, come out from the man.
Ele disse isso porque Jesus já havia falado para o espírito mau deixá-lo.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith to him, Legion is my name; for we are many.
Então, Jesus lhe perguntou: “Qual é o seu nome?” Ele respondeu: “Meu nome é Legião, pois somos muitos.”
10 And he besought him much not to send them out of the country.
Ele também implorou, insistentemente, para que Jesus não os mandasse para longe.
11 Now there was there, by the mountain, a great herd of swine feeding.
Um grande rebanho de porcos se alimentava na encosta próxima.
12 And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
Os espíritos maus imploraram a Jesus: “Mande-nos para aqueles porcos, para que possamos entrar neles.”
13 And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits coming out, entered into the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep into the lake, about two thousand, and were drowned in the lake.
Jesus permitiu que eles fizessem o que pediram. Os espíritos maus saíram do homem e entraram nos porcos. Todo o rebanho, cerca de dois mil porcos, se atirou penhasco abaixo, caiu no mar e se afogou.
14 And they that fed them fled, and told the news in the city and in the country. And they came to see what had been done.
Os homens que tomavam conta dos porcos fugiram e espalharam a notícia por toda a cidade e também pelos campos. As pessoas vieram para ver o que havia acontecido.
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him who had been possessed by demons, sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, —him who had had the legion; and they were afraid.
Quando elas encontraram Jesus, viram o homem que tinha sido possuído pela legião de espíritos maus sentado ali, vestido e em seu juízo perfeito. As pessoas ficaram assustadas com aquilo.
16 And they who saw it told them how it befell him that was possessed by the demons, and concerning the swine.
Então, aqueles que viram o que havia acontecido com o homem e com os porcos contaram aos outros.
17 And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders.
Eles começaram a implorar para que Jesus saísse daquele distrito.
18 And when he was going on board the boat, he that had been possessed by the demons besought him that be might be with him.
Quando Jesus entrou no barco, o homem que tinha sido possuído pela legião de demônios pediu para ir com ele.
19 And he did not permit him, but said to him, Go to thy house to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and that he hath had compassion on thee.
Mas Jesus recusou, dizendo: “Vá para casa e conte para a sua família o que o Senhor lhe fez e como foi bom para você.”
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him; and all wondered.
Então, o homem foi embora e começou a falar para as pessoas das Dez Cidades tudo o que Jesus tinha feito por ele, e todos ficaram maravilhados.
21 And when Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the ether side, a great multitude gathered about him; and he was by the lake.
Jesus voltou, de barco, para o outro lado do lago, onde já havia uma grande multidão, aguardando-o na praia.
22 And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and seeing him, he fell at his feet,
Um líder da sinagoga, chamado Jairo, aproximou-se de Jesus. Ao vê-lo, Jairo caiu aos seus pés
23 and besought him much, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death; I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be saved and live.
e implorou, dizendo: “Minha filhinha está quase morrendo. Por favor, venha e coloque suas mãos sobre ela para que possa ser curada e fique viva.”
24 And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and pressed upon him.
Então, Jesus foi com ele. Todos o seguiram, apertando-o e empurrando-o.
25 And a woman, who had had an issue of blood twelve years,
Uma mulher que se encontrava lá estava doente há doze anos, por causa de uma hemorragia que não parava.
26 and had undergone much at the hands of many physicians, and spent all that she had, and was not at all benefited, but rather grew worse,
Ela sofreu muito sob os cuidados de vários médicos e já havia gastado todas as suas economias. Mas, ela não melhorou de sua doença. Na verdade, ela havia até mesmo piorado.
27 having heard about Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment.
Ela ouvira falar sobre Jesus, então, veio por trás dele, abrindo caminho entre a multidão e tocou a sua capa.
28 For she said, If I touch even his garments, I shall be made well.
Ela disse a si mesma: “Se eu conseguir tocar, mesmo que seja em sua capa, ficarei curada.”
29 And immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she perceived in her body that she was cured of her plague.
A hemorragia parou imediatamente, e ela sentiu o seu corpo curado da doença.
30 And Jesus immediately perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, turned round in the crowed, and said, Who touched my garments?
Jesus sentiu, no mesmo instante, que dele havia saído poder. Então, se virou e perguntou: “Quem tocou na minha capa?”
31 And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the multitude pressing on thee, and dost thou say, Who touched me?
Os discípulos responderam: “Veja esta multidão apertando-o! O que quer dizer com: ‘Quem tocou na minha capa?’”
32 And he looked round to see her who had done this.
Jesus ficou olhando em volta, para ver quem o havia tocado.
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
A mulher, percebendo o que havia acontecido, veio, se ajoelhou diante dele e lhe disse toda a verdade.
34 And he said to her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee well; go in peace, and be recovered from thy plague.
Jesus lhe disse: “Minha filha, você foi curada porque teve fé em mim. Vá em paz. Você está curada da sua doença.”
35 While he was yet speaking, there came from the house I of the ruler of the synagogue some who said, Thy daughter is dead; why dost thou trouble the Teacher any further?
Enquanto ele ainda estava falando, algumas pessoas vieram da casa do líder da sinagoga. Eles disseram ao líder: “A sua filha morreu. Você não precisa mais incomodar o Mestre.”
36 And Jesus, overhearing those words, saith to the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not; only believe.
Jesus não deu atenção ao que eles disseram. Ele falou ao líder da sinagoga: “Não tenha medo, apenas confie em mim.”
37 And he suffered no one to follow him except Peter and James, and John the brother of James.
Ele deixou apenas que Pedro, Tiago e seu irmão, João, fossem com ele.
38 And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he seeth a tumult, and people weeping and wailing greatly.
Quando eles chegaram à casa do líder da sinagoga, Jesus viu todo o tumulto que havia ali. As pessoas choravam e lamentavam.
39 And going in, he saith to them, Why do ye make this confusion and weeping? The child is not dead, but is sleeping.
Ele entrou e lhes perguntou: “Por que vocês estão fazendo tanto tumulto com toda esta choradeira? A garotinha não está morta; ela está apenas dormindo.”
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But putting them all out, he taketh the father of the child, and the mother, and those who were with him, and entereth where the child was.
As pessoas riram, zombando dele. Jesus fez com que todos saíssem. Então, ele entrou no quarto em que a menina estava, levando com ele o pai e a mãe da criança, além dos três discípulos.
41 And taking hold of the hand of the child, he saith to her, Talitha, kum; which is, when interpreted, Damsel, I say to thee, arise!
Pegando a mão da menina, ele disse: “Talitha koum”, que significa, “Garotinha, levante-se!”
42 And immediately the damsel arose and walked; for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were greatly astonished.
A menina, que tinha doze anos de idade, levantou-se imediatamente e começou a caminhar. Eles ficaram completamente surpresos com o que acontecera.
43 And he charged them strictly that no one should know it, and bade that something should be given her to eat.
Jesus, então, lhes ordenou para que não contassem a ninguém sobre a cura e que dessem algo para a menina comer.
