Mark 5
1 And they came to the other side of the lake, into the country of the Gerasenes.
Gdy przybyli na drugi brzeg jeziora, do krainy Gerazeńczyków,
2 And when he had come out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
i gdy Jezus wysiadł z łodzi, z pobliskiego cmentarza przybiegł człowiek opanowany przez nieczyste duchy.
3 who had his dwelling in the tombs; and not even with a chain could any one bind him any longer;
Mężczyzna ten mieszkał w grobowcach i był tak silny, że gdy zakuwano jego ręce i nogi w kajdany
4 because he had often been bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been snapped asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces; and no one could master him;
—co zdarzało się bardzo często—rozrywał je i uciekał. Nikt też nie miał dość siły, żeby go obezwładnić.
5 and continually, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself, with stones.
Dniami i nocami błąkał się wśród grobów i wzgórz, krzycząc i kalecząc się ostrymi kamieniami.
6 And seeing Jesus afar off, he ran and bowed down before him,
Gdy z daleka zobaczył Jezusa, przybiegł, padł przez Nim na twarz
7 and cried out with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, do not torment me.
i głośno krzyknął: —Czego ode mnie chcesz, Jezusie, Synu Najwyższego Boga? Błagam, nie męcz mnie!
8 For he was saying to him, Unclean spirit, come out from the man.
Jezus zwrócił się do demona: —Wyjdź z niego, duchu nieczysty!
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith to him, Legion is my name; for we are many.
Zapytał też go: —Jak ci na imię? —Legion, bo jest nas wielu w tym człowieku—odrzekł.
10 And he besought him much not to send them out of the country.
I błagały Go demony, żeby ich nie wyrzucał z tamtej okolicy.
11 Now there was there, by the mountain, a great herd of swine feeding.
A na pobliskim wzgórzu, nad jeziorem, pasło się właśnie wielkie stado świń.
12 And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
—Pozwól nam wejść w te świnie—prosiły.
13 And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits coming out, entered into the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep into the lake, about two thousand, and were drowned in the lake.
A gdy Jezus zgodził się, złe duchy opuściły człowieka i weszły w świnie, po czym całe stado, liczące około dwa tysiące sztuk, rzuciło się pędem ze stromego zbocza wprost do jeziora i utonęło.
14 And they that fed them fled, and told the news in the city and in the country. And they came to see what had been done.
Pasterze stada uciekli wtedy do pobliskiego miasta i okolicznych wiosek, opowiadając wszystkim o tym, co się stało. Ludzie wyszli z domów, aby zobaczyć, co się dzieje,
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him who had been possessed by demons, sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, —him who had had the legion; and they were afraid.
i wkrótce wokół Jezusa zgromadził się spory tłum. A gdy dostrzegli szaleńca, który siedział teraz ubrany, spokojny i w pełni władz umysłowych, przestraszyli się.
16 And they who saw it told them how it befell him that was possessed by the demons, and concerning the swine.
Naoczni świadkowie opowiedzieli przybyłym o wszystkim, co się wydarzyło.
17 And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders.
Wówczas tłum zaczął błagać Jezusa, żeby opuścił ich okolicę.
18 And when he was going on board the boat, he that had been possessed by the demons besought him that be might be with him.
Jezus wszedł więc do łodzi, a wtedy uzdrowiony zapytał Go, czy może z Nim pozostać.
19 And he did not permit him, but said to him, Go to thy house to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and that he hath had compassion on thee.
Jezus jednak odmówił: —Wracaj do domu, do swoich krewnych—powiedział—i opowiedz im, co zrobił dla ciebie Pan i jak wielkie okazał ci miłosierdzie.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him; and all wondered.
Poszedł więc i opowiadał w Dekapolu o tym, co Jezus dla niego uczynił; a ludzie słuchali go pełni zdumienia.
21 And when Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the ether side, a great multitude gathered about him; and he was by the lake.
Gdy Jezus przeprawił się na drugą stronę jeziora, na brzegu czekał na Niego wielki tłum.
22 And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and seeing him, he fell at his feet,
Był tam także Jair, przełożony miejscowej synagogi, który padł przed Jezusem na twarz i błagał o uzdrowienie swojej córeczki.
23 and besought him much, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death; I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be saved and live.
—Jest umierająca—mówił zrozpaczony. —Proszę, połóż na nią ręce i przywróć ją do życia!
24 And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and pressed upon him.
Jezus poszedł więc z Jairem, a za nim—wielki tłum ludzi.
25 And a woman, who had had an issue of blood twelve years,
Wśród nich znajdowała się kobieta, która od dwunastu lat cierpiała na krwotok.
26 and had undergone much at the hands of many physicians, and spent all that she had, and was not at all benefited, but rather grew worse,
Lekarze zadali jej wiele cierpień, ale choć wydała na nich wszystkie pieniądze, nie było poprawy—przeciwnie, jej stan się pogorszył.
27 having heard about Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment.
Gdy więc usłyszała o nadzwyczajnych cudach Jezusa, przecisnęła się przez tłum i dotknęła z tyłu Jego ubrania.
28 For she said, If I touch even his garments, I shall be made well.
Myślała bowiem: „Jeśli tylko dotknę Jego płaszcza, zostanę uzdrowiona”.
29 And immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she perceived in her body that she was cured of her plague.
Gdy Go dotknęła, krwotok natychmiast ustał i poczuła, że jest już zdrowa.
30 And Jesus immediately perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, turned round in the crowed, and said, Who touched my garments?
Jezus od razu zorientował się, że wyszła z Niego uzdrawiająca moc. Odwrócił się więc do tłumu i zapytał: —Kto dotknął mojego płaszcza?
31 And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the multitude pressing on thee, and dost thou say, Who touched me?
Na to Jego uczniowie odpowiedzieli: —Mnóstwo ludzi tłoczy się wokół Ciebie, a Ty pytasz, kto Cię dotknął?
32 And he looked round to see her who had done this.
Lecz On nadal rozglądał się za tym, kto to zrobił.
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
Wówczas kobieta, będąc ciągle pod wrażeniem tego, co zaszło, drżąc ze strachu, upadła Mu do nóg i przyznała się do wszystkiego.
34 And he said to her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee well; go in peace, and be recovered from thy plague.
—Córko! Uwierzyłaś, więc zostałaś uzdrowiona. Idź w pokoju i ciesz się zdrowiem!—odrzekł jej Jezus.
35 While he was yet speaking, there came from the house I of the ruler of the synagogue some who said, Thy daughter is dead; why dost thou trouble the Teacher any further?
A gdy jeszcze z nią rozmawiał, przybyli posłańcy z domu Jaira z wiadomością, że jego córka umarła i nie ma już po co fatygować Jezusa.
36 And Jesus, overhearing those words, saith to the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not; only believe.
Lecz Jezus, nie zważając na to, co mówią, rzekł do Jaira: —Uwierz Mi i niczego się nie bój!
37 And he suffered no one to follow him except Peter and James, and John the brother of James.
Powstrzymał idący tłum i udał się do jego domu, biorąc ze sobą tylko Piotra, Jakuba i Jana.
38 And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he seeth a tumult, and people weeping and wailing greatly.
Panowało tam zamieszanie, słychać było płacz i zawodzenie.
39 And going in, he saith to them, Why do ye make this confusion and weeping? The child is not dead, but is sleeping.
Jezus wszedł do środka i rzekł: —Po co ten lament i popłoch? Dziecko przecież nie umarło, tylko śpi!
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But putting them all out, he taketh the father of the child, and the mother, and those who were with him, and entereth where the child was.
Słysząc to, wyśmiewali Go. Lecz On rozkazał, by wszyscy wyszli, a sam z trzema uczniami oraz ojcem i matką dziewczynki wszedł do pokoju, gdzie leżała.
41 And taking hold of the hand of the child, he saith to her, Talitha, kum; which is, when interpreted, Damsel, I say to thee, arise!
Wziął ją za rękę i powiedział: —Talitha kum! (co znaczy: „Dziewczynko, mówię ci: Wstań!”).
42 And immediately the damsel arose and walked; for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were greatly astonished.
Ona natychmiast wstała z łóżka i zaczęła biegać, miała bowiem dwanaście lat. Rodzice oniemieli.
43 And he charged them strictly that no one should know it, and bade that something should be given her to eat.
Jezus zaś surowo im przykazał, aby nikomu nie mówili o tym wydarzeniu, i polecił, by dano jej coś do jedzenia.
