< Mark 5 >
1 And they came to the other side of the lake, into the country of the Gerasenes.
Bawela ichibi bafika emangweni wamaGerazini.
2 And when he had come out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
Kwathi uJesu ephuma esikepeni, kwaqhamuka indoda elomoya omubi ivela emathuneni yamhlangabeza.
3 who had his dwelling in the tombs; and not even with a chain could any one bind him any longer;
Indoda le yayihlala emathuneni, kungaselamuntu ongayibopha loba langeketane.
4 because he had often been bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been snapped asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces; and no one could master him;
Ngoba yayihlezi ibotshiwe izandla lenyawo, kodwa iqamule amaketane lezinsimbi ezinyaweni zayo. Kwakungekho muntu owayelamandla okuyinqoba.
5 and continually, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself, with stones.
Ubusuku lemini yayihlaba umkhosi isemathuneni lasezintabeni, izisike ngamatshe.
6 And seeing Jesus afar off, he ran and bowed down before him,
Yathi ibona uJesu esesebucwala, yagijima yafika yazilahla phansi ngamadolo phambi kwakhe.
7 and cried out with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, do not torment me.
Yaklabalala ngelizwi elikhulu yathi, “Ufunani ngami, Jesu, Ndodana kaNkulunkulu oPhezukonke? Ngegama likaNkulunkulu ungangihlukuluzi!”
8 For he was saying to him, Unclean spirit, come out from the man.
Ngoba uJesu wayesethe kuyo, “Phuma kuyo indoda le, wena moya omubi!”
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith to him, Legion is my name; for we are many.
UJesu waseyibuza wathi, “Ungubani ibizo lakho?” Yaphendula yathi, “Ibizo lami nguLigiyoni, ngoba sibanengi.”
10 And he besought him much not to send them out of the country.
Yamncenga uJesu futhifuthi ukuthi angabaxotshi kulowomango.
11 Now there was there, by the mountain, a great herd of swine feeding.
Umhlambi omkhulu wengulube wawusidla ewatheni lwentaba eduzane.
12 And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
Amadimoni amncenga uJesu athi, “Sithumele ezingulubeni; sivumele singene kuzo.”
13 And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits coming out, entered into the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep into the lake, about two thousand, and were drowned in the lake.
Wawavumela, omoya ababi baphuma bayangena ezingulubeni. Umhlambi wazo, owawungaba zinkulungwane ezimbili, wagijima usehlela eliweni lodonga wangena echibini wagalula.
14 And they that fed them fled, and told the news in the city and in the country. And they came to see what had been done.
Labo ababezelusile babaleka bayabika lokho edolobheni kanye lasemaphandleni, yikho abantu baqubuka bayabona lokho okwakwenzakele.
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him who had been possessed by demons, sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, —him who had had the legion; and they were afraid.
Bathi befika kuJesu bayibona indoda eyayikade ilamadimoni ngobunengi bawo, ihlezi khonapho, igqokile njalo ingqondo isibuyile, besaba kakhulu.
16 And they who saw it told them how it befell him that was possessed by the demons, and concerning the swine.
Labo ababekubonile kusenzakala batshela abantu okwenzakalayo endodeni eyayilamadimoni, balandisa njalo langezingulube.
17 And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders.
Abantu basebemncenga uJesu ukuthi asuke emangweni wakibo.
18 And when he was going on board the boat, he that had been possessed by the demons besought him that be might be with him.
Kwathi uJesu esengena esikepeni indoda leyo eyayikade ilamadimoni yamncenga ukuthi ahambe layo.
19 And he did not permit him, but said to him, Go to thy house to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and that he hath had compassion on thee.
UJesu kayivumelanga, kodwa wathi kuyo, “Hamba ekhaya kwabakini ubatshele ukuba iNkosi ikwenzele okunganani, lokuthi ibe lesihawu kuwe.”
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him; and all wondered.
Ngakho indoda yasihamba yabatshela eDekhapholisi konke uJesu ayeyenzele khona. Bonke abantu bamangala.
21 And when Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the ether side, a great multitude gathered about him; and he was by the lake.
Kwathi lapho uJesu esewele njalo ngesikepe waya ngakuleliyana iphetsheya lechibi, kwabuthana kuye ixuku elikhulu ekhonapho eceleni kwechibi.
22 And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and seeing him, he fell at his feet,
Kwasekufika omunye wabaphathi besinagogu okwakuthiwa nguJayirosi, wathi ebona uJesu wazilahla ezinyaweni zakhe.
23 and besought him much, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death; I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be saved and live.
Wamncenga kakhulu wathi, “Indodakazi yami encinyane iyafa. Ngicela ubuye uzobeka izandla zakho phezu kwayo ukuze isile njalo iphile.”
24 And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and pressed upon him.
UJesu wahamba laye. Ixuku elikhulu lamlandela laminyezela.
25 And a woman, who had had an issue of blood twelve years,
Kwakulowesifazane khonapho owayephethwe yikopha sekumhluphe iminyaka elitshumi lambili.
26 and had undergone much at the hands of many physicians, and spent all that she had, and was not at all benefited, but rather grew worse,
Wayesehlupheke kakhulu loba wayeselatshwa ngabelaphi, njalo esechithe konke ayelakho, kodwa ekubeni abe ngcono kwakusiya phambili.
27 having heard about Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment.
Wathi esezwile ngoJesu, weza ngemva kwakhe phakathi kwexuku labantu wabamba isembatho sakhe,
28 For she said, If I touch even his garments, I shall be made well.
ngoba wacabanga wathi, “Nxa ngingathinta izigqoko zakhe kodwa nje, ngizasila.”
29 And immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she perceived in her body that she was cured of her plague.
Masinyane nje ukopha kwakhe kwaphela njalo wezwa emzimbeni wakhe ukuthi wayesekhululekile ekuhluphekeni kwakhe.
30 And Jesus immediately perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, turned round in the crowed, and said, Who touched my garments?
Khonokho uJesu wananzelela ukuthi amandla ayephumile kuye. Waphendukela exukwini labantu wabuza wathi, “Ngubani othinte izigqoko zami?”
31 And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the multitude pressing on thee, and dost thou say, Who touched me?
Abafundi bakhe bamphendula bathi, “Lawe uyababona abantu beminyezelana kuwe, kodwa uyabuza uthi, ‘Ngubani ongithintileyo?’”
32 And he looked round to see her who had done this.
Kodwa uJesu wala elokhu ethalaza ukuze abone ukuthi ngubani okwenzileyo lokho.
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
Ngakho owesifazane owayekwazi okwasekwenzakele kuye weza wazilahla ezinyaweni zakhe eqhaqhazela ngokwesaba wahle wafakaza iqiniso.
34 And he said to her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee well; go in peace, and be recovered from thy plague.
Wathi kowesifazane, “Ndodakazi, ukholo lwakho lukusilisile. Hamba ngokuthula ukhululeke ekuhluphekeni kwakho.”
35 While he was yet speaking, there came from the house I of the ruler of the synagogue some who said, Thy daughter is dead; why dost thou trouble the Teacher any further?
UJesu elokhu esakhuluma kweza amanye amadoda ephuma endlini kaJayirasi, umphathi wesinagogu. Athi, “Indodakazi yakho isifile. Kambe usamhluphelani umfundisi na?”
36 And Jesus, overhearing those words, saith to the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not; only believe.
Akaze akunaka lokho ababekutsho uJesu, wasetshela induna yesinagogu wathi, “Ungesabi, kholwa nje kuphela.”
37 And he suffered no one to follow him except Peter and James, and John the brother of James.
Kavumelanga muntu ukuba amlandele ngaphandle kukaPhethro, loJakhobe loJohane umfowabo kaJakhobe.
38 And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he seeth a tumult, and people weeping and wailing greatly.
Bathi befika emzini wenduna yesinagogu uJesu wabona isiphithiphithi abantu bekhala benqongoloza.
39 And going in, he saith to them, Why do ye make this confusion and weeping? The child is not dead, but is sleeping.
Wangena wathi kubo, “Ngesani isiphithiphithi sonke lesi lomkhosi wonke lo? Umntwana kafanga, kodwa ulele.”
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But putting them all out, he taketh the father of the child, and the mother, and those who were with him, and entereth where the child was.
Kodwa bamhleka usulu. Esebakhuphele phandle bonke wathatha uyise womntwana lonina kanye labafundi ayelabo wangena lapho umntwana ayekhona.
41 And taking hold of the hand of the child, he saith to her, Talitha, kum; which is, when interpreted, Damsel, I say to thee, arise!
Wambamba ngesandla wathi kuye, “Thalitha khumi!” (okutsho ukuthi, “Ntombazana, ngithi kuwe, sukuma!”)
42 And immediately the damsel arose and walked; for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were greatly astonished.
Masinyane intombazana yasukuma yahambahamba (wayemdala okweminyaka elitshumi lambili). Lokhu kwabamangalisa baphela amandla.
43 And he charged them strictly that no one should know it, and bade that something should be given her to eat.
Wabaqonqosela wathi bangazisi muntu ngalokho, wasesithi kabamuphe ukudla untombazana.
