Mark 5
1 And they came to the other side of the lake, into the country of the Gerasenes.
| בהגיעם אל הגדה השנייה של הכינרת ירד ישוע מהסירה, והנה רץ לקראתו מכיוון בית־הקברות איש אחוז רוח רעה. |
2 And when he had come out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
3 who had his dwelling in the tombs; and not even with a chain could any one bind him any longer;
| איש זה גר בבית־הקברות והיה בעל כוח פיזי אדיר. בכל פעם שאסרו אותו בכבלים ושרשרות הוא היה מנתק אותם בקלות ויוצא לחופשי. איש לא היה יכול להתגבר עליו. |
4 because he had often been bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been snapped asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces; and no one could master him;
5 and continually, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself, with stones.
| יומם ולילה נהג להסתובב כמשוגע בין הקברים ועל ההרים, צועק ופוצע את עצמו באבנים חדות. |
6 And seeing Jesus afar off, he ran and bowed down before him,
| בראותו את ישוע מרחוק, רץ האיש לקראתו ונפל לרגליו. |
7 and cried out with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, do not torment me.
| ישוע פקד על השד שבתוך האיש:”צא החוצה, שד!“השד צעק צעקה מחרידה:”מה אתה עומד לעשות לי, ישוע בן אל־עליון? למען אלוהים, אל תייסר אותי!“ |
8 For he was saying to him, Unclean spirit, come out from the man.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith to him, Legion is my name; for we are many.
| ”מה שמך?“שאל ישוע.”לגיון“, השיב השד.”אינני לבדי; אנחנו כאן שדים רבים.“ |
10 And he besought him much not to send them out of the country.
| השדים התחננו לפני ישוע שלא ישלח אותם למקום נידח. |
11 Now there was there, by the mountain, a great herd of swine feeding.
| בקרבת המקום היה עדר גדול של חזירים שרעה במורד ההרים. |
12 And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
| ”שלח אותנו לתוך החזירים האלה“, התחננו השדים. |
13 And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits coming out, entered into the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep into the lake, about two thousand, and were drowned in the lake.
| ישוע הסכים, והם יצאו מהאיש ונכנסו לתוך החזירים. כל החזירים (בערך אלפיים) דהרו בטירוף במורד ההר ישר לתוך הים וטבעו. |
14 And they that fed them fled, and told the news in the city and in the country. And they came to see what had been done.
| רועי החזירים ברחו לערים ולכפרים שבסביבה, וסיפרו לכולם מה שקרה. כל האנשים רצו מיד אל המקום כדי לראות את המחזה במו עיניהם. |
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him who had been possessed by demons, sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, —him who had had the legion; and they were afraid.
| עד מהרה התאספו אנשים רבים ליד ישוע, אולם כשראו את האיש יושב לרגלי ישוע לבוש היטב ושפוי בדעתו, נמלאו פחד. |
16 And they who saw it told them how it befell him that was possessed by the demons, and concerning the swine.
| עדי ראייה סיפרו לבאים מה שהתרחש, |
17 And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders.
| והאנשים התחננו לפני ישוע שילך משם ויעזוב אותם לנפשם. |
18 And when he was going on board the boat, he that had been possessed by the demons besought him that be might be with him.
| כשחזר ישוע לסירה התחנן לפניו האיש שיצאו ממנו השדים שירשה לו להצטרף אליו. |
19 And he did not permit him, but said to him, Go to thy house to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and that he hath had compassion on thee.
| אולם ישוע לא הסכים לכך.”לך הביתה למשפחתך ולחבריך“, אמר ישוע.”ספר להם כיצד ריחם עליך אלוהים, ואיזה נס חולל בך.“ |
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him; and all wondered.
| האיש הלך לבקר בעשר הערים הגדולות וסיפר לאנשים על הפלא הגדול שחולל ישוע, וכולם התפלאו מאוד. |
21 And when Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the ether side, a great multitude gathered about him; and he was by the lake.
| ישוע חצה בסירתו את הכינרת והגיע אל הגדה שממול, שם כבר חיכה לו קהל רב. |
22 And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and seeing him, he fell at his feet,
| אחד מראשי בית־הכנסת המקומי, יאיר שמו, נפל לפני ישוע |
23 and besought him much, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death; I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be saved and live.
| והתחנן בפניו שירפא את בתו הקטנה.”בתי גוססת“, קרא יאיר בייאוש.”אנא, בוא לביתי ושים את ידיך עליה, כדי שתבריא ותחיה.“ |
24 And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and pressed upon him.
| ישוע הלך עם יאיר, והקהל הגדול הלך אחריהם, נדחף ונדחק סביב ישוע. |
25 And a woman, who had had an issue of blood twelve years,
| בקרב הקהל הייתה אישה שסבלה משטף דם מתמיד במשך שתים־עשרה שנה. |
26 and had undergone much at the hands of many physicians, and spent all that she had, and was not at all benefited, but rather grew worse,
| היא סבלה קשות מטיפולים של רופאים שונים, ולאחר שהוציאה את כל כספה, לא זו בלבד שמצבה לא השתפר, הוא אף החמיר! |
27 having heard about Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment.
| היא שמעה על המעשים שישוע עשה, ולכן הלכה אחריו ונגעה בבגדו. |
28 For she said, If I touch even his garments, I shall be made well.
| ”אם רק אצליח לגעת בבגדיו אהיה בריאה“, חשבה לעצמה. |
29 And immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she perceived in her body that she was cured of her plague.
| ואכן, ברגע שנגעה בבגדו פסק שטף הדם, והאישה ידעה שנרפאה. |
30 And Jesus immediately perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, turned round in the crowed, and said, Who touched my garments?
| באותו רגע הרגיש ישוע שיצא ממנו כוח ריפוי. הוא הסתובב לאחור ושאל:”מי נגע בי?“ |
31 And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the multitude pressing on thee, and dost thou say, Who touched me?
| תלמידיו התפלאו על השאלה המשונה והשיבו:”ראה כמה אנשים נדחפים אליך מכל צד, ואתה שואל מי נגע בך?“ |
32 And he looked round to see her who had done this.
| אולם ישוע התעלם מהערתם והמשיך להסתכל סביבו, מחפש את מי שנגע בו. |
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
| האישה, אשר ידעה כי נרפאה, התקרבה אליו, נפלה לרגליו בפחד ובחרדה וסיפרה לו את כל האמת. |
34 And he said to her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee well; go in peace, and be recovered from thy plague.
| ”בתי, אמונתך ריפאה אותך!“אמר לה ישוע.”היי בריאה ולכי לשלום.“ |
35 While he was yet speaking, there came from the house I of the ruler of the synagogue some who said, Thy daughter is dead; why dost thou trouble the Teacher any further?
| בזמן שישוע דיבר אל האישה, הגיעו למקום שליחים מביתו של יאיר והודיעו לאב:”בתך מתה; אין צורך להטריח את המורה.“ |
36 And Jesus, overhearing those words, saith to the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not; only believe.
| אולם ישוע התעלם מכך ואמר ליאיר:”אל תפחד; רק תאמין!“ |
37 And he suffered no one to follow him except Peter and James, and John the brother of James.
| ישוע עצר את הקהל ולא הרשה לאיש ללכת איתו, פרט לפטרוס, יעקב ויוחנן. |
38 And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he seeth a tumult, and people weeping and wailing greatly.
| בהגיעם לביתו של יאיר מצאו את כולם בוכים ומתאבלים על מות הילדה. |
39 And going in, he saith to them, Why do ye make this confusion and weeping? The child is not dead, but is sleeping.
| ישוע נכנס פנימה ושאל את האנשים:”מדוע אתם בוכים ומתרגשים? הילדה לא מתה; היא רק ישנה.“ |
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But putting them all out, he taketh the father of the child, and the mother, and those who were with him, and entereth where the child was.
| כל הנוכחים לעגו לו, אולם הוא לא שם לב לכך וביקש מכולם לצאת משם. הוא לקח את ההורים ואת תלמידיו ונכנס איתם לחדרה של הילדה. |
41 And taking hold of the hand of the child, he saith to her, Talitha, kum; which is, when interpreted, Damsel, I say to thee, arise!
| ישוע אחז בידה של הילדה וקרא:”טליתא, קומי!“(כלומר:”קומי, ילדה!“) היא הייתה בת 12 והיא אכן קמה ממיטתה והתהלכה בבית. הוריה התפלאו מאוד, |
42 And immediately the damsel arose and walked; for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were greatly astonished.
43 And he charged them strictly that no one should know it, and bade that something should be given her to eat.
| אך ישוע הזהיר אותם שלא יספרו לאף אחד מה שקרה, וביקש שיתנו לילדה משהו לאכול. |
