Mark 5
1 And they came to the other side of the lake, into the country of the Gerasenes.
Ils arrivèrent de l'autre côté de la mer, dans la contrée des Géraséniens.
2 And when he had come out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
Et aussitôt que Jésus fut descendu de la barque, un homme, possédé d'un esprit impur, sortit des tombeaux et vint au-devant de lui.
3 who had his dwelling in the tombs; and not even with a chain could any one bind him any longer;
Il faisait sa demeure dans les tombeaux, et personne ne pouvait plus le tenir lié, même avec une chaîne;
4 because he had often been bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been snapped asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces; and no one could master him;
car souvent, ayant les fers aux pieds et étant lié de chaînes, il avait rompu les chaînes et brisé les fers, et personne n'avait la force de le dompter.
5 and continually, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself, with stones.
Il demeurait continuellement, nuit et jour, dans les tombeaux et sur les montagnes, criant et se meurtrissant avec des pierres.
6 And seeing Jesus afar off, he ran and bowed down before him,
Ayant vu Jésus de loin, il accourut, se prosterna devant lui,
7 and cried out with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, do not torment me.
et, poussant un grand cri, il lui dit: Qu'y a-t-il entre moi et toi, Jésus, Fils du Dieu Très-Haut? Je t'en conjure, au nom de Dieu, ne me tourmente pas!
8 For he was saying to him, Unclean spirit, come out from the man.
Car Jésus lui disait: Esprit impur, sors de cet homme!
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith to him, Legion is my name; for we are many.
Puis Jésus lui demanda: Quel est ton nom? Il lui répondit: Mon nom, c'est Légion; car nous sommes plusieurs.
10 And he besought him much not to send them out of the country.
Et il le priait instamment de ne pas les chasser hors de cette contrée.
11 Now there was there, by the mountain, a great herd of swine feeding.
Or, il y avait là, sur la montagne, un grand troupeau de pourceaux qui paissaient.
12 And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
Les démons lui adressèrent cette prière: Envoie-nous vers ces pourceaux, afin que nous entrions en eux.
13 And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits coming out, entered into the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep into the lake, about two thousand, and were drowned in the lake.
Et Jésus le leur permit. Alors les esprits impurs sortirent de cet homme; ils entrèrent dans les pourceaux, et le troupeau se précipita, du haut de la falaise, dans la mer. Il y en avait environ deux mille; et ils se noyèrent dans la mer.
14 And they that fed them fled, and told the news in the city and in the country. And they came to see what had been done.
Ceux qui les faisaient paître s'enfuirent, et répandirent la nouvelle dans la ville et dans la campagne.
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him who had been possessed by demons, sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, —him who had had the legion; and they were afraid.
Alors les habitants sortirent pour voir ce qui était arrivé. Ils allèrent trouver Jésus, et ils virent le démoniaque qui avait eu la légion de démons, assis, vêtu et dans son bon sens; et ils furent remplis de crainte.
16 And they who saw it told them how it befell him that was possessed by the demons, and concerning the swine.
Ceux qui avaient vu le fait leur racontèrent ce qui était arrivé au démoniaque et aux pourceaux.
17 And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders.
Alors ils se mirent à le prier de se retirer de leur pays.
18 And when he was going on board the boat, he that had been possessed by the demons besought him that be might be with him.
Et comme il entrait dans la barque, le démoniaque lui demanda la permission de rester avec lui.
19 And he did not permit him, but said to him, Go to thy house to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and that he hath had compassion on thee.
Mais Jésus ne le lui permit pas, et il lui dit: Va dans ta maison, chez les tiens, et raconte-leur tout ce que le Seigneur t'a fait, et comment il a eu pitié de toi.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him; and all wondered.
Cet homme s'en alla donc, et il se mit à publier dans la Décapole tout ce que Jésus lui avait fait; et tous étaient dans l'admiration.
21 And when Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the ether side, a great multitude gathered about him; and he was by the lake.
Quand Jésus eut regagné, dans la barque, l'autre rive, une grande foule se rassembla autour de lui. Il se tenait au bord de la mer.
22 And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and seeing him, he fell at his feet,
Alors vint l'un des chefs de la synagogue, nommé Jaïrus, qui, ayant vu Jésus, se jeta à ses pieds.
23 and besought him much, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death; I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be saved and live.
Il le priait instamment et lui disait: Ma petite fille est à toute extrémité; viens lui imposer les mains, pour qu'elle soit guérie et qu'elle vive.
24 And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and pressed upon him.
Jésus alla avec lui; et une grande foule le suivait et le pressait de tous les côtés.
25 And a woman, who had had an issue of blood twelve years,
Or, il se trouvait là une femme malade d'une perte de sang depuis douze ans.
26 and had undergone much at the hands of many physicians, and spent all that she had, and was not at all benefited, but rather grew worse,
Elle avait beaucoup souffert entre les mains de plusieurs médecins, et elle y avait dépensé tout son bien sans recevoir aucun soulagement; son état avait plutôt empiré.
27 having heard about Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment.
Ayant entendu parler de Jésus, elle vint dans la foule, par derrière, et elle toucha son vêtement.
28 For she said, If I touch even his garments, I shall be made well.
Car elle disait: Si je touche seulement ses vêtements, je serai guérie.
29 And immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she perceived in her body that she was cured of her plague.
Au même instant, la perte de sang s'arrêta; et elle sentit dans son corps qu'elle était guérie de son mal.
30 And Jesus immediately perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, turned round in the crowed, and said, Who touched my garments?
Aussitôt Jésus, ayant senti en lui-même qu'une force était sortie de lui, se retourna au milieu de la foule, et il dit: Qui a touché mes vêtements?
31 And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the multitude pressing on thee, and dost thou say, Who touched me?
Ses disciples lui répondirent: Tu vois que la foule te presse, et tu dis: Qui est-ce qui m'a touché?
32 And he looked round to see her who had done this.
Mais il regardait tout autour de lui, pour voir celle qui avait fait cela.
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
Alors la femme, effrayée et tremblante, sachant ce qui lui était arrivé, vint se jeter à ses pieds, et elle lui dit toute la vérité.
34 And he said to her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee well; go in peace, and be recovered from thy plague.
Jésus lui dit: Ma fille, ta foi t'a sauvée; va en paix, et sois guérie de ton mal.
35 While he was yet speaking, there came from the house I of the ruler of the synagogue some who said, Thy daughter is dead; why dost thou trouble the Teacher any further?
Comme il parlait encore, on vint de la maison du chef de la synagogue pour lui dire: Ta fille est morte; pourquoi importuner encore le Maître?
36 And Jesus, overhearing those words, saith to the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not; only believe.
Mais Jésus, sans s'arrêter à ces paroles, dit au chef de la synagogue: Ne crains point, crois seulement!
37 And he suffered no one to follow him except Peter and James, and John the brother of James.
Et il ne permit à personne de le suivre, si ce n'est à Pierre, à Jacques et à Jean, frère de Jacques.
38 And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he seeth a tumult, and people weeping and wailing greatly.
Quand il fut arrivé à la maison du chef de la synagogue, il vit une foule bruyante, des gens qui pleuraient et qui jetaient de grands cris.
39 And going in, he saith to them, Why do ye make this confusion and weeping? The child is not dead, but is sleeping.
Étant entré, il leur dit: Pourquoi faites-vous tout ce bruit, et pourquoi pleurez-vous? L'enfant n'est pas morte, mais elle dort.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But putting them all out, he taketh the father of the child, and the mother, and those who were with him, and entereth where the child was.
Et ils se moquaient de lui. Alors, il les fit tous sortir; il ne prit avec lui que le père et la mère de l'enfant, et ceux qui l'accompagnaient; puis il entra là où se trouvait l'enfant.
41 And taking hold of the hand of the child, he saith to her, Talitha, kum; which is, when interpreted, Damsel, I say to thee, arise!
L'ayant prise par la main, il lui dit: Talilha koumi! — c'est-à-dire: Petite fille, je te le dis, lève-toi!
42 And immediately the damsel arose and walked; for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were greatly astonished.
Aussitôt, elle se leva et se mit à marcher; car elle avait douze ans. Et ils furent frappés d'un grand étonnement.
43 And he charged them strictly that no one should know it, and bade that something should be given her to eat.
Il leur recommanda expressément que personne ne le sût, et il fit donner à manger à l'enfant.
