Mark 4
1 And again he began to teach by the shore of the lake; and there was gathered to him a very great multitude, so that he went into a boat, and sat down in it upon the lake; and all the multitude was by the lake on the land.
Jésus se mit encore à enseigner au bord de la mer. Une grande foule s'étant rassemblée autour de lui, il monta dans une barque où il s'assit; et toute la foule était à terre sur le rivage.
2 And he taught them many things in parables, and said to them in his teaching,
Il leur enseignait beaucoup de choses en paraboles, et il leur disait dans son enseignement:
3 Hearken: Behold, a sower went forth to sow.
Écoutez! Le semeur sortit pour semer.
4 And it came to pass, as he sowed some seeds fell by the way-side; and the birds came and devoured them.
Comme il semait, il arriva qu'une partie de la semence tomba le long du chemin, et les oiseaux vinrent et la mangèrent.
5 And others fell on rocky ground, where they had not much earth; and they sprung up immediately, because they had no depth of earth.
Une autre partie tomba sur un endroit pierreux, où elle n'avait que peu de terre, et elle leva aussitôt, parce qu'elle n'entrait pas profondément dans la terre;
6 But when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
mais le soleil s'étant levé, elle fut brûlée, et, parce qu'elle n'avait pas de racine, elle sécha.
7 And others fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up, and choked them, and they yielded no fruit.
Une autre partie tomba parmi les épines; les épines montèrent et l'étouffèrent, et elle ne donna point de fruit.
8 And others fell on good ground, and shooting up and growing yielded fruit; and bore as much as thirty, and sixty, and a hundred fold.
Une autre partie tomba dans la bonne terre, et elle donna du fruit qui grandit et se développa: un grain en rapporta trente, un autre soixante, et un autre cent.
9 And he said, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Et il disait: Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, entende!
10 And when he was in private, they who were about him, with the twelve, asked him about the parables.
Quand Jésus se trouva seul, ceux qui étaient autour de lui et les Douze l'interrogèrent sur les paraboles.
11 And he said to them, To you hath been given the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to them, who are without, all things are done in parables; t
Il leur répondit: A vous, le mystère du royaume de Dieu a été révélé; mais, à ceux du dehors, tout leur est présente sous forme de paraboles,
12 hat seeing they may see, and not perceive, and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest they should turn, and be forgiven.
afin qu'en voyant, ils regardent et n'aperçoivent pas, et qu'en entendant, ils entendent et ne comprennent point — de peur qu'ils ne se convertissent et qu'il ne leur soit pardonné.
13 And he saith to them, Know ye not this parable? and how will ye know all the parables?
Puis il leur dit: Vous ne comprenez pas cette parabole? Comment donc comprendrez-vous toutes les paraboles?
14 The sower soweth the word.
Le semeur sème la parole.
15 And these are they by the wayside, those where the word is sown, and when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in them.
Ceux qui sont le long du chemin, ce sont ceux en qui la parole est semée; mais, à peine l'ont-ils entendue, Satan vient aussitôt et enlève la parole qui a été semée en eux.
16 And these in like manner are they that are sown on the rocky places, those, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy,
De même, ceux qui reçoivent la semence dans un endroit pierreux, ce sont ceux qui entendent la parole et la reçoivent aussitôt avec joie;
17 and have no root in themselves, but endure only for a time; then, when affliction or persecution ariseth on account of the word, they immediately fall away.
mais comme il n'y a pas de racine en eux-mêmes, ils ne sont que pour un temps, de sorte que, l'affliction ou la persécution survenant à cause de la parole, ils y trouvent aussitôt une occasion de chute.
18 And others are they that are sown among the thorns; these are they who hear the word,
D'autres encore reçoivent la semence parmi les épines: ce sont ceux qui ont écouté la parole;
19 but the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
mais les soucis de ce monde, la séduction des richesses et les autres convoitises, pénètrent en eux et étouffent la parole; et elle devient infructueuse. (aiōn g165)
20 And these are they who are sown on the good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it; and bear fruit, thirty, sixty, and a hundred fold.
Enfin, ceux qui ont reçu la semence dans la bonne terre, ce sont ceux qui écoutent la parole, qui la reçoivent et portent des fruits: un grain trente, un autre soixante, un autre cent.
21 And he said to them, Is a lamp brought to be put under the bushel, or under the bed, and not to be set on the lamp-stand?
Il leur disait aussi: Apporte-t-on la lampe pour la mettre sous le boisseau ou sous le lit? N'est-ce pas pour la mettre sur un support?
22 For there is nothing secret, unless to be made known; nor was any thing hidden, but that it should come to light.
Car il n'y a rien de secret qui ne doive être manifesté, ni rien de caché qui ne doive être mis en évidence.
23 If any one hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Si quelqu'un a des oreilles pour entendre, qu'il entende!
24 And he said to them, Take heed what ye hear. With what measure ye mete, it will be measured to you, and more will be added to you.
Il leur disait aussi: Prenez garde à ce que vous entendez. On se servira pour vous de la mesure avec laquelle vous mesurerez, et on y ajoutera encore.
25 For he that hath, to him will be given; and he that hath not, from him will be taken away even what he hath.
Car on donnera à celui qui a; mais à celui qui n'a pas, on ôtera même ce qu'il a!
26 And he said, Thus is the kingdom of God, as when a man has cast seed upon the ground,
Il disait encore: Il en est du royaume de Dieu comme d'un homme qui jette la semence en terre:
27 and sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed springs and grows up, he knows not how.
qu'il dorme ou qu'il veille, la nuit et le jour, la semence germe et croît, sans qu'il sache comment.
28 For the earth brings forth fruit of itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
Car la terre produit d'elle-même son fruit: premièrement l'herbe, ensuite l'épi, puis le grain tout formé dans l'épi.
29 But when the fruit puts itself forth, immediately he sends out the sickle, because the harvest is come.
Et quand le fruit est dans sa maturité, on y met aussitôt la faucille, parce que le temps de la moisson est venu.
30 And he said, To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? or under what comparison shall we set it forth?
Il disait encore: A quoi comparerons-nous le royaume de Dieu, ou par quelle parabole le représenterons-nous?
31 It is like a grain of mustard, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that are in the earth;
Il en est de lui comme d'un grain de moutarde: lorsqu'on le sème, il est la plus petite de toutes les semences qui sont sur la terre;
32 and when it is sown, it grows up, and becomes greater than all the herbs, and puts forth great branches, so that the birds of the air can lodge under its shade.
mais quand il a été semé, il monte, devient plus grand que tous les légumes et pousse de grandes branches, en sorte que les oiseaux du ciel peuvent s'abriter sous son ombre.
33 And with many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear.
C'est par plusieurs paraboles de ce genre qu'il leur annonçait la parole, dans la mesure où ils étaient capables de la comprendre.
34 But without a parable he did not speak to them; but in private he explained all things to his own disciples.
Il ne leur parlait donc qu'en paraboles; mais, en particulier, il expliquait tout à ses disciples.
35 And on the same day, when the evening was come, he saith to them, Let us pass over to the other side.
Ce jour-là, quand le soir fut venu, il leur dit: Passons à l'autre bord.
36 And leaving the multitude, they take him with them, as he was, in the boat; and there were also other boats with him.
Après avoir renvoyé la foule, ils emmenèrent Jésus dans la barque où il était; et il y avait aussi d'autres barques qui l'accompagnaient.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves heat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
Or, il s'éleva un grand tourbillon de vent, et les vagues se jetaient dans la barque, en sorte qu'elle commençait à se remplir;
38 And he was in the stern, asleep on the pillow; and they awake him, and say to him, Teacher, carest thou not that we are perishing?
mais lui était à la poupe, dormant sur un coussin. Ils le réveillèrent et lui dirent: Maître, cela ne te fait-il rien que nous périssions?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said to the waves, Peace! be still! And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Alors, s'étant réveillé, il imposa silence au vent, et il dit à la mer: Tais-toi, sois tranquille! Le vent cessa, et il se fit un grand calme.
40 And he said to them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have not faith?
Puis il leur dit: Pourquoi avez-vous peur? N'avez-vous donc plus de foi?
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who then is this, that even the wind and the waves obey him?
Ils furent saisis d'une grande crainte, et ils se disaient l'un à l'autre: Qui est donc celui-ci, auquel le vent même et la mer obéissent?
