Mark 4
1 And again he began to teach by the shore of the lake; and there was gathered to him a very great multitude, so that he went into a boat, and sat down in it upon the lake; and all the multitude was by the lake on the land.
Il se mit de nouveau à enseigner au bord de la mer. Une grande foule s'était rassemblée autour de lui, de sorte qu'il monta dans une barque sur la mer et s'assit. Toute la foule était à terre, au bord de la mer.
2 And he taught them many things in parables, and said to them in his teaching,
Il leur enseigna beaucoup de choses en paraboles, et leur dit dans son enseignement:
3 Hearken: Behold, a sower went forth to sow.
« Écoutez! Voici, le cultivateur est sorti pour semer.
4 And it came to pass, as he sowed some seeds fell by the way-side; and the birds came and devoured them.
Comme il semait, une partie de la semence tomba le long du chemin, et les oiseaux vinrent la dévorer.
5 And others fell on rocky ground, where they had not much earth; and they sprung up immediately, because they had no depth of earth.
D'autres tombèrent sur le sol rocailleux, où il y avait peu de terre, et aussitôt elles poussèrent, parce qu'elles n'avaient pas de profondeur de terre.
6 But when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
Quand le soleil se leva, elle fut brûlée; et comme elle n'avait pas de racine, elle se dessécha.
7 And others fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up, and choked them, and they yielded no fruit.
D'autres sont tombés parmi les épines; les épines ont poussé et l'ont étouffé, et il n'a pas donné de fruit.
8 And others fell on good ground, and shooting up and growing yielded fruit; and bore as much as thirty, and sixty, and a hundred fold.
D' autres tombèrent dans la bonne terre et donnèrent du fruit, en grandissant et en s'accroissant. Les uns produisaient trente fois, les autres soixante fois, et d'autres cent fois plus. »
9 And he said, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Il dit: « Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre entende. »
10 And when he was in private, they who were about him, with the twelve, asked him about the parables.
Lorsqu'il fut seul, ceux qui l'entouraient avec les douze l'interrogèrent sur les paraboles.
11 And he said to them, To you hath been given the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to them, who are without, all things are done in parables; t
Il leur dit: « C'est à vous qu'a été donné le mystère du royaume de Dieu; mais pour ceux du dehors, tout se passe en paraboles,
12 hat seeing they may see, and not perceive, and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest they should turn, and be forgiven.
afin que, voyant, ils ne voient pas, et qu'entendant, ils n'entendent pas, de peur qu'ils ne se convertissent et que leurs péchés ne leur soient pardonnés. »
13 And he saith to them, Know ye not this parable? and how will ye know all the parables?
Il leur dit: « Ne comprenez-vous pas cette parabole? Comment comprendrez-vous toutes les paraboles?
14 The sower soweth the word.
Le cultivateur sème la parole.
15 And these are they by the wayside, those where the word is sown, and when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in them.
Ceux qui sont au bord du chemin sont ceux où la parole est semée; et quand ils ont entendu, aussitôt Satan vient et enlève la parole qui a été semée en eux.
16 And these in like manner are they that are sown on the rocky places, those, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy,
De même, ce sont ceux qui sont semés sur les rochers, qui, après avoir entendu la parole, la reçoivent aussitôt avec joie.
17 and have no root in themselves, but endure only for a time; then, when affliction or persecution ariseth on account of the word, they immediately fall away.
Ils n'ont pas de racines en eux-mêmes, mais ils sont éphémères. Quand l'oppression ou la persécution survient à cause de la parole, aussitôt ils chancellent.
18 And others are they that are sown among the thorns; these are they who hear the word,
D'autres sont ceux qui sont semés parmi les épines. Ce sont ceux qui ont entendu la parole,
19 but the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
mais les soucis du siècle présent, la séduction des richesses, et les convoitises qui s'introduisent, étouffent la parole, et la rendent infructueuse. (aiōn g165)
20 And these are they who are sown on the good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it; and bear fruit, thirty, sixty, and a hundred fold.
Ceux qui ont été semés dans la bonne terre, ce sont ceux qui entendent la parole, la reçoivent et portent du fruit, les uns trente fois, les autres soixante fois, les autres cent fois. »
21 And he said to them, Is a lamp brought to be put under the bushel, or under the bed, and not to be set on the lamp-stand?
Il leur dit: « Apporte-t-on une lampe pour la mettre sous un panier ou sous un lit? Ne la met-on pas sur un support?
22 For there is nothing secret, unless to be made known; nor was any thing hidden, but that it should come to light.
Car il n'y a rien de caché, si ce n'est pour être connu, et il n'y a rien de secret, si ce n'est pour être mis en lumière.
23 If any one hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Si quelqu'un a des oreilles pour entendre, qu'il entende. »
24 And he said to them, Take heed what ye hear. With what measure ye mete, it will be measured to you, and more will be added to you.
Il leur dit: « Prenez garde à ce que vous entendez. Avec quelque mesure que vous mesuriez, on vous mesurera, et l'on donnera davantage à ceux qui entendent.
25 For he that hath, to him will be given; and he that hath not, from him will be taken away even what he hath.
Car celui qui a, on lui donnera davantage; et celui qui n'a pas, on lui enlèvera même ce qu'il a. »
26 And he said, Thus is the kingdom of God, as when a man has cast seed upon the ground,
Il dit: « Le royaume de Dieu est semblable à un homme qui jette de la semence sur la terre,
27 and sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed springs and grows up, he knows not how.
qui dort et se lève nuit et jour, et dont la semence lève et croît sans qu'il sache comment.
28 For the earth brings forth fruit of itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
Car la terre porte du fruit d'elle-même: d'abord le limbe, puis l'épi, puis le grain entier dans l'épi.
29 But when the fruit puts itself forth, immediately he sends out the sickle, because the harvest is come.
Mais quand le fruit est mûr, aussitôt il met la faucille, car la moisson est arrivée. »
30 And he said, To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? or under what comparison shall we set it forth?
Il dit: « Comment allons-nous comparer le Royaume de Dieu? Ou par quelle parabole l'illustrerons-nous?
31 It is like a grain of mustard, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that are in the earth;
Il est semblable à un grain de sénevé qui, lorsqu'il est semé en terre, bien qu'il soit inférieur à toutes les graines qui se trouvent sur la terre,
32 and when it is sown, it grows up, and becomes greater than all the herbs, and puts forth great branches, so that the birds of the air can lodge under its shade.
mais qui, une fois semé, grandit et devient plus grand que toutes les herbes, et pousse de grandes branches, de sorte que les oiseaux du ciel peuvent se loger sous son ombre. »
33 And with many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear.
C'est par de nombreuses paraboles de ce genre qu'il leur adressait la parole, selon qu'ils étaient capables de l'entendre.
34 But without a parable he did not speak to them; but in private he explained all things to his own disciples.
Sans parabole, il ne leur parlait pas, mais il expliquait tout en privé à ses propres disciples.
35 And on the same day, when the evening was come, he saith to them, Let us pass over to the other side.
Ce jour-là, le soir venu, il leur dit: « Passons à l' autre rive. »
36 And leaving the multitude, they take him with them, as he was, in the boat; and there were also other boats with him.
Laissant la foule, ils le prirent avec eux, tel qu'il était, dans la barque. D'autres barques étaient aussi avec lui.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves heat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
Une grande tempête de vent se leva, et les vagues frappèrent la barque, au point qu'elle était déjà remplie.
38 And he was in the stern, asleep on the pillow; and they awake him, and say to him, Teacher, carest thou not that we are perishing?
Lui-même était à l'arrière, endormi sur le coussin; ils le réveillèrent et lui demandèrent: « Maître, cela ne te fait-il rien que nous soyons en train de mourir? »
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said to the waves, Peace! be still! And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Il se réveilla, menaça le vent, et dit à la mer: « Paix! Sois tranquille! » Le vent cessa et il y eut un grand calme.
40 And he said to them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have not faith?
Il leur dit: « Pourquoi avez-vous si peur? Comment se fait-il que vous n'ayez pas la foi? »
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who then is this, that even the wind and the waves obey him?
Ils furent saisis d'une grande crainte et se dirent les uns aux autres: « Qui donc est celui-ci, pour que même le vent et la mer lui obéissent? »
