< Mark 13 >
1 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith to him, Teacher, see! what stones, and what buildings!
And He departing out from the temple, one of His disciples says to Him, Teacher, behold, how great stones and how great buildings!
2 And Jesus said to him, Seest thou these great buildings? There will not be left one stone upon another, that will not be thrown down.
And Jesus responding said to him, Do you see these great buildings? stone may not be left upon stone, which may not be thrown down.
3 And as he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
And He sitting upon the Mount of Olives in front of the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked Him privately,
4 Tell us, when will these things be? and what will be the sign when all these things are about to be accomplished?
Tell us, when these things shall be? and what shall be the sign when all these things may be about to have an end?
5 And Jesus began to say to them, See that no one deceive you.
And Jesus began to say to them, See, lest any one may deceive you.
6 Many will come in my name, saying, I am He; and will deceive many.
For many will come in my name, saying, I am He; and will deceive many. I
7 And when ye hear of wars, and rumors of wars, be not troubled; they must come to pass; but not yet is the end.
And when you may hear of wars and rumors of wars, be not disturbed: for it behooves it to be so; but the end is not yet.
8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in divers places; there will be famines. These things are the beginning of travail-pains.
For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earth-quakes in divers places; and there shall be famines.
9 But do ye take heed to yourselves; they will deliver you up to councils, and ye will be taken into synagogues and beaten; and ye will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them.
These are the beginnings of travails. But you take heed to yourselves: for they will deliver you into councils; and will beat you in the synagogues: and you shall stand before governors and kings on account of me, for a testimony unto them.
10 And the glad tidings must first be published to all the nations.
And it behooves the gospel first to be preached to all the nations.
11 And when they lead you away to deliver you up, be not anxious beforehand as to what ye shall speak; but whatever shall be given you in that hour, that speak; for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit.
And when they may lead you forth, delivering you up, do not be solicitous what you may speak, nor meditate: but whatsoever may be given to you in that hour, speak this: for you are not those speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
12 And brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child; and children will rise up against parents, and put them to death.
And brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father the child; and the children will rise up against the parents, and put them to death.
13 And ye will be hated by all on account of my name. But he that endureth to the end will be saved.
And you shall be hated by all on account of my name: but the one persevering to the end, the same shall be saved.
14 But when ye see the abomination of desolation standing where it ought not, —let him that readeth understand, —then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains;
And when you may see the abomination of desolation standing where it ought not (let him that readeth know), then let those in Judea fly to the mountains:
15 let not him that is on the house-top go down, nor enter, to take anything out of his house;
and let not the one on the housetop come down, nor enter in, to take anything out of his house:
16 and let not him that is in the field turn back to take his garment.
and let not the one who is in the field turn back to take his garment.
17 And woe to the women with child, and to those with children at the breast, in those days!
But alas unto those who are in gestation and nursing in those days.
18 And pray that it may not be in winter.
But pray that your flight may not be in the winter.
19 For those days will be a time of distress, such as hath not been from the beginning of the creation which God created until now, nor shall be.
For these days will be tribulation, such as has never been from the beginning of creation which God created, until now, and never may be.
20 And if the Lord had not shortened the days, no flesh would have been saved; but for the sake of the chosen whom he chose, he shortened the days.
And unless the Lord shortened those days, no flesh would be saved: but for the sake of the elect, whom He chose, He shortened the days.
21 And then if any one shall say to you, See! here is the Christ; see! there; believe him not.
And if then one may say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, Lo, there; believe not.
22 For false Christs and false prophets will rise up, and will do signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the chosen.
For false Christs and false prophets will arise, and give signs and wonders, to deceive even the elect, if possible.
23 But do ye take heed! I have told you all beforehand.
But you see: behold, I have foretold you all things.
24 But in those days, after that distress, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her light;
And in those days, after that desolation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her light,
25 and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.
and the stars of heaven will be falling, and the powers which are in the heavens shall be shaken.
26 And then will they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
And then they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
27 And then will he send forth the angels, and will gather the chosen ones from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
And then He will send forth His angels, and will gather His elect from the four winds, from the extremity of the earth unto the extremity of heaven.
28 And from the fig-tree learn its parable. When its branch hath now become tender, and putteth forth its leaves, ye know that summer is near.
But learn the parable from the fig-tree: when her branches may be now tender, and she may grow out leaves, know that the summer is nigh.
29 So also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that he is near, at the doors.
So you also, when you may see these things take place, know that it is already at the doors.
30 Truly do I say to you, that this generation will not pass away, till all these things take place.
Truly I say unto you, this race may not pass away, until all these things may be fulfilled.
31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
32 But that day or hour knoweth no one, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father.
But concerning that day or hour no one knows, neither the angels who are in heaven, or the Son, but the Father.
33 Take heed, watch; for ye know not when the time is.
Beware, watch; for you know not when the time is.
34 As a man going abroad, having left his house and given authority to his servants, to each one his work, also commanded the porter to watch,
As a man, going away, leaving his own house, and giving authority to his servants, and to each one his work, and commanded the porter that he should watch.
35 so also watch ye; for ye know not when the master of the house is coming, whether at evening, or at midnight, or at the cock-crowing, or in the morning;
Watch therefore: for you know not when the Lord of the house cometh, late, or at midnight, or at the crowing of the cock, or in the morning;
36 lest coming suddenly, he find you sleeping.
lest having come suddenly he may find you sleeping.
37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch.
And the things I say to you, I say to all, Watch.
