Luke 1
1 Inasmuch as many have undertaken to arrange a narrative of those things which are fully believed among us,
൧ബഹുമാന്യനായ തെയോഫിലോസേ, നമ്മുടെ ഇടയിൽ നിറവേറിയ കാര്യങ്ങളെ വിവരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ചരിത്രം എഴുതാൻ പലരും ശ്രമിച്ചു വരുന്നു,
2 even as they were delivered to us by those who were eye-witnesses from the beginning and became ministers of the word,
൨ആദിമുതലുള്ള ദൃക് സാക്ഷികളും വചനത്തിന്‍റെ ശുശ്രൂഷകരുമായവർ ഇതു നമ്മെ അറിയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു,
3 it seemed good to me also, having accurately traced up all things from the first, to write to thee a connected account, most excellent Theophilus,
൩അതുകൊണ്ട് നിനക്കു ഉപദേശം ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വിവരങ്ങളുടെ യാഥാർത്ഥ്യം നീ അറിയേണ്ടതിന്,
4 that thou mightst know the exact truth with regard to those things in which thou wast instructed.
൪അത് ക്രമമായി എഴുതുന്നത് നല്ലതാണെന്ന് ആദിമുതൽ സകലവും സൂക്ഷ്മമായി പരിശോധിച്ചിട്ട് എനിക്കും തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
5 There was in the days of Herod, king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zachariah, of the course of Abijah; and he had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
൫യെഹൂദ്യരാജാവായ ഹെരോദാവിൻ്റെ ഭരണകാലത്ത് അഹീയാവിന്‍റെ പൗരോഹിത്യ ഗണത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന സെഖര്യാവ് എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു പുരോഹിതൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്‍റെ ഭാര്യ അഹരോന്‍റെ പുത്രിമാരിൽ ഒരുവൾ ആയിരുന്നു; അവൾക്ക് എലിസബെത്ത് എന്നു പേർ.
6 And they were both righteous in the sight of God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
൬ഇരുവരും ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ നീതിയുള്ളവരും കർത്താവിന്‍റെ സകല കല്പനകളും ന്യായങ്ങളും അനുസരിക്കുന്നവരും ആയിരുന്നു.
7 And they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both far advanced in years.
൭എലിസബെത്ത് വന്ധ്യയായിരുന്നതു കൊണ്ടു അവർക്ക് മക്കൾ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു; ഇരുവരും വൃദ്ധരും ആയിരുന്നു.
8 And it came to pass, that, while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his course,
൮സെഖര്യാവ് തന്‍റെ ഗണത്തിൻ്റെ ക്രമം അനുസരിച്ച് ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ പുരോഹിതനായി ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുവരുമ്പോൾ:
9 according to the custom of the priesthood the lot fell to him to go into the temple of the Lord and burn the incense.
൯പൗരോഹിത്യമര്യാദപ്രകാരം കർത്താവിന്‍റെ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ ചെന്നു ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാൻ അവനെ നറുക്കെടുപ്പിലൂടെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.
10 And the whole multitude of the people was praying without at the time of the incense.
൧൦അവൻ ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്ന സമയത്ത് ജനസമൂഹം ഒക്കെയും പുറത്തു പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
11 And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord, standing on the right of the altar of incense.
൧൧അപ്പോൾ കർത്താവിന്‍റെ ദൂതൻ ധൂപപീഠത്തിന്‍റെ വലത്തുഭാഗത്ത് നില്ക്കുന്നവനായിട്ട് അവനു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.
12 And Zachariah was troubled at the sight, and fear fell upon him.
൧൨സെഖര്യാവ് അവനെ കണ്ടു പരിഭ്രമിച്ചു.
13 But the angel said to him, Fear not, Zachariah; for thy prayer was heard, and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name John.
൧൩ദൂതൻ അവനോട് പറഞ്ഞത്:”സെഖര്യാവേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിന്‍റെ പ്രാർത്ഥനയ്ക്ക് ഉത്തരം ലഭിച്ചു: നിന്‍റെ ഭാര്യ എലിസബെത്ത് നിനക്കു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവനു യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു പേർ ഇടേണം.
14 And thou wilt have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice for his birth.
൧൪നിനക്കു സന്തോഷവും ഉല്ലാസവും ഉണ്ടാകും; അവന്‍റെ ജനനം പലർക്കും സന്തോഷം ഉളവാക്കും.
15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and will drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit from his very birth.
൧൫അവൻ കർത്താവിന് വേണ്ടി വലിയ കാര്യങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യും; വീഞ്ഞും മദ്യവും കുടിക്കുകയില്ല; അമ്മയുടെ ഗർഭത്തിൽവച്ച് തന്നെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു നിറയും.
16 And many of the sons of Israel will he turn to the Lord their God.
൧൬അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കളിൽ പലരെയും അവരുടെ ദൈവമായ കർത്താവിലേക്ക് മടക്കിവരുത്തും.
17 And he will go before his face in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers to children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, to make ready for the Lord a prepared people.
൧൭അവൻ കർത്താവിന് മുമ്പായി ഏലീയാവിന്‍റെ ആത്മാവോടും ശക്തിയോടുംകൂടെ നടക്കും; അവൻ മാതാപിതാക്കളും മക്കളും തമ്മിലുള്ള ബന്ധം പുന: സ്ഥാപിക്കും; അവൻ അനുസരിക്കാത്തവരെ നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ വിവേകത്തിലേക്ക് തിരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവരും; അങ്ങനെ ഒരുക്കമുള്ള ഒരു ജനത്തെ കർത്താവിനുവേണ്ടി തയ്യാറാക്കും.”
18 And Zachariah said to the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife is far advanced in years.
൧൮സെഖര്യാവ് ദൂതനോട്:”ഇവ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ എങ്ങനെ അറിയും? ഞാൻ വൃദ്ധനും എന്‍റെ ഭാര്യ വയസ്സുചെന്നവളുമല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
19 And the angel answering said to him, I am Gabriel, who stand in the presence of God; and I was sent to speak to thee, and to tell thee these glad tidings.
൧൯ദൂതൻ അവനോട്:”ഞാൻ ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ നില്ക്കുന്ന ഗബ്രിയേൽ ആകുന്നു; നിന്നോട് സംസാരിപ്പാനും ഈ സദ്വർത്തമാനം നിന്നോട് അറിയിക്കുവാനും എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
20 And lo! thou shalt be silent, and not able to speak, until the day when these things shall come to pass, because thou didst not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their season.
൨൦തക്കസമയത്ത് സംഭവിപ്പാനുള്ള എന്‍റെ ഈ വാക്ക് വിശ്വസിക്കാഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ട് അത് സംഭവിക്കും വരെ നീ സംസാരിപ്പാൻ കഴിയാതെ മൗനമായിരിക്കും” എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
21 And the people were looking for Zachariah, and wondering that he remained so long in the temple.
൨൧ജനം സെഖര്യാവിനായി കാത്തിരുന്നു, അവൻ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ നിന്നു പുറത്തുവരാൻ താമസിച്ചതിനാൽ ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.
22 And on coming out, he was not able to speak to them; and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple; and he was beckoning to them, and remained speechless.
൨൨അവൻ പുറത്തു വന്നപ്പോൾ അവരോട് സംസാരിപ്പാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല; അതിനാൽ അവൻ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ ഒരു ദർശനം കണ്ടു എന്നു അവർ അറിഞ്ഞ്; അവൻ അവരോട് ആം‌ഗ്യഭാഷയിൽ സംസാരിച്ചു ഊമനായി പാർത്തു.
23 And it came to pass, when the days of his ministration were completed, that he returned to his house.
൨൩അവന്‍റെ ശുശ്രൂഷാകാലം പൂർത്തിയായപ്പോൾ അവൻ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
24 And after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,
൨൪ആ നാളുകൾ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ട് അവന്‍റെ ഭാര്യ എലിസബെത്ത് ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു. അഞ്ചു മാസം എലിസബെത്ത് ഒളിച്ചു പാർത്തു.
25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me to take away my reproach among men.
൨൫”മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയിൽ എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്ന നിന്ദ നീക്കുവാൻ കർത്താവിന് എന്നോട് ദയ തോന്നിയ നാളിൽ ഇങ്ങനെ എനിക്ക് ചെയ്തുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു എലിസബെത്ത് പറഞ്ഞു.
26 And in her sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, called Nazareth,
൨൬എലിസബെത്ത് ഗർഭിണിയായി ആറു മാസം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ദൈവം ഗബ്രിയേൽദൂതനെ ഗലീലയിലെ നസറെത്ത് എന്ന പട്ടണത്തിലേക്ക് അയച്ചു.
27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
൨൭അവിടെ ദാവീദിന്‍റെ പിന്തുടർച്ചക്കാരനായ യോസേഫ് എന്നൊരു പുരുഷന് വിവാഹം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരുന്ന കന്യകയുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു; ആ കന്യകയുടെ പേർ മറിയ എന്നു ആയിരുന്നു.
28 And the angel came in to her and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored! the Lord is with thee.
൨൮ദൂതൻ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ അകത്ത് ചെന്നു:”കൃപ ലഭിച്ചവളേ, നിനക്കു വന്ദനം; കർത്താവ് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ട്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
29 And she was troubled at the words, and was considering what this salutation could mean.
൨൯അവൾ ആ വാക്ക് കേട്ടു ഭയപരവശയായി. ഇതു എന്തിനാണ് തന്നോട് പറയുന്നത് എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു.
30 And the angel said to her, Fear not, Mary; for thou hast found favor with God.
൩൦ദൂതൻ അവളോട്:”മറിയയേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിനക്കു ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ കൃപ ലഭിച്ചു.
31 And lo! thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and hear a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.
൩൧നീ ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവനു യേശു എന്നു പേർ വിളിക്കേണം.
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of David his father;
൩൨അവൻ വലിയവൻ ആകും; അത്യുന്നതന്‍റെ പുത്രൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും; കർത്താവായ ദൈവം അവന്‍റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്‍റെ സിംഹാസനം അവനു കൊടുക്കും
33 and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. (aiōn g165)
൩൩അവൻ യാക്കോബിന്‍റെ സന്തതി പരമ്പരകൾക്ക് എന്നേക്കും രാജാവായിരിക്കും; അവന്‍റെ രാജ്യത്തിന് അവസാനം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. (aiōn g165)
34 Then said Mary to the angel, How shall this be, since I know not a man?
൩൪മറിയ ദൂതനോട്:”ഞാൻ കന്യക ആയതിനാൽ ഇതു എങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
35 And the angel answering said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon thee, and the power of the Most High will overshadow thee; wherefore the holy one that is to be born will be called the Son of God.
൩൫അതിന് ദൂതൻ:”പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് നിന്‍റെമേൽ വരും; അത്യുന്നതന്‍റെ ശക്തിയാൽ അത് സംഭവിക്കും; ആകയാൽ ഉത്ഭവിക്കുന്ന വിശുദ്ധശിശു ദൈവപുത്രൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.
36 And lo! Elizabeth, thy kinswoman, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who is called barren.
൩൬നിന്‍റെ ബന്ധുവായ എലിസബെത്ത് വൃദ്ധയായിരുന്നിട്ടും ഒരു മകനെ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; വന്ധ്യ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവന്നവൾക്ക് ഇതു ആറാം മാസം.
37 For nothing will be impossible with God.
൩൭ദൈവത്തിന് ഒരു കാര്യവും അസാദ്ധ്യമല്ല” എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
38 And Mary said, Lo, the handmaid of the Lord! May it be to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
൩൮അതിന് മറിയ:”ഇതാ, ഞാൻ കർത്താവിന്‍റെ ദാസി; അതുകൊണ്ട് നീ പറഞ്ഞ കാര്യങ്ങൾ എനിക്ക് സംഭവിക്കട്ടെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ദൂതൻ അവളെ വിട്ടുപോയി.
39 And Mary arose and went in those days into the hill-country with haste, into a city of Judah.
൩൯കുറച്ച് ദിവസങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷം മറിയ വളരെ വേഗം മലനാട്ടിൽ ഒരു യെഹൂദ്യപട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്നു,
40 And she entered the house of Zachariah, and saluted Elizabeth.
൪൦അവിടെ സെഖര്യാവിന്‍റെ വീട്ടിൽ എത്തി എലിസബെത്തിനെ വന്ദനം ചെയ്തു.
41 And it came to pass, when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit,
൪൧മറിയയുടെ വന്ദനം എലിസബെത്ത് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ശിശു അവളുടെ ഗർഭത്തിൽ തുള്ളി; എലിസബെത്ത് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് നിറഞ്ഞു,
42 and cried out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women; and blessed is the fruit of thy womb!
൪൨ഇപ്രകാരം ഉച്ചത്തിൽ വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു:”സകല സ്ത്രീകളിലും നീ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവളാണ്; നിന്‍റെ ഗർഭത്തിലുള്ള ശിശുവും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടതാണ്.
43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
൪൩എന്‍റെ കർത്താവിന്‍റെ മാതാവ് എന്‍റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുവാനുള്ള ഭാഗ്യം എനിക്ക് എവിടെ നിന്നു ഉണ്ടായി.
44 For lo! as soon as the voice of thy salutation came to my ears, the babe leaped in my womb in exultation.
൪൪നിന്‍റെ വന്ദനസ്വരം ഞാൻ കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ശിശു എന്‍റെ ഗർഭത്തിൽ ആനന്ദംകൊണ്ട് തുള്ളി.
45 And blessed is she who hath believed that there will be an accomplishment of those things which were told her from the Lord.
൪൫കർത്താവ് തന്നോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത കാര്യങ്ങൾ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു വിശ്വസിച്ചവൾ ഭാഗ്യവതി.”
46 And Mary said, My soul magnifieth the Lord,
൪൬അപ്പോൾ മറിയ പറഞ്ഞത്: “എന്‍റെ ഉള്ളം കർത്താവിനെ മഹിമപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു;
47 and my spirit hath exulted in God my Saviour;
൪൭എന്‍റെ ആത്മാവ് എന്‍റെ രക്ഷിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു.
48 for he hath looked upon the low estate of his handmaiden. For lo! from this time all generations will call me blessed;
൪൮അവൻ തന്‍റെ ദാസിയുടെ താഴ്ചയെ അംഗീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇന്നുമുതൽ എല്ലാ തലമുറകളും എന്നെ ഭാഗ്യവതി എന്നു വാഴ്ത്തും.
49 for the Mighty One hath done great things for me; and holy is his name;
൪൯സർവ്വശക്തൻ എനിക്ക് വലിയ കാര്യങ്ങൾ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്‍റെ നാമം പരിശുദ്ധം ആകുന്നു.
50 and his mercy is from generation to generation on them that fear him.
൫൦അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നവർക്ക് അവന്‍റെ കരുണ തലമുറതലമുറയോളം ലഭിക്കുന്നു.
51 He hath wrought mightily with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the device of their heart.
൫൧അവൻ തന്‍റെ കയ്യാൽ ശക്തമായ കാര്യങ്ങൾ ചെയ്തു. തങ്ങളുടെ ചിന്തകളിൽ അഹങ്കരിക്കുന്നവരെ ചിതറിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
52 He hath cast down princes from thrones, and exalted men of low degree.
൫൨പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെ അവരുടെ സിംഹാസനങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നു ഇറക്കി വിനീതരെ ഉയർത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
53 The hungry he hath filled with good things, and the rich he hath sent away empty.
൫൩വിശന്നിരിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് ആവശ്യമായ ആഹാരം നൽകി, സമ്പന്നന്മാരെ വെറുതെ അയച്ചു.
54 He hath given help to Israel his servant, in remembrance of his mercy
൫൪തന്‍റെ ദാസനായ യിസ്രായേലിനെ സഹായിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു,
൫൫നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അബ്രാഹാമിനും അവന്‍റെ സന്തതിയ്ക്കും എന്നേക്കും കരുണ ലഭിക്കേണ്ടതിനു.” (aiōn g165)
56 And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.
൫൬മറിയ ഏകദേശം മൂന്നുമാസം എലിസബെത്തിനോട് കൂടെ താമസിച്ചിട്ട് വീട്ടിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
57 Now Elizabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.
൫൭എലിസബെത്തിന് പ്രസവിപ്പാനുള്ള സമയം തികഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അവൾ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു;
58 And her neighbors and her kinsfolk heard that the Lord had showed great mercy toward her; and they rejoiced with her.
൫൮കർത്താവ് അവൾക്ക് വലിയ കരുണ കാണിച്ചു എന്നു അയൽക്കാരും ബന്ധുക്കളും കേട്ടിട്ടു അവളോടുകൂടെ സന്തോഷിച്ചു.
59 And it came to pass that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they were about to call him Zachariah, after the name of his father.
൫൯എട്ടാം നാളിൽ അവർ പൈതലിനെ പരിച്ഛേദന ചെയ്‌വാൻ കൊണ്ടു വന്നു; യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ പാരമ്പര്യം അനുസരിച്ചു അപ്പന്‍റെ പേർ പോലെ അവനു സെഖര്യാവ് എന്നു പേർ വിളിക്കുവാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.
60 And his mother answering said, Not so; but he shall be called John.
൬൦അവന്‍റെ അമ്മയോ:”അല്ല, അവനു യോഹന്നാൻ” എന്നു പേരിടേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
61 And they said to her, There is no one of thy kindred that is called by this name.
൬൧അവർ അവളോട്:”നിന്‍റെ ബന്ധുക്കൾക്ക് ആർക്കും ആ പേര് ഇല്ലല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
62 And they made signs to his father, how he would have him named.
൬൨പിന്നെ അവനു എന്ത് പേരിടാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അപ്പനോട് ആംഗ്യം കാട്ടി ചോദിച്ചു.
63 And he asked for a writing-tablet, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they all marveled.
൬൩അവൻ ഒരു എഴുത്തു പലക ചോദിച്ചു: അവന്‍റെ പേർ യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു എഴുതി; എല്ലാവരും ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.
64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue was loosed; and he spoke, blessing God.
൬൪ഉടനെ അവന്‍റെ സംസാരശേഷി തിരികെ ലഭിച്ചു, അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചു ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിച്ചു.
65 And fear came on all that dwelt around them; and all these things were talked of throughout the whole of the hill-country of Judaea.
൬൫അയൽക്കാർക്കെല്ലാം ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ ശക്തിയെക്കുറിച്ച് ഭയവും ആശ്ചര്യവും ഉണ്ടായി; യെഹൂദ്യമലനാട്ടിൽ എങ്ങും ഈ വാർത്ത ഒക്കെയും പ്രസിദ്ധമായി
66 And all that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What then will this child be? For the hand of the Lord was with him.
൬൬കേട്ടവർ എല്ലാവരും അവിടെ സംഭവിച്ച കാര്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് ചിന്തിച്ചു: ഈ പൈതൽ ആരാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; കർത്താവിന്‍റെ ശക്തി അവനോട് കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
67 And Zachariah his father was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,
൬൭അവന്‍റെ പിതാവായ സെഖര്യാവ് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിൽ നിറഞ്ഞ് ഇപ്രകാരം പ്രവചിച്ചു:
68 Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel! for he hath visited and redeemed his people,
൬൮“യിസ്രായേലിന്‍റെ ദൈവമായ കർത്താവ് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ. അവിടുന്ന് തന്‍റെ ജനത്തെ സന്ദർശിച്ചു അവരെ സ്വതന്ത്രരാക്കും.
69 and hath raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of David his servant, —
൬൯അവിടുന്ന് ശക്തനായ രക്ഷകനെ തന്‍റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന്‍റെ സന്തതി പരമ്പരകളിൽ നിന്നു നമുക്ക് നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നു
൭൦ആദിമുതൽ തന്‍റെ വിശുദ്ധപ്രവാചകന്മാരിലൂടെ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ. (aiōn g165)
71 salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us,
൭൧അവിടുന്ന് നമ്മെ നമ്മുടെ ശത്രുക്കളിൽ നിന്നും, നമ്മെ വെറുക്കുന്നവരുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും, രക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
72 to accomplish his mercy toward our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant,
൭൨അങ്ങനെ നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോട് കരുണ കാണിക്കുകയും, അവരോട് ചെയ്ത വിശുദ്ധ ഉടമ്പടി നിറവേറ്റുകയും ചെയ്തു.
73 the oath which he swore to Abraham our father,
൭൩നമ്മുടെ പൂർവ്വപിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാമിനോട് സത്യം ചെയ്തതാണു ഈ ഉടമ്പടി.
74 to grant to us, that being delivered from the hand of our enemies, we might worship him without fear,
൭൪നമ്മെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും വിടുവിക്കുവാനും നമ്മുടെ ആയുഷ്ക്കാലം മുഴുവനും ഭയംകൂടാതെ തിരുമുമ്പിൽ
75 in holiness and righteousness before him, all our days.
൭൫വിശുദ്ധിയോടും നീതിയോടും കൂടെ അവനെ സേവിക്കുവാൻ നമുക്കു കൃപ നൽകും എന്നായിരുന്നു ആ ഉടമ്പടി.
76 And thou, child, shalt be called a prophet of the Most High; for thou shalt go in advance before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways,
൭൬നീയോ പൈതലേ, അത്യുന്നതന്‍റെ പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും. എന്തുകൊണ്ടെന്നാൽ കർത്താവിന്‍റെ വഴി ഒരുക്കുവാനും
77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the remission of their sins
൭൭നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ ആർദ്രകരുണയാൽ അവിടുത്തെ ജനത്തിന് പാപമോചനം ലഭിക്കുമെന്ന് അറിയിക്കാനുമായി നീ അവനു മുമ്പായി നടക്കും.
78 through the tender mercy of our God, whereby the day-spring from on high hath visited us,
൭൮സത്യം അറിയാതിരിക്കുന്നവരുടെയും മരണത്തിന്‍റെ ഭീതിയിൽ കഴിയുന്നവരുടെയും മേൽ പ്രകാശിച്ച്, അവരെ സമാധാനമാർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നടത്തേണ്ടതിന്
79 to give light to those sitting in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
൭൯ആ ആർദ്രകരുണയാൽ ഉദയസൂര്യനെ പോലെയുള്ള രക്ഷകൻ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു നമ്മെ സന്ദർശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit; and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel.
൮൦പൈതൽ വളർന്ന് ആത്മാവിൽ ബലപ്പെട്ടു; അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽ ജനങ്ങളുടെ മുൻപിൽ തന്‍റെ പരസ്യശുശ്രൂഷ തുടങ്ങുന്ന നാൾവരെയും മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.
