< Luke 9 >
1 And he called together the twelve, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.
Ó sì pe àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ méjìlá jọ, ó sì fún wọn ní agbára àti àṣẹ lórí àwọn ẹ̀mí èṣù gbogbo, àti láti wo ààrùn sàn.
2 And he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God, and to heal.
Ó sì rán wọn lọ wàásù ìjọba Ọlọ́run, àti láti mú àwọn ọlọkùnrùn láradá.
3 And he said to them, Take nothing for the journey, neither a staff, nor a bag, nor bread, nor money, nor have two coats apiece.
Ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ má ṣe mú nǹkan lọ́wọ́ fún àjò yín, ọ̀pá, tàbí àpò tàbí àkàrà, tàbí owó, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kí ẹ̀yin má sì ṣe ní ẹ̀wù méjì.
4 And into whatever house ye enter, there abide, and from it take your departure.
Ní ilékílé tí ẹ̀yin bá sì wọ̀, níbẹ̀ ni kí ẹ̀yin gbé, láti ibẹ̀ ni kí ẹ̀yin sì ti jáde.
5 And whoever shall not receive you, shake off, when ye leave that city, even the dust from your feet as a testimony against them.
Iye àwọn tí kò bá si gbà yín, nígbà tí ẹ̀yin bá jáde kúrò ní ìlú náà, ẹ gbọn eruku ẹsẹ̀ yín fún ẹ̀rí sí wọn.”
6 And they departed, and went through the towns publishing the glad tidings, and performing cures everywhere.
Wọ́n sì lọ, wọ́n ń la ìletò kọjá wọ́n sì ń wàásù ìyìnrere, wọ́n sì ń mú ènìyàn láradá níbi gbogbo.
7 And Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was taking place, and was perplexed; because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead;
Herodu tetrarki gbọ́ nǹkan gbogbo èyí tí a ṣe láti ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀ wá: ó sì dààmú, nítorí tí àwọn ẹlòmíràn ń wí pé, Johanu ni ó jíǹde kúrò nínú òkú,

Àwọn ẹlòmíràn sì wí pé Elijah ni ó farahàn; àwọn ẹlòmíràn sì wí pé, ọ̀kan nínú àwọn wòlíì àtijọ́ ni ó jíǹde.
9 But Herod said, John I beheaded; but who is this, about whom I hear such things? And he sought to see him.
Herodu sì wí pé, “Johanu ni mo ti bẹ́ lórí, ṣùgbọ́n ta ni èyí tí èmi ń gbọ́ irú nǹkan wọ̀nyí sí?” Ó sì ń fẹ́ láti rí i.
10 And the apostles returned and told him what they had done; and taking them with him, he withdrew privately to a city called Bethsaida.
Nígbà tí àwọn aposteli sì padà dé, wọ́n ròyìn ohun gbogbo fún un tí wọ́n ti ṣe. Ó sì mú wọn, lọ sí apá kan níbi tí a ń pè ní Betisaida.
11 But the multitudes, when they knew it, followed him; and he welcomed them, and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.
Nígbà tí ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn sì mọ̀, wọ́n tẹ̀lé e: ó sì gbà wọ́n, ó sì sọ̀rọ̀ ìjọba Ọlọ́run fún wọn; àwọn tí ó fẹ́ ìmúláradá, ni ó sì mú láradá.
12 And when the day began to decline, the twelve came and said to him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages around, and the open country, and lodge, and get food; for we are here in a desert place.
Nígbà tí ọjọ́ bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí rọlẹ̀, àwọn méjìlá wá, wọ́n sì wí fún un pé, “Tú ìjọ ènìyàn ká, kí wọn lè lọ sí ìletò àti sí ìlú yíká, kí wọn lè wò, àti kí wọn lè wá oúnjẹ: nítorí ijù ni àwa sá wà níhìn-ín.”
13 But he said to them, Do ye give them food. And they said, We have not more than five loaves and two fishes, unless we ourselves should go and buy food for l all these people.
Ṣùgbọ́n ó wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ fi oúnjẹ fún wọn jẹ!” Wọ́n sì wí fún un pé, “Àwa kò ní ju ìṣù àkàrà márùn-ún lọ, pẹ̀lú ẹja méjì: bí kò ṣe pé àwa lọ ra oúnjẹ fún gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí.”
14 They were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them lie down in companies of fifty.
Nítorí àwọn ọkùnrin náà tó ìwọ̀n ẹgbẹ̀rún márùn-ún ènìyàn. Ó sì wí fún àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ pé, “Kí wọ́n mú wọn jókòó lẹ́gbẹ̀ẹ̀gbẹ́, ní àràádọ́ta.”
15 And they did so, and made them all lie down.
Wọ́n sì ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀, wọ́n sì mú gbogbo wọn jókòó.
16 Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and broke and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude.
Nígbà náà ni ó mú ìṣù àkàrà márùn-ún, àti ẹja méjì náà, nígbà tí ó gbé ojú sókè ọ̀run, ó súre sí i, ó sì bù ú, ó sì fi fún àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, kí wọn gbé e kalẹ̀ níwájú àwọn ènìyàn.
17 And they ate, and were all filled; and what remained to them of fragments was taken up, twelve baskets.
Wọ́n sì jẹ, gbogbo wọn sì yó: wọ́n ṣa agbọ̀n méjìlá jọ nínú àjẹkù tí ó kù.
18 And it came to pass as he was in a private place praying, that his disciples were with him; and he asked them, saying, Who do the multitudes say that I am?
Ó sì ṣe, nígbà tí ó ku òun nìkan ó gbàdúrà, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ sì wà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀: ó sì bi wọ́n pé, “Ta ni àwọn ènìyàn ń fi mí pè?”
19 And they answering said, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and others, that one of the old prophets hath risen.
Wọ́n sì dáhùn wí pé, “Johanu Onítẹ̀bọmi; ṣùgbọ́n ẹlòmíràn ní Elijah ni, àti àwọn ẹlòmíràn wí pé, ọ̀kan nínú àwọn wòlíì àtijọ́ ni ó jíǹde.”
20 And he said to them, But who do ye say that I am? And Peter answering said, The Christ of God.
Ó sì bi wọ́n pé, “Ṣùgbọ́n ta ni ẹ̀yin ń fi èmi pè?” Peteru sì dáhùn, wí pe, “Kristi ti Ọlọ́run.”
21 But he strictly charged them, and commanded them to tell this to no one;
Ó sì kìlọ̀ fún wọn, pé, kí wọn má ṣe sọ èyí fún ẹnìkan.
22 saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be put to death, and rise again on the third day.
Ó sì wí pé, “Ọmọ ènìyàn yóò jìyà ohun púpọ̀, a ó sì kọ̀ ọ́ láti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn alàgbà, olórí àlùfáà àti láti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn akọ̀wé, a ó sì pa á, ní ọjọ́ kẹta a ó sì jí i dìde.”
23 And he said to all, If any one chooseth to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Ó sì wí fún gbogbo wọn pé, “Bí ẹnìkan bá ń fẹ́ láti máa tọ̀ mí lẹ́yìn, kí ó sẹ́ ara rẹ̀, kí ó sì gbé àgbélébùú rẹ̀ ní ọjọ́ gbogbo, kí ó sì máa tọ̀ mí lẹ́yìn.
24 For whoever chooseth to save his life, will lose it; and whoever loseth his life for my sake, he will save it.
Nítorí ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá fẹ́ gba ọkàn rẹ̀ là, yóò sọ ọ́ nù: ṣùgbọ́n ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá sọ ọkàn rẹ̀ nù nítorí mi, òun náà ni yóò sì gbà á là.
25 For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit himself?
Nítorí pé èrè kín ni fún ènìyàn, bí ó jèrè gbogbo ayé, tí ó sì sọ ara rẹ̀ nù tàbí kí ó fi ṣòfò.
26 For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of man be ashamed, when be cometh in his glory, and that of his Father, and of the holy angels.
Nítorí ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá tijú mi, àti ọ̀rọ̀ mi, òun ni Ọmọ Ènìyàn yóò tijú rẹ̀ nígbà tí ó bá dé inú ògo tirẹ̀, àti ti baba rẹ̀, àti ti àwọn angẹli mímọ́.
27 And I tell you in truth, that there are some of those standing here who will not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God.
“Ṣùgbọ́n èmi wí fún yín nítòótọ́, ẹlòmíràn dúró níhìn-ín yìí, tí kì yóò rí ikú, títí wọn ó fi rí ìjọba Ọlọ́run.”
28 And it came to pass about eight days after this discourse, that he took with him Peter and John and James, and went up into the mountain to pray.
Ó sì ṣe bí ìwọ̀n ọjọ́ mẹ́jọ lẹ́yìn ọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí, ó mú Peteru àti Johanu àti Jakọbu, ó gun orí òkè lọ láti lọ gbàdúrà.
29 And while he was praying, the appearance of his countenance was changed, and his raiment became white and glistening.
Bí ó sì ti ń gbàdúrà, àwọ̀ ojú rẹ̀ yípadà, aṣọ rẹ̀ sì funfun gbòò,
30 And lo! two men were talking with him, who were Moses and Elijah;
Sì kíyèsi i, àwọn ọkùnrin méjì, Mose àti Elijah, wọ́n ń bá a sọ̀rọ̀,
31 who appeared in glory, and spoke of his departure which he was about to fulfill in Jerusalem.
tí wọ́n fi ara hàn nínú ògo, wọ́n sì ń sọ̀rọ̀ ikú rẹ̀, tí òun yóò ṣe parí ní Jerusalẹmu.
32 But Peter and those who were with him were weighed down with sleep. But when they awoke, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.
Ṣùgbọ́n ojú Peteru àti ti àwọn tí ń bẹ lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ wúwo fún oorun. Nígbà tí wọ́n sì tají, wọ́n rí ògo rẹ̀, àti ti àwọn ọkùnrin méjèèjì tí ó bá a dúró.
33 And it came to pass as they were parting from him, that Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tents, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah; —not knowing what he said.
Ó sì ṣe, nígbà tí wọ́n lọ kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, Peteru wí fún Jesu pé, “Olùkọ́, ó dára fún wa kí a máa gbé ìhín yìí, jẹ́ kí àwa pa àgọ́ mẹ́ta, ọ̀kan fún ìwọ, àti ọ̀kan fún Mose, àti ọ̀kan fún Elijah.” (Kò mọ èyí tí òun ń wí.)
34 But as he was saying this, there came a cloud and overshadowed them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.
Bí ó ti ń sọ báyìí, ìkùùkuu kan wá, ó síji bò wọ́n: ẹ̀rù sì bà wọ́n nígbà tí wọ́n ń wọ inú ìkùùkuu lọ.
35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, “This is my chosen Son; hear him.”
Ohùn kan sì ti inú ìkùùkuu wá wí pé, “Èyí yìí ni àyànfẹ́ ọmọ mi: ẹ máa gbọ́ tirẹ̀.”
36 And when the voice had come, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it secret, and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.
Nígbà tí ohùn náà sì dákẹ́, Jesu nìkan ṣoṣo ni a rí. Wọ́n sì pa á mọ́, wọn kò sì sọ ohunkóhun tí wọ́n rí fún ẹnikẹ́ni ní ọjọ́ wọ̀nyí.
37 And it came to pass that on the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great multitude met him.
Ó sì ṣe, ní ọjọ́ kejì, nígbà tí wọ́n sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá láti orí òkè, ọ̀pọ̀ àwọn ènìyàn wá pàdé rẹ̀.
38 And lo! a man from the multitude cried out, saying, Teacher, I beseech thee, look upon my son, for he is my only child;
Sì kíyèsi i, ọkùnrin kan nínú ìjọ ènìyàn kígbe sókè pé, “Olùkọ́ mo bẹ̀ ọ́, wo ọmọ mi: nítorí ọmọ mi kan ṣoṣo náà ni.
39 and lo! a spirit seizeth him, and suddenly crieth out, and convulseth him so that he foameth, and it departeth from him hardly, taking away all his strength.
Sì kíyèsi i, ẹ̀mí èṣù a máa mú un, a sì máa kígbe lójijì; a sì máa nà án tàntàn títí yóò fi yọ ìfófó lẹ́nu, a máa pa á lára, kì í tilẹ̀ ń fẹ́ fi í sílẹ̀ lọ.
40 And I besought thy disciples to cast it out, and they could not.
Mo sì bẹ àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ láti lé e jáde: wọn kò sì lè ṣe é.”
41 And Jesus answering said, O unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you? Bring thy son hither.
Jesu sì dáhùn pé, “Ìran aláìgbàgbọ́ àti àrékérekè, èmi ó ti bá yín gbé pẹ́ tó? Èmi yóò sì ti ṣe sùúrù fún yín pẹ́ tó? Fa ọmọ rẹ wá níhìn-ín yìí.”
42 And while he was yet coming, the demon threw him down, and convulsed him. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him to his father.
Bí ó sì ti ń bọ̀, ẹ̀mí èṣù náà gbé e ṣánlẹ̀, ó sì nà án tàntàn. Jesu sì bá ẹ̀mí àìmọ́ náà wí, ó sì mú ọmọ náà láradá, ó sì fà á lé baba rẹ̀ lọ́wọ́.
43 And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they were all wondering at all the things which he did, he said to his disciples,
Ẹnu sì ya gbogbo wọn sí iṣẹ́ títóbi Ọlọ́run, ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí hà sì ń ṣe gbogbo wọn sí ohun gbogbo tí Jesu ṣe, ó wí fún àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ pé,
44 As for you, let these words sink into your ears; for the Son of man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men.
“Ẹ jẹ́ kí ọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí wọ̀ yín létí, nítorí a ó fi Ọmọ Ènìyàn lé àwọn ènìyàn lọ́wọ́.”
45 But they knew not the meaning of these words, and it was hidden from them, that they might not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask him about these words.
Ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ náà kò yé wọn, ó sì ṣú wọn lójú, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọn kò sì mọ̀ ọ́n: ẹ̀rù sì ń bà wọ́n láti béèrè ìdí ọ̀rọ̀ náà.
46 And there arose a reasoning among them, which of them was greatest.
Iyàn kan sì dìde láàrín wọn, ní ti ẹni tí yóò ṣe olórí nínú wọn.
47 And Jesus knowing the reasoning of their heart, took a child and set him by his side,
Nígbà tí Jesu sì mọ èrò ọkàn wọn, ó mú ọmọdé kan, ó gbé e jókòó lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.
48 and said to them, Whoever receiveth this child in my name, receiveth me; and whoever receiveth me, receiveth him who sent me. For he that is least among you all, he is great.
Ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá gba ọmọdé yìí nítorí orúkọ mi, ó gbà mí: àti ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá gbà mí, ó gba ẹni tí ó rán mi: nítorí ẹni tí ó bá kéré jù nínú gbogbo yín, òun náà ni yóò pọ̀jù.”
49 And John answering said, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name, and we forbade him, because he doth not follow in our company.
Johanu sì dáhùn ó sì wí fún un pé, “Olùkọ́, àwa rí ẹnìkan ó ń fi orúkọ rẹ lé àwọn ẹ̀mí èṣù jáde; àwa sì dá a lẹ́kun, nítorí tí kò bá wa tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn.”
50 But Jesus said to him, Forbid him not; for he that is not against you is for you.
Jesu sì wí fún un, pé, “Má ṣe dá a lẹ́kun mọ́: nítorí ẹni tí kò bá lòdì sí i yín, ó wà fún yín.”
51 And it came to pass, when the time was near for his being received up, that he himself steadily set his face to go to Jerusalem.
Nígbà tí ọjọ́ àti gbà á sókè ń súnmọ́, ó pinnu láti lọ sí Jerusalẹmu.
52 And he sent messengers before him; and they went and entered a city of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
Ó sì rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́ lọ sí iwájú rẹ̀. Nígbà tí wọ́n sì lọ wọ́n wọ ìletò kan tí í ṣe ti ará Samaria láti pèsè sílẹ̀ dè é.
53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as if he were going to Jerusalem.
Wọn kò sì gbà á, nítorí pé ó ń lọ sí Jerusalẹmu.
54 And the disciples James and John, on seeing it, said, Lord, wilt thou have us bid fire come down from heaven, and consume them?
Nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ Jakọbu àti Johanu sì rí i, wọ́n ní, “Olúwa wa, jẹ́ kí a pe iná láti ọ̀run wá, kí a sì pa wọ́n run, bí Elijah ti ṣe?”
55 But he turned and rebuked them.
Ṣùgbọ́n Jesu yípadà, ó sì bá wọn wí.
56 And they went to another village.
Lẹ́yìn náà Jesu àti àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ sì lọ sí ìletò mìíràn.
57 And as they were traveling on the way, one said to him, I will follow thee wherever thou goest.
Bí wọ́n ti ń lọ lọ́nà, ọkùnrin kan wí fún un pé, “Olúwa, Èmi ń fẹ́ láti máa tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn ní ibikíbi tí ìwọ bá ń lọ.”
58 And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have lodging-places; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
Jesu sì wí fún un pé, “Àwọn kọ̀lọ̀kọ̀lọ̀ ní ihò, àwọn ẹyẹ ojú ọ̀run sì ní ìtẹ́; ṣùgbọ́n Ọmọ Ènìyàn kò ní ibi tí yóò fi orí rẹ̀ lé.”
59 And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Suffer me first to go and bury my father.
Ó sì wí fún ẹlòmíràn pé, “Máa tọ̀ mí lẹ́yìn.” Ṣùgbọ́n èyí wí fún un pé, “Olúwa, jẹ́ kí èmi lọ sìnkú baba mi ná.”
60 And he said to him, Let the dead bury their own dead; but go thou and carry the tidings of the kingdom of God.
Jesu sì wí fún un pé, “Jẹ́ kí àwọn òkú máa sìnkú ara wọn, ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ lọ kí o sì máa wàásù ìjọba Ọlọ́run.”
61 And another also said, I will follow thee, Lord; but first let me bid farewell to those who are in my house.
Ẹlòmíràn sì wí fún un pé, “Olúwa, èmi yóò tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn ṣùgbọ́n jẹ́ kí n kọ́kọ́ lọ dágbére fún àwọn ará ilé mi.”
62 And Jesus said to him, No one who looketh back after putting his hand to the plough is fit for the kingdom of God.
Jesu sì wí fún un pé, “Kò sí ẹni, tí ó fi ọwọ́ rẹ̀ lé ohun èlò ìtulẹ̀, tí ó sì wo ẹ̀yìn, tí ó yẹ fún ìjọba Ọlọ́run.”
