Luke 7
1 When he had ended all his discourse in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.
౧ఆయన తన మాటలన్నీ ప్రజలకు పూర్తిగా వినిపించి కపెర్నహూముకి వచ్చాడు.
2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick, and about to die.
౨అక్కడ ఒక శతాధిపతికి ఇష్టమైన సేవకుడు ఒకడికి జబ్బు చేసి చావడానికి సిద్ధంగా ఉన్నాడు.
3 And having heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, and besought him to come and save his servant.
౩ఈ శతాధిపతి యేసును గురించి విని, ఆయన వచ్చి తన సేవకుణ్ణి బాగు చేయాలని ఆయనను బతిమాలడానికి యూదుల పెద్దలను ఆయన దగ్గరికి పంపించాడు.
4 And they came to Jesus, and besought him earnestly, saying, He is worthy that thou shouldst do this for him;
౪వారు యేసు దగ్గరికి వచ్చి, “నువ్వు తప్పక ఈ మేలు చేయాలి. ఎందుకంటే ఈ వ్యక్తి చాలా యోగ్యుడు.
5 for he loveth our nation, and himself built the synagogue for us.
౫అతడు మన ప్రజలను ప్రేమించాడు. మన సమాజ మందిరాన్ని మన కోసం కట్టించింది ఇతడే” అని ఆయనను ఎంతో బతిమాలారు.
6 And Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying, Lord, trouble not thyself; for I am not worthy that thou shouldst come under my roof;
౬కాబట్టి యేసు వారితో వెళ్ళాడు. ఆయన అతని ఇంటి దగ్గరలోకి వచ్చినప్పుడు, ఆ శతాధిపతి తన స్నేహితులను కొందరిని పంపి వారితో యేసుకు ఇలా చెప్పించాడు. “ప్రభూ, నువ్వు శ్రమ తీసుకోవద్దు. నువ్వు నా ఇంట్లోకి వచ్చేటంత యోగ్యత నాకు లేదు.
7 on which account I did not think myself worthy to come to thee; but command with a word, and let my servant be healed.
౭అలాగే నీ దగ్గరికి వచ్చే యోగ్యత కూడా నాకు లేదు. నువ్వు మాట మాత్రం చెప్పు. నా సేవకుడికి పూర్తిగా నయమవుతుంది.
8 For even I am a man set under authority, having soldiers under me; and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
౮నేను కూడా అధికారం కింద ఉన్నవాణ్ణే. నా చేతి కింద సైనికులు ఉన్నారు. నేను ఒకణ్ణి ‘వెళ్ళు’ అంటే వెళ్తాడు, ఒకణ్ణి ‘రా’ అంటే వస్తాడు. నా సేవకుణ్ణి ఫలానా పని చేయమంటే చేస్తాడు.”
9 And Jesus hearing this, wondered at him; and turning round said to the multitude that followed him, I say to you, Not even in Israel have I found such faith.
౯యేసు ఈ మాటలు విని, ఆ వ్యక్తి విషయం ఆశ్చర్య పోయాడు. తన వెనక వస్తున్న జనసమూహం వైపు తిరిగి, “ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజల్లో కూడా ఇంత గొప్ప విశ్వాసం నేను చూడలేదని మీతో చెబుతున్నాను” అన్నాడు.
10 And they who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well.
౧౦అతడు పంపిన వారు తిరిగి వచ్చి ఆ పనివాడు జబ్బు నయమై పూర్తి ఆరోగ్యంతో ఉండడం చూశారు.
11 And it came to pass the day after, that he was going to a city called Nain; and many of his disciples were with him, and a great multitude.
౧౧ఇది జరిగిన తరువాత ఆయన నాయీను అనే ఒక ఊరికి వెళ్తున్నాడు. ఆయన శిష్యులు, ఇంకా పెద్ద జనసమూహం ఆయనతో వెళ్తున్నారు.
12 And as he came near the gate of the city, lo! there was carried out dead an only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a great multitude from the city was with her.
౧౨ఆయన ఆ ఊరి పొలిమేరకు వచ్చినప్పుడు కొందరు చనిపోయిన వాణ్ణి మోసుకుపోతూ ఎదురయ్యారు. చనిపోయిన వాడు అతని తల్లికి ఒక్కగానొక్క కొడుకు. ఆమె వితంతువు. గ్రామస్తులు చాలామంది ఆమెతో ఉన్నారు.
13 And when the Lord saw her, he was moved with compassion for her, and said to her, Weep not.
౧౩ప్రభువు ఆమెను చూసి ఆమెపై జాలిపడి, “ఏడవ వద్దు” అని ఆమెకు చెప్పి, దగ్గరికి వచ్చి ఆ పాడెను ముట్టుకున్నాడు. దాంతో దాన్ని మోసేవారు నిలబడి పోయారు.
14 And he came up, and touched the bier; and they who bore it stood still; and he said, Young man, I say to thee, Rise.
౧౪ఆయన, “అబ్బాయ్, నేను చెబుతున్నాను, లే!” అన్నాడు.
15 And he that was dead sat up and began to speak; and he gave him to his mother.
౧౫ఆ చనిపోయిన వాడు లేచి కూర్చుని మాట్లాడడం మొదలుపెట్టాడు. ఆయన అతణ్ణి ఆ తల్లికి అప్పచెప్పాడు.
16 And fear seized on all, and they gave glory to God, saying, A great prophet hath risen up among us; and, God hath visited his people.
౧౬అందరూ భయంతో నిండిపోయి, “మనలో గొప్ప ప్రవక్త లేచాడు. దేవుడు తన ప్రజలను సందర్శించాడు” అంటూ దేవుణ్ణి కీర్తించారు.
17 And this report about him went forth in all Judaea, and in all the neighboring country.
౧౭ఆయనను గురించిన ఈ సమాచారం యూదయ ప్రాంతమంతటా ప్రాంతాల్లో వ్యాపించింది.
18 And the disciples of John told him all these things.
౧౮యోహాను శిష్యులు ఈ సంగతులన్నటినీ యోహానుకు తెలియజేశారు.
19 And calling to him two of his disciples, John sent them to the Lord, saying, Art thou he that is to come, or are we to look for another?
౧౯అప్పుడు యోహాను తన శిష్యుల్లో ఇద్దరిని పిలిచి, “రావలసిన వాడివి నువ్వేనా? లేక మరొకరి కోసం మేము ఎదురు చూడాలా?” అని అడగడానికి వారిని ప్రభువు దగ్గరికి పంపించాడు.
20 And the men came to him and said, John the Baptist hath sent us to thee, saying, Art thou he that is to come, or are we to look for another?
౨౦వారు ఆయన దగ్గరికి వచ్చి, “‘రావలసిన వాడివి నువ్వేనా? లేక మరొకరి కోసం ఎదురు చూడాలా?’ అని అడగమని మమ్మల్ని బాప్తిసమిచ్చే యోహాను నీ దగ్గరికి పంపాడు” అని చెప్పారు.
21 In that hour he cured many of diseases, and plagues, and evil spirits, and to many who were blind he gave sight.
౨౧అదే సమయంలో ఆయన అనేకమంది రోగులనూ, బాధితులనూ, దయ్యాలు పట్టిన వారిని బాగు చేస్తూ ఉన్నాడు. గుడ్డివారికి చూపు ప్రసాదిస్తూ ఉన్నాడు.
22 And he answered and said to them, Go and tell John what ye have seen and heard; that the blind receive sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor good tidings are brought;
౨౨అప్పుడాయన వారికి ఇలా జవాబిచ్చాడు, “వెళ్ళి మీరు చూసిన వాటినీ వినిన వాటినీ యోహానుకు చెప్పండి. గుడ్డివారు చూస్తున్నారు, కుంటివారు నడుస్తున్నారు, కుష్ట రోగులు బాగుపడుతున్నారు, చెవిటివారు వింటున్నారు. చనిపోయిన వారు తిరిగి ప్రాణంతో లేస్తున్నారు. పేదవాళ్ళకు సువార్త ప్రకటన జరుగుతూ ఉంది.
23 and blessed is he, whoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.
౨౩నా విషయంలో అభ్యంతరాలేమీ లేని వాడు ధన్యుడు.”
24 And when the messengers of John had departed, he began to say to the multitudes concerning John, What have ye gone out into the wilderness to see? the reeds shaken by the wind?
౨౪యోహాను దగ్గర నుండి వచ్చిన శిష్యులు వెళ్ళిపోయిన తరువాత యేసు యోహాను గురించి జన సమూహంతో ఇలా చెప్పాడు, “మీరు ఏం చూద్దామని అడవిలోకి వెళ్ళారు? గాలికి ఊగే రెల్లునా?
25 But what have ye gone out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Lo! they who wear gorgeous apparel, and live luxuriously, are in kings' palaces.
౨౫అది కాకుంటే మరేం చూడ్డానికి వెళ్ళారు? సన్నని వస్త్రాలు ధరించుకున్నవాడినా? వినండి, విలువైన వస్త్రాలు ధరించుకుని సుఖంగా జీవించే వారు రాజ మందిరాల్లో ఉంటారు.
26 But what have ye gone out to see? A prophet? Yea, I say to you, and more than a prophet.
౨౬అది కాకపోతే ఇంకేం చూద్దామని వెళ్ళారు? ప్రవక్తనా? అవును. కానీ యోహాను ఒక ప్రవక్త కంటే గొప్పవాడని మీకు చెబుతున్నాను.
27 This is he of whom it is written, “Lo! I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.”
౨౭‘చూడు! నేను నా దూతను నీకు ముందుగా పంపుతున్నాను, అతడు నీకు ముందుగా నీ మార్గాన్ని సిద్ధపరుస్తాడు’ అని ఎవరిని గురించి రాశారో అతడే ఈ యోహాను.
28 I say to you, Among those born of women there is no greater prophet than John; but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
౨౮స్త్రీ గర్భాన పుట్టిన వారిలో యోహాను కంటే గొప్పవాడెవడూ లేడు. అయినా దేవుని రాజ్యంలో అల్పుడు అతని కంటే గొప్పవాడని మీతో చెబుతున్నాను.”
29 And all the people when they heard him, and the publicans, acknowledged God as righteous by being baptized with the baptism of John.
౨౯ప్రజలందరూ, పన్ను వసూలుదారులూ యోహాను సందేశం విని, దేవుడు నీతిమంతుడని అంగీకరించారు. అతని ద్వారా బాప్తిసం పొందారు.
30 But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the purpose of God toward themselves, not being baptized by him.
౩౦కానీ పరిసయ్యులూ, ధర్మశాస్త్రాన్ని ఉపదేశించే వారూ అతని చేత బాప్తిసం పొందకుండా వారి జీవితాల్లో దేవుని సంకల్పాన్ని నిరాకరించారు.
31 To what then shall I compare the men of this generation, and what are they like?
౩౧కాబట్టి ఈ తరం మనుషులను నేను దేనితో పోల్చాలి? వీళ్ళు దేనిలాగా ఉన్నారు?
32 They are like children sitting in the market-place, and calling one to another, saying, We piped to you, and ye did not dance; we sung a dirge, and ye did not weep.
౩౨సంతవీధుల్లో కూర్చుని, ‘మేము వేణువు ఊదాం, మీరు నాట్యం చేయలేదు, ఏడుపు పాట పాడాం, మీరేమో ఏడవలేదు’ అని ఒకరితో ఒకరు చెప్పుకుంటూ ఆటలాడుకునే చిన్న పిల్లల్లా ఉన్నారు.
33 For John the Baptist hath come not eating bread, nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a demon.
౩౩బాప్తిసమిచ్చే యోహాను రొట్టెలు తినకుండా ద్రాక్షారసం తాగకుండా ఉన్నాడని ‘వీడికి దయ్యం పట్టింది’ అని మీరు అంటున్నారు.
34 The Son of man hath come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold, a glutton and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
౩౪మనుష్య కుమారుడు తింటూ తాగుతూ ఉన్నాడని ‘వీడు తిండిబోతూ, తాగుబోతూ, సుంకరులకూ పాపులకూ స్నేహితుడు’ అంటున్నారు.
35 But wisdom is acknowledged by all her children.
౩౫అయితే జ్ఞానం దాని పిల్లలను బట్టి జ్ఞానమని తీర్పు పొందుతుంది.”
36 And one of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him; and he went into the Pharisee's house, and reclined at the table.
౩౬పరిసయ్యుల్లో ఒకడు తనతో భోజనం చేయాలని ఆయనను ఆహ్వానించాడు. ఆయన ఆ పరిసయ్యుడి ఇంటికి వెళ్ళి భోజనానికి కూర్చున్నాడు.
37 And lo! a woman who was in the city, a sinner, learning that he was at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster-bottle of ointment,
౩౭ఆ ఊరిలో ఉన్న పాపాత్మురాలైన ఒక స్త్రీ, యేసు పరిసయ్యుడి ఇంట్లో భోజనానికి వచ్చాడని తెలుసుకుని, ఒక బుడ్డిలో అత్తరు తీసుకు వచ్చి
38 and standing behind at his feet, weeping, began to wet his feet with tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
౩౮ఆయనకు వెనుకగా ఆయన పాదాల దగ్గర ఏడుస్తూ నిలబడింది. ఆమె కన్నీళ్ళతో ఆయన పాదాలు తడిసి పోయాయి. ఆమె తన వెంట్రుకలతో ఆయన పాదాలు తుడిచి వాటిని ముద్దు పెట్టుకుని వాటికి అత్తరు పూసింది.
39 And the Pharisee who had invited him, when he saw this, said within himself, This man, if he were a prophet, would know who, and what sort of woman, this is that toucheth him; for she is a sinner.
౩౯ఆయనను పిలిచిన పరిసయ్యుడు అది చూసి, “ఈయన ప్రవక్తే అయితే తనను ముట్టుకున్న స్త్రీ ఎవరో, ఎలాంటిదో తెలుసుకోగలడు. ఈమె పాపాత్మురాలు” అని తనలో తాను అనుకున్నాడు.
40 And Jesus answering said to him, Simon, I have somewhat to say to thee. And he saith, Teacher, say on.
౪౦దానికి యేసు, “సీమోనూ, నీతో ఒక మాట చెప్పాలి” అని అతనితో అన్నాడు. అతడు, “బోధకా, చెప్పు” అన్నాడు.
41 A certain money-lender had two debtors; one owed five hundred denaries, and the other fifty.
౪౧అప్పుడు యేసు, “అప్పులిచ్చే ఒకడి దగ్గర ఇద్దరు అప్పు చేశారు. వారిలో ఒకడు ఐదువందల వెండి నాణేలూ మరొకడు యాభై వెండి నాణేలూ బాకీ పడ్డారు.
42 When they had nothing to pay, he freely remitted the debt of both. Which of them, now, will love him the most?
౪౨ఆ అప్పు తీర్చడానికి వారి దగ్గర ఏమీ లేదు కాబట్టి ఆ వ్యక్తి వారిద్దరినీ క్షమించేశాడు. కాబట్టి వీరిద్దరిలో అతణ్ణి ఎవరు ఎక్కువగా ప్రేమిస్తారో చెప్పు?” అని అడిగాడు.
43 Simon answering said, He, I suppose, to whom he remitted the most. And he said to him, Thou hast judged rightly.
౪౩అందుకు సీమోను, “అతడెవరిని ఎక్కువ క్షమించాడో వాడే అని నాకు అనిపిస్తుంది” అన్నాడు. దానికి యేసు, “సరిగ్గా ఆలోచించావు” అని అతనితో చెప్పి,
44 And turning to the woman, he said to Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered thy house, no water didst thou give me for my feet; but she wet my feet with tears, and wiped them with her hair.
౪౪ఆ స్త్రీ వైపు తిరిగి, సీమోనుతో ఇలా అన్నాడు, “ఈ స్త్రీని చూస్తున్నావు కదా. నేను నీ ఇంట్లోకి వచ్చినప్పుడు నువ్వు కాళ్ళు కడుక్కోడానికి నాకు నీళ్ళివ్వలేదు, కానీ ఈమె కన్నీళ్ళతో నా పాదాలు తడిపి తన తల వెంట్రుకలతో తుడిచింది.
45 No kiss didst thou give me; but she, from the time I came in, did not cease to kiss my feet.
౪౫నువ్వు నన్ను ముద్దు పెట్టుకోలేదు, కానీ నేను లోపలికి వచ్చిన దగ్గర్నించి ఈమె నా పాదాలను ముద్దు పెట్టుకోవడం ఆపలేదు.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint; but she anointed my feet with costly ointment.
౪౬నువ్వు నా తలకి నూనె పూయలేదు కానీ ఈమె నా పాదాలకు అత్తరు పూసింది.
47 Wherefore, I say to thee, her many sins have been forgiven; for she loved much; but he to whom little is forgiven loveth little.
౪౭దీన్ని బట్టి నేను చెప్పేదేమిటంటే ఎక్కువ పాపాలు చేసిన ఈమె అధికమైన క్షమాపణ పొందింది, అధికంగా ప్రేమించింది. ఎవరికి కొంచెం క్షమాపణ దొరుకుతుందో వాడు కొంచెమే ప్రేమిస్తాడు” అని చెప్పాడు.
48 And he said to her, Thy sins have been forgiven.
౪౮తరువాత యేసు ఆమెతో, “నీ పాపాలకు క్షమాపణ దొరికింది” అన్నాడు.
49 And those who were at table with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that even forgiveth sins?
౪౯అప్పుడు ఆయనతో పాటు భోజనానికి కూర్చున్న వారు, “పాపాలు క్షమించడానికి ఇతనెవరు?” అని తమలో తాము అనుకోవడం మొదలు పెట్టారు.
50 But he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
౫౦అప్పుడు ఆయన, “నీ విశ్వాసం నిన్ను రక్షించింది. శాంతిగా వెళ్ళు” అని ఆమెతో చెప్పాడు.
