Luke 7
1 When he had ended all his discourse in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.
Als Jesus diese ganze Rede, die auch das Volk vernahm, beendet hatte, ging er nach Kapernaum hinein.
2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick, and about to die.
Dort lag eines Hauptmanns Knecht, den sein Herr besonders schätzte, so schwer krank, daß er dem Tod nahe war.
3 And having heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, and besought him to come and save his servant.
Als nun der Hauptmann von Jesus hörte, sandte er einige der jüdischen Ältesten zu ihm und ließ ihn bitten, er möge kommen und seinen Knecht gesund machen.
4 And they came to Jesus, and besought him earnestly, saying, He is worthy that thou shouldst do this for him;
Die erschienen bei Jesus und baten ihn dringend, indem sie geltend machten: "Er verdient es wirklich, daß du ihm seinen Wunsch erfüllst.
5 for he loveth our nation, and himself built the synagogue for us.
Denn er hat unser Volk lieb, und das Versammlungshaus hat er uns aus seinen Mitteln erbaut."
6 And Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying, Lord, trouble not thyself; for I am not worthy that thou shouldst come under my roof;
Jesus ging mit. Als er aber nicht mehr weit von dem Haus war, da ließ ihm der Hauptmann durch einige seiner Freunde sagen: "Herr, bemühe dich nicht; denn ich bin nicht wert, daß du unter mein Dach trittst!
7 on which account I did not think myself worthy to come to thee; but command with a word, and let my servant be healed.
Darum habe ich mich auch nicht für würdig gehalten, zu dir zu kommen. Sondern sprich nur ein Wort, so muß mein Diener genesen!
8 For even I am a man set under authority, having soldiers under me; and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
Denn auch ich, obwohl einem Vorgesetzten untergeben, habe Kriegsleute unter mir. Sage ich nun zu dem einen: 'Geh!', so geht er, zu dem anderen: 'Komm!', so kommt er, und zu meinem Knecht: 'Tue das!', so tut er's."
9 And Jesus hearing this, wondered at him; and turning round said to the multitude that followed him, I say to you, Not even in Israel have I found such faith.
Als Jesus das hörte, verwunderte er sich über ihn; er wandte sich zu dem Volk, das ihn begleitete, und sprach: "Ich sage euch: Nicht einmal in Israel habe ich solchen Glauben gefunden."
10 And they who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well.
Bei ihrer Rückkehr in des Hauptmanns Haus fanden die Boten den kranken Knecht gesund.
11 And it came to pass the day after, that he was going to a city called Nain; and many of his disciples were with him, and a great multitude.
Bald darauf begab sich Jesus auf den Weg zu einer Stadt mit Namen Nain, und mit ihm zogen seine Jünger und viel Volk.
12 And as he came near the gate of the city, lo! there was carried out dead an only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a great multitude from the city was with her.
Als er sich dem Stadttor näherte, da trug man gerade einen Toten hinaus; der war der einzige Sohn seiner Mutter, und sie war eine Witwe. Und sehr viele Leute aus der Stadt begleiteten sie.
13 And when the Lord saw her, he was moved with compassion for her, and said to her, Weep not.
Als der Herr sie sah, empfand er tiefes Mitgefühl mit ihr, und er sprach zu ihr: "Weine nicht!"
14 And he came up, and touched the bier; and they who bore it stood still; and he said, Young man, I say to thee, Rise.
Dann trat er an den Sarg und berührte ihn. Da machten die Träger Halt. Und er sprach: "Jüngling, ich sage dir: wach auf!"
15 And he that was dead sat up and began to speak; and he gave him to his mother.
Da setzte sich der Tote aufrecht hin und begann zu reden. Und Jesus gab ihn seiner Mutter wieder.
16 And fear seized on all, and they gave glory to God, saying, A great prophet hath risen up among us; and, God hath visited his people.
Alle aber waren von heiliger Scheu ergriffen und priesen Gott. Die einen riefen: "Ein großer Prophet ist unter uns aufgetreten!" Andere sagten: "Gott hat sein Volk in Gnaden angesehen!"
17 And this report about him went forth in all Judaea, and in all the neighboring country.
Die Kunde von dieser seiner Tat verbreitete sich im ganzen jüdischen Land und in allen angrenzenden Gebieten.
18 And the disciples of John told him all these things.
Von alledem erhielt auch Johannes durch seine Jünger Nachricht. Da rief er zwei von ihnen zu sich,
19 And calling to him two of his disciples, John sent them to the Lord, saying, Art thou he that is to come, or are we to look for another?
sandte sie zum Herrn und ließ ihn fragen: "Bist du es, der kommen soll, oder müssen wir auf einen anderen warten?"
20 And the men came to him and said, John the Baptist hath sent us to thee, saying, Art thou he that is to come, or are we to look for another?
Die Männer erschienen bei ihm und sprachen: "Johannes der Täufer hat uns zu dir gesandt und läßt dich fragen: 'Bist du der verheißene Messias, oder müssen wir auf einen anderen warten?'"
21 In that hour he cured many of diseases, and plagues, and evil spirits, and to many who were blind he gave sight.
Zu eben jener Stunde heilte Jesus viele von Krankheiten, Plagen und bösen Geistern, und vielen Blinden schenkte er das Augenlicht.
22 And he answered and said to them, Go and tell John what ye have seen and heard; that the blind receive sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor good tidings are brought;
Da antwortete er den Boten: "Geht und berichtet Johannes, was ihr gesehen und gehört: Blinde werden sehend, Lahme gehen wieder, Aussätzige werden rein, Taube hören, Tote werden auferweckt, Armen wird die Heilsbotschaft verkündigt;
23 and blessed is he, whoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.
und selig ist, wer an mir nicht irre wird!"
24 And when the messengers of John had departed, he began to say to the multitudes concerning John, What have ye gone out into the wilderness to see? the reeds shaken by the wind?
Als die Boten des Johannes wieder weggegangen waren, begann Jesus zu den Volksscharen von Johannes zu reden: "Warum seid ihr einst in die Wüste hinausgegangen? Wolltet ihr euch ein Schilfrohr ansehen, das sich im Wind hin- und herbewegte?
25 But what have ye gone out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Lo! they who wear gorgeous apparel, and live luxuriously, are in kings' palaces.
Doch sicher nicht! Warum seid ihr denn einst hinausgegangen? Wolltet ihr einen feingekleideten Weltmann sehen? Solche Leute, die sich prächtig kleiden und üppig leben, sind an den Königshöfen.
26 But what have ye gone out to see? A prophet? Yea, I say to you, and more than a prophet.
Warum seid ihr denn hinausgegangen? Wolltet ihr einen Propheten sehen? Ja ich sage euch: Dieser Mann ist noch weit mehr als ein Prophet.
27 This is he of whom it is written, “Lo! I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.”
Denn er ist es, von dem geschrieben steht: Sieh, ich sende meinen Boten vor dir her, der deinen Weg vor dir bereiten soll.
28 I say to you, Among those born of women there is no greater prophet than John; but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
Ich sage euch: Unter allen Weibersöhnen ist keiner größer als Johannes; der Kleinste aber im Königreich Gottes ist größer als er.
29 And all the people when they heard him, and the publicans, acknowledged God as righteous by being baptized with the baptism of John.
Das ganze Volk, das des Johannes Predigt hörte, besonders auch die Zöllner, haben sich von ihm taufen lassen und damit diese Ordnung Gottes als gerecht anerkannt.
30 But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the purpose of God toward themselves, not being baptized by him.
Die Pharisäer aber und die Gesetzeslehrer haben sich nicht von ihm taufen lassen und dadurch die Gnadenabsicht, die Gott auch mit ihnen hatte, vereitelt.
31 To what then shall I compare the men of this generation, and what are they like?
Wem soll ich nun die Menschen von heute vergleichen? Wem sind sie ähnlich?
32 They are like children sitting in the market-place, and calling one to another, saying, We piped to you, and ye did not dance; we sung a dirge, and ye did not weep.
Sie sind wie Kinder, die auf der Straße sitzen und einander zurufen: Wir haben euch die Flöte gespielt, doch ihr habt nicht getanzt; wir haben ein Klagelied gesungen, doch ihr habt nicht geweint.
33 For John the Baptist hath come not eating bread, nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a demon.
Johannes der Täufer ist aufgetreten: er hat kein Brot gegessen und keinen Wein getrunken; da sagt ihr: 'Er ist von einem bösen Geist besessen!'
34 The Son of man hath come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold, a glutton and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
Der Menschensohn ist aufgetreten und ißt und trinkt wie andere; da sagt ihr nun: 'Seht, er ist ein Fresser und Weintrinker, der Zöllner und Sünder Freund.'
35 But wisdom is acknowledged by all her children.
Aber doch ist die Weisheit (Gottes) anerkannt worden von allen, die auf ihre Stimme hören."
36 And one of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him; and he went into the Pharisee's house, and reclined at the table.
Einst lud ihn ein Pharisäer ein, bei ihm zu speisen. Er ging in des Pharisäers Haus und nahm am Tisch Platz.
37 And lo! a woman who was in the city, a sinner, learning that he was at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster-bottle of ointment,
Nun wohnte in jener Stadt eine Frau, die ein lasterhaftes Leben führte. Als die vernahm, Jesus sei als Gast in des Pharisäers Haus, da kam sie mit einem Glas Salböl
38 and standing behind at his feet, weeping, began to wet his feet with tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
und trat laut weinend rückwärts zu dem Platz, wo er mit seinen Füßen lag. Sie begann mit ihren Tränen seine Füße zu benetzen und trocknete sie mit ihrem Haupthaar. Dann küßte sie voll Inbrunst seine Füße und salbte sie mit dem Öl.
39 And the Pharisee who had invited him, when he saw this, said within himself, This man, if he were a prophet, would know who, and what sort of woman, this is that toucheth him; for she is a sinner.
Als der Pharisäer, der ihn geladen hatte, das sah, da dachte er bei sich: "Wäre der Mann wirklich ein Prophet, so müßte er auch wissen, wer und was für eine Frau das ist, die ihn berührt, — er müßte wissen, daß dies Weib der Sünde dient."
40 And Jesus answering said to him, Simon, I have somewhat to say to thee. And he saith, Teacher, say on.
Da nahm Jesus das Wort und sprach zu ihm: "Simon, ich habe dir etwas zu sagen." Er erwiderte: "Meister, sprich!"
41 A certain money-lender had two debtors; one owed five hundred denaries, and the other fifty.
Jesus sagte: "Ein Geldverleiher hatte zwei Schuldner; der eine war ihm fünfhundert Silberlinge schuldig, der andere fünfzig.
42 When they had nothing to pay, he freely remitted the debt of both. Which of them, now, will love him the most?
Da sie ihre Schuld nicht bezahlen konnten, so erließ er sie beiden. Sag mir: wer von ihnen wird ihn nun am meisten liebhaben?"
43 Simon answering said, He, I suppose, to whom he remitted the most. And he said to him, Thou hast judged rightly.
Simon antwortete: "Ich sollte meinen: der, dem er am meisten erlassen hat." Jesus sprach zu ihm: "Du hast recht geurteilt."
44 And turning to the woman, he said to Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered thy house, no water didst thou give me for my feet; but she wet my feet with tears, and wiped them with her hair.
Dann wandte er sich zu der Frau und sprach zu Simon: "Du siehst die Frau hier. Als ich dein Haus betrat, hast du mir kein Wasser zu einem Fußbad bringen lassen; sie aber hat meine Füße mit ihren Tränen genetzt und sie mit ihrem Haar getrocknet.
45 No kiss didst thou give me; but she, from the time I came in, did not cease to kiss my feet.
Du hast mir keinen Willkommkuß gegeben; sie aber hat, seitdem ich hier eingetreten bin, mir unaufhörlich die Füße geküßt.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint; but she anointed my feet with costly ointment.
Du hast mir das Haupt nicht mit Öl gesalbt; sie aber hat mir mit ihrer köstlichen Salbe sogar die Füße gesalbt.
47 Wherefore, I say to thee, her many sins have been forgiven; for she loved much; but he to whom little is forgiven loveth little.
Darum sage ich dir: Für ihre vielen Sünden ist ihr schon Vergebung zuteil geworden; denn sie hat (mir) viel Liebe erwiesen. Wem aber nur wenig vergeben wird, der zeigt auch nur wenig Liebe."
48 And he said to her, Thy sins have been forgiven.
Dann sprach er zu ihr: "Deine Sünden sind dir vergeben."
49 And those who were at table with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that even forgiveth sins?
Da begannen die Tischgenossen bei sich zu denken: "Wer ist denn dieser Mann, daß er sogar Sünden vergibt?"
50 But he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
Er aber sprach zu der Frau: "Dein Glaube hat dich gerettet; geh hin in Frieden!"
