Luke 7
1 When he had ended all his discourse in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.
Mutta kuin hän kansan kuullen oli päättänyt kaikki sanansa, meni hän Kapernaumiin.
2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick, and about to die.
Ja yhden sadanpäämiehen palvelia sairasti kuolemallansa, josta hän paljon piti.
3 And having heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, and besought him to come and save his servant.
Kuin hän siis Jesuksesta kuuli, lähetti hän Juudalaisten vanhimmat hänen tykönsä rukoilemaan häntä, että hän tulis ja parantais hänen palveliansa.
4 And they came to Jesus, and besought him earnestly, saying, He is worthy that thou shouldst do this for him;
Kuin he tulivat Jesuksen tykö, rukoilivat he häntä hartaasti ja sanoivat: hän on mahdollinen, ettäs hänelle sen teet;
5 for he loveth our nation, and himself built the synagogue for us.
Sillä hän rakastaa meidän kansaamme ja rakensi meille synagogan.
6 And Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying, Lord, trouble not thyself; for I am not worthy that thou shouldst come under my roof;
Niin Jesus meni heidän kanssansa. Ja kuin ei hän silleen ollut kaukana huoneesta, lähetti sadanpäämies ystäviänsä hänen tykönsä, sanoen hänelle: Herra, älä vaivaa sinuas; sillä en ole minä mahdollinen, ettäs minun kattoni alle tulisit.
7 on which account I did not think myself worthy to come to thee; but command with a word, and let my servant be healed.
Sentähden en minä myös itsiäni lukenut mahdolliseksi tuleman sinun tykös; mutta sano sanalla, niin minun palveliani paranee.
8 For even I am a man set under authority, having soldiers under me; and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
Sillä minä olen myös ihminen vallan alle asetettu, ja minun allani on sotamiehiä, ja sanon tälle: mene! niin hän menee, ja toiselle: tule! ja hän tulee, ja minun palvelialleni: tee se! ja hän tekee.
9 And Jesus hearing this, wondered at him; and turning round said to the multitude that followed him, I say to you, Not even in Israel have I found such faith.
Mutta kuin Jesus sen kuuli, ihmetteli hän häntä, kääntyi ja sanoi kansalle, joka häntä seurasi: minä sanon teille: en ole minä Israelissa senkaltaista uskoa löytänyt.
10 And they who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well.
Ja kuin ne, jotka lähetetyt olivat, kotia palasivat, löysivät he palvelian terveenä, joka sairastanut oli.
11 And it came to pass the day after, that he was going to a city called Nain; and many of his disciples were with him, and a great multitude.
Ja tapahtui sen jälkeen, että hän meni kaupunkiin, joka Nain kutsutaan, ja hänen kanssansa meni monta hänen opetuslastansa ja paljo väkeä.
12 And as he came near the gate of the city, lo! there was carried out dead an only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a great multitude from the city was with her.
Mutta kuin hän kaupungin porttia lähestyi, katso, kuollut kannettiin ulos, joka oli äitinsä ainoa poika, ja se oli leski. Ja paljo kaupungin kansasta kävi hänen kanssansa.
13 And when the Lord saw her, he was moved with compassion for her, and said to her, Weep not.
Kuin Herra hänen näki, armahti hän hänen päällensä ja sanoi hänelle: älä itke!
14 And he came up, and touched the bier; and they who bore it stood still; and he said, Young man, I say to thee, Rise.
Ja meni ja rupesi paariin (ja kantajat seisahtivat, ) ja hän sanoi: nuorukainen, minä sanon sinulle: nouse ylös!
15 And he that was dead sat up and began to speak; and he gave him to his mother.
Ja kuollut nousi istualle ja rupesi puhumaan. Ja hän antoi sen äidillensä.
16 And fear seized on all, and they gave glory to God, saying, A great prophet hath risen up among us; and, God hath visited his people.
Ja pelko tuli kaikille, ja kunnioittivat Jumalaa, sanoen: suuri propheta on noussut meidän sekaamme, ja Jumala on kansaansa etsinyt.
17 And this report about him went forth in all Judaea, and in all the neighboring country.
Ja tämä sanoma kuului hänestä kaikkeen Juudeaan ja kaiken sen lähimaakunnan ympäri.
18 And the disciples of John told him all these things.
Ja Johannekselle ilmoittivat hänen opetuslapsensa näistä kaikista. Ja Johannes kutsui tykönsä kaksi opetuslastansa,
19 And calling to him two of his disciples, John sent them to the Lord, saying, Art thou he that is to come, or are we to look for another?
Ja lähetti Jesuksen tykö, sanoen: oletko se tuleva, eli pitääkö meidän toista odottaman?
20 And the men came to him and said, John the Baptist hath sent us to thee, saying, Art thou he that is to come, or are we to look for another?
Kuin nämät miehet tulivat hänen tykönsä, sanoivat he: Johannes Kastaja lähetti meidät sinun tykös, sanoen: oletkos sinä se tuleva, eli pitääkö meidän toista odottaman?
21 In that hour he cured many of diseases, and plagues, and evil spirits, and to many who were blind he gave sight.
Sillä hetkellä paransi hän monta taudeista ja vitsauksista ja pahoista hengistä, ja antoi monelle sokialle näön.
22 And he answered and said to them, Go and tell John what ye have seen and heard; that the blind receive sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor good tidings are brought;
Ja Jesus vastasi ja sanoi heille: menkäät ja sanokaat jälleen Johannekselle, mitä te nähneet ja kuulleet olette: sokiat saavat näkönsä, ontuvat käyvät, spitaliset puhdistetaan, kuurot kuulevat, kuolleet herätetään, köyhille saarnataan evankeliumi,
23 and blessed is he, whoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.
Ja autuas on se, joka ei pahene minusta.
24 And when the messengers of John had departed, he began to say to the multitudes concerning John, What have ye gone out into the wilderness to see? the reeds shaken by the wind?
Ja kuin Johanneksen sanansaattajat menivät pois, rupes hän sanomaan Johanneksesta kansalle: mitä te läksitte korpeen katsomaan? ruokoako, joka tuulelta häälytetään?
25 But what have ye gone out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Lo! they who wear gorgeous apparel, and live luxuriously, are in kings' palaces.
Eli mitä te läksitte katsomaan? ihmistäkö, pehmeisiin vaatteisiin puettua? Katso, ne jotka koreissa vaatteissa ovat ja herkullisesti elävät, ovat kuninkaallisissa kartanoissa.
26 But what have ye gone out to see? A prophet? Yea, I say to you, and more than a prophet.
Taikka mitä te menitte katsomaan? prophetaako? minä sanon teille: ja enempi kuin propheta.
27 This is he of whom it is written, “Lo! I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.”
Tämä on se, josta kirjoitettu on: katso, minä lähetän minun enkelini sinun kasvois eteen, valmistamaan sinun tietäs sinun etees.
28 I say to you, Among those born of women there is no greater prophet than John; but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
Sillä minä sanon teille: niiden seassa, jotka vaimoista syntyneet ovat, ei ole yhtään suurempaa prophetaa kuin Johannes Kastaja: kuitenkin se, joka vähempi on Jumalan valtakunnassa, on suurempi häntä.
29 And all the people when they heard him, and the publicans, acknowledged God as righteous by being baptized with the baptism of John.
Ja kaikki kansa, joka hänen kuuli, ja Publikanit antoivat Jumalalle oikeuden ja kastettiin Johanneksen kasteella.
30 But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the purpose of God toward themselves, not being baptized by him.
Mutta Pharisealaiset ja lainoppineet katsoivat ylön Jumalan neuvon itseänsä kohtaan, ja ei heitä kastettu häneltä.
31 To what then shall I compare the men of this generation, and what are they like?
Niin Herra sanoi: keneen siis minä tämän sukukunnan ihmiset vertaan? Ja kenenkä kaltaiset he ovat?
32 They are like children sitting in the market-place, and calling one to another, saying, We piped to you, and ye did not dance; we sung a dirge, and ye did not weep.
Ne ovat niiden lasten kaltaiset, jotka turulla istuvat ja huutavat toinen toisellensa ja sanovat: me olemme huilua soittaneet teidän edessänne, ja ette hypänneet: me olemme teille veisanneet murhevirsiä, ja ette itkeneet.
33 For John the Baptist hath come not eating bread, nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a demon.
Sillä Johannes Kastaja tuli, ja ei syönyt leipää eikä juonut viinaa, ja te sanotte: hänellä on perkele.
34 The Son of man hath come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold, a glutton and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
Ihmisen Poika on tullut, syö ja juo, ja te sanotte: katso ihmistä, syömäriä ja viinan juomaria, Publikanien ja syntisten ystävää:
35 But wisdom is acknowledged by all her children.
Ja viisaus on vanhurskautettu kaikilta hänen lapsiltansa.
36 And one of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him; and he went into the Pharisee's house, and reclined at the table.
Niin yksi Pharisealaisista rukoili häntä ruualle kanssansa. Ja hän meni Phariseuksen huoneeseen ja aterioitsi.
37 And lo! a woman who was in the city, a sinner, learning that he was at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster-bottle of ointment,
Ja katso, yksi vaimo oli kaupungissa, joka oli syntinen, ja kuin hän sai kuulla, että hän aterioitsi Pharisealaisen huoneessa, toi hän lasin kallista voidetta.
38 and standing behind at his feet, weeping, began to wet his feet with tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
Ja seisoi takana hänen jalkainsa juuressa itkien, ja rupesi kyyneleillänsä kastamaan hänen jalkojansa, ja niitä päänsä hiuksilla kuivasi, ja suuta antoi hänen jalkainsa, ja voiteli ne voiteella.
39 And the Pharisee who had invited him, when he saw this, said within himself, This man, if he were a prophet, would know who, and what sort of woman, this is that toucheth him; for she is a sinner.
Mutta kuin Pharisealainen sen näki, joka hänen kutsunut oli, sanoi hän itsellensä: jos tämä olis propheta, niin hän tietäis, mikä ja millinen tämä vaimo on, joka häneen rupee, että hän on syntinen.
40 And Jesus answering said to him, Simon, I have somewhat to say to thee. And he saith, Teacher, say on.
Ja Jesus vastaten sanoi hänelle: Simon, minulla on jotakin sinulle sanomista. Hän sanoi: Mestari, sanos.
41 A certain money-lender had two debtors; one owed five hundred denaries, and the other fifty.
Kaksi valkamiestä oli yhdellä lainaajalla: yksi oli velkaa viisisataa penninkiä ja toinen viisikymmentä.
42 When they had nothing to pay, he freely remitted the debt of both. Which of them, now, will love him the most?
Koska ei heillä ollut varaa maksaa, antoi hän molempain anteeksi. Sano siis, kumpi näistä häntä enemmän rakastaman pitää?
43 Simon answering said, He, I suppose, to whom he remitted the most. And he said to him, Thou hast judged rightly.
Simon vastaten sanoi: minä luulen, että se, jolle hän enemmän anteeksi antoi; hän sanoi: oikein sinä tuomitsit.
44 And turning to the woman, he said to Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered thy house, no water didst thou give me for my feet; but she wet my feet with tears, and wiped them with her hair.
Ja hän käänsi itsensä vaimoa päin, ja sanoi Simonille: näetkös tämän vaimon? minä tulin sinun huoneeses, etkä sinä antanut vettä minun jaloilleni; mutta tämä kyynelillä kasti minun jalkani ja ne hiuksillansa kuivasi.
45 No kiss didst thou give me; but she, from the time I came in, did not cease to kiss my feet.
Et sinä minun suuta antanut, mutta tämä, sittenkuin hän tähän tuli, ei ole lakannut minun jalkaini suuta antamasta.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint; but she anointed my feet with costly ointment.
Et sinä minun päätäni öljyllä voidellut; mutta tämä voiteella minun jalkani voiteli.
47 Wherefore, I say to thee, her many sins have been forgiven; for she loved much; but he to whom little is forgiven loveth little.
Minä sanon sinulle: sentähden että hänelle paljo syntiä anteeksi annettiin, niin hän paljon rakasti; mutta jolle vähempi anteeksi annetaan, se vähemmän rakastaa.
48 And he said to her, Thy sins have been forgiven.
Niin hän sanoi hänelle: sinun syntis ovat anteeksi annetut.
49 And those who were at table with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that even forgiveth sins?
Niin rupesivat ne, jotka myös aterioitsivat, sanomaan keskenänsä: kuka tämä on, joka synnitkin anteeksi antaa?
50 But he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
Niin hän sanoi vaimolle: sinun uskos on sinun vapaaksi tehnyt: mene rauhaan.
