Luke 6
1 And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he was going through grain-fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of grain, and ate them, rubbing them with their hands.
Sucedió que un sábado, mientras Jesús caminaba por los campos de trigo, sus discípulos comenzaron a recoger algunas espigas, frotándolas en sus manos, y las comían.
2 And some of the Pharisees said, Why are ye doing that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath?
Entonces algunos de los fariseos lo cuestionaron, diciéndole: “¿Por qué están ustedes haciendo lo que no está permitido hacer en sábado?”
3 And Jesus answering them, said, Have ye not even read what David did, when he was himself hungry, and they who were with him?
Jesús respondió: “¿Ustedes nunca han leído lo que David hizo cuando él y sus hombres tuvieron hambre?
4 how he went into the house of God, and took and ate the show-bread, and gave it also to those who were with him, which it is not lawful for any to eat but the priests alone?
¿Y cómo entró a la casa de Dios y tomó el pan consagrado? Lo comió, y lo dio a comer a sus hombres también. Eso tampoco está permitido. El pan consagrado es solo para los sacerdotes”.
5 And he said to them, The Son of man is lord even of the sabbath.
Entonces les dijo: “El Hijo del hombre es Señor del sábado”.
6 And it came to pass on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue, and taught; and there was a man there whose right hand was withered.
Aconteció que otro sábado Jesús entró a enseñar en la sinagoga. Y había allí un hombre que tenía su mano derecha lisiada.
7 And the scribes and the Pharisees were watching whether he would heal on the sabbath, that they might find an accusation against him.
Los maestros religiosos y los fariseos estaban observando a Jesús atentamente para ver si sanaría en sábado. Porque ellos querían encontrar algún motivo para acusarlo.
8 But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man having the withered hand, Rise, and stand up in the midst. And he arose, and stood up.
Pero Jesús sabía lo que había en sus mentes. Entonces le dijo al hombre con la mano lisiada: “Levántate, y ponte en pie aquí delante de todos”. Y el hombre se levantó y se quedó allí en pie.
9 And Jesus said to them, I ask you whether it is lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do evil; to save life, or to kill?
Entonces Jesús se dio vuelta hacia ellos y dijo: “Permítanme hacerles una pregunta: ¿Es legal hacer el bien en sábado, o el mal? ¿Salvar vidas o destruirlas?”
10 And looking round on them all, he said to him, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so; and his hand was restored.
Y miró a su alrededor a todos los que estaban allí. Entonces le dijo al hombre: “Extiende tu mano”. Y el hombre lo hizo, y su mano volvió a estar como nueva.
11 But they were filled with madness, and conferred with one another as to what they should do to Jesus.
Pero ellos se enfurecieron, y comenzaron a analizar respecto a lo que podrían hacerle a Jesús.
12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into the mountain to pray; and he continued all night in prayer to God.
Un día, poco tiempo después, Jesús subió a una montaña para orar. Allí se quedó toda la noche, orando a Dios.
13 And when it was day, he called to him his disciples; and he chose from them twelve, whom he also named apostles;
Cuando llegó la mañana, reunió a sus discípulos, y eligió a doce de ellos. Estos son los nombres de los apóstoles:
14 Simon, whom he named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip and Bartholomew,
Simón (también llamado Pedro por Jesús), Andrés su hermano, Santiago, Juan, Felipe, Bartolomé,
15 and Matthew and Thomas, and James the Son of Alphaeus, and Simon called the zealot,
Mateo, Tomás, Santiago el hijo de Alfeo, Simón el Revolucionario,
16 and Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
Judas el hijo de Santiago, y Judas Iscariote (quien llegó a ser el traidor).
17 And he came down with them, and stood on a level place with a great multitude of his disciples, and a great crowd of the people from all Judaea and Jerusalem and the sea-coast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases.
Jesús descendió de la montaña con ellos, y se detuvo en un lugar donde había una gran llanura. Estaban rodeados de una multitud de discípulos y muchas otras personas de toda Judea, de Jerusalén y de la costa de Tiro y Sidón. Y se habían reunido para escucharlo y para que los sanara de sus enfermedades.
18 And they that were harassed with unclean spirits were cured.
Los que estaban aquejados por espíritus malignos también eran sanados.
19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him, because power went out of him and healed all.
Todos los que estaban en la multitud intentaban tocarlo, porque de él salía poder y los sanaba a todos.
20 And raising his eyes toward his disciples, he said, Blessed are ye poor; for yours is the kingdom of God.
Mirando a sus discípulos, Jesús les dijo:
21 Blessed are ye that hunger now; for ye will be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now; for ye will laugh.
“Cuán felices ustedes los pobres, porque el reino de Dios es de ustedes. Cuán felices ustedes los que ahora tienen hambre, porque comerán todo lo que necesiten. Cuán felices ustedes los que ahora están llorando, porque reirán.
22 Blessed are ye when men hate you, and when they exclude you, and revile and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of man.
“Cuán felices ustedes cuando la gente los odie, los rechace, los insulte y maldiga sus nombres por mí, que soy el Hijo del hombre.
23 Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy; for lo! your reward is great in heaven; for thus their fathers did to the prophets.
Cuando llegue ese día, estén felices. Salten de alegría porque es grande la recompensa que tienen ustedes en el cielo. No olviden que los ancestros de ellos también maltrataron así a los profetas.
24 But woe to you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
“Pero cuánto pesar por ustedes los ricos, porque ya tienen su recompensa.
25 Woe to you that are full now! for ye will hunger. Woe to you that laugh now! for ye will mourn and weep.
Cuánto pesar por los que ahora están saciados, porque estarán hambrientos. Cuánto pesar por ustedes los que ahora ríen, porque llorarán y se lamentarán.
26 Woe, when all men speak well of you! for so did their fathers of the false prophets.
Cuánto pesar por ustedes cuando todos los alaben. No olviden que sus ancestros también alabaron de esta manera a los falsos profetas.
27 But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies; do good to those who hate you;
“Pero yo les digo a todos ustedes que están oyendo: Amen a sus enemigos. Hagan el bien a quienes los odian.
28 bless those who curse you; pray for those who are spiteful to you.
Bendigan a quienes los maldicen. Oren por quienes los maltratan.
29 To him that smiteth thee on one cheek, offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak, forbid not to take thy coat also.
Si alguien los golpea en la mejilla, pongan la otra. Si alguien les quita el abrigo, no se opongan a que les quiten su camisa.
30 Give to every one that asketh of thee; and from him that taketh away thy goods, demand them not again.
Den a cualquiera que les pida. Si alguien les quita algo, no lo pidan de vuelta.
31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also in like manner to them.
Hagan con otros lo que quieren que hagan con ustedes.
32 And if ye love those who love you, what thanks do ye deserve? for sinners also love those who love them.
“Si ustedes aman a quienes los aman, ¿por qué merecerían algún crédito por ello? Hasta los pecadores aman a quienes los aman.
33 For if ye do good to those who do good to you, what thanks do ye deserve? even sinners do the same.
Si ustedes hacen el bien a quienes les hacen el bien, ¿Por qué merecerían algún crédito por eso también? Los pecadores también hacen eso.
34 And if ye lend to those from whom ye expect to receive, what thanks do ye deserve? even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much in return.
Si ustedes prestan dinero para que se lo devuelvan, ¿Por qué merecerían crédito por ello? Los pecadores también prestan dinero a otros pecadores, esperando que les devuelvan lo que prestaron.
35 But love your enemies, and do good and lend, despairing of no one; and your reward will be great, and ye will be sons of the Most High; for he is kind to the unthankful and wicked.
No. Amen a sus enemigos, háganles el bien, y presten sin esperar que les paguen. Entonces recibirán una gran recompensa, y ustedes serán los hijos del Altísimo, porque él es bueno con los ingratos y los malvados.
36 Be merciful, as your Father is merciful.
Sean compasivos, como su Padre lo es.
37 And judge not, and ye will not be judged; and condemn not, and ye will not be condemned; forgive, and ye will be forgiven;
“No juzguen, y ustedes tampoco serán juzgados; no condenen, y ustedes no serán condenados; perdonen, y serán perdonados;
38 give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will men give into your bosom; for with what measure ye mete, it will be measured to you in return.
den, y recibirán de vuelta con generosidad. ¡Cuando a ustedes les den, será apretado, para que haya lugar para más, y estará desbordándose y derramándose en sus regazos! Porque lo mucho que ustedes den, determinará lo mucho que recibirán”.
39 And he spoke also a parable to them: Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a ditch?
Entonces ilustró este tema así: “¿Acaso puede un ciego guiar a otro ciego? ¿No caerían ambos en una zanja?
40 A disciple is not above his teacher; but every one when fully instructed will be as his teacher.
¿Acaso los estudiantes saben más que el maestro? Solo cuando lo hayan aprendido todo, entonces serán semejantes a su maestro.
41 And why dost thou look at the mote in thy brother's eye, and not perceive the beam that is in thine own eye?
¿Por qué te preocupas por la astilla que está en el ojo de tu hermano, cuando ni siquiera te das cuenta del tronco que está en tu propio ojo?
42 How canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me take out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself perceivest not the beam in thine own eye? Hypocrite! first cast the beam out of thine own eye, and then thou wilt see clearly to take out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
¿Cómo puedes decirle a tu hermano: ‘Hermano, déjame sacar la astilla que tienes en tu ojo,’ cuando ni siquiera ves la tronco que tienes en tu propio ojo? ¡Hipócrita! Saca primero la tronco que tienes en tu ojo, y entonces podrás ver suficientemente bien para sacar la astilla del ojo de tu hermano.
43 For there is no good tree that beareth bad fruit; and again, there is no bad tree that beareth good fruit.
“Un buen árbol no produce frutos malos, y un árbol malo no produce frutos buenos.
44 For every tree is known by its own fruit; for from thorns men do not gather figs, nor from a bramble-bush do they gather grapes.
Ustedes reconocen un árbol por los frutos que produce. Nadie recoge higos de un arbusto con espinas, ni cosecha uvas de una zarza.
45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth that which is evil; for out of the abundance of his heart his mouth speaketh.
La gente buena produce lo que es bueno de las cosas buenas que ellos atesoran de lo que guardan por dentro. Las personas malas producen cosas malas de lo malo que guardan dentro de ellos. Lo que llena las mentes de las personas se evidencia en lo que dicen.
46 But why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
“¿Por qué, entonces, se molestan en llamarme ‘Señor, Señor,’ si no hacen lo que digo?
47 Every one that cometh to me and heareth my sayings and doeth them, I will show you whom he is like.
Les daré el ejemplo de alguien que viene a mí, oye mi instrucción y la sigue.
48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep, and laid its foundation on a rock; and when a flood arose, the stream dashed against that house, and could not shake it; because it was well built.
Esa persona es como el hombre que construye una casa. Cava un hueco y establece allí el fundamento sobre la roca sólida. Cuando se desborda el río y las aguas golpean contra aquella casa, la casa no se daña porque está bien construida.
49 But he that heareth and doeth not, is like a man that built a house upon the earth without a foundation; against which the stream dashed, and it fell at once, and the ruin of that house was great.
La persona que me oye pero no hace lo que yo digo es como un hombre que construye una casa sin fundamentos. Cuando la creciente viene contra la casa, la casa colapsa de inmediato, y queda completamente destruida”.
