Luke 5
1 And it came to pass, as the multitude was pressing upon him and hearing the word of God, that he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret,
ഒരു ദിവസം യേശു ഗെന്നേസരെത്ത് തടാകതീരത്തു നിൽക്കുമ്പോൾ, ജനക്കൂട്ടം ദൈവവചനം കേൾക്കാൻ തിക്കിത്തിരക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone out of them, and had washed the nets.
അപ്പോൾ വല കഴുകിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന മീൻപിടിത്തക്കാരുടെ രണ്ട് വള്ളം തടാകതീരത്തോട് ചേർന്നു കിടക്കുന്നത് അദ്ദേഹം കണ്ടു.
3 And going into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And sitting down in the boat, he taught the multitudes.
അവയിലൊന്ന് ശിമോന്റേതായിരുന്നു. യേശു അതിൽ കയറിയിട്ട് വള്ളം കരയിൽനിന്ന് അൽപ്പം നീക്കാൻ ശിമോനോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. അദ്ദേഹം ആ വള്ളത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നുകൊണ്ട് ജനത്തെ ഉപദേശിച്ചു.
4 And when he had done speaking, he said to Simon, Put out into deep water, and let down your nets for a draught.
യേശു തന്റെ പ്രഭാഷണം അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചതിനുശേഷം, “നിന്റെ വള്ളം ആഴമുള്ളിടത്തേക്ക് നീക്കി അവിടെ വലയിറക്കുക” എന്ന് ശിമോനോട് കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
5 And Simon answering said, Master, we toiled all night, and took nothing; but at thy word I will let down the nets.
അതിനു ശിമോൻ, “പ്രഭോ, രാത്രിമുഴുവൻ കഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടിട്ടും ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒന്നും കിട്ടിയില്ല. എങ്കിലും അങ്ങയുടെ വാക്കനുസരിച്ച് ഞാൻ വലയിറക്കാം” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
6 And having done this, they inclosed great multitude of fishes; and their nets began to break.
അവർ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തപ്പോൾ വലിയ മീൻകൂട്ടം വലയിൽപ്പെട്ടു; അവരുടെ വല കീറാൻ തുടങ്ങി.
7 And they beckoned to their partners in the other boat, to come and help them; and they came, and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
അപ്പോളവർ, മറ്റേ വള്ളത്തിലുള്ള പങ്കാളികൾ വന്നു തങ്ങളെ സഹായിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവരെ ആംഗ്യംകാട്ടി വിളിച്ചു. അവർ വന്നു, രണ്ട് വള്ളങ്ങളും മുങ്ങാറാകുന്നതുവരെ മീൻ നിറച്ചു.
8 And Simon Peter seeing it fell down at the knees of Jesus, saying, Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.
ഇതു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ശിമോൻ പത്രോസ് യേശുവിന്റെ കാൽക്കൽവീണ്, “കർത്താവേ, എന്നെവിട്ടു പോകണമേ, ഞാൻ പാപിയായ മനുഷ്യൻ ആകുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
9 For he and all that were with him were amazed at the draught of fishes, which they had taken;
ശിമോനും ശിമോന്റെ എല്ലാ കൂട്ടുകാരും തങ്ങൾ നടത്തിയ മീൻപിടിത്തത്തെപ്പറ്റി വിസ്മയഭരിതരായിരുന്നു;
10 and so were also James and John the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon And Jesus said to Simon, Fear not; henceforth thou shalt catch men.
സെബെദിയുടെ മക്കളായ യാക്കോബ്, യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നീ പങ്കാളികളും വിസ്മയിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ യേശു ശിമോനോട്, “ഭയപ്പെടരുത്; ഇനിമുതൽ നീ മനുഷ്യരെ പിടിക്കുന്നവനാകും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
11 And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.
അങ്ങനെ, അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ വള്ളങ്ങൾ വലിച്ചു കരയ്ക്കു കയറ്റിയശേഷം എല്ലാം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് യേശുവിനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.
12 And it came to pass, when he was in one of the cities, lo! a man full of leprosy; and seeing Jesus, he fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst cleanse me.
യേശു ഒരു പട്ടണത്തിൽ ആയിരുന്നപ്പോൾ ദേഹമാസകലം കുഷ്ഠം നിറഞ്ഞ ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ അവിടെവന്നു. അയാൾ യേശുവിനെ കണ്ടിട്ട് സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണ്, “കർത്താവേ, അങ്ങേക്കു മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ എന്നെ സൗഖ്യമാക്കാൻ കഴിയും” എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
13 And he put forth his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be thou cleansed. And immediately the leprosy left him.
യേശു കൈനീട്ടി ആ മനുഷ്യനെ തൊട്ടുകൊണ്ട്, “എനിക്കു മനസ്സുണ്ട്, നീ ശുദ്ധനാകുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഉടൻതന്നെ കുഷ്ഠരോഗത്തിൽനിന്ന് അയാൾക്കു സൗഖ്യം ലഭിച്ചു.
14 And he charged him to tell no one: but go, and show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing as Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
അപ്പോൾ യേശു അവനോട്, “ഇത് ആരോടും പറയരുത്, എന്നാൽ നീ പോയി പുരോഹിതനു നിന്നെത്തന്നെ കാണിക്കുക. നീ പൂർണസൗഖ്യമുള്ളവനായി എന്ന് പൊതുജനങ്ങൾക്കു ബോധ്യപ്പെടുന്നതിനായി മോശ കൽപ്പിച്ച വഴിപാടുകൾ അർപ്പിക്കുകയുംചെയ്യുക” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
15 But so much the more went abroad the report concerning him; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed of their infirmities.
എങ്കിലും അദ്ദേഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വാർത്ത വളരെ പരന്നു. തൽഫലമായി വലിയ ജനക്കൂട്ടങ്ങൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വചനം കേൾക്കാനും തങ്ങളുടെ രോഗസൗഖ്യത്തിനുമായി വന്നുചേർന്നു.
16 But he was wont to withdraw to desert places, and pray.
എന്നാൽ, യേശു പലപ്പോഴും വിജനസ്ഥലങ്ങളിലേക്കു പിൻവാങ്ങി പ്രാർഥിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
17 And it came to pass on a certain day, that he was teaching, and there were sitting by Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every town of Galilee and Judea, and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was present that he might heal.
ഒരു ദിവസം യേശു ഉപദേശിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഗലീലയിലെ എല്ലാ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും യെഹൂദ്യയിൽനിന്നും ജെറുശലേമിൽനിന്നും വന്നെത്തിയ പരീശന്മാരും വേദജ്ഞരും അവിടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. രോഗികളെ സൗഖ്യമാക്കാൻ കർത്താവിന്റെ ശക്തി അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
18 And lo! men brought on a bed a man that was palsied; and they endeavored to bring him in, and to set him before him.
അപ്പോൾ ചിലർ ഒരു പക്ഷാഘാതരോഗിയെ കിടക്കയിൽ വഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു. അവനെ യേശു ഇരുന്നിരുന്ന വീടിനുള്ളിൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമുമ്പിൽ കിടത്താൻ ശ്രമിച്ചു.
19 And not finding any way to bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the house-top, and let him down through the tiling with the couch into the midst before Jesus.
ജനത്തിരക്കു നിമിത്തം അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുക സാധ്യമല്ല എന്നുകണ്ട് അവർ മേൽക്കൂരയിൽ കയറി, ചില ഓടുകൾ നീക്കി അവനെ കിടക്കയോടെ ജനമധ്യത്തിൽ, യേശുവിന്റെ നേരേമുമ്പിൽ ഇറക്കിവെച്ചു.
20 And seeing their faith, he said, Man, thy sins have been forgiven thee.
അവരുടെ വിശ്വാസം കണ്ടിട്ട് യേശു, “സ്നേഹിതാ, നിന്റെ പാപങ്ങൾ മോചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this that speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?
എന്നാൽ പരീശന്മാരും വേദജ്ഞരും, “ദൈവത്തെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്ന ഇദ്ദേഹം ആരാണ്? പാപങ്ങൾ ക്ഷമിക്കാൻ ദൈവത്തിനല്ലാതെ ആർക്കാണു കഴിയുക?” എന്നു ചിന്തിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി.
22 But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, answered and said to them, What are ye thinking in your hearts?
അവരുടെ വിചിന്തനം ഗ്രഹിച്ച യേശു അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു, “നിങ്ങൾ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ഇങ്ങനെ ചിന്തിക്കുന്നതെന്ത്?
23 Which is easier? to say, Thy sins have been forgiven thee? or to say, Arise, and walk?
‘നിന്റെ പാപങ്ങൾ ക്ഷമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു,’ എന്നു പറയുന്നതോ ‘എഴുന്നേറ്റു നടക്കുക,’ എന്നു പറയുന്നതോ ഏതാകുന്നു എളുപ്പം?
24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins, —he said to the palsied man, —I say to thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go to thy house.
എന്നാൽ, മനുഷ്യപുത്രനു ഭൂമിയിൽ പാപങ്ങൾ ക്ഷമിക്കാൻ അധികാരമുണ്ടെന്ന് നിങ്ങൾ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.” തുടർന്ന് യേശു ആ പക്ഷാഘാതരോഗിയോട്, “എഴുന്നേറ്റ് നിന്റെ കിടക്കയെടുത്ത് വീട്ടിൽപോകുക” എന്ന് ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു.
25 And he immediately rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and went away to his house, giving glory to God.
അപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ അയാൾ അവരുടെമുമ്പാകെ എഴുന്നേറ്റുനിന്നു; താൻ കിടന്നിരുന്ന കിടക്കയെടുത്തു; ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു പോയി.
26 And amazement seized them all, and they gave glory to God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day.
എല്ലാവരും വിസ്മയഭരിതരായി ദൈവത്തെ പുകഴ്ത്തി. അവർ ഭയഭക്തിനിറഞ്ഞവരായി, “നാം ഇന്ന് അത്യപൂർവകാര്യങ്ങൾ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27 And after these things he went out, and saw a publican named Levi, sitting at the custom-house; and he said to him, Follow me.
ഈ സംഭവത്തിനുശേഷം യേശു പുറത്തേക്കു പോകുമ്പോൾ, ലേവി എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു നികുതിപിരിവുകാരൻ നികുതിപിരിവു നടത്താനിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു. യേശു അയാളോട്, “എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്കുക” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
28 And leaving everything, he arose and followed him.
ലേവി എഴുന്നേറ്റ് എല്ലാം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.
29 And Levi made a great feast for him at his house, and there was a great company of publicans and others, who were reclining at table with them.
പിന്നീട് ലേവി തന്റെ ഭവനത്തിൽ യേശുവിനു വലിയൊരു വിരുന്നുസൽക്കാരം നടത്തി. യേശുവിനോടൊപ്പം നികുതിപിരിവുകാരും മറ്റുപലരും അടങ്ങിയ വലിയൊരു സമൂഹം ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
30 And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners?
എന്നാൽ, പരീശന്മാരും അവരുടെ വിഭാഗത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട വേദജ്ഞരും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോട്, “നിങ്ങൾ നികുതിപിരിവുകാരോടും കുപ്രസിദ്ധപാപികളോടുമൊപ്പം ഭക്ഷിച്ചു പാനംചെയ്യുന്നതെന്ത്?” എന്നു ചോദിക്കുകയും പിറുപിറുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
31 And Jesus answering said to them, They who are well do not need a physician, but they who are sick.
യേശു അവരോട്, “ആരോഗ്യമുള്ളവർക്കല്ല, രോഗികൾക്കാണ് വൈദ്യനെക്കൊണ്ട് ആവശ്യം.
32 I have not come to call righteous men, but sinners to repentance.
ഞാൻ നീതിനിഷ്ഠരെയല്ല, പാപികളെയാണ് മാനസാന്തരത്തിലേക്കു വിളിക്കാൻ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നത്” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
33 And they said to him, The disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise those of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink.
പിന്നൊരിക്കൽ ചിലർ യേശുവിനോട്, “യോഹന്നാൻസ്നാപകന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ കൂടെക്കൂടെ ഉപവസിക്കുകയും പ്രാർഥിക്കുകയുംചെയ്യുന്നു; പരീശന്മാരുടെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരും അങ്ങനെചെയ്യുന്നു. എന്നാൽ അങ്ങയുടെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരാകട്ടെ, ഭക്ഷിക്കുകയും പാനംചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
34 But Jesus said to them, Can ye make the companions of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them?
അതിന് യേശു, “മണവാളൻ അതിഥികളോടുകൂടെയുള്ളപ്പോൾ വിരുന്നുകാർക്ക് ഉപവസിക്കാൻ കഴിയുമോ?
35 But the days will come—and when the bridegroom is taken from them, then will they fast in those days.
എന്നാൽ മണവാളൻ അവരെ വിട്ടുപിരിയുന്ന കാലം വരും; ആ നാളുകളിൽ അവർ ഉപവസിക്കും” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
36 And he spoke also a parable to them: No one taketh a patch from a new garment and putteth it upon an old one; for then both the new garment would be rent, and the patch from the new garment would not match with the old.
തുടർന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം അവരോട് ഈ സാദൃശ്യകഥ പറഞ്ഞു: “പുതിയ വസ്ത്രത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു കഷണം കീറിയെടുത്ത് ആരും പഴയത് തുന്നിച്ചേർക്കുന്നില്ല. അങ്ങനെചെയ്താൽ പുതിയ വസ്ത്രം കീറുമെന്നുമാത്രമല്ല പുതിയ തുണിക്കഷണം പഴയതിനോട് ചേരുകയുമില്ല.
37 And no one putteth new wine into old skins; for the new wine would burst the skins, and would itself run out, and the skins would be spoilt.
ആരും പുതിയ വീഞ്ഞു പഴയ തുകൽക്കുടങ്ങളിൽ സൂക്ഷിക്കാറില്ല; അങ്ങനെചെയ്താൽ പുതുവീഞ്ഞ് അവയെ പിളർക്കും, വീഞ്ഞ് ഒഴുകിപ്പോകുകയും തുകൽക്കുടങ്ങൾ നശിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
38 But new wine must be put into new skins.
അരുത്, പുതിയ വീഞ്ഞ് പുതിയ തുകൽക്കുടങ്ങളിലാണ് പകർന്നുവെക്കേണ്ടത്.
39 And no one, having drunk old wine, desireth new; for he saith, The old is good.
പഴയ വീഞ്ഞു കുടിച്ചതിനുശേഷം ആരും പുതിയത് ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നില്ല, ‘പഴയതു തന്നെ മെച്ചം’ എന്നു പറയും.”
