Luke 3
1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,

2 when Annas and Caiaphas were high-priests, the word of God came to John, the son of Zachariah, in the wilderness.
sa diha nga ang labawng sacerdote mao si Anas ug si Caifas, ang pulong sa Dios miabut kang Juan nga anak ni Zacarias, sa didto siya sa mga awaaw.
3 And he came into all the country about the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;
Ug ang tanang kayutaan nga kasikbit sa Jordan giadto niya nga nagwali mahitungod sa bautismo sa paghinulsol alang sa kapasayloan sa mga sala.
4 as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths!
Sumala sa nahisulat diha sa basahon sa mga pulong ni Isaias nga profeta: Ang tingog sa magasinggit diha sa mga awaaw: Andama ninyo ang dalan alang sa Ginoo, tul-ira ninyo ang iyang mga agianan
5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked places shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth;
Ang tanang walog pagatabonan, ug ang tanang bukid ug bungtod pagapatagon, ug ang mga hiwi pagatul-iron, ug ang mga dalan nga sagalsalon pagahinloon,
6 and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.”
ug ang tanang tawo makakita sa kaluwasan gikan sa Dios.
7 He said therefore to the multitudes that came forth to be baptized by him, Brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
"Busa miingon siya sa mga panon sa katawhan nga miadto aron sa pagpabautismo kaniya. " Kamong mga anak sa mga bitin! Kinsa bay nagpasidaan kaninyo sa pagkalagiw gikan sa kapungot nga umalabut?
8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance; and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham for our father; for I say to you, that God is able out of these stones to raise up children to Abraham.
Sa ingon niana, pamunga kamog mga bunga nga mahiangay sa paghinulsol, ug ayaw ninyo sugdi ang pag-ingon nganha sa inyong kaugalingon, `Si Abraham among amahan; kay sultihan ko kamo, nga ang Dios makahimo sa pagpaliwat ug mga anak alang kang Abraham gikan niining mga bato.
9 And already also is the axe lying at the root of the trees; every tree therefore that beareth not good fruit is to be cut down, and cast into the fire.
Ug bisan gani karon, ang wasay gikataon na diha sa gamut sa mga kahoy; busa ang tanang kahoy nga wala mamungag mga maayong bunga pagaputlon ug igasalibay ngadto sa kalayo."
10 And the multitudes asked him, saying, What then must we do?
Ug ang mga panon sa katawhan nangutana kaniya, "Nan, unsa may among buhaton?"
11 He answered and said to them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath food, let him do likewise.
Siya mitubag kanila, "Siya nga adunay duha kabuok kamisola, kinahanglan manghatag niadtong walay iya; ug siya nga adunay makaon, kinahanglan magahimo sa ingon."
12 And there came also publicans to be baptized, and said to him, Teacher, what must we do?
Ang mga maniningil sa buhis miabut usab aron sa pagpabautismo, ug sila miingon kaniya, "Magtutudlo, unsa may among buhaton?"
13 And he said to them, Exact no more than hath been ordered you.
Siya mitubag kanila, "Ayaw na kamo pagpaningil ug labaw sa ginatugot kaninyo."
14 And soldiers also asked him, saying, And what must we do? And he said to them, Do violence to no one, accuse no one falsely, and be content with your wages.
Ug ang mga sundalo usab nangutana kaniya, "Ug kami, unsa Memay among buhaton?" Siya mitubag kanila, "Ayaw na kamo pagpanguhag salapi pinaagi sa paglugos o sa pagbutangbutang, ug magpahiuyon lamang kamo sa inyong mga suhol."
15 And while the people were in expectation, and all were considering in their hearts concerning John, whether he were the Christ,
Ug samtang ang mga tawo nagmapaabuton, ug ang tanan nagtulotimbang diha sa ilang mga kasingkasing mahitungod kang Juan, kon mao na ba kaha siya ang Cristo,
16 John answered and said to them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but he who is mightier than I is coming, the latchet of whose sandals I am not worthy to loose; he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire.
"si Juan mitubag kanilang tanan, " Kaninyo nagabautismo ako sa tubig, apan adunay umalabut nga labi pang gamhanan kay kanako, nga bisan pa gani sa higut sa iyang mga sapin dili ako takus sa paghubad; kaninyo ang iyang igabautismo mao ang Espiritu Santo ug kalayo.
17 His winnowing-shovel is in his hand to thoroughly cleanse his threshing-floor, and gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.
"Ang iyang paliran anaa na sa iyang kamot aron sa paghinlo sa iyang giukan ug sa paghipos sa trigo ngadto sa iyang dapa, apan ang mga uhot iyang pagasunogon sa kalayo nga dili arang mapalong."
18 And giving many other exhortations he published the glad tidings to the people.
Sa ingon niini ug sa uban pang daghang mga pagpahamatngon, si Juan nagwali sa maayong balita ngadto sa mga tawo.
19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him on account of Herodias the wife of his brother, and on account of all the evil deeds which Herod had done,
Apan si Herodes nga gobernador, nga gibadlong niya tungod kang Herodias nga asawa sa igsoon niya ni Herodes, ug tungod sa tanang dautang butang nga nabuhat ni Herodes,
20 added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.
Midugang pa niini sa tanan, nga maa ang iyang pagbanlud kang Juan sa bilanggoan.
21 And it came to pass, when all the people had been baptized, and Jesus also had been baptized, and was praying, that the heaven was opened,
Ug sa nabautismohan na ang tanang tawo, ug sa diha nga si Jesus usab nabautismohan na ug nag-ampo, ang langit nabukas,
22 and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in a bodily shape as a dove; and a voice came from heaven: “Thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased.”

23 And Jesus himself was, when he began, about thirty years of age, being, as was supposed, the son of Joseph, who was the son of Heli,
