Luke 2
1 And it came to pass in those days that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be registered.
Det begaf sig i den tiden, att af Kejsar Augusto utgick ett bud, att all verlden skulle beskattas;
2 (This registering was the first made while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
Och denna beskattning var den första, och skedde under den höfdingen öfver Syrien, Cyrenio.
3 And all went to be registered, each to his own city.
Och de gingo alle, hvar uti sin stad, till att låta beskatta sig.
4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee out of the city of Nazareth into Judaea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,
Så for ock Joseph upp af Galileen, af den staden Nazareth, in uti Judiska landet, till Davids stad, som heter BethLehem; ty han var af Davids hus och slägt;
5 to be registered with Mary who had been betrothed to him, who was with child.
På det han skulle låta beskatta sig, med Maria, sin trolofvada hustru, hvilken hafvandes var.
6 And it came to pass, while they were there, that the days for her delivery were completed.
Så begaf sig, medan de voro der, vordo dagarna fullbordade att hon skulle föda.
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swathing-clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Och hon födde sin förstfödda Son, och svepte honom i lindakläder, och lade honom neder i en krubbo; ty dem var icke rum i herbergena.
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, and keeping watch over their flock by night.
Och i den samma ängden voro någre herdar, de der vakade, och höllo vård om nattena öfver sin hjord.
9 And an angel of the Lord came to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were in great fear.
Och si, Herrans Ängel stod när dem, och Herrans klarhet kringsken dem; och de vordo storliga förfärade.
10 And the angel said to them, Fear not; for lo! I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to the whole people;
Och sade Ängelen till dem: Varer icke förfärade; si, jag bådar eder stor glädje, hvilken allo folkena vederfaras skall;
11 for to you hath been born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, who is the Christ, the Lord.
Ty i dag är eder födder Frälsaren, som är Christus Herren, i Davids stad.
12 And this shall be the sign to you: Ye shall find a babe wrapped in swathing-clothes, [[lying]] in a manger.
Och detta skall vara eder för tecken: I skolen finna barnet svept i lindakläder, nederlagdt i en krubbo.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Och straxt vardt med Ängelen ett stort tal af den himmelska härskaran, de der lofvade Gud, och sade:
14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men of good will!”
Ära vare Gud i höjdene, och frid på jordene, och menniskomen en god vilje.
15 And it came to pass, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said one to another, Let us go at once to Bethlehem, and see that which hath come to pass, which the Lord hath made known to us.
Och det begaf sig, att Änglarna foro ifrå dem upp i himmelen, och herdarna begynte säga emellan sig: Låter oss nu gå till BethLehem, och se det som vi hafve hört skedt vara, det Herren oss uppenbarat hafver.
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger.
Och de gingo hasteliga, och funno Maria, och Joseph, och barnet nederlagdt i krubbon.
17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad what had been told them concerning this child.
Och då de det sett hade, beryktade de ut hvad dem sagdt var om detta barnet.
18 And all who heard wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds.
Och alle, de det hörde, förundrade sig på de ting, som dem sagd voro af herdarna.
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
Men Maria gömde all dessa ord, betraktandes dem i sitt hjerta.
20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all which they had heard and seen, as had been told them.
Och herdarna gingo tillbaka igen, prisade och lofvade Gud öfver allt det de hört och sett hade, såsom dem sagdt var.
21 And when eight days were completed for him to be circumcised, his name was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
Och då åtta dagar voro framgångne, att barnet skulle omskäras, kallades hans Namn JESUS; hvilket så kalladt var af Ängelen, förr än han aflad vardt i moderlifvet.
22 And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord,
Och då deras renselsedagar voro fullkomnade, efter Mose lag, hade de honom till Jerusalem, på det de skulle bära honom fram för Herran;
23 as it is written in the law of the Lord: “Every first-born male shall be called holy to the Lord,”
Såsom skrifvet är i Herrans lag: Allt mankön, som först öppnar moderlifvet, skall kallas heligt Herranom;
24 and to offer a sacrifice, according to what is directed in the law of the Lord: “A pair of turtle doves, or two young pigeons.”
Och på det de skulle offra, såsom sagdt var i Herrans lag, ett par turturdufvor, eller två unga dufvor.
25 And lo! there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and he was a righteous and devout man, waiting for the consolation of Israel. And the Holy Spirit was upon him;
Och si, i Jerusalem var en man, benämnd Simeon, och den mannen var rättfärdig och gudfruktig, och vänte efter Israels tröst; och den Helge Ande var med honom.
26 and it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death before he had seen the Christ of the Lord.
Och han hade fått svar af den Helga Anda, att han icke skulle se döden, utan han hade sett tillförene Herrans Christ.
27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the law,
Och han kom af Andans tillskyndelse i templet. Och föräldrarna båro in barnet Jesum, att de skulle göra för honom, såsom sedvänja var i lagen.
28 he took him in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
Då tog han honom i sin famn, och lofvade Gud, och sade:
29 Lord! now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word;
Herre, nu låter du din tjenare fara i frid, efter som du sagt hafver;
30 for mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
Ty min ögon hafva sett dina salighet;
31 which thou hast prepared before the face of all the peoples;
Hvilka du beredt hafver för allo folke;
32 a light to enlighten the gentiles, and to be the glory of thy people Israel.
Ett Ljus till Hedningarnas upplysning, och ditt folk Israel till pris.
33 And his father and his mother marveled at what was spoken concerning him.
Och Joseph och hans moder förundrade sig på det, som sades om honom.
34 And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that will be spoken against; —
Och Simeon välsignade dem, och sade till Maria, hans moder: Si, denne är satt till ett fall och uppståndelse mångom i Israel, och till ett tecken, hvilko emot sagdt varder.
35 yea, a sword will pierce through thine own soul, —that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
Ja, ett svärd skall ock gå igenom dina själ, på det mång hjertans tankar skola uppenbaras.
36 And there was Anna, a prophetess, daughter of Phanuel: of the tribe of Asher; she was of great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity;
Och der var en Prophetissa, benämnd Hanna, Phanuels dotter, af Assurs slägte; hon var kommen till en stor ålder, och hade lefvat i sju år med sin man, ifrå sin jungfrudom;
37 and she was a widow eighty-four years old, who never left the temple, worshipping with fastings and prayers night and day.
Och var nu en enka, vid fyra och åttatio år; hon kom aldrig bort utu templet, tjenandes Gudi, med fasto och böner, natt och dag.
38 And she came up at this very time, and gave thanks to God, and spoke of him to all that were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
Hon kom ock dertill i samma stundene, och prisade Herran; och talade om honom till alla dem, som i Jerusalem vänte förlossning.
39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
Och då de all ting fullbordat hade efter Herrans lag, drogo de in i Galileen igen, uti sin stad Nazareth.
40 And the child grew, and waxed strong, being filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon him.
Men barnet växte upp, och förstärktes i Andanom, och uppfylldes med vishet; och Guds nåd var med honom.
41 Now his parents used to go yearly to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover.
Och hans föräldrar gingo årliga till Jerusalem, till Påskahögtiden.
42 And when he was twelve years old, and they went up, after the custom of the feast,
Och då han vardt tolf åra gammal, och de uppfarne voro till Jerusalem, efter högtidenes sedvänjo;
43 and had completed the days, on their returning, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and his parents did not know it,
Och de fullkomnat hade dagarna, och gingo hem igen, blef pilten Jesus qvar i Jerusalem, och Joseph och hans moder visste der intet af.
44 but, supposing him to be in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance;
Men de mente, att han var i sällskapet, och de gingo ena dagsled, och sökte honom ibland fränder och vänner.
45 and not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem in search of him.
Och då de icke funno honom, gingo de till Jerusalem igen, och sökte honom.
46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.
Så begaf det sig, efter tre dagar funno de honom i templet, sittandes midt ibland de lärare, hörandes dem, och frågandes dem;
47 And all who heard him were astonished at his understanding and his answers.
Och alle, de honom hörde, förskräckte sig öfver hans förstånd och svar.
48 And when they saw him, they were amazed; and his mother said to him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have been seeking thee in much distress.
Och då de sågo honom, förundrade de sig; och hans moder sade till honom: Min Son, hvi gjorde du oss detta? Si, din fader och jag hafve sökt efter dig sörjande.
49 And he said to them, Why is it that ye have been seeking me? Did ye not know that I must be about my Father's business?
Och han sade till dem: Hvad är det, att I sökten mig? Vissten I icke, att uti de stycker, som min Fader tillhöra, bör mig vara?
50 And they understood not what he spoke to them.
Och de förstodo icke ordet, som han med dem talade.
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them. And his mother kept all these things in her heart.
Och så for han ned med dem, och kom till Nazareth, och var dem underdånig; men hans moder gömde all dessa ord uti sitt hjerta.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
Och Jesus växte till i visdom, ålder och nåde, för Gud och menniskor.
