Luke 2
1 And it came to pass in those days that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be registered.
A w tych dniach wyszedł dekret cesarza Augusta, aby spisano cały świat.
2 (This registering was the first made while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
A ten pierwszy spis odbył się, gdy Kwiryniusz był namiestnikiem Syrii.
3 And all went to be registered, each to his own city.
Szli więc wszyscy, aby dać się spisać, każdy do swego miasta.
4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee out of the city of Nazareth into Judaea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,
Poszedł też Józef z Galilei, z miasta Nazaret, do Judei, do miasta Dawida, zwanego Betlejem, ponieważ pochodził z domu i z rodu Dawida;
5 to be registered with Mary who had been betrothed to him, who was with child.

6 And it came to pass, while they were there, that the days for her delivery were completed.

7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swathing-clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
I urodziła swego pierworodnego syna, owinęła go w pieluszki i położyła w żłobie, gdyż nie było dla nich miejsca w gospodzie.
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, and keeping watch over their flock by night.
A byli w tej okolicy pasterze przebywający w polu i trzymający straż nocną nad swoim stadem.
9 And an angel of the Lord came to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were in great fear.
I oto stanął przy nich anioł Pana, a chwała Pana zewsząd ich oświeciła. I ogarnął ich wielki strach.
10 And the angel said to them, Fear not; for lo! I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to the whole people;
I powiedział do nich anioł: Nie bójcie się, bo oto zwiastuję wam wielką radość, która będzie [udziałem] całego ludu.
11 for to you hath been born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, who is the Christ, the Lord.
Dziś bowiem w mieście Dawida narodził się wam Zbawiciel, którym jest Chrystus Pan.
12 And this shall be the sign to you: Ye shall find a babe wrapped in swathing-clothes, [[lying]] in a manger.
A to [będzie] dla was znakiem: Znajdziecie niemowlę owinięte w pieluszki i leżące w żłobie.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
I zaraz z aniołem przybyło mnóstwo wojsk niebieskich chwalących Boga i mówiących:
14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men of good will!”
Chwała na wysokościach Bogu, a na ziemi pokój, wobec ludzi dobra wola.
15 And it came to pass, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said one to another, Let us go at once to Bethlehem, and see that which hath come to pass, which the Lord hath made known to us.
A gdy aniołowie odeszli od nich do nieba, pasterze mówili między sobą: Chodźmy aż do Betlejem i zobaczmy to, co się wydarzyło, a co Pan nam oznajmił.
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger.
Spiesząc się więc, przyszli i znaleźli Marię, Józefa i niemowlę leżące w żłobie.
17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad what had been told them concerning this child.
A ujrzawszy, rozgłosili to, co zostało im powiedziane o tym dziecku.
18 And all who heard wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds.
A wszyscy, którzy słyszeli, dziwili się temu, co pasterze im mówili.
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
Lecz Maria zachowywała wszystkie te słowa, rozważając je w swoim sercu.
20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all which they had heard and seen, as had been told them.
I wrócili pasterze, wielbiąc i chwaląc Boga za wszystko, co słyszeli i widzieli, tak jak im zostało powiedziane.
21 And when eight days were completed for him to be circumcised, his name was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
A gdy minęło osiem dni i [należało] obrzezać dziecko, nadano mu imię Jezus, którym nazwał je anioł, zanim się poczęło w łonie.
22 And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord,
Gdy też według Prawa Mojżesza minęły dni jej oczyszczenia, przynieśli go do Jerozolimy, aby stawić go przed Panem;
23 as it is written in the law of the Lord: “Every first-born male shall be called holy to the Lord,”
(Tak jak jest napisane w Prawie Pana: Każdy mężczyzna otwierający łono będzie nazywany świętym Panu);
24 and to offer a sacrifice, according to what is directed in the law of the Lord: “A pair of turtle doves, or two young pigeons.”

25 And lo! there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and he was a righteous and devout man, waiting for the consolation of Israel. And the Holy Spirit was upon him;
A był w Jerozolimie człowiek imieniem Symeon. Ten człowiek był sprawiedliwy i bogobojny, oczekujący pociechy Izraela, a Duch Święty był nad nim.
26 and it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death before he had seen the Christ of the Lord.
I objawił mu Bóg przez Ducha Świętego, że nie ujrzy śmierci, dopóki nie zobaczy Chrystusa Pańskiego.
27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the law,
Przyszedł on [prowadzony] przez Ducha [Świętego] do świątyni. A gdy rodzice wnosili dziecko – Jezusa, aby postąpić z nim według zwyczaju prawa;
28 he took him in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
Wtedy on, wziąwszy go na ręce, chwalił Boga i mówił:
29 Lord! now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word;
Teraz pozwalasz odejść twemu słudze, Panie, w pokoju, według twego słowa;
30 for mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
Gdyż moje oczy ujrzały twoje zbawienie;
31 which thou hast prepared before the face of all the peoples;
Które przygotowałeś wobec wszystkich ludzi;
32 a light to enlighten the gentiles, and to be the glory of thy people Israel.
Światłość na oświecenie pogan i chwałę twego ludu, Izraela.
33 And his father and his mother marveled at what was spoken concerning him.
A Józef i jego matka dziwili się temu, co o nim mówiono.
34 And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that will be spoken against; —
I błogosławił im Symeon, i powiedział do Marii, jego matki: Oto ten położony jest na upadek i na powstanie wielu w Izraelu, i na znak, przeciwko któremu będą mówić;
35 yea, a sword will pierce through thine own soul, —that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
(I twoją duszę miecz przeniknie), aby myśli wielu serc zostały objawione.
36 And there was Anna, a prophetess, daughter of Phanuel: of the tribe of Asher; she was of great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity;
A była [tam] prorokini Anna, córka Fanuela, z pokolenia Asera, która była w bardzo podeszłym wieku, a żyła siedem lat z mężem od swego dziewictwa.
37 and she was a widow eighty-four years old, who never left the temple, worshipping with fastings and prayers night and day.

38 And she came up at this very time, and gave thanks to God, and spoke of him to all that were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
Ona też, przyszedłszy w tej właśnie chwili, dziękowała Panu i mówiła o nim wszystkim, którzy oczekiwali odkupienia w Jerozolimie.
39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
A gdy wykonali wszystko według prawa Pana, wrócili do Galilei, do swego miasta, Nazaretu.
40 And the child grew, and waxed strong, being filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon him.
Dziecko zaś rosło i umacniało się w duchu, będąc pełne mądrości, a łaska Boga była nad nim.
41 Now his parents used to go yearly to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover.
A jego rodzice chodzili co roku do Jerozolimy na święto Paschy.
42 And when he was twelve years old, and they went up, after the custom of the feast,
I gdy miał dwanaście lat, poszli do Jerozolimy, zgodnie ze zwyczajem tego święta.
43 and had completed the days, on their returning, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and his parents did not know it,
A gdy minęły te dni i już wracali, dziecię Jezus zostało w Jerozolimie, ale Józef i jego matka [o tym] nie wiedzieli.
44 but, supposing him to be in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance;
Lecz sądząc, że jest w towarzystwie podróżnych, przeszli dzień drogi i szukali go wśród krewnych i znajomych.
45 and not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem in search of him.
A gdy go nie znaleźli, wrócili do Jerozolimy, szukając go.
46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.
A po trzech dniach znaleźli go siedzącego w świątyni wśród nauczycieli, słuchającego i pytającego ich.
47 And all who heard him were astonished at his understanding and his answers.
I wszyscy, którzy go słuchali, zdumiewali się jego rozumem i odpowiedziami.
48 And when they saw him, they were amazed; and his mother said to him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have been seeking thee in much distress.
A [rodzice], ujrzawszy go, zdziwili się. I powiedziała do niego jego matka: Synu, dlaczego nam to zrobiłeś? Oto twój ojciec i ja z bólem [serca] szukaliśmy ciebie.
49 And he said to them, Why is it that ye have been seeking me? Did ye not know that I must be about my Father's business?
I powiedział do nich: Czemu mnie szukaliście? Czy nie wiedzieliście, że muszę być w tym, co należy do mego Ojca?
50 And they understood not what he spoke to them.
Lecz oni nie zrozumieli tych słów, które im mówił.
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them. And his mother kept all these things in her heart.
Wtedy poszedł z nimi i wrócił do Nazaretu, i był im posłuszny. A jego matka zachowywała wszystkie te słowa w swoim sercu.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
A Jezusowi przybywało mądrości i wzrostu oraz łaski u Boga i u ludzi.
