Luke 18
1 And he spoke a parable to them to show that they ought to pray always, and not be faint-hearted:
Er legte ihnen dann ein Gleichnis vor, um sie darauf hinzuweisen, daß man allezeit beten müsse und nicht müde darin werden dürfe.
2 saying, There was in a certain city a judge, who feared not God, nor regarded man.
»In einer Stadt«, so sagte er, »lebte ein Richter, der Gott nicht fürchtete und auf keinen Menschen Rücksicht nahm.
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she kept coming to him, saying, Avenge me of my adversary!
Nun wohnte in jener Stadt eine Witwe, die (immer wieder) zu ihm kam mit dem Anliegen: ›Schaffe mir Recht gegen meinen Widersacher!‹
4 And he would not for some time. But afterward he said within himself, Though I neither fear God, nor regard man,
Lange Zeit wollte er nicht; schließlich aber dachte er bei sich: ›Wenn ich auch Gott nicht fürchte und auf keinen Menschen Rücksicht nehme,
5 yet, because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her; lest by coming for ever she weary me out.
will ich dieser Witwe doch zu ihrem Recht verhelfen, weil sie mir lästig fällt; sonst kommt sie schließlich noch und wird handgreiflich gegen mich.‹«
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
Dann fuhr der Herr fort: »Hört, was (hier) der ungerechte Richter sagt!
7 And will not God avenge his chosen, who cry to him day and night, though he be slow to punish in their behalf?
Sollte nun Gott nicht auch seinen Auserwählten Recht schaffen, die Tag und Nacht zu ihm rufen, auch wenn er Langmut bei ihnen übt?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. But yet, when the Son of man cometh, will he find faith on the earth?
Ich sage euch: Er wird ihnen gar bald ihr Recht schaffen! Doch wird wohl der Menschensohn bei seinem Kommen den Glauben auf Erden vorfinden?«
9 And to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised all others, he spoke this parable:
Er legte dann auch einigen, die von ihrer eigenen Gerechtigkeit überzeugt waren und auf die anderen mit Geringschätzung herabsahen, folgendes Gleichnis vor:
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
»Zwei Männer gingen in den Tempel hinauf, um zu beten, der eine ein Pharisäer, der andere ein Zöllner.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed by himself thus: O God, I thank thee that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
Der Pharisäer trat hin und betete bei sich so: ›O Gott, ich danke dir, daß ich nicht bin wie die anderen Menschen, Räuber, Betrüger, Ehebrecher oder auch wie der Zöllner dort.
12 I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I gain.
Ich faste zweimal in der Woche und gebe den Zehnten von allem, was ich erwerbe.‹
13 But the publican, standing afar off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven; but smote his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me a sinner!
Der Zöllner dagegen stand von ferne und mochte nicht einmal die Augen zum Himmel erheben, sondern schlug sich an die Brust und sagte: ›Gott, sei mir Sünder gnädig!‹
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for every one that exalteth himself will be humbled; but he that humbleth himself will be exalted.
Ich sage euch: Dieser ging gerechtfertigt in sein Haus hinab, ganz anders, als es bei jenem der Fall war! Denn wer sich selbst erhöht, wird erniedrigt werden; wer sich aber selbst erniedrigt, wird erhöht werden.«
15 And they brought to him infants also, that he might touch them; and the disciples, on seeing it, rebuked them.
Die Leute brachten aber auch ihre kleinen Kinder zu ihm, damit er sie anrühre; als die Jünger das sahen, verwiesen sie es ihnen in barscher Weise.
16 But Jesus called them to him, saying, Suffer the little children to come to me, and forbid them not; for to such belongeth the kingdom of God.
Jesus aber rief sie zu sich heran und sagte: »Laßt die Kinder zu mir kommen und hindert sie nicht daran,
17 Truly do I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, will not enter therein.
denn für ihresgleichen ist das Reich Gottes bestimmt. Wahrlich ich sage euch: Wer das Reich Gottes nicht wie ein Kind annimmt, wird sicherlich nicht hineinkommen.«
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good teacher, what shall I do to inherit everlasting life? (aiōnios g166)
Hierauf richtete ein Oberster die Frage an ihn: »Guter Meister, was muß ich tun, um ewiges Leben zu ererben?« (aiōnios g166)
19 And Jesus said to him, Why dost thou call me good? None is good but one, that is, God.
Jesus antwortete ihm: »Was nennst du mich gut? Niemand ist gut als Gott allein.
20 Thou knowest the commandments: “Do not commit adultery; Do not kill; Do not steal; Do not bear false witness; Honor thy father and thy mother.”
Du kennst die Gebote: Du sollst nicht ehebrechen, nicht töten, nicht stehlen, nicht falsches Zeugnis ablegen, ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter!«
21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth.
Darauf erwiderte jener: »Dies alles habe ich von Jugend an gehalten.«
22 And Jesus hearing this said to him, One thing thou still lackest: sell all that thou hast, and distribute to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.
Als Jesus das hörte, sagte er zu ihm: »Eins fehlt dir noch: Verkaufe alles, was du besitzest, und verteile den Erlös an die Armen, so wirst du einen Schatz im Himmel haben; dann komm und folge mir nach.«
23 But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful; for he was very rich.
Als jener das hörte, wurde er tief betrübt; denn er war sehr reich.
24 And Jesus seeing him said, How hardly do they that have riches enter the kingdom of God!
Als Jesus ihn so sah, sagte er: »Wie schwer ist es doch für die Begüterten, in das Reich Gottes einzugehen!
25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
Ja, es ist leichter, daß ein Kamel durch ein Nadelöhr hindurchgeht, als daß ein Reicher in das Reich Gottes eingeht.«
26 And those who heard this said, Who then can be saved?
Da sagten die Zuhörer: »Ja, wer kann dann gerettet werden?«
27 But he said, What is impossible with men is possible with God.
Jesus aber antwortete: »Was bei Menschen unmöglich ist, das ist bei Gott möglich.«
28 Then Peter said, Lo! we left what we had, and followed thee.
Darauf sagte Petrus: »Siehe, wir haben alles Unsrige verlassen und sind dir nachgefolgt.«
29 And he said to them, Truly do I say to you, There is no one that hath left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
Da sagte Jesus zu ihnen: »Wahrlich ich sage euch: Niemand hat Haus oder Weib, Geschwister, Eltern oder Kinder um des Reiches Gottes willen verlassen,
31 And taking the twelve aside, he said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all that hath been written by the prophets concerning the Son of man will be accomplished.
Er nahm dann die Zwölf zu sich (abseits) und sagte zu ihnen: »Wir ziehen jetzt nach Jerusalem hinauf, und es wird alles in Erfüllung gehen, was durch die Propheten von dem Menschensohn geschrieben ist.
32 For he will be delivered up to the gentiles, and will be mocked, and insulted, and spit upon;
Denn er wird den Heiden überliefert und verspottet, mißhandelt und angespien werden,
33 and they will scourge him, and put him to death; and the third day he will rise again.
und sie werden ihn geißeln und töten, und am dritten Tage wird er auferstehen.«
34 And they understood none of these things; and the meaning of these words was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend what was said.
Doch sie verstanden nichts hiervon, sondern dieser Ausspruch war ihnen dunkel, und sie begriffen nicht, was er mit diesem Wort hatte sagen wollen.
35 And it came to pass, as he drew near to Jericho, that a certain blind man was sitting by the wayside begging.
Als er dann in die Nähe von Jericho kam, saß da ein Blinder am Wege und bettelte.
36 And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what this meant.
Als dieser nun die vielen Leute vorüberziehen hörte, erkundigte er sich, was das zu bedeuten habe.
37 And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
Man teilte ihm mit, daß Jesus von Nazareth vorübergehe.
38 And he cried out, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!
Da rief er laut: »Jesus, Sohn Davids, erbarme dich meiner!«
39 And they who went before sharply bade him hold his peace. But he cried out the more, Son of David, have pity on me!
Die an der Spitze des Zuges Gehenden riefen ihm drohend zu, er solle still sein; doch er rief nur noch lauter: »Sohn Davids, erbarme dich meiner!«
40 And Jesus stopped, and ordered him to be brought to him. And when he had come near, he asked him,
Da blieb Jesus stehen und ließ ihn zu sich führen. Als er nun nahe herangekommen war, fragte Jesus ihn:
41 What dost thou wish me to do for thee? And he said, Lord, to restore my sight.
»Was wünschest du von mir?« Er antwortete: »Herr, ich möchte sehen können.«
42 And Jesus said to him, Receive thy sight; thy faith hath saved thee.
Jesus erwiderte ihm: »Werde sehend! Dein Glaube hat dir Rettung verschafft.«
43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, giving glory to God; and all the people on seeing it gave praise to God.
Da konnte er augenblicklich sehen und schloß sich ihm an, indem er Gott pries; auch das gesamte Volk, das zugesehen hatte, gab Gott die Ehre durch Lobpreis.
