Luke 10
1 After these things, the Lord appointed also seventy others, and sent them two and two before him into every city and place where he himself was about to come.
Après cela, Jésus désigna encore soixante-dix autres disciples, et les envoya devant lui, deux à deux, dans toutes les villes et dans tous les lieux, où lui-même devait aller.
2 And he said to them, The harvest is great, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers for his harvest.
Et il leur dit: «La moisson est grande, mais il y a peu d'ouvriers; priez donc le maître de la moisson d'envoyer des ouvriers dans sa moisson.
3 Go forth; lo! I send you as lambs into the midst of wolves.
Allez, je vous envoie comme des agneaux au milieu des loups.
4 Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; salute no one by the way.
Ne prenez ni bourse, ni sac, ni sandales, et ne saluez personne en chemin.
5 And into whatever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
Dans quelque maison que vous entriez, dites d'abord:
6 And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it; if not, it shall return to you.
«Que la paix soit sur cette maison!» et s'il se trouve là quelque enfant de paix, la paix que vous aurez souhaitée reposera sur lui; sinon, elle reviendra à vous.
7 And abide in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give; for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house.
Demeurez dans cette même maison, mangez et buvez ce qu'on vous donnera; car l'ouvrier mérite son salaire. Ne passez point d'une maison dans une autre.
8 And into whatever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat what is set before you,
Dans quelque ville que vous entriez, si l'on vous reçoit, mangez ce qu'on vous servira;
9 and heal the sick that are therein, and say to them, The kingdom of God hath come near to you.
guérissez les malades qui s'y trouveront, et dites aux habitants: «Le royaume de Dieu est proche de vous.»
10 But into whatever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go out into its streets and say,
Dans quelque ville que vous entriez, si l’on ne vous reçoit pas, allez dans les rues, et dites:
11 Even the dust of your city that cleaveth to our feet we wipe off to you; but know this, that the kingdom of God hath come near.
«Nous secouons de nos pieds, pour vous la rendre, même la poussière qui s'y est attachée dans votre ville; pourtant, sachez-le bien, le royaume de Dieu est proche.»
12 And I tell you, that it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.
Je vous déclare qu'au dernier jour, Sodome sera traitée moins rigoureusement que cette ville-là.
13 Woe to thee, Chorazin! woe to thee, Bethsaida! for if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
Malheur à toi, Chorazin! Malheur à toi Bethsaïde! car si les miracles qui ont été faits au milieu de vous avaient été faits dans Tyr et dans Sidon, il y a longtemps qu'elles se seraient repenties sous le sac et la cendre.
14 But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment, than for you.
Mais au jour du jugement Tyr et Sidon seront traitées moins rigoureusement que vous.
15 And thou, Capernaum! shalt thou be exalted to heaven? thou shalt be brought down to the underworld. (Hadēs g86)
Et toi, Capernaoum, qui as été élevée jusqu'au ciel, tu seras abaissée jusqu'aux enfers. (Hadēs g86)
16 He that hearkeneth to you, hearkeneth to me; and he that rejecteth you, rejecteth me; but he that rejecteth me, rejecteth him that sent me.
Qui vous écoute, m'écoute; qui vous rejette, me rejette; et qui me rejette, rejette celui qui m'a envoyé.»
17 And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in thy name.
Les soixante et dix disciples revinrent pleins de joie, disant: «Seigneur, les démons mêmes se soumettent à nous en ton nom!»
18 And he said to them, I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning.
Il leur dit: «Je voyais Satan tomber du ciel comme un éclair.
19 Lo! I have given you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the might of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Je vous ai donné le pouvoir de fouler aux pieds les serpents et les scorpions, et toutes les forces de l'ennemi, sans qu'elles puissent aucunement vous nuire;
20 Yet rejoice not in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rejoice that your names have been written in heaven.
seulement ne vous réjouissez pas de ce que les esprits se soumettent à vous, mais réjouissez-vous de ce que vos noms sont écrits dans les cieux.»
21 In that hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that, though thou didst hide these things from the wise and discerning, thou didst reveal them to babes. Yea, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight. And turning to the disciples he said,
En ce moment même, Jésus tressaillit de joie en son esprit, et dit: «Je te loue, Père, Seigneur du ciel et de la terre, de ce que tu as caché ces choses aux sages et aux intelligents, et de ce que tu les as révélées aux enfants; oui, Père, je te loue de ce que tel a été ton bon plaisir.»
22 All things were delivered to me by my Father; and no one knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom it is the will of the Son to reveal him.
Et se tournant vers ses disciples, il dit: «Toutes choses m'ont été enseignées par mon Père; et personne ne connaît ce qu'est le Fils, que le Père, ni ce qu'est le Père, que le Fils, et que celui à qui le Fils le veut bien révéler.»
23 And turning to the disciples, he said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye are seeing.
Puis se tournant vers ses disciples, il leur dit en particulier: «Heureux les yeux qui voient ce que vous voyez!
24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which ye are seeing, and saw them not; and to hear the things which ye are hearing, and heard them not.
Car je vous dis que beaucoup de prophètes et de rois ont désiré de voir ce que vous voyez, et ne l'ont pas vu; d'entendre ce que vous entendez, et ne l'ont pas entendu.»
25 And lo! a certain lawyer stood up to try him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit everlasting life? (aiōnios g166)
Un docteur de la Loi, qui voulait mettre Jésus à l'épreuve, se leva et lui dit: «Maître, que faut-il que je fasse pour obtenir la vie éternelle?» (aiōnios g166)
26 And he said to him, What is written in the Law? How readest thou?
Jésus lui répondit: «Que dit la Loi? Qu'y lis-tu?»
27 And he answering said “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.”
Il repartit: «Tu aimeras le Seigneur ton Dieu de tout ton coeur, de toute ton âme, de toute ta force et de toute ta pensée; et ton prochain comme toi-même.»
28 And he said to him, Thou hast answered rightly; do this, and thou shalt live.
Jésus lui dit: «Tu as bien répondu: fais cela, et tu vivras.»
29 But he, wishing to justify himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?
Cet homme voulant se justifier lui-même, dit à Jésus: «Et qui est mon prochain?»
30 Jesus answering said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers; who after stripping him of his raiment, and wounding him, departed, leaving him half dead.
Jésus reprit: «Un homme, qui descendait de Jérusalem à Jéricho, tomba au milieu des voleurs: ils le dépouillèrent, le chargèrent de coups, et s'en allèrent, le laissant à demi mort.
31 And by chance a certain priest was going down on that road; and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
Un sacrificateur, qui par hasard descendait par ce chemin, ayant vu ce malheureux, passa devant lui sans s'arrêter.
32 And in like manner also a Levite, having arrived at the place, came and saw, and passed by on the other side.
De même, un lévite, étant arrivé dans cet endroit, s'avança, et l'ayant vu, passa devant lui sans s'arrêter.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he was journeying, came where he was, and when he saw him, had compassion,
Mais un Samaritain, qui voyageait, étant venu dans ce lieu, et ayant vu cet homme, fut touché de compassion.
34 and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine, and setting him on his own beast, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
Il s'approcha, banda ses blessures, après y avoir versé de l'huile et du vin; puis, l'ayant mis sur sa propre monture, il le mena dans une hôtellerie et prit soin de lui.
35 And the next day, he took out two denaries and gave them to the host, and said, Take care of him; and whatever thou spendest more, I, when I come back, will repay thee.
Le lendemain matin, en partant, il tira de sa bourse deux deniers, les donna à l'hôte, et dit: «Aie soin de lui, et, ce que tu dépenseras de plus, je te le rendrai à mon retour.»
36 Which of these three, dost thou think, was neighbor to him that fell among the robbers?
Lequel des trois te semble avoir été le prochain de celui qui était tombé au milieu des voleurs.»
37 And he said, He that took pity on him. Then said Jesus to him, Go, and do thou likewise.
Il dit: «C'est celui qui a exercé la miséricorde envers lui.» Jésus lui dit: «Va, et fais de même.»
38 And it came to pass, as they journeyed, that he entered into a certain village; and a certain woman, named Martha, received him into her house.
Pendant qu'il était en route avec ses disciples, il entra dans un village; une femme, nommée Marthe, le reçut dans sa maison.
39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat down at the feet of the Lord, and listened to his word.
Elle avait une soeur, nommée Marie, qui, s'étant assise aux pieds de Jésus, écoutait sa parole,
40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving; and she came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? Tell her therefore to help me.
tandis qu'elle-même était distraite par les soins nombreux du ménage. Marthe s'étant approchée, dit à Jésus: «Seigneur, ne vois-tu pas que ma soeur me laisse toute la tâche? Dis-lui donc de m'aider.»
41 But the Lord answering said to her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things.
Mais il lui répondit: «Marthe, Marthe, tu t'inquiètes et tu t'agites pour beaucoup de choses; une seule chose est nécessaire.
42 But one thing is needful. For Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Marie a choisi la bonne part, qui ne lui sera point ôtée.»
