Jonah 1

1 Now the word of Jehovah came to Jonah, the son of Amittai, saying,

فەرمایشتی یەزدان بۆ یونسی کوڕی ئەمیتەی هات، پێی فەرموو:

2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.

«هەستە بڕۆ بۆ شاری مەزنی نەینەوا و بانگەوازی دژایەتی بکە، چونکە خراپەکانیان بەرز بووەتەوە بۆ بەردەمم.»

3 But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah; and he went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish, and paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah.

یونسیش بۆ ئەوەی لە یەزدان هەڵبێت دەستی بە گەشتێک کرد بۆ تەرشیش. سەرەتا چوو بۆ بەندەری یافا و کەشتییەکی دۆزییەوە کە دەچووە تەرشیش، کرێیەکەی دا و سوار بوو، بۆ ئەوەی لەگەڵیان بچێتە تەرشیش و خۆی لە ڕووی یەزدان بدزێتەوە.

4 But Jehovah sent forth a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken in pieces.

یەزدانیش بایەکی مەزنی بۆ سەر دەریاکە نارد و ڕەشەبایەکی مەزن لە دەریاکە هەڵیکرد، خەریک بوو کەشتییەکە پارچەپارچە بێت.

5 Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man to his god. And they cast forth the things that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah had gone down to the lower part of the ship, and he lay and was fast asleep.

کەشتیوانەکان ترسان، هەریەکەیان هاواری بۆ خوداوەندەکەی خۆی کرد، ئەو شتانەی کە لەناو کەشتییەکەدا بوون فڕێیان دایە ناو دەریاکە، بۆ ئەوەی باری خۆیان سووک بکەن. کەچی یونس چوو بووە نهۆمی خوارەوەی کەشتییەکە و پاڵکەوتبوو، لە خەوێکی قووڵدا بوو.

6 And the shipmaster came to him, and said to him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? Arise, call upon thy God! Perhaps God will think upon us, that we perish not.

سەرۆکی سەوڵ لێدەرەکان چووە لای و پێی گوت: «ئەوە بۆچی نوستوویت؟ هەستە هاوار بکە بۆ خوداوەندەکەت، بەڵکو ئاوڕمان لێ بداتەوە و لەناونەچین.»

7 And they said one to another, come, and let us cast lots, that we may know on whose account this evil is upon us! And they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah.

ئینجا کەشتیوانەکان بە یەکتریان گوت: «وەرن با تیروپشک بکەین، بۆ ئەوەی بزانین ئەم بەڵایە بەهۆی کێیە.» ئیتر تیروپشکیان کرد و کەوتە سەر یونس.

8 Then said they to him, Tell us, we pray thee, on whose account this evil is upon us. What is thy business? And whence comest thou? What is thy country? And of what people art thou?

لێیان پرسی: «پێمان بڵێ بەهۆی کێ تووشی ئەم بەڵایە بووین؟ ئیشت چییە و لەکوێوە هاتوویت؟ سەر بە چ خاکێکیت و لە چ نەتەوەیەکیت؟»

9 And he said to them, I am a Hebrew; and I fear Jehovah, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.

ئەویش وەڵامی دانەوە: «من عیبرانیم و لە یەزدان دەترسم، خودای ئاسمان، ئەوەی دەریا و وشکانیی دروستکردووە.»

10 Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said to him, Wherefore hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of Jehovah, because he had told them.

پیاوەکان ترسێکی زۆریان لێ نیشت و لێیان پرسی: «بۆچی ئەمەت کرد؟» پیاوەکان زانییان کە لە یەزدان هەڵاتووە، چونکە پێشتر پێی گوتبوون.

11 Then said they to him, What shall we do to thee, that the sea may be calm to us? For the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

لێیان پرسی: «چیت لێ بکەین بۆ ئەوەی دەریاکە هێمن بێتەوە؟» چونکە دەریاکە زیاتر هەڵدەچوو.

12 And he said to them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; and the sea shall be calm to you. For I know that because of me this great tempest is upon you.

ئەویش وەڵامی دانەوە: «بمبەن و فڕێمبدەنە ناو دەریاکەوە، ئیتر دەریاکەتان لێ هێمن دەبێتەوە، چونکە من دەزانم بەهۆی منەوەیە ئەم ڕەشەبا مەزنەتان لەسەرە.»

13 Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring the ship to the land; but they could not; for the sea grew more and more tempestuous against them.

بەڵام پیاوەکان زیاتر و زیاتر سەوڵیان لێدەدا بۆ ئەوەی کەشتییەکە بگەڕێننەوە بۆ وشکانی، کەچی نەیانتوانی، چونکە دەریاکە زیاتر هەڵدەچوو.

14 And they cried to Jehovah, and said, We beseech thee, O Jehovah, we beseech thee, let us not perish for the life of this man, and lay not upon us innocent blood! For thou, O Jehovah, hast done as it pleased thee.

ئیتر هاواریان بۆ یەزدان کرد و گوتیان: «ئای ئەی یەزدان، با لەناونەچین، لەبەر گیانی ئەم پیاوە خوێنی بێتاوانێک مەخەرە ئەستۆمان. ئەی یەزدان، ئەوەی ویستت کردت.»

15 And they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea; and the sea ceased from its raging.

ئینجا یونسیان گرت و فڕێیان دایە ناو دەریاکەوە، ئیتر هاژەی دەریاکە هێمن بووەوە.

16 Then the men feared Jehovah exceedingly, and offered sacrifice to Jehovah, and made vows.

پیاوەکان زۆر لە یەزدان ترسان و قوربانییان بۆ یەزدان سەربڕی و نەزریان کرد.

17 Now Jehovah had appointed a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

یەزدانیش ماسییەکی ئامادە کرد کە زۆر گەورە بوو بۆ ئەوەی یونس قووت بدات، ئیتر یونس سێ شەو و سێ ڕۆژ لەناو سکی ماسییەکەدا مایەوە.
