John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
En el principio ya era el Verbo; y el Verbo era con Dios, y Dios era el Verbo.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Éste era en el principio con Dios.
3 All things were made through him; and without him was nothing made that hath been made.
Todas las cosas por éste fueron hechas; y sin él nada de lo que es hecho, fue hecho.
4 In him is life; and the life was the light of men.
En él estaba la vida, y la vida era la luz de los hombres.
5 And the light hath been shining in the darkness; and the darkness received it not.
Y la luz en las tinieblas resplandece; y las tinieblas no la comprendieron.
6 There was a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
Fue un hombre enviado de Dios, el cual se llamaba Juan.
7 He came as a witness, to bear witness of the light, that through him all might believe.
Este vino por testimonio, para que diese testimonio de la Luz, para que por él todos creyesen.
8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness of the light.
El no era la Luz; mas fue enviado para que diese testimonio de la Luz.
9 The true light, which enlighteneth every man, was coming into the world.
Aquella Palabra era la Luz verdadera, que alumbra a todo hombre, que viene en este mundo.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not.
En el mundo estaba, y el mundo fue hecho por él, y el mundo no le conoció.
11 He came to his own, and his own received him not.
A lo suyo vino; y los suyos no le recibieron.
12 But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become children of God, —to those who believed in his name;
Mas a todos los que le recibieron, dióles poder de ser hechos hijos de Dios, esto es, a los que creen en su nombre:
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Los cuales no son engendrados de sangres, ni de voluntad de la carne, ni de voluntad de hombre, sino de Dios.
14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; and we beheld his glory, a glory as of an only begotten of a father.
Y el Verbo fue hecho carne, y habitó entre nosotros; y vimos su gloria, gloria como del unigénito del Padre, lleno de gracia y de verdad.
15 John beareth witness of him, and crieth, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that cometh after me hath gone before me; for he was before me.
Juan dio testimonio de él, y clamó, diciendo: Este es del que yo decía: El que viene en pos de mí, es mayor que yo; porque es primero que yo.
16 For out of his fullness have we all received, and grace upon grace.
Y de su plenitud tomamos todos, y gracia por gracia.
17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Porque la ley por Moisés fue dada; mas la gracia y la verdad por Jesu Cristo vinieron.
18 No one hath ever seen God; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath made him known.
A Dios nadie le vio jamás: el unigénito hijo que está en el seno del Padre, él nos le declaró.
19 And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem, to ask him, Who art thou?
Y éste es el testimonio de Juan, cuando los Judíos enviaron de Jerusalem sacerdotes y Levitas, que le preguntasen: ¿Tú, quién eres?
20 And he declared, and did not deny; and he declared, I am not the Christ.
Y confesó, y no negó; mas confesó: Yo no soy el Cristo.
21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he said, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.
Y le preguntaron: ¿Qué pues? ¿Eres tú Elías? Dijo: No soy. ¿Eres tú el profeta? Y respondió: No.
22 They said therefore to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us; what sayest thou of thyself?
Dijéronle pues: ¿Quién eres? para que demos respuesta a los que nos enviaron. ¿Qué dices de ti mismo?
23 He said, I am “a voice of one crying aloud in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord,” as said Isaiah the prophet.
Dijo: Yo soy la voz del que clama en el desierto: Enderezád el camino del Señor, como dijo Isaías profeta.
24 And they were sent from the Pharisees;
Y los que habían sido enviados eran de los Fariseos.
25 and they asked him and said to him, Why then dost thou baptize, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?
Y preguntáronle, y le dijeron: ¿Por qué pues bautizas, si tú no eres el Cristo, ni Elías, ni el profeta?
26 John answered them, saying, I baptize in water. There standeth one among you whom ye know not,
Y Juan les respondió, diciendo: Yo bautizo con agua; mas en medio de vosotros está uno, a quien vosotros no conocéis:
27 he who cometh after me, the latchet of whose sandal I am not worthy to loose.
Este es el que ha de venir en pos de mí, el cual es mayor que yo, del cual yo no soy digno de desatar la correa del zapato.
28 These things took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
Estas cosas fueron hechas en Betabara de la otra parte del Jordán, donde Juan bautizaba.
29 The next day he seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world!
El siguiente día ve Juan a Jesús que venía a él, y dice: He aquí el Cordero de Dios, que quita el pecado del mundo.
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man, who hath gone before me; for he was before me.
Este es del que dije: Tras mí viene un varón, el cual es mayor que yo; porque era primero que yo.
31 And I knew him not; but that he might be made manifest to Israel, therefore I came baptizing in water.
Y yo no le conocía; mas para que fuese manifestado a Israel, por eso vine yo bautizando con agua.
32 And John bore witness, saying, I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove from heaven, and it abode upon him.
Y Juan dio testimonio, diciendo: Ví al Espíritu que descendía del cielo como paloma, y reposó sobre él.
33 And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptize in water, the same said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, he it is that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.
Y yo no le conocía; mas el que me envió a bautizar con agua, aquel me dijo: Sobre aquel que vieres descender el Espíritu, y que reposa sobre él, éste es el que bautiza con el Espíritu Santo.
34 And I have seen and have borne witness, that this is the Son of God.
Y yo ví, y he dado testimonio, que éste es el Hijo de Dios.
35 On the morrow John was again standing, and two of his disciples;
El siguiente día otra vez estaba Juan, y dos de sus discípulos.
36 and looking upon Jesus as he was walking, he saith, Behold, the Lamb of God!
Y mirando a Jesús que andaba por allí, dijo: He aquí el Cordero de Dios.
37 The two disciples heard him speaking, and they followed Jesus.
Y oyéronle los dos discípulos hablar, y siguieron a Jesús.
38 Jesus turning and seeing them following, saith to them, What seek ye? And they said to him, Rabbi, (that is to say, when interpreted, Teacher, ) where dost thou dwell?
Y volviéndose Jesús, y viéndoles seguirle, díceles: ¿Qué buscáis? Y ellos le dijeron: Rabbi, (que interpretado, quiere decir, Maestro, ) ¿dónde moras?
39 He saith to them, Come, and ye shall see. They came therefore and saw where he dwelt; and they abode with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.
Díceles: Veníd, y ved. Vinieron, y vieron donde moraba; y quedáronse con él aquel día; porque era como la hora décima.
40 One of the two who heard what John said, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
Era Andrés, el hermano de Simón Pedro, uno de los dos que habían oído hablar a Juan, y le habían seguido.
41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah; (which is, when interpreted, the Christ.)
Este halló primero a su hermano Simón, y le dijo: Hemos hallado al Mesías, que interpretado es, el Cristo.
42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looking upon him said, Thou art Simon, the son of John; thou shalt be called Cephas; (which signifieth Peter, that is, Rock.)
Y le trajo a Jesús. Y mirándole Jesús, dijo: Tú eres Simón, hijo de Jonás: tú serás llamado Céfas, que quiere decir, Piedra.
43 On the morrow he determined to go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip. And Jesus saith to him, Follow me.
El día siguiente quiso Jesús ir a Galilea, y halla a Felipe; y le dice: Sígueme.
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
Y era Felipe de Betsaida, la ciudad de Andrés y de Pedro.
45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith to him, We have found him of whom Moses in the Law, and the Prophets wrote, Jesus, the son of Joseph, who is of Nazareth.
Felipe halló a Natanael, y le dice: Hemos hallado a aquel de quien escribió Moisés en la ley, y los profetas: Jesús de Nazaret, el hijo de José.
46 And Nathanael said to him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see.
Y le dijo Natanael: ¿De Nazaret puede haber algo de bueno? Dícele Felipe: Ven, y ve.
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile.
Jesús vio venir a sí a Natanael, y dijo de él: He aquí un verdaderamente Israelita, en el cual no hay engaño.
48 Nathanael saith to him, Whence dost thou know me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.
Dícele Natanael: ¿De dónde me conoces? Respondióle Jesús, y le dijo: Antes que Felipe te llamara, cuando estabas debajo de la higuera, te ví.
49 Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the king of Israel.
Respondió Natanael, y le dijo: Rabbi, tú eres el Hijo de Dios; tú eres el Rey de Israel.
50 Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, dost thou believe? Thou shalt see greater things than these.
Respondió Jesús, y le dijo: ¿Porque te dije: Víte debajo de la higuera, crees? cosas mayores que estas verás.
51 And he saith to him, Truly, truly do I say to you, Ye will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
Y le dice: De cierto, de cierto os digo: De aquí adelante veréis el cielo abierto, y los ángeles de Dios que suben y descienden sobre el Hijo del hombre.
