John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
੧ਆਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੀ, ਸ਼ਬਦ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਸੀ।
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
੨ਉਹ ਆਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ।
3 All things were made through him; and without him was nothing made that hath been made.
੩ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਰਚਿਆ ਗਿਆ; ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਰਚਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
4 In him is life; and the life was the light of men.
੪ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਜੀਵਨ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਲਈ ਚਾਨਣ ਸੀ।
5 And the light hath been shining in the darkness; and the darkness received it not.
੫ਉਹ ਚਾਨਣ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਮਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਨੇਰੇ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
6 There was a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
੬ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
7 He came as a witness, to bear witness of the light, that through him all might believe.
੭ਯੂਹੰਨਾ, ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਨਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦੇਣ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਚਾਨਣ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ।
8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness of the light.
੮ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਆਪ ਉਹ ਚਾਨਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਨਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ।
9 The true light, which enlighteneth every man, was coming into the world.
੯ਅਸਲ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਅਸਲ ਚਾਨਣ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not.
੧੦ਸ਼ਬਦ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਗਤ ਰਚਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਜਗਤ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਹਿਚਾਣਿਆ।
11 He came to his own, and his own received him not.
੧੧ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
12 But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become children of God, —to those who believed in his name;
੧੨ਪਰ ਜਿੰਨਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਸੰਤਾਨ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਹੱਕ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
੧੩ਨਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਲਹੂ ਤੋਂ, ਨਾ ਹੀ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਇੱਛਾ ਨਾਲ, ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; and we beheld his glory, a glory as of an only begotten of a father.
੧੪ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇਹਧਾਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਹਾ, ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਦੇਖੀ ਉਹ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਜੋ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਇੱਕਲੌਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਚਿਆਈ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਸੀ।
15 John beareth witness of him, and crieth, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that cometh after me hath gone before me; for he was before me.
੧੫ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਮੈਂ ਦੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਵੇਗਾ, ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸੀ।”
16 For out of his fullness have we all received, and grace upon grace.
੧੬ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਰਪੂਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਾਈ ।
17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
੧੭ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਮੂਸਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਚਿਆਈ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਸੀਹ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਈ।
18 No one hath ever seen God; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath made him known.
੧੮ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ, ਉਹ ਇੱਕਲੌਤਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਜੋ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੌਣ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੈ।
19 And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem, to ask him, Who art thou?
੧੯ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਪੁੱਛਣ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈਂ।”
20 And he declared, and did not deny; and he declared, I am not the Christ.
੨੦ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਇੰਨਕਾਰ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਫ਼-ਸਾਫ਼ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਮਸੀਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ।”
21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he said, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.
੨੧ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਫਿਰ ਤੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈਂ? ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਹੈਂ?” ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਨਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ।” ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਨਬੀ ਹੈ?” ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਨਹੀਂ, ।”
22 They said therefore to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us; what sayest thou of thyself?
੨੨ਤਾਂ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਫਿਰ ਤੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈਂ? ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਵਾਬ ਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਸਕੀਏ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ?”
23 He said, I am “a voice of one crying aloud in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord,” as said Isaiah the prophet.
੨੩ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਬੀ ਯਸਾਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਖੇ: “ਮੈਂ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਕਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਹਾਂ: ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲਈ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਰਾਹ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰੋ।”
24 And they were sent from the Pharisees;
੨੪ਇਹ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਭੇਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
25 and they asked him and said to him, Why then dost thou baptize, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?
੨੫ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮਸੀਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।” ਤੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ “ਤੂੰ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਨਬੀ। ਫਿਰ ਤੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ?”
26 John answered them, saying, I baptize in water. There standeth one among you whom ye know not,
੨੬ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਛਾਣਦੇ।
27 he who cometh after me, the latchet of whose sandal I am not worthy to loose.
੨੭ਉਹ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੁੱਤੀ ਦੇ ਤਸਮੇ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਣ ਦੇ ਵੀ ਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ।”
28 These things took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
੨੮ਇਹ ਸਭ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬੈਤਅਨੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਰਦਨ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਪਾਰ ਹੋਈਆਂ। ਉੱਥੇ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
29 The next day he seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world!
੨੯ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਲ ਆਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ। ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਵੇਖੋ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਲੇਲਾ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।”
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man, who hath gone before me; for he was before me.
੩੦ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ “ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸੀ।
31 And I knew him not; but that he might be made manifest to Israel, therefore I came baptizing in water.
੩੧ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣ ਸਕੇ।”
32 And John bore witness, saying, I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove from heaven, and it abode upon him.
੩੨ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਵਰਗ ਤੋਂ ਘੁੱਗੀ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤਰਦਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਠਹਿਰਿਆ ਵੇਖਿਆ।
33 And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptize in water, the same said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, he it is that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.
੩੩“ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮਸੀਹ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦੇਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਵਰਗ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਤਰਦਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਠਹਿਰਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖੇਂਗਾ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ
34 And I have seen and have borne witness, that this is the Son of God.
੩੪ਮੈਂ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ।”
35 On the morrow John was again standing, and two of his disciples;
੩੫ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ। ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਚੇਲੇ ਸਨ।
36 and looking upon Jesus as he was walking, he saith, Behold, the Lamb of God!
੩੬ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਵੇਖੋ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਲੇਲਾ।”
37 The two disciples heard him speaking, and they followed Jesus.
੩੭ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ, ਜੋ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਸੁਣਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ।
38 Jesus turning and seeing them following, saith to them, What seek ye? And they said to him, Rabbi, (that is to say, when interpreted, Teacher, ) where dost thou dwell?
੩੮ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਗਰ ਆਉਂਦਿਆ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ?” ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੇ ਰੱਬੀ, ‘ਰੱਬੀ’ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ ‘ਗੁਰੂ’ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਠਹਿਰੇ ਹੋ?”
39 He saith to them, Come, and ye shall see. They came therefore and saw where he dwelt; and they abode with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.
੩੯ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਆਓ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ।” ਸੋ ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਥਾਂ ਵੇਖੀ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਰਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਉਹ ਉੱਥੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ। ਇਹ ਚਾਰ ਕੁ ਵਜੇ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਸੀ।
40 One of the two who heard what John said, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
੪੦ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਬਾਰੇ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਹੋ ਤੁਰੇ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਦ੍ਰਿਯਾਸ ਸੀ। ਅੰਦ੍ਰਿਯਾਸ ਸ਼ਮਊਨ ਪਤਰਸ ਦਾ ਭਰਾ ਸੀ।
41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah; (which is, when interpreted, the Christ.)
੪੧ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਦ੍ਰਿਯਾਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਸ਼ਮਊਨ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਿਆ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਮਸੀਹ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।” “ਮਸੀਹ” ਮਤਲਬ “ਮਸੀਹਾ”
42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looking upon him said, Thou art Simon, the son of John; thou shalt be called Cephas; (which signifieth Peter, that is, Rock.)
੪੨ਅੰਦ੍ਰਿਯਾਸ ਸ਼ਮਊਨ ਨੂੰ ਯਿਸੂ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ। ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਮਊਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਤੂੰ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਮਊਨ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਕੇਫ਼ਾਸ ਅਖਵਾਵੇਗਾ “ਕੇਫ਼ਾਸ” ਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਹੈ “ਪਤਰਸ”।
43 On the morrow he determined to go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip. And Jesus saith to him, Follow me.
੪੩ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਚਾਹਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਗਲੀਲ ਜਾਵੇ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਿਲਿਪੁੱਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੇਰੇ ਮਗਰ ਚੱਲ।”
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
੪੪ਫ਼ਿਲਿਪੁੱਸ ਬੈਤਸੈਦੇ ਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉੱਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਅੰਦ੍ਰਿਯਾਸ ਤੇ ਪਤਰਸ ਸਨ।
45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith to him, We have found him of whom Moses in the Law, and the Prophets wrote, Jesus, the son of Joseph, who is of Nazareth.
੪੫ਫ਼ਿਲਿਪੁੱਸ ਨੇ ਨਥਾਨਿਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਨਬੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਯਿਸੂ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨਾਸਰਤ ਦਾ ਹੈ।”
46 And Nathanael said to him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see.
੪੬ਪਰ ਨਥਾਨਿਏਲ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਿਲਿਪੁੱਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਨਾਸਰਤ! ਭਲਾ ਨਾਸਰਤ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਉੱਤਮ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨਿੱਕਲ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ?” ਫ਼ਿਲਿਪੁੱਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਆ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖ”
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile.
੪੭ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਨਥਾਨਿਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਲ ਆਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਸੱਚਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਛੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।”
48 Nathanael saith to him, Whence dost thou know me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.
੪੮ਨਥਾਨਿਏਲ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ?” ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਹੰਜ਼ੀਰ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਥੱਲੇ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਿਲਿਪੁੱਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ।”
49 Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the king of Israel.
੪੯ਫ਼ਿਰ ਨਥਾਨਿਏਲ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੋ।”
50 Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, dost thou believe? Thou shalt see greater things than these.
੫੦ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਨਥਾਨਿਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੰਜ਼ੀਰ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਥੱਲੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੇਖੇਂਗਾ!”
51 And he saith to him, Truly, truly do I say to you, Ye will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
੫੧ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ-ਸੱਚ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਵਰਗ ਨੂੰ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਵੇਖੋਂਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਤਰਦੇ ਵੇਖੋਂਗੇ।”
