John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
൧ആദിയിൽ വചനം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; വചനം ദൈവത്തോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു; വചനം ദൈവം ആയിരുന്നു.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
൨അവൻ, ഈ വചനം, ആദിയിൽ ദൈവത്തോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു.
3 All things were made through him; and without him was nothing made that hath been made.
൩സകലവും അവൻ മുഖാന്തരം ഉളവായി; ഉളവായതൊന്നും അവനെ കൂടാതെ ഉളവായതല്ല.
4 In him is life; and the life was the light of men.
൪അവനിൽ ജീവൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ആ ജീവൻ മനുഷ്യരുടെ വെളിച്ചമായിരുന്നു.
5 And the light hath been shining in the darkness; and the darkness received it not.
൫വെളിച്ചം ഇരുളിൽ പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുളോ അതിനെ പിടിച്ചടക്കിയില്ല.
6 There was a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
൬ദൈവം അയച്ചിട്ട് ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ വന്നു; അവന്‍റെ പേരു യോഹന്നാൻ.
7 He came as a witness, to bear witness of the light, that through him all might believe.
൭താൻ മുഖാന്തരം എല്ലാവരും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന് വെളിച്ചത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് സാക്ഷ്യം പറവാൻ തന്നെ അവൻ വന്നു.
8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness of the light.
൮യോഹന്നാൻ വെളിച്ചം ആയിരുന്നില്ല; വെളിച്ചത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് സാക്ഷ്യം പറയേണ്ടുന്നവനായിട്ടത്രേ അവൻ വന്നത്.
9 The true light, which enlighteneth every man, was coming into the world.
൯എല്ലാവരെയും പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന സത്യവെളിച്ചം ലോകത്തിലേക്കു വന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not.
൧൦അവൻ ലോകത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ലോകം അവൻ മുഖാന്തരം ഉളവായി; ലോകമോ അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.
11 He came to his own, and his own received him not.
൧൧അവൻ തന്‍റെ സ്വന്തമായതിലേക്ക് വന്നു; സ്വന്തജനങ്ങളോ അവനെ സ്വീകരിച്ചില്ല.
12 But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become children of God, —to those who believed in his name;
൧൨അവനെ കൈക്കൊണ്ട് അവന്‍റെ നാമത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഏവർക്കും ദൈവമക്കൾ ആകുവാൻ അവൻ അധികാരം കൊടുത്തു.
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
൧൩അവർ രക്തത്തിൽ നിന്നല്ല, ജഡിക ഇഷ്ടത്താലല്ല, പുരുഷന്‍റെ ഇഷ്ടത്താലുമല്ല, ദൈവത്തിൽ നിന്നത്രേ ജനിച്ചത്.
14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; and we beheld his glory, a glory as of an only begotten of a father.
൧൪വചനം ജഡമായി തീർന്നു, കൃപയും സത്യവും നിറഞ്ഞവനായി നമ്മുടെ ഇടയിൽ പാർത്തു. ഞങ്ങൾ അവന്‍റെ തേജസ്സ് പിതാവിൽ നിന്നു വന്ന ഏകജാതനായവൻ്റെ തേജസ്സായി കണ്ടു.
15 John beareth witness of him, and crieth, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that cometh after me hath gone before me; for he was before me.
൧൫യോഹന്നാൻ അവനെക്കുറിച്ച് സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചു: എന്‍റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നവൻ എനിക്ക് മുമ്പനായി തീർന്നു; അവൻ എനിക്ക് മുമ്പെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞവൻ ഇവൻ തന്നെ എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.
16 For out of his fullness have we all received, and grace upon grace.
൧൬അവന്‍റെ നിറവിൽ നിന്നു നമുക്കു എല്ലാവർക്കും കൃപമേൽ കൃപ ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
൧൭ന്യായപ്രമാണം മോശെമുഖാന്തരം ലഭിച്ചു; കൃപയും സത്യവും യേശുക്രിസ്തു മുഖാന്തരം വന്നു.
18 No one hath ever seen God; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath made him known.
൧൮ദൈവത്തെ ആരും ഒരുനാളും കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല; പിതാവിന്‍റെ മടിയിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്ന, ഏകജാതനായ പുത്രൻ അവനെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
19 And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem, to ask him, Who art thou?
൧൯“നീ ആർ?“എന്നു യോഹന്നാനോടു ചോദിക്കേണ്ടതിന് യെഹൂദന്മാർ യെരൂശലേമിൽ നിന്നു പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും ലേവ്യരെയും അവന്‍റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചപ്പോൾ അവന്‍റെ സാക്ഷ്യം എന്തെന്നാൽ
20 And he declared, and did not deny; and he declared, I am not the Christ.
൨൦അവൻ മറുപടി പറയാൻ വിസമ്മതിക്കാതെ, ‘ഞാൻ ക്രിസ്തു അല്ല’ എന്നു വ്യക്തമായി ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞു.
21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he said, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.
൨൧അവർ അവനോട് ചോദിച്ചു, “എങ്കിൽ പിന്നെ ആരാണ് നീ? നീ ഏലിയാവോ?“എന്നു അവനോട് ചോദിച്ചതിന്: “അല്ല“എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. “നീ ആ പ്രവാചകനോ?“എന്നതിന്: “അല്ല“എന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
22 They said therefore to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us; what sayest thou of thyself?
൨൨അപ്പോൾ അവർ അവനോട്: “നീ ആരാകുന്നു? ഞങ്ങളെ അയച്ചവരോട് ഉത്തരം പറയേണ്ടതിന് നീ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ച് തന്നെ എന്ത് പറയുന്നു?“എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
23 He said, I am “a voice of one crying aloud in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord,” as said Isaiah the prophet.
൨൩അതിന് അവൻ: “യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ: കർത്താവിന്‍റെ വഴി നേരെ ആക്കുവിൻ എന്നു മരുഭൂമിയിൽ വിളിച്ചുപറയുന്നവന്‍റെ ശബ്ദം ആകുന്നു ഞാൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.“
24 And they were sent from the Pharisees;
൨൪അവിടെ പരീശന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽനിന്ന് അയച്ചവർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
25 and they asked him and said to him, Why then dost thou baptize, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?
൨൫അവർ അവനോട്: “നീ ക്രിസ്തുവല്ല, ഏലിയാവല്ല, ആ പ്രവാചകനും അല്ല എന്നു വരികിൽ നീ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് എന്ത്?“എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
26 John answered them, saying, I baptize in water. There standeth one among you whom ye know not,
൨൬അതിന് യോഹന്നാൻ: “ഞാൻ വെള്ളംകൊണ്ട് സ്നാനപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ തിരിച്ചറിയാത്ത ഒരുവൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ നില്ക്കുന്നുണ്ട്;
27 he who cometh after me, the latchet of whose sandal I am not worthy to loose.
൨൭എന്‍റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നവൻ തന്നെ; അവന്‍റെ ചെരിപ്പിന്‍റെ വാറ് അഴിക്കുവാൻ ഞാൻ യോഗ്യൻ അല്ല“എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
28 These things took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
൨൮ഇവ യോർദ്ദാനക്കരെ യോഹന്നാൻ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ബെഥാന്യയിൽ സംഭവിച്ചു.
29 The next day he seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world!
൨൯പിറ്റെന്നാൾ യേശു തന്‍റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നത് യോഹന്നാൻ കണ്ടിട്ട്: “ഇതാ, ലോകത്തിന്‍റെ പാപം ചുമന്നു നീക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ കുഞ്ഞാട്.
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man, who hath gone before me; for he was before me.
൩൦എന്‍റെ പിന്നാലെ ഒരു പുരുഷൻ വരുന്നു; അവൻ എനിക്ക് മുമ്പെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് എനിക്ക് മുമ്പനായി തീർന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞവൻ ഇവൻ തന്നെ.
31 And I knew him not; but that he might be made manifest to Israel, therefore I came baptizing in water.
൩൧ഞാനോ അവനെ തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞില്ല; എങ്കിലും അവൻ യിസ്രായേലിനു വെളിപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന് ഞാൻ വെള്ളംകൊണ്ട് സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുവാൻ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു“എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
32 And John bore witness, saying, I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove from heaven, and it abode upon him.
൩൨യോഹന്നാൻ പിന്നെയും സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞത്: “ആത്മാവ് ഒരു പ്രാവുപോലെ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഇറങ്ങി വരുന്നത് ഞാൻ കണ്ടു; അത് അവന്‍റെമേൽ വസിച്ചു.
33 And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptize in water, the same said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, he it is that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.
൩൩ഞാനോ അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; എങ്കിലും വെള്ളത്തിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുവാൻ എന്നെ അയച്ചവൻ എന്നോട്: ആരുടെമേൽ ആത്മാവ് ഇറങ്ങുന്നതും വസിക്കുന്നതും നീ കാണുമോ അവൻ തന്നെയാകുന്നു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നവൻ“എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
34 And I have seen and have borne witness, that this is the Son of God.
൩൪അങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ അത് കാണുകയും ഇവൻ തന്നെ ദൈവപുത്രൻ എന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം പറകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
35 On the morrow John was again standing, and two of his disciples;
൩൫പിറ്റെന്നാൾ യോഹന്നാൻ പിന്നെയും തന്‍റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ രണ്ടുപേരുമായി അവിടെ നില്ക്കുമ്പോൾ
36 and looking upon Jesus as he was walking, he saith, Behold, the Lamb of God!
൩൬യേശു നടന്നുപോകുന്നത് കണ്ടിട്ട്; “ഇതാ, ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ കുഞ്ഞാട്“എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
37 The two disciples heard him speaking, and they followed Jesus.
൩൭അവൻ പറഞ്ഞത് ആ രണ്ടു ശിഷ്യന്മാർ കേട്ടു യേശുവിനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.
38 Jesus turning and seeing them following, saith to them, What seek ye? And they said to him, Rabbi, (that is to say, when interpreted, Teacher, ) where dost thou dwell?
൩൮യേശു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവർ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നത് കണ്ടിട്ട് അവരോട്: നിങ്ങൾക്ക് എന്ത് വേണം? എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; അവർ: “റബ്ബീ, നീ എവിടെ താമസിക്കുന്നു?“എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
39 He saith to them, Come, and ye shall see. They came therefore and saw where he dwelt; and they abode with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.
൩൯അവൻ അവരോട്: വന്നുകാണ്മിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവൻ വസിക്കുന്ന ഇടം അവർ വന്നുകണ്ടു; അപ്പോൾ ഏകദേശം പത്താം മണിനേരം ആയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് അന്നു അവനോടുകൂടെ താമസിച്ചു.
40 One of the two who heard what John said, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
൪൦യോഹന്നാൻ പറഞ്ഞത് കേട്ടു യേശുവിനെ അനുഗമിച്ച രണ്ടുപേരിൽ ഒരുവൻ ശിമോൻ പത്രോസിന്‍റെ സഹോദരനായ അന്ത്രെയാസ് ആയിരുന്നു.
41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah; (which is, when interpreted, the Christ.)
൪൧അവൻ ആദ്യം തന്‍റെ സഹോദരനായ ശിമോനെ കണ്ടു അവനോട്: “ഞങ്ങൾ മശീഹായെ എന്നുവച്ചാൽ ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looking upon him said, Thou art Simon, the son of John; thou shalt be called Cephas; (which signifieth Peter, that is, Rock.)
൪൨അവൻ അവനെ യേശുവിന്‍റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; യേശു അവനെ നോക്കിയിട്ട്; നീ യോഹന്നാന്‍റെ പുത്രനായ ശിമോൻ ആകുന്നു; നീ കേഫാ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും, അതിന്‍റെ അർത്ഥം പത്രൊസ് എന്നാകുന്നു.
43 On the morrow he determined to go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip. And Jesus saith to him, Follow me.
൪൩പിറ്റെന്നാൾ യേശു ഗലീലയ്ക്കു പുറപ്പെടുവാൻ ഭാവിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനെ കണ്ടു: എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക എന്നു അവനോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
൪൪ഫിലിപ്പൊസോ അന്ത്രെയാസിന്‍റെയും പത്രൊസിൻ്റെയും പട്ടണമായ ബേത്ത്സയിദയിൽ നിന്നുള്ളവൻ ആയിരുന്നു.
45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith to him, We have found him of whom Moses in the Law, and the Prophets wrote, Jesus, the son of Joseph, who is of Nazareth.
൪൫ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് നഥനയേലിനെ കണ്ടു അവനോട്: “ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൽ മോശെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നവനെ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവൻ യോസേഫിന്‍റെ പുത്രനായ യേശു എന്ന നസറെത്തുകാരൻ തന്നെ“എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
46 And Nathanael said to him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see.
൪൬നഥനയേൽ അവനോട്: “നസറെത്തിൽനിന്ന് വല്ല നന്മയും വരുമോ?“എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് അവനോട്: “വന്നു കാൺക“എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile.
൪൭നഥനയേൽ തന്‍റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നത് കണ്ടിട്ട് അവനെക്കുറിച്ച് യേശു: ഇതാ, സാക്ഷാൽ യിസ്രായേല്യൻ; ഇവനിൽ കപടം ഇല്ല എന്നു അവനെക്കുറിച്ച് പറഞ്ഞു.
48 Nathanael saith to him, Whence dost thou know me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.
൪൮നഥനയേൽ അവനോട്: “നീ എന്നെ എങ്ങനെ അറിയും?“എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്: ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് നിന്നെ വിളിക്കുംമുമ്പെ നീ അത്തിയുടെ കീഴിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കണ്ടു എന്നു യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
49 Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the king of Israel.
൪൯നഥനയേൽ അവനോട്: “റബ്ബീ, നീ ദൈവപുത്രൻ ആകുന്നു, നീ യിസ്രായേലിന്‍റെ രാജാവ് ആകുന്നു“എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
50 Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, dost thou believe? Thou shalt see greater things than these.
൫൦യേശു അവനോട്: ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അത്തിയുടെ കീഴിൽ കണ്ടു എന്നു നിന്നോട് പറകകൊണ്ട് നീ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നുവോ? നീ ഇതിനെക്കാൾ വലിയത് കാണും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
51 And he saith to him, Truly, truly do I say to you, Ye will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
൫൧സത്യം സത്യമായി ഞാൻ നിന്നോട് പറയുന്നു: സ്വർഗ്ഗം തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നതും മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ്റെമേൽ ദൈവദൂതന്മാർ കയറുകയും ഇറങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതും നീ കാണും എന്നും അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
