John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
१आदि में वचन था, और वचन परमेश्वर के साथ था, और वचन परमेश्वर था।
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
२यही आदि में परमेश्वर के साथ था।
3 All things were made through him; and without him was nothing made that hath been made.
३सब कुछ उसी के द्वारा उत्पन्न हुआ और जो कुछ उत्पन्न हुआ है, उसमें से कोई भी वस्तु उसके बिना उत्पन्न न हुई।
4 In him is life; and the life was the light of men.
४उसमें जीवन था; और वह जीवन मनुष्यों की ज्योति था।
5 And the light hath been shining in the darkness; and the darkness received it not.
५और ज्योति अंधकार में चमकती है; और अंधकार ने उसे ग्रहण न किया।
6 There was a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
६एक मनुष्य परमेश्वर की ओर से भेजा हुआ, जिसका नाम यूहन्ना था।
7 He came as a witness, to bear witness of the light, that through him all might believe.
७यह गवाही देने आया, कि ज्योति की गवाही दे, ताकि सब उसके द्वारा विश्वास लाएँ।
8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness of the light.
८वह आप तो वह ज्योति न था, परन्तु उस ज्योति की गवाही देने के लिये आया था।
9 The true light, which enlighteneth every man, was coming into the world.
९सच्ची ज्योति जो हर एक मनुष्य को प्रकाशित करती है, जगत में आनेवाली थी।
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not.
१०वह जगत में था, और जगत उसके द्वारा उत्पन्न हुआ, और जगत ने उसे नहीं पहचाना।
11 He came to his own, and his own received him not.
११वह अपने घर में आया और उसके अपनों ने उसे ग्रहण नहीं किया।
12 But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become children of God, —to those who believed in his name;
१२परन्तु जितनों ने उसे ग्रहण किया, उसने उन्हें परमेश्वर के सन्तान होने का अधिकार दिया, अर्थात् उन्हें जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
१३वे न तो लहू से, न शरीर की इच्छा से, न मनुष्य की इच्छा से, परन्तु परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं।
14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; and we beheld his glory, a glory as of an only begotten of a father.
१४और वचन देहधारी हुआ; और अनुग्रह और सच्चाई से परिपूर्ण होकर हमारे बीच में डेरा किया, और हमने उसकी ऐसी महिमा देखी, जैसी पिता के एकलौते की महिमा।
15 John beareth witness of him, and crieth, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that cometh after me hath gone before me; for he was before me.
१५यूहन्ना ने उसके विषय में गवाही दी, और पुकारकर कहा, “यह वही है, जिसका मैंने वर्णन किया, कि जो मेरे बाद आ रहा है, वह मुझसे बढ़कर है, क्योंकि वह मुझसे पहले था।”
16 For out of his fullness have we all received, and grace upon grace.
१६क्योंकि उसकी परिपूर्णता से हम सब ने प्राप्त किया अर्थात् अनुग्रह पर अनुग्रह।
17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
१७इसलिए कि व्यवस्था तो मूसा के द्वारा दी गई, परन्तु अनुग्रह और सच्चाई यीशु मसीह के द्वारा पहुँची।
18 No one hath ever seen God; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath made him known.
१८परमेश्वर को किसी ने कभी नहीं देखा, एकलौता पुत्र जो पिता की गोद में हैं, उसी ने उसे प्रगट किया।
19 And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem, to ask him, Who art thou?
१९यूहन्ना की गवाही यह है, कि जब यहूदियों ने यरूशलेम से याजकों और लेवियों को उससे यह पूछने के लिये भेजा, “तू कौन है?”
20 And he declared, and did not deny; and he declared, I am not the Christ.
२०तो उसने यह मान लिया, और इन्कार नहीं किया, परन्तु मान लिया “मैं मसीह नहीं हूँ।”
21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he said, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.
२१तब उन्होंने उससे पूछा, “तो फिर कौन है? क्या तू एलिय्याह है?” उसने कहा, “मैं नहीं हूँ।” “तो क्या तू वह भविष्यद्वक्ता है?” उसने उत्तर दिया, “नहीं।”
22 They said therefore to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us; what sayest thou of thyself?
२२तब उन्होंने उससे पूछा, “फिर तू है कौन? ताकि हम अपने भेजनेवालों को उत्तर दें। तू अपने विषय में क्या कहता है?”
23 He said, I am “a voice of one crying aloud in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord,” as said Isaiah the prophet.
२३उसने कहा, “जैसा यशायाह भविष्यद्वक्ता ने कहा है, ‘मैं जंगल में एक पुकारनेवाले का शब्द हूँ कि तुम प्रभु का मार्ग सीधा करो।’”
24 And they were sent from the Pharisees;
२४ये फरीसियों की ओर से भेजे गए थे।
25 and they asked him and said to him, Why then dost thou baptize, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?
२५उन्होंने उससे यह प्रश्न पूछा, “यदि तू न मसीह है, और न एलिय्याह, और न वह भविष्यद्वक्ता है, तो फिर बपतिस्मा क्यों देता है?”
26 John answered them, saying, I baptize in water. There standeth one among you whom ye know not,
२६यूहन्ना ने उनको उत्तर दिया, “मैं तो जल से बपतिस्मा देता हूँ, परन्तु तुम्हारे बीच में एक व्यक्ति खड़ा है, जिसे तुम नहीं जानते।
27 he who cometh after me, the latchet of whose sandal I am not worthy to loose.
२७अर्थात् मेरे बाद आनेवाला है, जिसकी जूती का फीता मैं खोलने के योग्य नहीं।”
28 These things took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
२८ये बातें यरदन के पार बैतनिय्याह में हुईं, जहाँ यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देता था।
29 The next day he seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world!
२९दूसरे दिन उसने यीशु को अपनी ओर आते देखकर कहा, “देखो, यह परमेश्वर का मेम्ना है, जो जगत के पाप हरता है।
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man, who hath gone before me; for he was before me.
३०यह वही है, जिसके विषय में मैंने कहा था, कि एक पुरुष मेरे पीछे आता है, जो मुझसे श्रेष्ठ है, क्योंकि वह मुझसे पहले था।
31 And I knew him not; but that he might be made manifest to Israel, therefore I came baptizing in water.
३१और मैं तो उसे पहचानता न था, परन्तु इसलिए मैं जल से बपतिस्मा देता हुआ आया, कि वह इस्राएल पर प्रगट हो जाए।”
32 And John bore witness, saying, I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove from heaven, and it abode upon him.
३२और यूहन्ना ने यह गवाही दी, “मैंने आत्मा को कबूतर के रूप में आकाश से उतरते देखा है, और वह उस पर ठहर गया।
33 And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptize in water, the same said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, he it is that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.
३३और मैं तो उसे पहचानता नहीं था, परन्तु जिसने मुझे जल से बपतिस्मा देने को भेजा, उसी ने मुझसे कहा, ‘जिस पर तू आत्मा को उतरते और ठहरते देखे; वही पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा देनेवाला है।’
34 And I have seen and have borne witness, that this is the Son of God.
३४और मैंने देखा, और गवाही दी है कि यही परमेश्वर का पुत्र है।”
35 On the morrow John was again standing, and two of his disciples;
३५दूसरे दिन फिर यूहन्ना और उसके चेलों में से दो जन खड़े हुए थे।
36 and looking upon Jesus as he was walking, he saith, Behold, the Lamb of God!
३६और उसने यीशु पर जो जा रहा था, दृष्टि करके कहा, “देखो, यह परमेश्वर का मेम्ना है।”
37 The two disciples heard him speaking, and they followed Jesus.
३७तब वे दोनों चेले उसकी सुनकर यीशु के पीछे हो लिए।
38 Jesus turning and seeing them following, saith to them, What seek ye? And they said to him, Rabbi, (that is to say, when interpreted, Teacher, ) where dost thou dwell?
३८यीशु ने मुड़कर और उनको पीछे आते देखकर उनसे कहा, “तुम किसकी खोज में हो?” उन्होंने उससे कहा, “हे रब्बी, (अर्थात् हे गुरु), तू कहाँ रहता है?”
39 He saith to them, Come, and ye shall see. They came therefore and saw where he dwelt; and they abode with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.
३९उसने उनसे कहा, “चलो, तो देख लोगे।” तब उन्होंने आकर उसके रहने का स्थान देखा, और उस दिन उसी के साथ रहे; और यह दसवें घंटे के लगभग था।
40 One of the two who heard what John said, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
४०उन दोनों में से, जो यूहन्ना की बात सुनकर यीशु के पीछे हो लिए थे, एक शमौन पतरस का भाई अन्द्रियास था।
41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah; (which is, when interpreted, the Christ.)
४१उसने पहले अपने सगे भाई शमौन से मिलकर उससे कहा, “हमको ख्रिस्त अर्थात् मसीह मिल गया।”
42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looking upon him said, Thou art Simon, the son of John; thou shalt be called Cephas; (which signifieth Peter, that is, Rock.)
४२वह उसे यीशु के पास लाया: यीशु ने उस पर दृष्टि करके कहा, “तू यूहन्ना का पुत्र शमौन है, तूकैफाअर्थात् पतरस कहलाएगा।”
43 On the morrow he determined to go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip. And Jesus saith to him, Follow me.
४३दूसरे दिन यीशु ने गलील को जाना चाहा, और फिलिप्पुस से मिलकर कहा, “मेरे पीछे हो ले।”
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
४४फिलिप्पुस तो अन्द्रियास और पतरस के नगर बैतसैदा का निवासी था।
45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith to him, We have found him of whom Moses in the Law, and the Prophets wrote, Jesus, the son of Joseph, who is of Nazareth.
४५फिलिप्पुस ने नतनएल से मिलकर उससे कहा, “जिसका वर्णन मूसा ने व्यवस्था में और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं ने किया है, वह हमको मिल गया; वह यूसुफ का पुत्र, यीशु नासरी है।”
46 And Nathanael said to him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see.
४६नतनएल ने उससे कहा, “क्या कोई अच्छी वस्तु भी नासरत से निकल सकती है?” फिलिप्पुस ने उससे कहा, “चलकर देख ले।”
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile.
४७यीशु ने नतनएल को अपनी ओर आते देखकर उसके विषय में कहा, “देखो, यह सचमुच इस्राएली है: इसमें कपट नहीं।”
48 Nathanael saith to him, Whence dost thou know me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.
४८नतनएल ने उससे कहा, “तू मुझे कैसे जानता है?” यीशु ने उसको उत्तर दिया, “इससे पहले कि फिलिप्पुस ने तुझे बुलाया, जब तू अंजीर के पेड़ के तले था, तब मैंने तुझे देखा था।”
49 Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the king of Israel.
४९नतनएल ने उसको उत्तर दिया, “हे रब्बी, तू परमेश्वर का पुत्र हे; तू इस्राएल का महाराजा है।”
50 Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, dost thou believe? Thou shalt see greater things than these.
५०यीशु ने उसको उत्तर दिया, “मैंने जो तुझ से कहा, कि मैंने तुझे अंजीर के पेड़ के तले देखा, क्या तू इसलिए विश्वास करता है? तू इससे भी बड़े-बड़े काम देखेगा।”
51 And he saith to him, Truly, truly do I say to you, Ye will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
५१फिर उससे कहा, “मैं तुम से सच-सच कहता हूँ कि तुम स्वर्ग को खुला हुआ, और परमेश्वर के स्वर्गदूतों को ऊपर जाते और मनुष्य के पुत्र के ऊपर उतरते देखोगे।”
