John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
在世界之初，道即已存在。这是上帝之道，道即上帝。
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
在万物之初，这道便与上帝同在。
3 All things were made through him; and without him was nothing made that hath been made.
万物皆为他所造，没有上帝就没有世上的一切。
4 In him is life; and the life was the light of men.
他是生命之源，这生命就是人之光。
5 And the light hath been shining in the darkness; and the darkness received it not.
光照亮黑暗，黑暗不能将光熄灭。
6 There was a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
上帝派一位叫做约翰的人前来，
7 He came as a witness, to bear witness of the light, that through him all might believe.
证明和解释光，让众人通过他相信上帝。
8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness of the light.
约翰不是光，而是要来此为那光作见证。
9 The true light, which enlighteneth every man, was coming into the world.
这真正的光来到世界，普照世人。
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not.
他在这个世界上，世界乃通过他创造而成，但世界却并不知晓他是谁。
11 He came to his own, and his own received him not.
他来到自己的子民身边，但他们却不接受他。
12 But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become children of God, —to those who believed in his name;
但接受他就是相信他的人，他会赋予他们成为上帝儿女的权利。
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
他们并非以人间方式诞生的儿女，不是人类欲望的结果或父亲做出的决定，而是由上帝诞生。
14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; and we beheld his glory, a glory as of an only begotten of a father.
道变身人类，生活在人类中间，我们可以看到他的荣光，这是天父唯一之子的荣光，满溢恩典和真理。
15 John beareth witness of him, and crieth, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that cometh after me hath gone before me; for he was before me.
约翰为他作见证，向民众高声呼喊：“他就是我之前所说的那个人：‘在我之后到来的人，远比我重要得多，因为他早在我之前就已存在。’”
16 For out of his fullness have we all received, and grace upon grace.
他生性慷慨，我们接受他的慷慨，不断获得恩典之礼。
17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
律法借由摩西颁布，恩典和真理却是通过耶稣基督而存在。
18 No one hath ever seen God; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath made him known.
从未有人见过唯一的上帝，只有距离天父最近之人，才能向我们展示何为上帝。
19 And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem, to ask him, Who art thou?
犹太人从耶路撒冷派祭司和利未人来到约翰这里，问他：“你是谁？”以下便是约翰做出的公开呈明。
20 And he declared, and did not deny; and he declared, I am not the Christ.
约翰明确而坦诚地说：“我不是基督。”没有一丝犹豫。
21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he said, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.
他们问：“那么你是谁？是以利亚吗？” 他说：“不，我不是。” “是那位先知吗？” 他回答：“不是。”
22 They said therefore to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us; what sayest thou of thyself?
他们再问：“那么你是谁？我们需要回复派我们前来之人。你认为你自己是谁？”
23 He said, I am “a voice of one crying aloud in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord,” as said Isaiah the prophet.
他说：“我就是荒野中的呼喊之声：‘修直主的路！’”他引用了以赛亚先知所说的一句话。
24 And they were sent from the Pharisees;
这些由法利赛人派来的祭司和利未人
25 and they asked him and said to him, Why then dost thou baptize, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?
问约翰：“你既然不是基督、不是以利亚、也不是那位先知，那么你为什么施洗？”
26 John answered them, saying, I baptize in water. There standeth one among you whom ye know not,
约翰回答：“我只是用水施洗，但你们中却有一个人，你们并不认识。
27 he who cometh after me, the latchet of whose sandal I am not worthy to loose.
他在我之后到来，我即使给他解鞋带都不配。”
28 These things took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
约翰在约旦河施洗，这一切就发生在约旦河远处的伯大尼。
29 The next day he seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world!
第二天，约翰见耶稣向他走来，就说：“看，这是上帝的羔羊，他可以去除这世间的罪！
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man, who hath gone before me; for he was before me.
这就是我说的那个人‘有一个人，在我之后到来，远比我重要的多，因为他早在我之前就已存在。’
31 And I knew him not; but that he might be made manifest to Israel, therefore I came baptizing in water.
我本来不认识他。但为了让他可以显现给以色列人，我才来此用水施洗。”
32 And John bore witness, saying, I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove from heaven, and it abode upon him.
约翰又给出关于耶稣的证明：“我曾看见圣灵如鸽子般从天上降落，停留在他的身上。
33 And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptize in water, the same said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, he it is that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.
我本来不认识他，但派我前来用水施洗的那个人对我说：‘如果你看见圣灵降下并停留在谁身上，谁就能用圣灵进行施洗。’
34 And I have seen and have borne witness, that this is the Son of God.
我看到了所发生的一切，所以才能见证他就是上帝之子。”
35 On the morrow John was again standing, and two of his disciples;
第二天，约翰和他的两个门徒站在那里。
36 and looking upon Jesus as he was walking, he saith, Behold, the Lamb of God!
约翰看见耶稣经过，就说：“看，这就是上帝的羔羊！”
37 The two disciples heard him speaking, and they followed Jesus.
那两个门徒听见他这番话，就开始跟随耶稣。
38 Jesus turning and seeing them following, saith to them, What seek ye? And they said to him, Rabbi, (that is to say, when interpreted, Teacher, ) where dost thou dwell?
耶稣转过身来，看见他们跟在身后，就问：“你们在寻找什么？”他们说：“拉比（意为‘老师’），你住在哪里？”
39 He saith to them, Come, and ye shall see. They came therefore and saw where he dwelt; and they abode with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.
他说：“来看看吧。”于是他们就跟随他，看到他所住的地方。当时是下午四点，这一天剩下的时间，他们都和耶稣待在一起。
40 One of the two who heard what John said, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
在听从约翰跟随耶稣的那两个人中，有一个人是西门（即彼得）的弟弟安得烈。
41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah; (which is, when interpreted, the Christ.)
他先找到自己的哥哥西门，告诉他：“我们遇见弥赛亚了！”（“弥赛亚”意为“基督。”）
42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looking upon him said, Thou art Simon, the son of John; thou shalt be called Cephas; (which signifieth Peter, that is, Rock.)
然后他就带着西门去见耶稣。耶稣直接看着西门说：“你是约翰的儿子西门，但现在你叫做矶法。”（即“彼得。”）
43 On the morrow he determined to go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip. And Jesus saith to him, Follow me.
第二天，耶稣决定去加利利。路上遇见了腓力，就对他说：“跟随我吧！”
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
腓力是伯赛大人，是安得烈和彼得的同乡。
45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith to him, We have found him of whom Moses in the Law, and the Prophets wrote, Jesus, the son of Joseph, who is of Nazareth.
腓力找到拿但业，告诉他：“我们遇见了摩西在律法书上所写，众先知所记载的那个人，他就是约瑟的儿子，拿撒勒人耶稣。”
46 And Nathanael said to him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see.
拿但业说：“拿撒勒？那里能出什么好事？”腓力说：“来看看就知道了！”
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile.
耶稣看见拿但业向他走过来，这样评价他：“看，这是一位真正的以色列人！没有任何污点和过错。”
48 Nathanael saith to him, Whence dost thou know me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.
拿但业问他：“你怎么知道我呢？”耶稣回答：“在腓力招呼你之前，我看到你站在无花果树下。”
49 Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the king of Israel.
拿但业欢呼道：“拉比，你是上帝之子，你是以色列的王！”
50 Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, dost thou believe? Thou shalt see greater things than these.
耶稣说：“你相信我，就是因为我说‘我看见你在无花果树下’这句话吗？你看到的会更多！”
51 And he saith to him, Truly, truly do I say to you, Ye will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
然后耶稣说：“告诉你实话，你将看见天空开启，上帝的天使在人子处上上下下。”
