John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
১শুরুতে বাক্য ছিলেন এবং বাক্য ঈশ্বরের সঙ্গে ছিলেন এবং বাক্যই ঈশ্বর ছিলেন।
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
২এই এক বাক্য শুরুতে ঈশ্বরের সাথে ছিলেন।
3 All things were made through him; and without him was nothing made that hath been made.
৩সব কিছুই তাঁর মাধ্যমে সৃষ্টি হয়েছে, যা হয়েছে, তার কোনো কিছুই তাঁকে ছাড়া সৃষ্টি হয়নি।
4 In him is life; and the life was the light of men.
৪তাঁর মধ্যে জীবন ছিল এবং সেই জীবন মানবজাতির আলো ছিল।
5 And the light hath been shining in the darkness; and the darkness received it not.
৫সেই আলো অন্ধকারের মধ্যে দীপ্তি দিচ্ছে, আর অন্ধকার আলোকে জয় করতে পারল না।
6 There was a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
৬ঈশ্বর একজন মানুষকে পাঠালেন তাঁর নাম ছিল যোহন।
7 He came as a witness, to bear witness of the light, that through him all might believe.
৭তিনি স্বাক্ষী হিসাবে এসেছিলেন সেই আলোর জন্য সাক্ষ্য দিতে, যেন সবাই তাঁর সাক্ষ্য শুনে বিশ্বাস করে।
8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness of the light.
৮যোহন সেই আলো ছিলেন না, কিন্তু তিনি এসেছিলেন যেন সেই আলোর বিষয়ে তিনি সাক্ষ্য দিতে পারেন।
9 The true light, which enlighteneth every man, was coming into the world.
৯তিনিই প্রকৃত আলো যিনি পৃথিবীতে আসছিলেন এবং যিনি সব মানুষকে আলোকিত করবেন।
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not.
১০তিনি পৃথিবীর মধ্যে ছিলেন এবং পৃথিবী তাঁর দ্বারা সৃষ্টি হয়েছিল আর পৃথিবী তাঁকে চিনত না।
11 He came to his own, and his own received him not.
১১তিনি তাঁর নিজের জায়গায় এসেছিলেন আর তাঁর নিজের লোকেরাই তাঁকে গ্রহণ করল না।
12 But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become children of God, —to those who believed in his name;
১২কিন্তু যতজন মানুষ তাঁকে গ্রহণ করল, যারা তাঁর নামে বিশ্বাস করল, সেই সব মানুষকে তিনি ঈশ্বরের সন্তান হওয়ার অধিকার দিলেন,
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
১৩যাদের জন্ম রক্ত থেকে নয়, মাংসিক অভিলাস থেকেও নয়, মানুষের ইচ্ছা থেকেও নয়, কিন্তু ঈশ্বরের ইচ্ছা থেকেই হয়েছে।
14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; and we beheld his glory, a glory as of an only begotten of a father.
১৪এখন সেই বাক্য দেহে পরিণত হলেন এবং আমাদের সাথে বসবাস করলেন। আমরা তাঁর মহিমা দেখেছি, যা পিতার কাছ থেকে আসা একমাত্র পুত্রের যে মহিমা, সেই অনুগ্রহে ও সত্যে পূর্ণ মহিমা আমরা দেখেছি।
15 John beareth witness of him, and crieth, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that cometh after me hath gone before me; for he was before me.
১৫যোহন তাঁর বিষয়ে সাক্ষ্য দিয়ে চিত্কার করে বললেন, “ইনি সে জন যাঁর সম্বন্ধে আমি আগে বলেছিলাম, যিনি আমার পরে আসছেন, তিনি আমার থেকে অনেক মহান, কারণ তিনি আমার আগে ছিলেন।”
16 For out of his fullness have we all received, and grace upon grace.
১৬কারণ তাঁর পূর্ণতা থেকে আমরা সবাই অনুগ্রহের উপর অনুগ্রহ পেয়েছি।
17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
১৭কারণ ব্যবস্থা মোশির মাধ্যমে দেওয়া হয়েছিল আর অনুগ্রহ ও সত্য যীশু খ্রীষ্টর মাধ্যমে এসেছে।
18 No one hath ever seen God; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath made him known.
১৮ঈশ্বরকে কেউ কখনও দেখেনি। সেই এক ও একমাত্র ব্যক্তি, যিনি নিজে ঈশ্বর, যিনি পিতার সঙ্গে আছেন, তিনিই তাঁকে প্রকাশ করেছেন।
19 And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem, to ask him, Who art thou?
১৯এখন যোহনের সাক্ষ্য হল, যখন ইহূদি নেতারা কয়েক জন যাজক ও লেবীয়কে যিরূশালেম থেকে যোহনের কাছে এই কথা জিজ্ঞাসা করতে পাঠাল, আপনি কে?
20 And he declared, and did not deny; and he declared, I am not the Christ.
২০তিনি অস্বীকার না করে স্পষ্ট কথায় উত্তর দিলেন, “আমি সেই খ্রীষ্ট নই।”
21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he said, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.
২১আর তারা তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, “তবে আপনি কে? আপনি কি এলিয়?” তিনি বললেন, “আমি না।” তারা বলল, “আপনি কি ভাববাদী?” তিনি উত্তরে বললেন, “না”
22 They said therefore to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us; what sayest thou of thyself?
২২তখন তারা তাঁকে বলল, “আপনি কে বলুন, যাতে, যাঁরা আমাদের পাঠিয়েছেন, তাঁদেরকে আমরা উত্তর দিতে পারি। আপনি আপনার নিজের বিষয়ে কি বলেন?”
23 He said, I am “a voice of one crying aloud in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord,” as said Isaiah the prophet.
২৩তিনি বললেন, “মরূপ্রান্তে একজন চিত্কার করে ঘোষণা করছে, আমি হলাম তাঁর রব; যেমন যিশাইয় ভাববাদীর বইতে যেমন লেখা আছে, তোমরা প্রভুর রাজপথ সোজা কর,”।
24 And they were sent from the Pharisees;
২৪আর যাদেরকে যোহনের কাছে পাঠানো হয়েছিল তারা ছিল ফরীশী। তারা তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলো এবং বলল
25 and they asked him and said to him, Why then dost thou baptize, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?
২৫আপনি যদি সেই খ্রীষ্ট না হন, এলিয় না হন, সেই ভাববাদীও না হন, তবে বাপ্তিষ্ম দিচ্ছেন কেন?
26 John answered them, saying, I baptize in water. There standeth one among you whom ye know not,
২৬যোহন উত্তর দিয়ে তাদের বললেন, আমি জলে বাপ্তিষ্ম দিচ্ছি। কিন্তু তোমাদের মধ্যে এমন একজন আছেন, যাকে তোমরা চেনো না।
27 he who cometh after me, the latchet of whose sandal I am not worthy to loose.
২৭ইনি হলেন সেই যিনি আমার পরে আসছেন; আমি তাঁর জুতোর দড়ির বাঁধন খোলবার যোগ্যও নই।
28 These things took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
২৮যর্দ্দন নদীর অপর পারে বৈথনিয়া গ্রামে যেখানে যোহন বাপ্তিষ্ম দিচ্ছিলেন সেই জায়গায় এই সব ঘটনা ঘটেছিল।
29 The next day he seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world!
২৯পরের দিন যোহন যীশুকে নিজের কাছে আসছে দেখে বললেন, ঐ দেখ ঈশ্বরের মেষশাবক, যিনি পৃথিবীর সব পাপ নিয়ে যান।
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man, who hath gone before me; for he was before me.
৩০ইনিই সেই মানুষ, যাঁর সম্বন্ধে যে আমি আগে বলেছিলাম, আমার পরে এমন একজন মানুষ আসছেন, যিনি আমার থেকে মহান কারণ তিনি আমার আগে থেকেই ছিলেন।
31 And I knew him not; but that he might be made manifest to Israel, therefore I came baptizing in water.
৩১আর আমি তাঁকে চিনতাম না, কিন্তু তিনি যাতে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের কাছে প্রকাশিত হন, সেইজন্য আমি এসে জলে বাপ্তিষ্ম দিচ্ছি।
32 And John bore witness, saying, I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove from heaven, and it abode upon him.
৩২আর যোহন সাক্ষ্য দিয়ে বললেন, আমি পবিত্র আত্মাকে পায়রার মতো স্বর্গ থেকে নেমে আসতে দেখেছি এবং তাঁর উপরে থাকতে দেখেছি।
33 And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptize in water, the same said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, he it is that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.
৩৩আমি তাঁকে চিনতাম না, কিন্তু যিনি আমাকে জলে বাপ্তিষ্ম দিতে পাঠিয়েছেন তিনিই আমাকে বললেন, তুমি যাঁর উপরে পবিত্র আত্মাকে নেমে এসে থাকতে দেখবে, তিনিই সেই মানুষ যিনি পবিত্র আত্মায় বাপ্তিষ্ম দেন।
34 And I have seen and have borne witness, that this is the Son of God.
৩৪আর আমি দেখেছি ও সাক্ষ্য দিয়েছি যে, ইনিই হলেন ঈশ্বরের পুত্র।
35 On the morrow John was again standing, and two of his disciples;
৩৫পরের দিন আবার যেমন যোহন তাঁর দুই জন শিষ্যের সঙ্গে দাঁড়িয়ে ছিলেন;
36 and looking upon Jesus as he was walking, he saith, Behold, the Lamb of God!
৩৬তখন যীশু হেঁটে যাচ্ছেন এমন দিন দেখতে পেয়ে যোহন বললেন ঐ দেখো ঈশ্বরের মেষশাবক।
37 The two disciples heard him speaking, and they followed Jesus.
৩৭সেই দুই শিষ্য যোহনের কাছে এই কথা শুনে যীশুর পিছন পিছন চলতে লাগলেন।
38 Jesus turning and seeing them following, saith to them, What seek ye? And they said to him, Rabbi, (that is to say, when interpreted, Teacher, ) where dost thou dwell?
৩৮তখন যীশু পিছনের দিকে তাকিয়ে তাদেরকে তাঁর পিছন পিছন আসতে দেখে বললেন, তোমরা কি চাও? তাঁরা উত্তর দিয়ে বললেন, “রব্বি (অনুবাদ করলে এর মানে হল গুরু) আপনি কোথায় থাকেন?”
39 He saith to them, Come, and ye shall see. They came therefore and saw where he dwelt; and they abode with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.
৩৯যীশু তাঁদেরকে বললেন, “এসো এবং দেখো।” তিনি যে জায়গায় থাকতেন তখন তারা সেই জায়গায় গিয়ে দেখলেন এবং সেই দিন তাঁর সঙ্গে থাকলেন; তখন বেলা অনুমানে বিকাল চারটা।
40 One of the two who heard what John said, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
৪০যোহনের কথা শুনে যে দুই জন যীশুর সঙ্গে চলে গিয়েছিল তাঁদের মধ্যে একজন ছিল শিমোন পিতরের ভাই আন্দ্রিয়।
41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah; (which is, when interpreted, the Christ.)
৪১তিনি প্রথমে নিজের ভাই শিমোনকে খুঁজে পান এবং তাঁকে বলেন, “আমরা মশীহের দেখা পেয়েছি” (অনুবাদ করলে যার মানে হয় খ্রীষ্ট)
42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looking upon him said, Thou art Simon, the son of John; thou shalt be called Cephas; (which signifieth Peter, that is, Rock.)
৪২তিনি তাঁকে যীশুর কাছে আনলেন। যীশু তাঁর দিকে দেখলেন এবং বললেন, “তুমি যোহনের ছেলে শিমোন। তোমাকে কৈফা নামে ডাকা হবে” (অনুবাদ করলে যার মানে হয় পিতর)
43 On the morrow he determined to go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip. And Jesus saith to him, Follow me.
৪৩পরের দিন যখন যীশু গালীলে যাওয়ার জন্য ঠিক করলেন, তিনি ফিলিপের খোঁজ পেলেন এবং তাঁকে বললেন, আমার সঙ্গে এসো।
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
৪৪ফিলিপ ছিলেন বৈৎসৈদার লোক; আন্দ্রিয় ও পিতরও সেই একই শহরের লোক।
45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith to him, We have found him of whom Moses in the Law, and the Prophets wrote, Jesus, the son of Joseph, who is of Nazareth.
৪৫ফিলিপ নথনেলকে খুঁজে পেলেন এবং তাঁকে বললেন, মোশির ব্যবস্থা ও ভবিষ্যৎ বক্তারা যাঁর কথা লিখেছিলেন, আমরা তাঁকে পেয়েছি; তিনি যোষেফের ছেলে নাসরতীয় যীশু।
46 And Nathanael said to him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see.
৪৬নথনেল তাঁকে বললেন, নাসরৎ থেকে কি ভালো কিছু আসতে পারে? ফিলিপ তাঁকে বললেন, এসো এবং দেখ।
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile.
৪৭যীশু নথনেলকে নিজের কাছে আসতে দেখে তাঁর সমন্ধে বললেন, ঐ দেখ একজন প্রকৃত ইস্রায়েলীয়, যার মনে কোনো ছলনা নেই।
48 Nathanael saith to him, Whence dost thou know me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.
৪৮নথনেল তাঁকে বললেন, কেমন করে আপনি আমাকে চিনলেন? যীশু উত্তর দিয়ে তাঁকে বললেন, ফিলিপ তোমাকে ডাকবার আগে যখন তুমি সেই ডুমুরগাছের নিচে ছিলে তখন তোমাকে আমি দেখেছিলাম।
49 Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the king of Israel.
৪৯নথনেল তাঁকে উত্তর করে বললেন, রব্বি, আপনিই হলেন ঈশ্বরের পুত্র, আপনিই হলেন ইস্রায়েলের রাজা।
50 Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, dost thou believe? Thou shalt see greater things than these.
৫০যীশু উত্তর দিয়ে তাঁকে বললেন, কারণ আমি তোমাকে বললাম, সেই ডুমুরগাছের নিচে আমি তোমাকে দেখেছিলাম এই কথা বলার জন্যই তুমি কি বিশ্বাস করলে? এর সব কিছুর থেকেও মহৎ কিছু দেখতে পাবে।
51 And he saith to him, Truly, truly do I say to you, Ye will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
৫১যীশু বললেন, সত্য সত্য আমি তোমাদেরকে বলছি, তোমরা দেখবে স্বর্গ খুলে গেছে এবং ঈশ্বরের দূতেরা মনুষ্যপুত্রের উপর দিয়ে উঠছেন এবং নামছেন।
