John 9
1 And as he was passing along, he saw a man who had been blind from his birth.
Und als er weiterging, sah er einen Menschen, der von Geburt an blind war.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
Und seine Jünger frugen ihn, und sprachen: Rabbi, wer hat gesündigt, dieser oder seine Eltern, daß er blind geboren ist?
3 Jesus answered, Neither did this man sin, nor his parents; but that the works of God might be made manifest in him.
Jesus antwortete: Weder dieser hat gesündigt, noch seine Eltern, sondern damit die Werke Gottes offenbar würden an ihm.
4 We must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day; the night is coming, when no one can work.
Wir müssen wirken die Werke dess´, der uns gesandt hat, solange es Tag ist. Es kommt eine Nacht, da niemand wirken kann.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Solange ich in der Welt bin, bin ich der Welt Licht.
6 Having thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay with the spittle, and anointed his eyes with the clay,
Als er dies gesagt hatte, spuckte er auf die Erde, und machte einen Teig mit dem Speichel, und strich den Teig auf die Augen des Blinden,
7 and said to him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam; (which is, when translated, Sent.) He went away therefore, and washed and came seeing.
Und sagte ihm: Gehe hin, und wasche dich im Teich Siloam, was übersetzt heißt: Gesandt. Da ging er hin, und wusch sich, und kam sehend zurück.
8 The neighbors therefore, and they who before had seen him as a beggar, said, Is not this he that sits and begs?
Da sagten die Nachbarn und die zuvor gesehen hatten, daß er Bettler war: Ist das nicht, der dasaß und bettelte?
9 Some said, This is he. Others said, No, but he is like him. He said, I am he.
Etliche sagten: Er ist es; andere aber: Er ist ihm ähnlich; er selbst sagte: Ich bin es.
10 They said therefore to him How then were thine eyes opened?
Da sagten sie ihm: Wie sind deine Augen aufgetan worden?
11 He answered, The man who is called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes, and said to me, Go to Siloam, and wash. I went therefore and washed, and received sight.
Er antwortete, und sprach: Ein Mensch, genannt Jesus, machte einen Teig, und strich ihn auf meine Augen, und sagte mir: Gehe hin in den Teich Siloam, und wasche dich. Und als ich hinging, und mich wusch, wurde ich sehend.
12 And they said to him, Where is that man? He saith, I do not know.
Da sagten sie ihm: Wo ist derselbe? Er sagt: Ich weiß es nicht.
13 They bring to the Pharisees him who had once been blind.
Sie führen ihn, den vorher Blinden zu den Pharisäern,
14 And the day on which Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes was the sabbath.
Es war aber Sabbat, als Jesus den Teig gemacht, und seine Augen aufgetan hatte.
15 Again therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he received his sight. He said to them, He put clay on my eyes, and I washed them, and I see.
Da frugen ihn auch die Pharisäer wieder, wie er sehend geworden sei? Er aber sagte ihnen: Einen Teig tat er auf meine Augen, und ich wusch mich, und bin sehend.
16 Therefore some of the Pharisees said, This man is not from God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such signs. And there was a division among them.
Da sagten etliche von den Pharisäern: Dieser Mensch ist nicht von Gott, denn er hält den Sabbat nicht. Andere sagten: Wie kann ein sündiger Mensch solche Zeichen tun? Und es war ein Zwiespalt unter ihnen.
17 They say therefore to the blind man again, What dost thou say of him for having opened thine eyes? And he said, He is a prophet.
Sie sagen dem Blinden wiederum: Was sagst du von ihm, daß er deine Augen aufgetan hat? Er aber sprach: Er ist ein Prophet.
18 The Jews therefore did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
Da glaubten die Juden nicht von ihm, daß er blind gewesen, und sehend geworden, bis die die Eltern dessen, der sehend geworden war, riefen.
19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? How then doth he now see?
Und frugen sie, und sagten: Ist dieser euer Sohn, von welchem ihr saget, daß er blind geboren wurde? Wie ist er denn jetzt sehend?
20 His parents, answered and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;
Seine Eltern antworteten ihnen, und sprachen: Wir wissen, daß dieser unser Sohn ist, und daß er blind geboren wurde;
21 but by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who opened his eyes, we know not; ask him, he is of age; he will speak for himself.
Wie er jetzt sieht, wissen wir nicht; er ist alt genug, fraget ihn, er soll selbst für sich reden.
22 This his parents said, because they feared the Jews. For the Jews had already agreed, that if any one should acknowledge him as the Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
Das sagten aber seine Eltern, weil sie die Juden fürchteten. Denn die Juden waren schon übereingekommen, daß, wenn jemand ihn als den Messias bekennen würde, er von der Synagoge ausgeschlossen werde.
23 Therefore his parents said, He is of age; ask him.
Darum sagten seine Eltern: Er ist alt genug, fraget ihn.
24 They therefore called a second time the man that had been blind, and said to him, Give glory to God; we know that this man is a sinner.
Da riefen sie zum zweitenmal den Menschen, welcher blind war, und sprachen zu ihm: Gib Gott die Ehre! Wir wissen, daß dieser Mensch ein Sünder ist.
25 He therefore answered, Whether he is a sinner, I know not; one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
Da antwortete derselbe, und sprach: Ob er ein Sünder ist, weiß ich nicht; eins weiß ich, daß ich blind war, und jetzt sehe.
26 They said to him, What did he do to thee? How did he open thine eyes?
Sie aber sagten ihm wiederum: Was hat er dir getan? Wie hat er deine Augen aufgetan?
27 He answered them, I have already told you, and ye did not hear; why would ye hear it again? Are ye also inclined to become his disciples?
Er antwortete ihnen: Ich habe es euch schon gesagt, und ihr habt nicht gehört; warum wollt ihr es abermal hören? Wollt auch ihr seine Jünger werden?
28 They reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are disciples of Moses.
Sie schmähten ihn, und sprachen: Du bist ein Jünger desselben; wir aber sind Mosis Jünger.
29 We know that God hath spoken to Moses; but as for this man, we know not whence he is.
Wir wissen, daß Gott zu Mose geredet hat, von diesem aber wissen wir nicht, woher er ist.
30 The man answered and said to them, Why, herein is a marvelous thing, that ye know not whence he is, and yet he opened my eyes.
Der Mensch antwortete, und sagte ihnen: Darüber muß man sich denn doch verwundern, daß ihr nicht wisset, woher er ist, und er hat meine Augen aufgetan.
31 We know that God heareth not sinners; but if any one is a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Wir wissen aber, daß Gott die Sünder nicht hört, sondern wenn jemand gottesfürchtig ist, und seinen Willen tut, den hört er.
32 Since the world began, it was never heard that any one opened the eyes of a man born blind. (aiōn g165)
Von Ewigkeit her ist es nicht erhört, daß jemand die Augen eines Blindgeborenen aufgetan hat. (aiōn g165)
33 If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.
Wenn dieser nicht von Gott wäre, so könnte er nichts tun.
34 They answered and said to him, Thou wast wholly born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
Sie antworteten, und sagten ihm: Du bist ganz in Sünden geboren, und lehrst uns? Und stießen ihn hinaus.
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and he found him, and said, Dost thou believe in the Son of man?
Jesus hörte, daß sie ihn hinausgeworfen hatten, und als er ihn fand, sprach er zu ihm: Glaubst du an den Sohn Gottes?
36 He answered and said, And who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?
Jener antwortete, und sprach: Und wer ist er, Herr? damit ich an ihn glaube.
37 Jesus said to him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
Jesus aber sagte ihm: Du hast ihn ja gesehen, und der mit dir redet, derselbige ist es.
38 And he said, I believe, Lord; and he prostrated himself before him.
Er aber sprach: Ich glaube, Herr! und fiel vor ihm nieder.
39 And Jesus said, For judgment came I into this world; that they who see not might see, and that they who see might become blind.
Und Jesus sprach: Zum Gericht bin ich in die Welt gekommen, damit die Nichtsehenden sehen, und die Sehenden blind werden.
40 Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this, and said to him, Are we also blind?
Und es hörten das etliche Pharisäer, die bei ihm waren, und sprachen zu ihm: Sind denn auch wir blind?
41 Jesus said to them, If ye were blind, ye would not have sin; but now ye say, We see. Your sin remaineth.
Jesus sagte ihnen: Wenn ihr blind wäret, so hättet ihr keine Sünde; nun ihr aber sprechet: Wir sehen, so bleibt euere Sünde.
