< John 7 >

1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
Yei akyi no, Yesu tenaa Galilea a wampɛ sɛ ɔbɛsane akɔ Yudea, ɛfiri sɛ, na Yudafoɔ no rehwehwɛ no akum no.
2 Now the feast of the Jews, the feast of tabernacles, was at hand.
Ɛberɛ a Yudafoɔ Asese Afahyɛ no reyɛ aduru no,
3 His brothers therefore said to him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou art doing.
Yesu nuanom ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Ɛsɛ sɛ wofiri ha sane kɔ Yudea sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ na wʼakyidifoɔ bɛhunu nsɛnkyerɛnneɛ a woyɛeɛ no.
4 For no one doeth anything in secret, and yet himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world.
Sɛ obi pɛ sɛ ɔgye edin a, ɔmmfa ne nneyɛeɛ nsie. Ɛsɛ sɛ ɔma nnipa nyinaa hunu ne nneyɛeɛ.”
5 For even his brothers did not believe in him.
Na ne nuanom mpo nnye no nni.
6 Jesus saith to them, My time is not yet come; but your time is always ready.
Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Me berɛ nnuruiɛ; na mo deɛ, ɛberɛ biara yɛ ma mo.
7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that its works are evil.
Mo deɛ nnipa tan mo a ɛnyɛ yie, nanso me deɛ wɔtan me a ɛyɛ yie, ɛfiri sɛ, daa meka bɔne a wɔyɛ no kyerɛ wɔn.
8 Go ye up to the feast; I go not up to this feast; for my time is not yet fully come.
Mo deɛ, monni ɛkan nkɔ afahyɛ no, na me deɛ, mennya nkɔeɛ, ɛfiri sɛ, me berɛ nnuruiɛ.”
9 Having said these things, he remained in Galilee.
Ɔkaa saa asɛm yi kyerɛɛ wɔn akyi no, ɔtenaa Galilea.
10 But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not openly, but as it were in secret.
Yesu nuanom, kɔeɛ akyi no, ɔno nso kɔɔ afahyɛ no ase bi a wamma obiara anhunu no.
11 The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, Where is that man?
Yudafoɔ mpanin no hwehwɛɛ no afahyɛ no ase na wɔanhunu no no, wɔbisabisaa wɔn ho wɔn ho sɛ, “Onipa a yɛrehwehwɛ no no wɔ he?”
12 And there was much debating among the multitude concerning him. Some said, He is a good man; others said, Nay, but he deceiveth the multitude.
Nnipa no kaa ne ho nsɛm huhuhuhu ɛfiri sɛ, na wɔsuro Yudafoɔ mpanin no. Ebinom se, “Ɔyɛ onipa pa.” Na afoforɔ nso se, “Ɔyɛ ɔdaadaafoɔ.”
13 No one, however, spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews.
Yudafoɔ mpanin no ho hu enti, obiara antumi annyi nʼanim anka ne ho asɛm wɔ badwa mu.
14 But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
Afahyɛ no mfimfini no, Yesu kɔɔ asɔredan mu kɔkyerɛkyerɛeɛ.
15 The Jews therefore marveled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
Ɛberɛ a Yudafoɔ mpanin no tee Yesu nkyerɛkyerɛ no, ɛyɛɛ wɔn nwanwa na wɔbisaa sɛ, “Onipa yi nsuaa nwoma da, na ɛyɛɛ dɛn na ɔtumi kyerɛkyerɛ sɛɛ yi?”
16 Jesus therefore answered them, and said, My teaching is not mine, but his that sent me.
Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Deɛ merekyerɛ no mfiri mʼankasa, na mmom ɛfiri Onyankopɔn a ɔsomaa me no.
17 If any one is desirous to do his will, he will know concerning the teaching, whether it is from God, or whether I speak from myself.
Sɛ obi pɛ sɛ ɔyɛ Onyankopɔn apɛdeɛ a, ɔbɛhunu sɛ me nkyerɛkyerɛ no firi Onyankopɔn nkyɛn anaa ɛfiri mʼankasa.
18 He that speaketh from himself seeketh his own glory; but he that seeketh the glory of him that sent him, he is true, and in him is no unrighteousness.
Obiara a ɔde nʼadwene kasa no pɛ animuonyam ma ne ho, na obiara a ɔpɛ animuonyam ma deɛ ɔsomaa no no yɛ ɔnokwafoɔ a nnaadaa biara nni ne mu.
19 Hath not Moses given you the Law? and none of you keepeth the Law! Why do ye seek to kill me?
Mose amma mo mmara anaa? Nanso, mo mu biara nni saa mmara no so! Adɛn enti na mopɛ sɛ mokum me?”
20 The multitude answered, Thou hast a demon! Who seeketh to kill thee?
Nnipa no ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Gyama honhommɔne bi hyɛ wo so? Hwan na ɔrehwehwɛ wo akum wo?”
21 Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one good work, and ye are all wondering.
Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Anwanwadeɛ baako pɛ a mayɛ enti na mo ho adwiri mo sɛɛ yi.
22 Moses hath given you circumcision, (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers; ) and ye on the sabbath circumcise a man.
Mose maa mo twetiatwa (mpo ɛnyɛ sɛ Mose na ɔhyɛɛ ho mmara na ɛyɛ mo nananom) nanso, motwa twetia homeda.
23 If a man receive circumcision on the sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are ye angry at me, because I have restored soundness to the whole body of a man on the sabbath?
Sɛ motwa twetia homeda na moanto Mose mmara a, adɛn enti na sɛ masa obi yadeɛ homeda a, mo bo fu me?
24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
Mommmu atɛn kwa. Monhwɛ biribiara a mohunu no yie ansa na moabu ho atɛn.”
25 Then some of the men of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
Nnipa a na wɔwɔ Yerusalem no mu bi bisaa sɛ, “Ɛnyɛ saa onipa yi ne deɛ wɔpɛ sɛ wɔkum no no anaa?
26 and see! he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers discovered certainly that this man is the Christ?
Ɔno na ɔrekasa badwa mu a obiara nka hwee nkyerɛ no yi! Gyama afei deɛ mpanimfoɔ no agye no ato mu sɛ ɔne Agyenkwa no.
27 Still, as to this man, we know whence he is; but when the Christ cometh, no one knoweth whence he is.
Yɛnim sɛ Agyenkwa no nya ba a, obiara rentumi nkyerɛ faako a ɔfiri baeɛ, nanso saa onipa yi deɛ, yɛnim faako a ɔfiri.”
28 Jesus therefore cried aloud, teaching in the temple and saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am; and I have not come of myself, but there is in truth one who sent me, whom ye know not.
Yesu gu so rekyerɛkyerɛ wɔ asɔredan mu no, ɔteaa mu kaa sɛ, “Ɛwom sɛ monim me na monim faako nso a mefiri baeɛ, nanso, ɛnyɛ me ara me pɛ na mede baeɛ, na deɛ ɔsomaa me no yɛ ɔnokwafoɔ, nanso monnim no;
29 I know him, because I am from him, and he hath sent me.
na me deɛ, menim no ɛfiri sɛ, mefiri ne nkyɛn na mebaeɛ na ɔno na ɔsomaa me.”
30 Therefore they sought to take him; but no one laid hands on him, because his hour had not yet come.
Nʼano siiɛ no, wɔpɛɛ sɛ anka wɔkyere no nanso obiara antumi amfa ne nsa anka no, ɛfiri sɛ, na ne berɛ a ɛsɛ sɛ wɔkyere no no nnuruiɛ.
31 But of the multitude many believed in him, and said, When the Christ cometh, will he do more signs than these which this man doeth?
Nnipa no mu fa kɛseɛ no ara gyee no dii, na wɔbisaa sɛ, “Sɛ Agyenkwa no ba a, ɔbɛtumi ayɛ anwanwadeɛ bebree sene deɛ ɔbarima yi ayɛ no anaa?”
32 The Pharisees heard the multitude thus debating concerning him; and the chief priest and the Pharisees sent officers to seize him.
Farisifoɔ no tee huhuhuhu no a nnipa no yɛ faa Yesu ho no, wɔne asɔfoɔ mpanin no somaa asɔrefie awɛmfoɔ bi sɛ wɔnkɔkyere Yesu mmra.
33 Jesus therefore said, Yet a little while I am with you, and then I go to him that sent me.
Yesu ka kyerɛɛ nnipakuo no sɛ, “Nna kakra bi na aka me a me ne mo bɛtena na masane akɔ deɛ ɔsomaa me no nkyɛn.
34 Ye will seek me and not find me; and where I am, ye cannot come.
Mobɛhwehwɛ me, nanso morenhunu me, ɛfiri sɛ, faako a merekɔ no morentumi nkɔ hɔ.”
35 The Jews therefore said among themselves, Whither will this man go, that we shall not find him? Will he go to the dispersed among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
Ɛberɛ a Yudafoɔ mpanin no tee asɛm a Yesu kaeɛ no, wɔbisabisaa wɔn ho wɔn ho sɛ, “Ɛhefa na ɔse ɔrebɛkɔ a enti yɛrenhunu no yi? Anaasɛ ɔpɛ sɛ ɔkɔ Helafoɔ nkuro a Yudafoɔ tete mu no mu kɔkyerɛkyerɛ wɔn?
36 What meaneth this which he said, Ye will seek me, and not find me; and where I am, ye cannot come?
Sɛ ɔka sɛ, ‘Mobɛhwehwɛ me, nanso morenhunu me, ɛfiri sɛ, faako a merekɔ no morentumi nkɔ hɔ’ a, na ɔkyerɛ sɛn?”
37 On the last day, which is the great day, of the feast, Jesus stood and cried aloud, saying, If any one thirst, let him come to me, and drink.
Afahyɛ no da a ɛdi akyire a ɛyɛ da titire no, Yesu sɔre gyinaa hɔ kasaa denden sɛ, “Obiara a osukɔm de no no mmra me nkyɛn mmɛnom nsuo.
38 He that believeth in me, from within him, as the Scripture hath said, will flow rivers of living water.
Na Atwerɛsɛm no ka sɛ, ‘Obiara a ɔgye me di no, nsuo a ɛma nkwa bɛtene afiri ne mu.’”
39 But this he said of the Spirit, which those that believed in him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Yesu kaa saa asɛm yi faa Honhom Kronkron a wɔn a wɔgyee no diiɛ no nsa bɛka no ho. Saa ɛberɛ no, na ɔnnya mfaa Honhom Kronkron no mmaa wɔn, ɛfiri sɛ, na wɔnnya mmaa ne so nkɔɔ ɔsoro, nhyɛɛ no animuonyam.
40 Some of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, This is in truth the prophet. Others said, This is the Christ.
Nnipa no tee asɛm a Yesu kae no, ebinom kaa sɛ, “Ampa ara, onipa yi ne odiyifoɔ no!”
41 Others said, Doth the Christ then come from Galilee?
Afoforɔ nso kaa sɛ, “Ɔno ne Kristo no!” Ebinom nso bisaa sɛ, “Ɛbɛyɛ dɛn na Kristo no bɛfiri Galilea?
42 Hath not the Scripture said, that the Christ cometh from the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the town where David was?
Atwerɛsɛm no anka sɛ, saa Kristo no bɛfiri Dawid abusua mu, na wɔbɛwo no wɔ Betlehem kuro a Dawid tenaa mu no mu anaa?”
43 So there was a division among the multitude because of him.
Yesu enti, nnipa no mu kyekyɛeɛ.
44 And some of them wished to seize him; but no one laid hands on him.
Ebinom pɛɛ sɛ wɔkyere no, nanso obiara amfa ne nsa anka no.
45 The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, Why did ye not bring him?
Asomfoɔ no sane kɔeɛ no, asɔfoɔ mpanin ne Farisifoɔ no bisaa wɔn sɛ, “Adɛn enti na moamfa no amma?”
46 The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man.
Asomfoɔ no buaa sɛ, “Nsɛm a onipa no ka no, ɛyɛ nwanwa na yɛntee bi da.”
47 The Pharisees answered them, Have ye also been deceived?
Farisifoɔ no sane bisaa asomfoɔ no sɛ, “Mo nso wadaadaa mo anaa?
48 Hath any one of the rulers believed in him? or of the Pharisees?
Moahunu sɛ mpanimfoɔ anaa Farisifoɔ no bi agye no adi anaa?
49 but this multitude that know not the Law are accursed.
Dabi, ɛremma saa, na mmom ɛyɛ wɔn a wɔnnim mmara no na wɔadome wɔn no na wɔbɛgye no adi.”
50 Nicodemus saith to them, being one of them,
Saa ɛberɛ no, na Nikodemo a ɔyɛ Farisini a da bi ɔwiaa ne ho kɔɔ Yesu nkyɛn anadwo no nso wɔ hɔ bi.
51 Doth our law judge a man, unless it first hear from him, and know what he doeth?
Ɔno na ɔbisaa sɛ, “Enti yɛn mmara ma ho kwan ma yɛbu obi fɔ wɔ ɛberɛ a yɛntee nʼanom asɛm, nhunuu deɛ wayɛ anaa?”
52 They answered and said to him, Art thou too from Galilee? Search and see that no prophet ariseth from Galilee.
Wɔbuaa no sɛ, “Wo nso wofiri Galilea anaa? Hwehwɛ Atwerɛsɛm no mu yie na wobɛhunu sɛ odiyifoɔ biara rentumi mfiri Galilea da.”
53 (Joh 7:53 - 8:12: This passage is omitted as ungenuine by Tischendorf and most critical editors of the Greek Testament. It is found in some manuscripts, but not in the most ancient. It is, however, very generally regarded as a genuine relic of the teaching of Christ, though not forming a part of the fourth Gospel. I give it in the text of Tregelles, omitting the words which he incloses in brackets. Tregelles, however, does not suppose it to be genuine.) [[And they went each to his house;
Afei, obiara firii hɔ kɔeɛ a wɔantumi ansi gyinaeɛ biara.
