John 7
1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

2 Now the feast of the Jews, the feast of tabernacles, was at hand.

3 His brothers therefore said to him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou art doing.

4 For no one doeth anything in secret, and yet himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world.

5 For even his brothers did not believe in him.
Kardeşleri bile O'na iman etmiyorlardı.
6 Jesus saith to them, My time is not yet come; but your time is always ready.
İsa onlara, “Benim zamanım daha gelmedi” dedi, “Oysa sizin için zaman hep uygundur.
7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that its works are evil.
Dünya sizden nefret edemez, ama benden nefret ediyor. Çünkü yaptıklarının kötü olduğuna tanıklık ediyorum.
8 Go ye up to the feast; I go not up to this feast; for my time is not yet fully come.
Siz bu bayramı kutlamaya gidin. Ben şimdilik gitmeyeceğim. Çünkü benim zamanım daha dolmadı.”
9 Having said these things, he remained in Galilee.
İsa bu sözleri söyleyip Celile'de kaldı.
10 But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not openly, but as it were in secret.
Ne var ki, kardeşleri bayramı kutlamaya gidince, kendisi de gitti. Ancak açıktan açığa değil, gizlice gitti.
11 The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, Where is that man?
Yahudi yetkililer O'nu bayram sırasında arıyor, “O nerede?” diye soruyorlardı.
12 And there was much debating among the multitude concerning him. Some said, He is a good man; others said, Nay, but he deceiveth the multitude.
Kalabalık arasında O'nunla ilgili bir sürü laf fısıldanıyordu. Bazıları, “İyi adamdır”, bazıları da, “Hayır, tam tersine, halkı saptırıyor” diyorlardı.
13 No one, however, spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews.
Bununla birlikte yetkililerden korktukları için, hiç kimse O'ndan açıkça söz etmiyordu.
14 But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
Bayramın yarısı geçmişti. İsa tapınağa gidip öğretmeye başladı.
15 The Jews therefore marveled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
Yahudiler şaşırdılar. “Bu adam hiç öğrenim görmediği halde, nasıl bu kadar bilgili olabilir?” dediler.
16 Jesus therefore answered them, and said, My teaching is not mine, but his that sent me.
İsa onlara, “Benim öğretim benim değil, beni gönderenindir” diye karşılık verdi.
17 If any one is desirous to do his will, he will know concerning the teaching, whether it is from God, or whether I speak from myself.
“Eğer bir kimse Tanrı'nın isteğini yerine getirmek istiyorsa, bu öğretinin Tanrı'dan mı olduğunu, yoksa kendiliğimden mi konuştuğumu bilecektir.
18 He that speaketh from himself seeketh his own glory; but he that seeketh the glory of him that sent him, he is true, and in him is no unrighteousness.
Kendiliğinden konuşan kendini yüceltmek ister, ama kendisini göndereni yüceltmek isteyen doğrudur ve O'nda haksızlık yoktur.
19 Hath not Moses given you the Law? and none of you keepeth the Law! Why do ye seek to kill me?
Musa size Kutsal Yasa'yı vermedi mi? Yine de hiçbiriniz Yasa'yı yerine getirmiyor. Neden beni öldürmek istiyorsunuz?”
20 The multitude answered, Thou hast a demon! Who seeketh to kill thee?
Kalabalık, “Cin çarpmış seni!” dedi. “Seni öldürmek isteyen kim?”
21 Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one good work, and ye are all wondering.
İsa, “Ben bir mucize yaptım, hepiniz şaşkına döndünüz” diye yanıt verdi.
22 Moses hath given you circumcision, (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers; ) and ye on the sabbath circumcise a man.
“Musa size sünneti buyurduğu için –aslında bu, Musa'dan değil, atalarınızdan kalmadır– Şabat Günü birini sünnet edersiniz.
23 If a man receive circumcision on the sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are ye angry at me, because I have restored soundness to the whole body of a man on the sabbath?
Musa'nın Yasası bozulmasın diye Şabat Günü biri sünnet ediliyor da, Şabat Günü bir adamı tamamen iyileştirdim diye bana neden kızıyorsunuz?
24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
Dış görünüşe göre yargılamayın, yargınız adil olsun.”
25 Then some of the men of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
Yeruşalimliler'in bazıları, “Öldürmek istedikleri adam bu değil mi?” diyorlardı.
26 and see! he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers discovered certainly that this man is the Christ?
“Bakın, açıkça konuşuyor, O'na bir şey demiyorlar. Yoksa önderler O'nun Mesih olduğunu gerçekten kabul ettiler mi?
27 Still, as to this man, we know whence he is; but when the Christ cometh, no one knoweth whence he is.
Ama biz bu adamın nereden geldiğini biliyoruz. Oysa Mesih geldiği zaman O'nun nereden geldiğini kimse bilmeyecek.”
28 Jesus therefore cried aloud, teaching in the temple and saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am; and I have not come of myself, but there is in truth one who sent me, whom ye know not.
O sırada tapınakta öğreten İsa yüksek sesle şöyle dedi: “Hem beni tanıyorsunuz, hem de nereden olduğumu biliyorsunuz! Ben kendiliğimden gelmedim. Beni gönderen gerçektir. O'nu siz tanımıyorsunuz.
29 I know him, because I am from him, and he hath sent me.
Ben O'nu tanırım. Çünkü ben O'ndanım, beni O gönderdi.”
30 Therefore they sought to take him; but no one laid hands on him, because his hour had not yet come.
Bunun üzerine O'nu yakalamak istediler, ama kimse O'na el sürmedi. Çünkü O'nun saati henüz gelmemişti.
31 But of the multitude many believed in him, and said, When the Christ cometh, will he do more signs than these which this man doeth?
Halktan birçok kişi ise O'na iman etti. “Mesih gelince, bunun yaptıklarından daha mı çok mucize yapacak?” diyorlardı.
32 The Pharisees heard the multitude thus debating concerning him; and the chief priest and the Pharisees sent officers to seize him.
Ferisiler halkın İsa hakkında böyle fısıldaştığını duydular. Başkâhinler ve Ferisiler O'nu yakalamak için görevliler gönderdiler.
33 Jesus therefore said, Yet a little while I am with you, and then I go to him that sent me.
İsa, “Kısa bir süre daha sizinleyim” dedi, “Sonra beni gönderene gideceğim.
34 Ye will seek me and not find me; and where I am, ye cannot come.
Beni arayacaksınız ama bulamayacaksınız. Ve benim bulunduğum yere siz gelemezsiniz.”
35 The Jews therefore said among themselves, Whither will this man go, that we shall not find him? Will he go to the dispersed among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
Bunun üzerine Yahudiler birbirlerine, “Bu adam nereye gidecek de biz O'nu bulamayacağız?” dediler. “Yoksa Grekler arasında dağılmış olanlara gidip Grekler'e mi öğretecek?
36 What meaneth this which he said, Ye will seek me, and not find me; and where I am, ye cannot come?
‘Beni arayacaksınız ama bulamayacaksınız. Ve benim bulunduğum yere siz gelemezsiniz’ diyor. Ne demek istiyor?”
37 On the last day, which is the great day, of the feast, Jesus stood and cried aloud, saying, If any one thirst, let him come to me, and drink.
Bayramın son ve en önemli günü İsa ayağa kalktı, yüksek sesle şöyle dedi: “Bir kimse susamışsa bana gelsin, içsin.
38 He that believeth in me, from within him, as the Scripture hath said, will flow rivers of living water.
Kutsal Yazı'da dendiği gibi, bana iman edenin ‘içinden diri su ırmakları akacaktır.’”
39 But this he said of the Spirit, which those that believed in him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Bunu, kendisine iman edenlerin alacağı Ruh'la ilgili olarak söylüyordu. Ruh henüz verilmemişti. Çünkü İsa henüz yüceltilmemişti.
40 Some of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, This is in truth the prophet. Others said, This is the Christ.
Halktan bazıları bu sözleri işitince, “Gerçekten beklediğimiz peygamber budur” dediler.
41 Others said, Doth the Christ then come from Galilee?
Bazıları da, “Bu Mesih'tir” diyorlardı. Başkaları ise, “Olamaz! Mesih Celile'den mi gelecek?” dediler.
42 Hath not the Scripture said, that the Christ cometh from the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the town where David was?
“Kutsal Yazı'da, ‘Mesih, Davut'un soyundan, Davut'un yaşadığı Beytlehem Kenti'nden gelecek’ denmemiş midir?”
43 So there was a division among the multitude because of him.
Böylece İsa'dan dolayı halk arasında ayrılık doğdu.
44 And some of them wished to seize him; but no one laid hands on him.
Bazıları O'nu yakalamak istedilerse de, kimse O'na el sürmedi.
45 The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, Why did ye not bring him?
Görevliler geri dönünce, başkâhinlerle Ferisiler, “Niçin O'nu getirmediniz?” diye sordular.
46 The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man.
Görevliler, “Hiç kimse hiçbir zaman bu adamın konuştuğu gibi konuşmamıştır” karşılığını verdiler.
47 The Pharisees answered them, Have ye also been deceived?
Ferisiler, “Yoksa siz de mi aldandınız?” dediler.
48 Hath any one of the rulers believed in him? or of the Pharisees?
“Önderlerden ya da Ferisiler'den O'na iman eden oldu mu hiç?
49 but this multitude that know not the Law are accursed.
Kutsal Yasa'yı bilmeyen bu halk lanetlidir.”
50 Nicodemus saith to them, being one of them,
İçlerinden biri, daha önce İsa'ya gelen Nikodim, onlara şöyle dedi: “Yasamıza göre, bir adamı dinlemeden, ne yaptığını öğrenmeden onu yargılamak doğru mu?”
51 Doth our law judge a man, unless it first hear from him, and know what he doeth?
52 They answered and said to him, Art thou too from Galilee? Search and see that no prophet ariseth from Galilee.
Ona, “Yoksa sen de mi Celile'densin?” diye karşılık verdiler. “Araştır, bak, Celile'den peygamber çıkmaz.”
