John 7
1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
Y pasadas estas cosas, andaba Jesús en Galilea; que no quería andar en Judea, porque los Judíos procuraban de matarle.
2 Now the feast of the Jews, the feast of tabernacles, was at hand.
Y estaba cerca la fiesta de los Judíos, llamada, de las cabañas.
3 His brothers therefore said to him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou art doing.
Dijéronle pues sus hermanos: Pásate de aquí, y vete a Judea, para que también tus discípulos vean las obras que haces;
4 For no one doeth anything in secret, and yet himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world.
Porque ninguno que procura ser insigne, hace algo en oculto. Si estas cosas haces, manifiéstate al mundo.
5 For even his brothers did not believe in him.
Porque ni aun sus hermanos creían en él.
6 Jesus saith to them, My time is not yet come; but your time is always ready.
Díceles entonces Jesús: Mi tiempo aun no es venido; mas vuestro tiempo siempre es presto.
7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that its works are evil.
No puede el mundo aborreceros a vosotros; mas a mí me aborrece, porque yo doy testimonio de él, que sus obras son malas.
8 Go ye up to the feast; I go not up to this feast; for my time is not yet fully come.
Vosotros subíd a esta fiesta: yo no subo aun a esta fiesta; porque mi tiempo no es aun cumplido.
9 Having said these things, he remained in Galilee.
Y habiéndoles dicho esto, se quedó en Galilea.
10 But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not openly, but as it were in secret.
Mas como sus hermanos hubieron subido, entonces él también subió a la fiesta, no manifiestamente, mas como en secreto.
11 The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, Where is that man?
Entonces los Judíos le buscaban en la fiesta, y decían: ¿Dónde está aquel?
12 And there was much debating among the multitude concerning him. Some said, He is a good man; others said, Nay, but he deceiveth the multitude.
Y había grande murmullo acerca de él entre el pueblo; porque unos decían: Buen hombre es; y otros decían: No, antes engaña al pueblo.
13 No one, however, spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews.
Mas ninguno hablaba abiertamente de él, por miedo de los Judíos,
14 But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
Y al medio de la fiesta, subió Jesús al templo, y enseñaba.
15 The Jews therefore marveled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
Y maravillábanse los Judíos, diciendo: ¿Cómo sabe este hombre letras, no habiendo aprendido?
16 Jesus therefore answered them, and said, My teaching is not mine, but his that sent me.
Respondióles Jesús, y dijo: Mi doctrina no es mía, sino de el que me envió.
17 If any one is desirous to do his will, he will know concerning the teaching, whether it is from God, or whether I speak from myself.
El que quisiere hacer su voluntad, conocerá de la doctrina si es de Dios, o si yo hablo de mí mismo.
18 He that speaketh from himself seeketh his own glory; but he that seeketh the glory of him that sent him, he is true, and in him is no unrighteousness.
El que habla de sí mismo, gloria propia busca; mas el que busca la gloria del que le envió, éste es verdadero, y no hay en él injusticia.
19 Hath not Moses given you the Law? and none of you keepeth the Law! Why do ye seek to kill me?
¿No os dio Moisés la ley; y sin embargo ninguno de vosotros guarda la ley? ¿Por qué me procuráis matar?
20 The multitude answered, Thou hast a demon! Who seeketh to kill thee?
Respondió el pueblo, y dijo: Demonio tienes: ¿quién te procura matar?
21 Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one good work, and ye are all wondering.
Jesús respondió, y les dijo: Una obra hice, y vosotros todos os maravilláis.
22 Moses hath given you circumcision, (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers; ) and ye on the sabbath circumcise a man.
Cierto que Moisés os dio la circuncisión, (no porque sea de Moisés, sino de los padres, ) y en sábado circuncidáis al hombre.
23 If a man receive circumcision on the sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are ye angry at me, because I have restored soundness to the whole body of a man on the sabbath?
Si recibe el hombre la circuncisión en sábado, para que la ley de Moisés no sea quebrantada, ¿os enojáis conmigo porque en sábado hice sano todo un hombre?
24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
No juzguéis según lo que parece, mas juzgád justo juicio.
25 Then some of the men of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
Decían entonces unos de los de Jerusalem: ¿No es éste al que buscan para matarle?
26 and see! he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers discovered certainly that this man is the Christ?
Y, he aquí, habla públicamente, y no le dicen nada: ¿Han entendido ciertamente los príncipes, que éste es verdaderamente el Cristo?
27 Still, as to this man, we know whence he is; but when the Christ cometh, no one knoweth whence he is.
Mas éste, nosotros sabemos de donde es; empero cuando viniere el Cristo, nadie sabrá de donde sea.
28 Jesus therefore cried aloud, teaching in the temple and saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am; and I have not come of myself, but there is in truth one who sent me, whom ye know not.
Entonces clamaba Jesús en el templo enseñando, y diciendo: Y a mí me conocéis, y sabéis de donde soy; y no he venido de mí mismo; mas el que me envió es verdadero, al cual vosotros ignoráis.
29 I know him, because I am from him, and he hath sent me.
Empero yo le conozco; porque de él soy, y él me envió.
30 Therefore they sought to take him; but no one laid hands on him, because his hour had not yet come.
Entonces procuraban prenderle; mas ninguno metió sobre él la mano, porque aun no había venido su hora.
31 But of the multitude many believed in him, and said, When the Christ cometh, will he do more signs than these which this man doeth?
Y del pueblo, muchos creyeron en él, y decían: ¿El Cristo cuándo viniere, hará más milagros que los que éste ha hecho?
32 The Pharisees heard the multitude thus debating concerning him; and the chief priest and the Pharisees sent officers to seize him.
Los Fariseos oyeron al pueblo que murmuraba de él estas cosas; y los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los Fariseos enviaron esbirros que le prendiesen.
33 Jesus therefore said, Yet a little while I am with you, and then I go to him that sent me.
Y Jesús les dijo: Aun un poco de tiempo estoy con vosotros, y luego voy al que me envió.
34 Ye will seek me and not find me; and where I am, ye cannot come.
Me buscaréis, y no me hallaréis; y donde yo estoy, vosotros no podéis venir.
35 The Jews therefore said among themselves, Whither will this man go, that we shall not find him? Will he go to the dispersed among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
Entonces los Judíos dijeron entre sí: ¿Dónde se ha de ir éste que no le hallarémos? ¿Irá a los dispersos entre los Gentiles, y enseñará a los Gentiles?
36 What meaneth this which he said, Ye will seek me, and not find me; and where I am, ye cannot come?
¿Qué dicho es éste que dijo: Me buscaréis, y no me hallaréis; y donde yo estoy, vosotros no podéis venir?
37 On the last day, which is the great day, of the feast, Jesus stood and cried aloud, saying, If any one thirst, let him come to me, and drink.
En el postrer día, día grande de la fiesta, Jesús se ponía en pie, y clamaba, diciendo: Si alguno tiene sed, venga a mí, y beba.
38 He that believeth in me, from within him, as the Scripture hath said, will flow rivers of living water.
El que cree en mí, como dice la Escritura, de su vientre correrán ríos de agua viva.
39 But this he said of the Spirit, which those that believed in him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Y esto dijo del Espíritu, que habían de recibir los que creyesen en él; porque aun no había sido dado el Espíritu Santo, porque Jesús aun no había sido glorificado.
40 Some of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, This is in truth the prophet. Others said, This is the Christ.
Entonces muchos del pueblo oyendo este dicho, decían: Verdaderamente éste es el Profeta.
41 Others said, Doth the Christ then come from Galilee?
Otros decían: Este es el Cristo. Algunos empero decían: ¿De Galilea ha de venir el Cristo?
42 Hath not the Scripture said, that the Christ cometh from the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the town where David was?
¿No dice la Escritura: Que de la simiente de David, y de la aldea de Belén, de donde era David, vendrá el Cristo?
43 So there was a division among the multitude because of him.
Así que había disensión entre el pueblo a causa de él.
44 And some of them wished to seize him; but no one laid hands on him.
Y algunos de ellos le querían prender; mas ninguno metió sobre él las manos.
45 The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, Why did ye not bring him?
Y los esbirros vinieron a los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y a los Fariseos; y ellos les dijeron: ¿Por qué no le trajisteis?
46 The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man.
Los esbirros respondieron: Nunca así ha hablado hombre, como este hombre habla.
47 The Pharisees answered them, Have ye also been deceived?
Entonces los Fariseos les respondieron: ¿Sois también vosotros engañados?
48 Hath any one of the rulers believed in him? or of the Pharisees?
¿Ha creído en él alguno de los príncipes, o de los Fariseos?
49 but this multitude that know not the Law are accursed.
Mas esta gente que no sabe la ley, malditos son.
50 Nicodemus saith to them, being one of them,
Díceles Nicodemo, el que vino a Jesús de noche, el cual era uno de ellos:
51 Doth our law judge a man, unless it first hear from him, and know what he doeth?
¿Juzga nuestra ley a hombre alguno, si primero no oyere de él, y entendiere lo que ha hecho?
52 They answered and said to him, Art thou too from Galilee? Search and see that no prophet ariseth from Galilee.
Respondieron, y dijéronle: ¿Eres tú también Galileo? Escudriña, y ve, que de Galilea nunca se levantó profeta.
53 (Joh 7:53 - 8:12: This passage is omitted as ungenuine by Tischendorf and most critical editors of the Greek Testament. It is found in some manuscripts, but not in the most ancient. It is, however, very generally regarded as a genuine relic of the teaching of Christ, though not forming a part of the fourth Gospel.
