John 5
1 After these things there was the feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
İsa bundan sonra Yahudiler'in bir bayramı nedeniyle Yeruşalim'e gitti.
2 Now there is at Jerusalem, by the sheep-gate, a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethzatha, having five porches.
Yeruşalim'de Koyun Kapısı yanında, İbranice'de Beytesta denilen beş eyvanlı bir havuz vardır.
3 In these were lying a multitude of diseased persons, blind, lame, withered.
Bu eyvanların altında kör, kötürüm, felçli hastalardan bir kalabalık yatardı.
5 And a certain man was there, who had had his infirmity thirty-eight years.
Orada otuz sekiz yıldır hasta olan bir adam vardı.
6 Jesus saw this man lying there, and knowing that he had been for a long time diseased, saith to him, Dost thou wish to be made well?
İsa hasta yatan bu adamı görünce ve uzun zamandır bu durumda olduğunu anlayınca, “İyi olmak ister misin?” diye sordu.
7 The diseased man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool; but while I am coming, another goeth down before me.
Hasta şöyle yanıt verdi: “Efendim, su çalkandığı zaman beni havuza indirecek kimsem yok, tam gireceğim an benden önce başkası giriyor.”
8 Jesus saith to him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
İsa ona, “Kalk, şilteni topla ve yürü” dedi.
9 And immediately the man was made well, and took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the sabbath.
Adam o anda iyileşti. Şiltesini toplayıp yürümeye başladı. O gün Şabat Günü'ydü.
10 The Jews therefore said to him that was cured, It is the sabbath; and it is not lawful for thee to take up the bed.
Bu yüzden Yahudi yetkililer iyileşen adama, “Bugün Şabat Günü” dediler, “Şilteni toplaman yasaktır.”
11 He answered them, He that made me well, the same said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk. T
Ama adam onlara şöyle yanıt verdi: “Beni iyileştiren kişi bana, ‘Şilteni topla ve yürü’ dedi.”
12 hey asked him, Who is the man that said to thee, Take up, and walk?
“Sana, ‘Şilteni topla ve yürü’ diyen adam kim?” diye sordular.
13 But the diseased man knew not who it was; for Jesus had withdrawn himself, there being a crowd in the place.
İyileşen adam ise O'nun kim olduğunu bilmiyordu. Orası kalabalıktı, İsa da çekilip gitmişti.
14 Afterwards Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, Behold, thou art made well; sin no more, lest something worse befall thee.
İsa daha sonra adamı tapınakta buldu. “Bak, iyi oldun. Artık günah işleme de başına daha kötü bir şey gelmesin” dedi.
15 The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
Adam gidip Yahudi yetkililere kendisini iyileştirenin İsa olduğunu bildirdi.
16 And on this account the Jews persecuted Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath.
Şabat Günü böyle şeyler yaptığı için İsa'ya zulmetmeye başladılar.
17 But he answered them, My Father is working up to this time, and I work.
Ama İsa onlara şu karşılığı verdi: “Babam hâlâ çalışmaktadır, ben de çalışıyorum.”
18 On this account the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath, but also said that God was his own Father, making himself equal with God.
İşte bu nedenle Yahudi yetkililer O'nu öldürmek için daha çok gayret ettiler. Çünkü yalnız Şabat Günü düzenini bozmakla kalmamış, Tanrı'nın kendi Babası olduğunu söyleyerek kendisini Tanrı'ya eşit kılmıştı.
19 Then answered Jesus and said to them, Truly, truly do I say to you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing; for whatever He doeth, these things the Son also doeth in like manner;
İsa Yahudi yetkililere şöyle karşılık verdi: “Size doğrusunu söyleyeyim, Oğul, Baba'nın yaptıklarını görmedikçe kendiliğinden bir şey yapamaz. Baba ne yaparsa Oğul da aynı şeyi yapar.
20 for the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things which he himself doeth; and greater works than these will he show him, so that ye will wonder.
Çünkü Baba Oğul'u sever ve yaptıklarının hepsini O'na gösterir. Şaşasınız diye O'na bunlardan daha büyük işler de gösterecektir.
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and giveth them life, so the Son also giveth life to whom he will.
Baba nasıl ölüleri diriltip onlara yaşam veriyorsa, Oğul da dilediği kimselere yaşam verir.
22 For neither doth the Father judge any one, but hath committed all judgment to the Son;
Baba kimseyi yargılamaz, bütün yargılama işini Oğul'a vermiştir.
23 that all may honor the Son, as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son, honoreth not the Father, who sent him.
Öyle ki, herkes Baba'yı onurlandırdığı gibi Oğul'u onurlandırsın. Oğul'u onurlandırmayan, O'nu gönderen Baba'yı da onurlandırmaz.
24 Truly, truly do I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and cometh not into condemnation, but hath passed out of death into life. (aiōnios g166)
“Size doğrusunu söyleyeyim, sözümü işitip beni gönderene iman edenin sonsuz yaşamı vardır. Böyle biri yargılanmaz, ölümden yaşama geçmiştir. (aiōnios g166)
25 Truly, truly do I say to you, The hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear will live.
Size doğrusunu söyleyeyim, ölülerin Tanrı Oğlu'nun sesini işitecekleri ve işitenlerin yaşayacakları saat geliyor, geldi bile.
26 For as the Father hath life in himself, so did he give to the Son also to have life in himself.
Çünkü Baba, kendisinde yaşam olduğu gibi, Oğul'a da kendisinde yaşam olma özelliğini verdi.
27 And he gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.
O'na yargılama yetkisini de verdi. Çünkü O İnsanoğlu'dur.
28 Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice,
Buna şaşmayın. Mezarda olanların hepsinin O'nun sesini işitecekleri saat geliyor.
29 and will come forth, they that have done good, to a resurrection of life; they that have done evil, to a resurrection of condemnation.
Ve onlar mezarlarından çıkacaklar. İyilik yapmış olanlar yaşamak, kötülük yapmış olanlar yargılanmak üzere dirilecekler.”
30 I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.
“Ben kendiliğimden hiçbir şey yapamam. İşittiğim gibi yargılarım ve benim yargım adildir. Çünkü amacım kendi istediğimi değil, beni gönderenin istediğini yapmaktır.
31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
Eğer kendim için ben tanıklık edersem, tanıklığım geçerli olmaz.
32 There is another who beareth witness of me; and ye know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
Ama benim için tanıklık eden başka biri vardır. O'nun benim için ettiği tanıklığın geçerli olduğunu bilirim.
33 Ye have sent to John, and he hath borne witness to the truth.
Siz Yahya'ya adamlar gönderdiniz, o da gerçeğe tanıklık etti.
34 But the testimony which I receive is not from man; but these things I say, that ye may be saved.
İnsanın tanıklığını kabul ettiğim için değil, kurtulmanız için bunları söylüyorum.
35 He was the burning and shining lamp: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
Yahya, yanan ve ışık saçan bir çıraydı. Sizler onun ışığında bir süre için coşmak istediniz.
36 But the testimony which I have, is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to perform, the works themselves which I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
Ama benim, Yahya'nınkinden daha büyük bir tanıklığım var. Tamamlamam için Baba'nın bana verdiği işler, şu yaptığım işler, beni Baba'nın gönderdiğine tanıklık ediyor.
37 And the Father who sent me, he hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.
Beni gönderen Baba da benim için tanıklık etmiştir. Siz hiçbir zaman ne O'nun sesini işittiniz, ne de suretini gördünüz.
38 And ye have not his word abiding in you; for whom he sent, him ye believe not.
O'nun sözü sizde yaşamıyor. Çünkü O'nun gönderdiği kişiye iman etmiyorsunuz.
39 Ye search the Scriptures, because ye yourselves think that in them ye have everlasting life; and it is they which testify of me; (aiōnios g166)
Kutsal Yazılar'ı araştırıyorsunuz. Çünkü bunlar aracılığıyla sonsuz yaşama sahip olduğunuzu sanıyorsunuz. Bana tanıklık eden de bu yazılardır! (aiōnios g166)
40 and ye are not willing to come to me, that ye may have life.
Öyleyken siz, yaşama kavuşmak için bana gelmek istemiyorsunuz.
41 I receive not honor from men;
“İnsanlardan övgü kabul etmiyorum.
42 but I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
Ama ben sizi bilirim, içinizde Tanrı sevgisi yoktur.
43 I have come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not; if another come in his own name, him ye will receive.
Ben Babam'ın adına geldim, ama beni kabul etmiyorsunuz. Oysa başka birisi kendi adına gelirse, onu kabul edeceksiniz.
44 How can ye believe while ye receive honor from one another, and seek not the honor that is from him who alone is God?
Birbirinizden övgüler kabul ediyor, ama tek olan Tanrı'nın övgüsünü kazanmaya çalışmıyorsunuz. Bu durumda nasıl iman edebilirsiniz?
45 Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye have placed your hope.
Baba'nın önünde sizi suçlayacağımı sanmayın. Sizi suçlayan, umut bağladığınız Musa'dır.
46 For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me; for he wrote of me.
Musa'ya iman etmiş olsaydınız, bana da iman ederdiniz. Çünkü o benim hakkımda yazmıştır.
47 But if ye do not believe his writings, how will ye believe my words?
Ama onun yazılarına iman etmezseniz, benim sözlerime nasıl iman edeceksiniz?”
