John 5
1 After these things there was the feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
੧ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਇੱਕ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਲਈ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਗਿਆ।
2 Now there is at Jerusalem, by the sheep-gate, a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethzatha, having five porches.
੨ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਤਲਾਬ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਪੰਜ ਬਰਾਂਡੇ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਤਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਇਬਰਾਨੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੇਥਜ਼ਥਾ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਤਲਾਬ ਭੇਡ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੈ।
3 In these were lying a multitude of diseased persons, blind, lame, withered.
੩ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਲੋਕ ਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਬਰਾਂਡਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੇਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ। ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ, ਲੰਗੜੇ ਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਅਧਰੰਗੀ ਸਨ।
੪ਇੱਕ ਠਹਿਰਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਤ ਆ ਕੇ ਤਲਾਬ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੜਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ।
5 And a certain man was there, who had had his infirmity thirty-eight years.
੫ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਵੀ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਅਠੱਤੀ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਸੀ।
6 Jesus saw this man lying there, and knowing that he had been for a long time diseased, saith to him, Dost thou wish to be made well?
੬ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਲੇਟਿਆ ਵੇਖਿਆ। ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਪਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਲੰਮੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ?”
7 The diseased man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool; but while I am coming, another goeth down before me.
੭ਉਸ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ, ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਉਦੋਂ ਤਲਾਬ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਲਚਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਤਾਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਤਲਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।”
8 Jesus saith to him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
੮ਫਿਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉੱਠ, ਆਪਣਾ ਬਿਸਤਰਾ ਚੁੱਕ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਰ।”
9 And immediately the man was made well, and took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the sabbath.
੯ਉਹ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੰਜੀ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਚੱਲਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ, ਇਹ ਸਬਤ ਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਸੀ।
10 The Jews therefore said to him that was cured, It is the sabbath; and it is not lawful for thee to take up the bed.
੧੦ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਚੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅੱਜ ਸਬਤ ਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਬਿਸਤਰਾ ਚੁੱਕਣਾ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਹੈ।”
11 He answered them, He that made me well, the same said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk. T
੧੧ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,” ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਆਪਣਾ ਬਿਸਤਰਾ ਚੁੱਕ ਤੇ ਚਲ ਫਿਰ।”
12 hey asked him, Who is the man that said to thee, Take up, and walk?
੧੨ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਿਸਤਰਾ ਚੁੱਕ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਫਿਰ?”
13 But the diseased man knew not who it was; for Jesus had withdrawn himself, there being a crowd in the place.
੧੩ਪਰ ਜੋ ਆਦਮੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਪਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕੌਣ ਸੀ। ਉੱਥੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
14 Afterwards Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, Behold, thou art made well; sin no more, lest something worse befall thee.
੧੪ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੈਕਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਵੇਖ ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਪਾਪ ਨਾ ਕਰੀ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਭੈੜੀ ਗੱਲ ਵੀ ਵਾਪਰ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।”
15 The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
੧੫ਤਦ ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਵਾਪਸ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ। ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਯਿਸੂ ਹੈ।
16 And on this account the Jews persecuted Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath.
੧੬ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੇਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਿਸੂ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ।
17 But he answered them, My Father is working up to this time, and I work.
੧੭ਪਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।”
18 On this account the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath, but also said that God was his own Father, making himself equal with God.
੧੮ਇਹ ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ। ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਯਿਸੂ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਦਾ ਨੇਮ ਤੋੜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”
19 Then answered Jesus and said to them, Truly, truly do I say to you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing; for whatever He doeth, these things the Son also doeth in like manner;
੧੯ਪਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ-ਸੱਚ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। ਪੁੱਤਰ ਉਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਿਦਆਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਪਿਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਉਹੀ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਵੀ ਕਰਦਾ।
20 for the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things which he himself doeth; and greater works than these will he show him, so that ye will wonder.
੨੦ਪਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਕਰਦਾ। ਪਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਕੰਮ ਵੀ ਵਿਖਾਵੇਗਾ। ਫਿਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਭ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਉਂਗੇ।
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and giveth them life, so the Son also giveth life to whom he will.
੨੧ਪਿਤਾ ਮੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਵਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸੇ ਹੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਪੁੱਤਰ ਵੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
22 For neither doth the Father judge any one, but hath committed all judgment to the Son;
੨੨ਪਿਤਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
23 that all may honor the Son, as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son, honoreth not the Father, who sent him.
੨੩ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਆਦਰ ਕਰਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਆਦਮੀ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।
24 Truly, truly do I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and cometh not into condemnation, but hath passed out of death into life. (aiōnios g166)
੨੪ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ-ਸੱਚ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸਦੀਪਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਉਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਦੀਪਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ। (aiōnios g166)
25 Truly, truly do I say to you, The hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear will live.
੨੫ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹ ਸਮਾਂ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸਗੋਂ ਹੁਣੇ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਜੋ ਮਰ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਨਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਨਣਗੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ।
26 For as the Father hath life in himself, so did he give to the Son also to have life in himself.
੨੬ਪਿਤਾ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
27 And he gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.
੨੭ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ।
28 Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice,
੨੮ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਬਾਰੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੋ। ਉਹ ਸਮਾਂ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣਨਗੇ।
29 and will come forth, they that have done good, to a resurrection of life; they that have done evil, to a resurrection of condemnation.
੨੯ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਆ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਉਹ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ, ਉਭਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ, ਨਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਜਿਵਾਲੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।”
30 I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.
੩੦“ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਅਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੇਰਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਠੀਕ ਹੈ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਸਗੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।
31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
੩੧ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦੇਵਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
32 There is another who beareth witness of me; and ye know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
੩੨ਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ।
33 Ye have sent to John, and he hath borne witness to the truth.
੩੩ਤੁਸੀਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੱਚ ਬਾਰੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
34 But the testimony which I receive is not from man; but these things I say, that ye may be saved.
੩੪ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬਚਾਏ ਜਾ ਸਕੋ।
35 He was the burning and shining lamp: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
੩੫ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਇੱਕ ਦੀਵੇ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਜਗਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੁਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਚਾਨਣ ਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਲਿਆ।
36 But the testimony which I have, is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to perform, the works themselves which I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
੩੬ਪਰ ਜੋ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਦੀ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਕੰਮ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।
37 And the Father who sent me, he hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.
੩੭ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਿਤਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਦੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣੀ। ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਦੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ।
38 And ye have not his word abiding in you; for whom he sent, him ye believe not.
੩੮ਉਸ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਵੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।
39 Ye search the Scriptures, because ye yourselves think that in them ye have everlasting life; and it is they which testify of me; (aiōnios g166)
੩੯ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਸੋਚ ਕੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਗ੍ਰੰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਦੀਪਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੋਂਗੇ। ਉਹੀ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ! (aiōnios g166)
40 and ye are not willing to come to me, that ye may have life.
੪੦ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਸਦੀਪਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਇੰਨਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ।
41 I receive not honor from men;
੪੧ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ।
42 but I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
੪੨ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ ਨਹੀਂ।
43 I have come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not; if another come in his own name, him ye will receive.
੪੩ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਪਰ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਬੂਲ ਕਰਦੇ। ਜੇਕਰ ਦੂਸਰਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੁਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲ ਕਰ ਲਓਗੇ।
44 How can ye believe while ye receive honor from one another, and seek not the honor that is from him who alone is God?
੪੪ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਉਸਤਤ ਦੀ ਚਾਹਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ?
45 Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye have placed your hope.
੪੫ਇਹ ਨਾ ਸੋਚੋ ਕਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਵਾਂਗਾ। ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੂਸਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਸ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
46 For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me; for he wrote of me.
੪੬ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੂਸਾ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੀ।
47 But if ye do not believe his writings, how will ye believe my words?
੪੭ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਲਿਖਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਫੇਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰੋਂਗੇ।”
