< John 4 >

1 When therefore Jesus knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
VaFarisi vakanzwa kuti Jesu akanga achiteverwa navanhu vazhinji uye achibhabhatidza vadzidzi vakawanda kupfuura Johani,
2 (though Jesus himself did not baptize, but his disciples, )
kunyange zvake akanga asiri Jesu aibhabhatidza, asi vadzidzi vake.
3 he left Judaea, and went again to Galilee.
Ishe akati anzwa izvi, akabva kuJudhea akadzokera kuGarirea zvakare.
4 And he must necessarily pass through Samaria.
Zvino akanga achifanira kupfuura nomuSamaria.
5 He cometh therefore to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the piece of land which Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
Saka akasvika paguta romuSamaria rainzi Saika, pedyo nomunda wakanga wapiwa kuna Josefa nababa vake Jakobho.
6 And Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with the journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
Tsime raJakobho raiva ipapo, uye Jesu, aneta sezvo akanga achibva parwendo, akagara pasi patsime ipapo. Yakanga iri nguva inenge yechitanhatu.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus saith to her, Give me to drink.
Mukadzi muSamaria akati auya kuzochera mvura, Jesu akati kwaari, “Ndipewo mvura yokunwa?”
8 For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
(Vadzidzi vake vakanga vapinda muguta kuti vandotenga zvokudya.)
9 The Samaritan woman saith to him, How is it that thou, who art a Jew, askest drink of me, who am a Samaritan woman? For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
Mukadzi muSamaria akati kwaari, “Iwe uri muJudha uye ini ndiri muSamaria. Seiko uchikumbira kwandiri mvura yokunwa?” (Nokuti vaJudha havadyidzani navaSamaria.)
10 Jesus answered and said to her, If thou hadst known the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldst have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Jesu akamupindura akati, “Dai waiziva chipo chaMwari uye kuti ndiani anokumbira mvura kwauri, ungadai wakumbira kwaari uye angadai akupa mvura mhenyu.”
11 The woman saith to him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Whence hast thou the living water?
Mukadzi akati, “Ishe, hamuna chamungacheresa nacho uye tsime rakadzika. Ko, mvura mhenyu mungaiwanepi?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his sons, and his cattle?
Ko, imi muri mukuru here, kuna baba vedu Jakobho, avo vakatipa tsime uye vakanwa pariri ivo pachavo, sezvakaitawo vanakomana vavo namakwai avo nemombe?”
13 Jesus answered and said to her, Every one that drinketh of this water, will thirst again;
Jesu akapindura akati, “Ani naani anonwa mvura iyi achava nenyotazve,
14 but whoever drinketh of the water that I will give him, will never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become within him a well of water springing up to everlasting life. (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
asi ani naani anonwa mvura yandichamupa haangatongovi nenyota. Zvirokwazvo, mvura yandichamupa ini ichava maari chitubu chemvura inoerera kuupenyu husingaperi.” (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
15 The woman saith to him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.
Mukadzi akati kwaari, “Ishe, ndipei mvura iyi kuitira kuti ndirege kuzova nenyotazve uye ndirege kuramba ndichingouya kuzochera mvura pano.”
16 He saith to her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
Iye akati, “Enda, undodana murume wako ugodzoka pano.”
17 The woman answered, I have no husband. Jesus saith to her, Thou saidst well, that thou hast no husband.
Akapindura akati, “Handina murume.” Jesu akati kwaari, “Wareva zvakanaka pawati hauna murume.
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband; in this thou hast spoken truly.
Chokwadi ndeichi, wakava navarume vashanu, uye murume waunaye zvino haazi murume wako. Zvawabva mukutaura ndicho chokwadi.”
19 The woman saith to him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
Mukadzi akati, “Ishe, ndinoona kuti muri muprofita.
20 Our fathers worshipped on this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
Madzibaba edu ainamata pagomo iri, asi imi vaJudha munoti, nzvimbo yatinofanira kunamata tiri ndimo muJerusarema.”
21 Jesus saith to her, Believe me, woman, the hour is coming, when ye shall neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Jesu akati, “Mai, nditendei, nguva inouya yamuchanamata Baba musiri pagomo rino kana muJerusarema.
22 Ye worship that which ye know not; we worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.
Imi vaSamaria munonamata chamusingazivi; isu tinonamata chatinoziva, nokuti ruponeso runobva kuvaJudha.
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for such worshippers the Father seeketh.
Asi nguva inouya uye yatouya zvino apo vanamati vechokwadi vachanamata Baba mumweya nomuzvokwadi, nokuti ndivo vanamati vanotsvakwa naBaba kuti vamunamate.
24 God is a spirit; and they who worship must worship in spirit and in truth.
Mwari mweya, uye vanomunamata vanofanira kumunamata mumweya nomuzvokwadi.”
25 The woman saith to him, I know that Messiah cometh (who is called Christ); when he hath come, he will tell us all things.
Mukadzi akati, “Ndinoziva kuti Mesiya, anonzi Kristu, ari kuuya. Paanouya, acharondedzera zvinhu zvose kwatiri.”
26 Jesus saith to her, I who speak to thee am he.
Ipapo Jesu akataura akati, “Ini ndiri kutaura newe ndini iye.”
27 And upon this his disciples came, and marveled that he was talking with a woman. Yet no one said, What dost thou seek? or, Why dost thou talk with her?
Pakarepo vadzidzi vake vakadzokera kwaari uye vakashamiswa vachiona achitaura nomukadzi. Asi hapana akamubvunza kuti, “Unodei?” kana kuti “Munotaurireiko naye?”
28 The woman then left her water-pot, and went away into the city, and saith to the men,
Ipapo, asiya chirongo chake, mukadzi akadzokera kuguta akandoti kuvanhu,
29 Come, see a man who told me all things which I have done. Is this the Christ?
“Uyai, muone murume anditaurira zvinhu zvose zvandakaita. Kuti uyu angava iye Kristu here?”
30 They went out of the city, and came to him.
Vakabuda muguta vakapinda munzira yavo vakananga kwaari.
31 In the mean while the disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, eat.
Vanhu vasati vasvika, vadzidzi vake vakafanomukurudzira vachiti, “Rabhi, imbowanai chamungadya.”
32 But he said to them, I have food to eat that ye know not of.
Asi iye akati kwavari, “Ndine chokudya chandinodya chamusingazivi.”
33 The disciples therefore said to one another, Hath any one brought him anything to eat?
Ipapo vadzidzi vake vakati kuno mumwe nomumwe wavo, “Asi pano munhu amuvigira zvokudya kanhi?”
34 Jesus saith to them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
Jesu akati kwavari, “Zvokudya zvangu ndiko kuita kuda kwowakandituma uye nokupedza basa rake.
35 Do ye not say, There are yet four months, and the harvest cometh? Lo! I say to you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.
Ko, imi hamuti here, ‘Kwasara mwedzi mina ipapo kucheka kwobva kwasvika?’ Ndinoti kwamuri, svinurai meso enyu uye mutarise kuminda! Yatoibva kuti ikohwewe.
36 Already is the reaper receiving wages, and gathering fruit unto everlasting life; that both the sower and the reaper may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
Kunyange iye zvino mukohwi anopiwa mubayiro wake, kunyange izvozvi anokohwa zvibereko zvoupenyu husingaperi, kuitira kuti mukushi nomukohwi vagofara pamwe chete. (aiōnios g166)
37 And herein is fulfilled the true saying, One soweth, and another reapeth.
Nokuti tsumo inoti, ‘Mumwe anokusha uye mumwe anokohwa ndeyezvokwadi.’
38 I have sent you to reap that whereon ye have not labored. Others have labored, and ye have entered into their labor.
Ndakakutumai kunokohwa zvamusina kushandira. Vamwe vakaita basa rakaoma, uye imi makakohwa mubayiro wokubata kwavo.”
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in him because of the words of the woman, who testified, He told me all things which I have done.
VaSamaria vazhinji vaibva muguta iro vakatenda kwaari nokuda kwouchapupu hwomukadzi hwokuti, “Akanditaurira zvose zvandakaita.”
40 When therefore the Samaritans came to him, they besought him to remain with them; and he remained there two days.
Saka vaSamaria vakasvika kwaari, vakamukumbira kuti agare navo, nokudaro akagarapo kwamazuva maviri.
41 And many more believed on account of his word;
Uye nokuda kwamashoko ake vamwezve vazhinji vakava vatendi.
42 and said to the woman, No longer do we believe on account of what thou hast told us; for we have ourselves heard him, and know that this is in truth the Saviour of the world.
Vakati kumukadzi uya, “Hatichatongotendi nokuda kwezvawataura chete; zvino tazvinzwira pachedu, uye tinoziva kuti murume uyu chokwadi ndiye Muponesi wenyika.”
43 And after the two days he went from that place into Galilee.
Mazuva maviri akati apfuura, akabva akaenda kuGarirea.
44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honor in his own country.
Zvino Jesu pachake akanga ambopupura kuti muprofita haakudzwi munyika yokwake.
45 When therefore he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all that he did in Jerusalem at the feast; for they also went to the feast.
Akati asvika muGarirea, vaGarirea vakamugamuchira. Vakanga vaona zvose zvaakanga aita muJerusarema pamutambo wePasika, nokuti naivowo vaivapo.
46 So he came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick, at Capernaum.
Akashanyirazve Kana yomuGarirea, uko kwaakanga ashandura mvura ikava waini. Uye ikoko kwakanga kuno mumwe mutariri wamambo akanga ane mwanakomana wake akanga avete achirwara paKapenaume.
47 He, having heard that Jesus had come out of Judaea into Galilee, went to him, and asked him to go down and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.
Murume uyu akati anzwa kuti Jesu asvika muGarirea achibva kuJudhea, akaenda kwaari akandomukumbira kuti auye azoporesa mwanakomana wake, uyo akanga ava pedyo nokufa.
48 Then Jesus said to him, Unless ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
Jesu akati kwaari, “Kana imi vanhu musina kuona zviratidzo nezvishamiso, hamungatongotendi.”
49 The nobleman saith to him, Sir, come down before my child die.
Mutariri wamambo akati, “Ishe, burukai muuye mwana wangu asati afa.”
50 Jesus saith to him, Go; thy son liveth. The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and went away.
Jesu akapindura akati, “Enda hako. Mwanakomana wako achararama.” Murume uyu akagamuchira shoko raJesu akaenda.
51 And as he was now going down, the servants met him, and brought word that his child was living.
Achiri munzira varanda vake vakasangana naye namashoko okuti mukomana akanga apora.
52 Then he inquired of them the hour when he began to mend. And they said to him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
Akati abvunza nguva yakatanga mwana kunzwa zviri nani, ivo vakati kwaari, “Fivha yakabva paari nezuro panguva dzechinomwe.”
53 So the father knew that it was in the same hour in which Jesus said to him, Thy son is living. And he himself believed, and his whole house.
Ipapo baba vaya vakayeuka kuti ndiyo yakanga iri nguva chaiyo paakanzi naJesu, “Mwanakomana wako achararama.” Saka iye neimba yake yose vakatenda.
54 This again, a second sign, Jesus wrought, when he had come out of Judaea into Galilee.
Ichi ndicho chakanga chiri chiratidzo chechipiri chakaitwa naJesu, abva kuJudhea ava kuGarirea.
