John 4
1 When therefore Jesus knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
Quando, pois, o Senhor entendeu que os fariseus ouviram que Jesus fazia e batizava mais discípulos que João
2 (though Jesus himself did not baptize, but his disciples, )
(ainda que Jesus mesmo não batizava, mas sim seus discípulos),
3 he left Judaea, and went again to Galilee.
Ele deixou a Judeia, e foi outra vez para a Galileia.
4 And he must necessarily pass through Samaria.
E foi necessário passar por Samaria.
5 He cometh therefore to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the piece of land which Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
Veio pois a uma cidade de Samaria, chamada Sicar, junto à propriedade que Jacó deu a seu filho José.
6 And Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with the journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
E ali estava a fonte de Jacó. Então Jesus, cansado do caminho, sentou-se assim junto à fonte; era isto quase à hora sexta.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus saith to her, Give me to drink.
Veio uma mulher de Samaria para tirar água; Disse-lhe Jesus: Dá-me de beber.
8 For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
(Porque seus discípulos haviam ido à cidade para a comprar de comer).
9 The Samaritan woman saith to him, How is it that thou, who art a Jew, askest drink of me, who am a Samaritan woman? For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
Disse-lhe pois a mulher samaritana: Como, sendo tu judeu, me pedes de beber, que sou mulher samaritana? (Porque os judeus não se comunicam com o samaritanos.)
10 Jesus answered and said to her, If thou hadst known the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldst have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Respondeu Jesus, e disse-lhe: Se tu conhecesses o dom de Deus, e quem é o que te diz: Dá-me de beber, tu lhe pedirias, e ele te daria água viva.
11 The woman saith to him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Whence hast thou the living water?
Disse a mulher: Senhor, tu não tens com que [a] tirar, e o poço é fundo; de onde pois tens a água viva?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his sons, and his cattle?
És tu maior que nosso pai Jacó, que nos deu o poço? E ele mesmo dele bebeu, e seus filhos, e seu gado?
13 Jesus answered and said to her, Every one that drinketh of this water, will thirst again;
Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Todo aquele que beber desta água voltará a ter sede;
15 The woman saith to him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.
Disse-lhe a mulher: Senhor, dá-me desta água, para que eu não tenha [mais] sede, nem venha aqui para tirar.
16 He saith to her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
Disse-lhe Jesus: Vai, chama a teu marido, e vem cá.
17 The woman answered, I have no husband. Jesus saith to her, Thou saidst well, that thou hast no husband.
A mulher respondeu, e disse: Não tenho marido. Disse-lhe Jesus: Bem disseste: Marido não tenho.
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband; in this thou hast spoken truly.
Porque cinco maridos tiveste, e o que agora tens não é teu marido; isto com verdade disseste.
19 The woman saith to him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
Disse-lhe a mulher: Senhor, vejo que és profeta.
20 Our fathers worshipped on this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
Nossos pais adoraram neste monte, e vós dizeis que em Jerusalém é o lugar onde se deve adorar.
21 Jesus saith to her, Believe me, woman, the hour is coming, when ye shall neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Disse-lhe Jesus: Mulher, crê em mim, que a hora vem, quando nem neste monte, nem em Jerusalém, adorareis ao Pai.
22 Ye worship that which ye know not; we worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.
Vós adorais o que não sabeis; nós adoramos o que sabemos, porque a salvação vem dos judeus.
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for such worshippers the Father seeketh.
Porém a hora vem, e agora é, quando os verdadeiros adoradores adorarão ao Pai em espírito e em verdade; porque também o Pai busca a tais que o adorem.
24 God is a spirit; and they who worship must worship in spirit and in truth.
Deus é Espírito, e os que o adoram devem adorá [-lo] em espírito e em verdade.
25 The woman saith to him, I know that Messiah cometh (who is called Christ); when he hath come, he will tell us all things.
Disse-lhe a mulher: Eu sei que o Messias vem (que se chama o Cristo); quando ele vier, todas as coisas nos anunciará.
26 Jesus saith to her, I who speak to thee am he.
Disse-lhe Jesus: Eu sou o que contigo falo.
27 And upon this his disciples came, and marveled that he was talking with a woman. Yet no one said, What dost thou seek? or, Why dost thou talk with her?
E nisto vieram seus discípulos; e maravilharam-se de que falasse com uma mulher; mas ninguém [lhe] disse: Que perguntas? ou, O que falas com ela?
28 The woman then left her water-pot, and went away into the city, and saith to the men,
Deixou, pois, a mulher seu vaso de água, e foi à cidade, e disse ao povo:
29 Come, see a man who told me all things which I have done. Is this the Christ?
Vinde, vede um homem que me disse tudo quanto tenho feito; por acaso não é este o Cristo?
30 They went out of the city, and came to him.
Saíram, pois, da cidade, e vieram a ele.
31 In the mean while the disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, eat.
E enquanto isso, os discípulos lhe pediam, dizendo: Rabi, come.
32 But he said to them, I have food to eat that ye know not of.
Porém ele lhes disse: Uma comida tenho que comer, que vós não sabeis.
33 The disciples therefore said to one another, Hath any one brought him anything to eat?
Diziam, pois, os discípulos uns aos outros: Por acaso alguém lhe trouxe de comer?
34 Jesus saith to them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
Disse-lhes Jesus: Minha comida é fazer a vontade daquele que me enviou, e cumprir sua obra.
35 Do ye not say, There are yet four months, and the harvest cometh? Lo! I say to you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.
Não dizeis vós, que ainda há quatro meses até que venha a ceifa? Eis que vos digo: Levantai vossos olhos, e vede as terras; porque já estão brancas para a ceifa.
36 Already is the reaper receiving wages, and gathering fruit unto everlasting life; that both the sower and the reaper may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
E o que ceifa, recebe recompensa, e junta fruto para vida eterna; para que ambos se alegrem, tanto o que semeia, quanto o que ceifa. (aiōnios g166)
37 And herein is fulfilled the true saying, One soweth, and another reapeth.
Porque nisto é verdadeiro o ditado, que: Um é o que semeia, e outro o que ceifa.
38 I have sent you to reap that whereon ye have not labored. Others have labored, and ye have entered into their labor.
Eu vos enviei para ceifar onde vós não trabalhastes; outros trabalharam, e vós entrastes no trabalho deles.
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in him because of the words of the woman, who testified, He told me all things which I have done.
E muitos dos samaritanos daquela cidade creram nele pela palavra da mulher, que testemunhava, dizendo: Ele me disse tudo quanto eu tenho feito.
40 When therefore the Samaritans came to him, they besought him to remain with them; and he remained there two days.
Vindo pois os samaritanos a ele, suplicaram-lhe que ficasse com eles; e ele ficou ali dois dias.
41 And many more believed on account of his word;
E creram ainda muitos mais pela palavra dele.
42 and said to the woman, No longer do we believe on account of what thou hast told us; for we have ourselves heard him, and know that this is in truth the Saviour of the world.
E diziam à mulher: Já não cremos por teu dito; porque nós mesmos temos [o] ouvido, e sabemos que verdadeiramente este é o Cristo, o Salvador do mundo.
43 And after the two days he went from that place into Galilee.
E depois de dois dias partiu dali, e foi-se para a Galileia.
44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honor in his own country.
Porque o mesmo Jesus testemunhou que não tem o Profeta honra em sua própria terra.
45 When therefore he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all that he did in Jerusalem at the feast; for they also went to the feast.
Vindo pois para a Galileia, os Galileus o receberam, havendo visto todas as coisas que fizera em Jerusalém no [dia] da festa, porque também eles foram ao [dia] da festa.
46 So he came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick, at Capernaum.
Veio pois Jesus outra vez a Caná da Galileia, onde da água fizera vinho. E estava ali um nobre, cujo filho estava enfermo em Cafarnaum.
47 He, having heard that Jesus had come out of Judaea into Galilee, went to him, and asked him to go down and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.
Ouvindo este que Jesus vinha da Judeia para a Galileia, foi ter com ele, e suplicava-lhe que descesse, e curasse a seu filho, porque já estava à morte.
48 Then Jesus said to him, Unless ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
Disse-lhe pois Jesus: Se não virdes sinais e milagres não crereis.
49 The nobleman saith to him, Sir, come down before my child die.
O nobre lhe disse: Senhor, desce, antes que meu filho morra.
50 Jesus saith to him, Go; thy son liveth. The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and went away.
Disse-lhe Jesus: Vai, teu filho vive. E o homem creu na palavra que Jesus lhe disse, e se foi.
51 And as he was now going down, the servants met him, and brought word that his child was living.
E [estando] ele já descendo, seus servos lhe saíram ao encontro, e [lhe] anunciaram, dizendo: Teu filho vive.
52 Then he inquired of them the hour when he began to mend. And they said to him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
Perguntou-lhes pois, a que hora se achara melhor; e disseram-lhe: Ontem às sete horas a febre o deixou.
53 So the father knew that it was in the same hour in which Jesus said to him, Thy son is living. And he himself believed, and his whole house.
Entendeu pois o pai, que aquela era a mesma hora em que Jesus lhe disse: Teu filho vive. E creu nele, e toda sua casa.
54 This again, a second sign, Jesus wrought, when he had come out of Judaea into Galilee.
Este segundo sinal Jesus voltou a fazer, quando ele veio d [a] Judeia a Galileia.
