< John 4 >

1 When therefore Jesus knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
Awo Yesu bwe yamanya nti Abafalisaayo bategedde nti abantu bangi bafuuse bayigirizwa be, era ng’abatiza bangi okusinga Yokaana,
2 (though Jesus himself did not baptize, but his disciples, )
newaakubadde nga Yesu yennyini teyabatiza wabula abayigirizwa be, be baabatizanga,
3 he left Judaea, and went again to Galilee.
n’ava e Buyudaaya n’addayo e Ggaliraaya.
4 And he must necessarily pass through Samaria.
Kyali kimugwanira okuyita mu Samaliya.
5 He cometh therefore to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the piece of land which Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
Awo n’atuuka mu kibuga ky’e Samaliya ekiyitibwa Sukali, nga kiri kumpi n’ekibanja Yakobo kye yawa mutabani we Yusufu.
6 And Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with the journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
Awo we waali oluzzi lwa Yakobo. Yesu yali akooye olw’olugendo lwe yatambula, n’atuula awo ku luzzi. Obudde bwali ng’essaawa mukaaga ez’omu ttuntu.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus saith to her, Give me to drink.
Awo omukazi Omusamaliya bwe yajja okukima amazzi, Yesu n’amugamba nti, “Mpa ku mazzi nnyweko.”
8 For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
Mu kiseera ekyo abayigirizwa be baali bagenze mu kibuga okugulayo ku mmere.
9 The Samaritan woman saith to him, How is it that thou, who art a Jew, askest drink of me, who am a Samaritan woman? For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
Awo omukazi Omusamaliya n’amugamba nti, “Ggwe Omuyudaaya oyinza otya okusaba nze Omusamaliya amazzi okunywa?” Kubanga Abayudaaya nga tebakolagana na Basamaliya.
10 Jesus answered and said to her, If thou hadst known the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldst have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Yesu n’amuddamu nti, “Singa obadde omanyi ekirabo kya Katonda, n’oyo akugamba nti mpa nnywe ku mazzi bw’ali ggwe wandimusabye, naye yandikuwadde amazzi amalamu.”
11 The woman saith to him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Whence hast thou the living water?
Omukazi n’amugamba nti, “Ssebo, tolina kalobo, n’oluzzi luwanvu nnyo.
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his sons, and his cattle?
Ate n’ekirala, ggwe oli mukulu okusinga jjajjaffe Yakobo eyatuwa oluzzi luno ate nga yanywangamu ye n’abaana be n’ensolo ze?”
13 Jesus answered and said to her, Every one that drinketh of this water, will thirst again;
Yesu n’amuddamu nti, “Buli muntu yenna anywa ku mazzi gano ennyonta eriddamu okumuluma.
14 but whoever drinketh of the water that I will give him, will never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become within him a well of water springing up to everlasting life. (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
Naye buli anywa ku mazzi nze ge ndimuwa, talirumwa nnyonta emirembe gyonna era galifuuka mu ye ensulo etekalira, ne gakulukuta okutuuka ku bulamu obutaggwaawo.” (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
15 The woman saith to him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.
Omukazi n’amugamba nti, “Ssebo, mpa ku mazzi ago, ennyonta eremenga kunnuma era nneme kujjanga wano kukima mazzi.”
16 He saith to her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
Yesu n’amugamba nti, “Genda oyite balo, okomewo.”
17 The woman answered, I have no husband. Jesus saith to her, Thou saidst well, that thou hast no husband.
Omukazi n’amuddamu nti, “Sirina baze!” Yesu n’amugamba nti, “Oyogedde kituufu nti tolina balo.
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband; in this thou hast spoken truly.
Kubanga walina babalo bataano, naye oyo gw’olina kaakano si balo. Ekyo oyogedde mazima.”
19 The woman saith to him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
Omukazi n’agamba Yesu nti, “Ssebo, ndaba ng’oli nnabbi.
20 Our fathers worshipped on this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
Ku lusozi luno bajjajjaffe kwe baasinzizanga. Naye mmwe mugamba nti, Yerusaalemi kye kifo ekigwana okusinzizangamu.”
21 Jesus saith to her, Believe me, woman, the hour is coming, when ye shall neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Yesu n’amugamba nti, “Mukazi wattu nzikiriza, kubanga ekiseera kijja kye mutalisinzizangamu Kitaffe ku lusozi luno wadde mu Yerusaalemi.
22 Ye worship that which ye know not; we worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.
Mmwe musinza kye mutamanyi; ffe tusinza kye tumanyi kubanga obulokozi buva mu Buyudaaya.
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for such worshippers the Father seeketh.
Naye ekiseera kijja, era kituuse, abo abasinziza mu mazima bwe banaasinzizanga Kitaffe mu mwoyo ne mu mazima. Kubanga Kitaffe anoonya abo abamusinza era n’abo abamusinza kibagwanira okumusinzanga mu mwoyo ne mu mazima.
24 God is a spirit; and they who worship must worship in spirit and in truth.
Kubanga Katonda Mwoyo n’abo abamusinza kibagwanira okumusinza mu mwoyo ne mu mazima.”
25 The woman saith to him, I know that Messiah cometh (who is called Christ); when he hath come, he will tell us all things.
Omukazi n’amugamba nti, “Weewaawo, mmanyi nti Masiya, gwe bayita Kristo, ajja. Ye bw’alijja, alitutegeeza ebintu byonna.”
26 Jesus saith to her, I who speak to thee am he.
Yesu n’amugamba nti, “Nze nzuuno ayogera naawe.”
27 And upon this his disciples came, and marveled that he was talking with a woman. Yet no one said, What dost thou seek? or, Why dost thou talk with her?
Awo mu kiseera ekyo abayigirizwa ba Yesu ne bakomawo. Ne beewuunya okulaba ng’ayogera n’omukazi. Kyokka ne watabaawo amubuuza nsonga emwogezezza naye wadde bye babadde boogerako.
28 The woman then left her water-pot, and went away into the city, and saith to the men,
Awo omukazi n’aleka awo ensuwa ye n’agenda mu kibuga n’ategeeza abantu nti,
29 Come, see a man who told me all things which I have done. Is this the Christ?
“Mujje mulabe omuntu antegeezezza buli kye nnali nkoze. Ayinza okuba nga ye Kristo?”
30 They went out of the city, and came to him.
Ne bava mu kibuga ne bajja eri Yesu.
31 In the mean while the disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, eat.
Mu kiseera ekyo abayigirizwa baali beegayirira Yesu alye ku mmere, nga bagamba nti, “Labbi lya ku mmere.”
32 But he said to them, I have food to eat that ye know not of.
N’abaddamu nti, “Nze nnina ekyokulya mmwe kye mutamanyi.”
33 The disciples therefore said to one another, Hath any one brought him anything to eat?
Awo abayigirizwa ne beebuuzaganya nti, “Waliwo omuntu amuleetedde ekyokulya?”
34 Jesus saith to them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
Yesu n’abaddamu nti, “Ekyokulya kyange kwe kukola eyantuma by’ayagala, era n’okutuukiriza omulimu gwe.
35 Do ye not say, There are yet four months, and the harvest cometh? Lo! I say to you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.
Mmwe temugamba nti, ‘Ekyasigaddeyo emyezi ena amakungula gatuuke?’ Kale muyimuse amaaso gammwe, mutunuulire ennimiro! Amakungula gatuuse.
36 Already is the reaper receiving wages, and gathering fruit unto everlasting life; that both the sower and the reaper may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
Akungula asasulwa empeera ye era n’akuŋŋaanyiza ebibala mu bulamu obutaggwaawo, olwo asiga n’akungula balyoke basanyukire wamu. (aiōnios g166)
37 And herein is fulfilled the true saying, One soweth, and another reapeth.
Bwe kityo ekigambo nti, ‘Omu asiga omulala n’akungula,’ kyekiva kiba eky’amazima.
38 I have sent you to reap that whereon ye have not labored. Others have labored, and ye have entered into their labor.
Mbatumye mmwe okukungula kye mutaasiga. Abalala be baasiga naye mmwe mugobolodde.”
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in him because of the words of the woman, who testified, He told me all things which I have done.
Abasamaliya bangi ab’omu kibuga abaamukkiririzaamu olw’ebyo omukazi bye yabategeeza, ng’abagamba nti, “Antegeezezza buli kye nnali nkoze!”
40 When therefore the Samaritans came to him, they besought him to remain with them; and he remained there two days.
Awo Abasamaliya bwe bajja eri Yesu ne bamwegayirira yeeyongere okubeera nabo, n’abeera nabo ennaku bbiri.
41 And many more believed on account of his word;
Bangi ne bakkiriza olw’ebyo bye yabategeeza.
42 and said to the woman, No longer do we believe on account of what thou hast told us; for we have ourselves heard him, and know that this is in truth the Saviour of the world.
Awo ne bagamba omukazi nti, “Tumukkiriza si lwa bigambo byo byokka, naye naffe twewuliridde ebigambo bye. Ddala tutegedde nga ye Mulokozi w’ensi.”
43 And after the two days he went from that place into Galilee.
Ennaku ezo ebbiri bwe zaggwaako, Yesu n’ava e Samaliya n’alaga e Ggaliraaya.
44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honor in his own country.
Ye yennyini yagamba nti, “Nnabbi taweebwa kitiibwa mu nsi gy’asibuka.”
45 When therefore he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all that he did in Jerusalem at the feast; for they also went to the feast.
Awo Abagaliraaya ne bamwaniriza n’essanyu lingi nnyo, kubanga baali bamaze okulaba eby’amagero bye yakolera mu Yerusaalemi bwe baali ku Mbaga ey’Okuyitako.
46 So he came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick, at Capernaum.
Yesu n’akomawo mu Kaana eky’e Ggaliraaya, gye yafuulira amazzi wayini. Waaliyo omukungu wa gavumenti ow’e Kaperunawumu eyalina mutabani we nga mulwadde.
47 He, having heard that Jesus had come out of Judaea into Galilee, went to him, and asked him to go down and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.
Omukungu bwe yawulira nga Yesu avudde e Buyudaaya azze e Ggaliraaya, n’agenda gy’ali n’amusaba agende amuwonyeze mutabani we eyali okumpi n’okufa.
48 Then Jesus said to him, Unless ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
Yesu n’amugamba nti, “Temusobola kunzikiriza nga temulabye ku bubonero na byamagero?”
49 The nobleman saith to him, Sir, come down before my child die.
Omukungu n’amugamba nti, “Mukama wange, nkusaba oserengete ojje ng’omwana wange tannafa!”
50 Jesus saith to him, Go; thy son liveth. The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and went away.
Awo Yesu n’amugamba nti, “Ggenda mutabani wo awonye!” Omusajja n’akkiriza Yesu ky’amugambye n’agenda.
51 And as he was now going down, the servants met him, and brought word that his child was living.
Naye bwe yali ng’akyali mu kkubo abaddu be ne bamusisinkana ne bamutegeeza nti mutabani we awonye.
52 Then he inquired of them the hour when he began to mend. And they said to him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
N’ababuuza ekiseera omulenzi we yassuukidde. Ne bamuddamu nti, “Jjo olw’eggulo essaawa nga musanvu omusujja ne gumuwonako!”
53 So the father knew that it was in the same hour in which Jesus said to him, Thy son is living. And he himself believed, and his whole house.
Awo Kitaawe w’omulenzi n’ajjukira nga ky’ekiseera ekyo Yesu we yamugambira nti, “Mutabani wo awonye.” Awo omukungu oyo n’ab’enju ye bonna ne bakkiriza.
54 This again, a second sign, Jesus wrought, when he had come out of Judaea into Galilee.
Kino kye kyamagero ekyokubiri Yesu kye yakola ng’akomyewo e Ggaliraaya ng’avudde e Buyudaaya.
