< John 3 >
1 And there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
Farisaaweta yaraappe gidida, Ayhudeta halaqay, Niqodimoosa giya issi addey de7ees.
2 This man came to him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou hast come as a teacher from God; for no one can do these signs which thou doest, unless God be with him.
Niqodimoosi qamma Yesuusakko yidi, “Asttamaariyaw, neeni Xoossay kiittida asttamaare gideyssa nuuni eroos. Ays giikko, Xoossay iyara doonna ixxiko ha neeni oothiya malaata oothanaw dandda7iya asi baawa” yaagis.
3 Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly do I say to thee, Unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Yesuusi zaaridi, “Taani new tuma odays; oonikka zaari yelettonna ixxiko Xoossaa kawotethaa be7anaw dandda7enna” yaagis.
4 Nicodemus saith to him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother's womb a second time, and be born?
Niqodimoosi, “Ceega asi waanidi zaari yelettanaw dandda7ii? Ba aaye ulo simmi gelidi zaari yelettanaw dandda7ii?” yaagis.
5 Jesus answered, Truly, truly do I say to thee, Unless a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.
Yesuusi zaaridi, “Taani new tuma odays; oonikka haathafenne Geeshsha Ayyaanaappe yelettonna attiko, Xoossaa kawotethaa gelanaw dandda7enna.
6 That which is born of the flesh, is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit, is spirit.
Asho na7atethi aawuppenne aayippe yees; Xoossaa na7atethi Geeshsha Ayyaanaappe imettees.
7 Marvel not that I said to thee, Ye must be born again.
Taani, ‘Hintte zaari yelettanaw bessees’ gada hinttew odida gisho neeni malaalettof.
8 The wind bloweth where it will; and thou hearest the sound thereof, but knowest not whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

9 Nicodemus answered and said to him, How can these things be?
Yaatin Niqodimoosi, “Hessi waanidi hananaw dandda7ii?” yaagidi oychchis.
10 Jesus answered and said to him, Art thou the teacher of Israel, and understandest not these things?
Yesuusi zaaridi, “Neeni Isra7eelata asttamaare gidashe hayssa erikkii?
11 Truly, truly do I say to thee, We speak that which we know, and testify that which we have seen; and ye receive not our testimony.
Taani new tuma odays; nu ereyssa odoosinne be7idabaa markkattoos, shin nu markkatethaa hintte ekkeketa.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how will ye believe if I tell you heavenly things?

13 And no one hath ascended into heaven, but he who came down from heaven, even the Son of man.
Saloppe wodhdhida Asa Na7aappe attin salo keyiday oonikka baawa; [salon de7iya Asa Na7ay tana]” yaagis.

27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, unless it be given him from heaven.
Yohaannisi zaaridi, “Xoossay immonna asi aybibaakka ekkanaw dandda7enna.
