John 3
1 And there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
Niin oli yksi mies Pharisealaisista, Nikodemus nimeltä, Juudalaisten ylimmäinen.
2 This man came to him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou hast come as a teacher from God; for no one can do these signs which thou doest, unless God be with him.
Se tuli yöllä Jesuksen tykö ja sanoi hänelle: Mestari, me tiedämme, että sinä olet Jumamalasta opettajaksi tullut; sillä ei taida kenkään niitä tunnustähtiä tehdä, joita sinä teet, jollei Jumala ole hänen kanssansa.
3 Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly do I say to thee, Unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Jesus vastasi ja sanoi hänelle: totisesti, totisesti sanon minä sinulle: ellei joku vastuudesta synny, ei hän taida Jumalanmalan valtakuntaa nähdä.
4 Nicodemus saith to him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother's womb a second time, and be born?
Nikodemus sanoi hänelle: kuinka taitaa ihminen vanhana syntyä? taitaako hän äitinsä kohtuun jälleen mennä, ja syntyä?
5 Jesus answered, Truly, truly do I say to thee, Unless a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus vastasi: totisesti, totisesti sanon minä sinulle: ellei joku synny vedestä ja Hengestä ei hän taida Jumalan valtakuntaan sisälle tulla.
6 That which is born of the flesh, is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit, is spirit.
Mitä lihasta syntynyt on, se on liha, ja mitä Hengestä syntynyt on se on henki.
7 Marvel not that I said to thee, Ye must be born again.
Älä ihmettele, että minä sanoin sinulle: teidän pitää uudesta syntymän.
8 The wind bloweth where it will; and thou hearest the sound thereof, but knowest not whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Tuuli puhaltaa, kussa hän tahtoo, ja sinä kuulet hänen humunsa, ja et tiedä, kusta hän tulee taikka kuhunka hän menee: näin on jokainen, joka Hengestä syntynyt on.
9 Nicodemus answered and said to him, How can these things be?
Vastasi Nikodemus ja sanoi hänelle: kuinka ne taitavat tapahtua?
10 Jesus answered and said to him, Art thou the teacher of Israel, and understandest not these things?
Jesus vastasi ja sanoi hänelle: sinä olet mestari Israelissa, ja et näitä tiedä!
11 Truly, truly do I say to thee, We speak that which we know, and testify that which we have seen; and ye receive not our testimony.
Totisesti, totisesti sanon minä sinulle: me puhumme, mitä me tiedämme, ja todistamme, mitä me näemme, ja ette ota vastaan meidän todistustamme.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how will ye believe if I tell you heavenly things?
Jos minä maallisia teille sanoin, ja ette usko: kuinka te uskoisitte, jos minä taivaallisia teille sanoisin?
13 And no one hath ascended into heaven, but he who came down from heaven, even the Son of man.
Ei astu kenkään ylös taivaasen, vaan joka taivaasta astui alas, Ihmisen Poika, joka on taivaassa.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up
Ja niinkuin Moses ylensi kärmeen korvessa, niin myös Ihmisen Poika pitää ylennettämän.
Että jokainen, joka uskoo hänen päällensä, ei pidä hukkuman, mutta ijankaikkisen elämän saaman. (aiōnios g166)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave the only begotten Son, that every one who believeth in him may not perish, but may have everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
Sillä niin on Jumala maailmaa rakastanut, että hän antoi ainoan Poikansa, että jokainen, joka uskoo hänen päällensä, ei pidä hukkuman, mutta ijankaikkisen elämän saaman. (aiōnios g166)
17 For God sent not the Son into the world to condemn the world, but that through him the world might be saved.
Sillä ei Jumala lähettänyt Poikaansa maailmaan, tuomitsemaan maailmaa, mutta että maailma pitää hänen kauttansa vapahdettaman.
18 He that believeth in him is not condemned; he that believeth not hath already been condemned, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Joka hänen päällensä uskoo, ei häntä tuomita; mutta joka ei usko, se on jo tuomittu; sillä ei hän uskonut Jumalan ainoan Pojan nimen päälle.
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light hath come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil.
Mutta tämä on tuomio: että valkeus tuli maailmaan, ja ihmiset rakastivat enemmin pimeyttä kuin valkeutta; sillä heidän työnsä olivat pahat.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
Sillä jokainen, joka pahaa tekee, se vihaa valkeutta eikä tule valkeuteen, ettei hänen töitänsä pitäisi laitettaman.
21 But he that doeth the truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Mutta joka totuuden tekee, se tulee valkeuteen, että hänen työnsä nähtäisiin; sillä ne ovat Jumalassa tehdyt.
22 After these things Jesus and his disciples came into the land of Judaea; and there he remained with them, and baptized.
Sitte tuli Jesus ja hänen opetuslapsensa Juudean maahan, ja asui siellä heidän kanssansa, ja kasti.
23 And John also was baptizing in AEnon, near Salim, because there was much water there; and they came, and were baptized.
Mutta Johannes kasti myös Enonissa läsnä Salimia, sillä siellä oli palto vettä; ja he tulivat ja kastettiin.
24 For John was not yet thrown into prison.
Sillä ei Johannes ollut vielä silloin vankiuteen heitetty.
25 Then there arose a question on the part of John's disciples with a Jew about purifying.
Niin tuli kysymys Johanneksen opetuslasten ja Juudalaisten välillä puhdistuksesta.
26 And they came to John, and said to him, Rabbi, he who was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou hast borne witness, behold, he baptizeth, and all men are going to him.
Ja he tulivat Johanneksen tykö ja sanoivat hänelle: opettaja, se joka sinun kanssas oli toisella puolella Jordania, josta sinä todistit, katso, hän kastaa, ja jokainen menee hänen tykönsä.
27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, unless it be given him from heaven.
Johannes vastasi ja sanoi: ei ihminen taida mitään ottaa, ellei hänelle anneta taivaasta.
28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I was sent before that man.
Te olette itse minun todistajani, että minä olen sanonut: en minä ole Kristus, vaan minä olen hänen edellänsä lähetetty.
29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. This my joy then hath become full.
Jolla on morsian, se on ylkä; mutta yljän ystävä, joka seisoo ja kuultelee häntä, se iloittaa itsiänsä yljän äänestä sangen suuresti; sentähden on tämä minun iloni täytetty.
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
Hänen tulee kasvaa, mutta minun pitää vähenemän.
31 He that cometh from above is above all. He that is from the earth is earthly, and speaketh earthly things; he that cometh from heaven
Joka ylhäältä tulee, se on kaikkein päällä, ja joka maasta on, se on maasta ja puhuu maasta. Joka taivaasta tulee, hän on kaikkein ylin.
32 testifieth what he hath seen and heard; and no one receiveth his testimony.
Ja mitä hän nähnyt ja kuullut on, sen hän todistaa, ja ei kenkään ota vastaan hänen todistustansa.
33 He that hath received his testimony hath set his seal that God is true.
Joka hänen todistuksensa otti vastaan, se päätti Jumalan olevan totisen.
34 For he whom God sent speaketh the words of God; for he giveth not the Spirit by measure.
Sillä jonka Jumala lähetti, se puhuu Jumalan sanoja; sillä ei Jumala anna Henkeä mitalla.
35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
Isä rakastaa Poikaa, ja antoi kaikki hänen käteensä.
36 He that believeth in the Son hath everlasting life; and he that disobeyeth the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. (aiōnios g166)
Joka uskoo Pojan päälle, hänellä on ijankaikkinen elämä; mutta joka ei usko Pojan päälle, ei hänen pidä elämää näkemän, mutta Jumalan viha pysyy hänen päällänsä. (aiōnios g166)
