John 2
1 And on the third day there was a marriage-feast in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there.
| دو روز بعد، مادر عیسی در یک جشن عروسی در دهکدهٔ قانا در جلیل میهمان بود. |
2 And both Jesus and his disciples were invited to the feast.
| عیسی و شاگردان او نیز به عروسی دعوت شده بودند. |
3 And they had no wine, because the wine of the feast had failed. Then the mother of Jesus saith to him, There is no wine.
| هنگام جشن، شراب تمام شد. مادر عیسی با نگرانی نزد او آمد و گفت: «شراب ندارند!» |
4 Jesus saith to her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? My hour is not yet come.
| عیسی فرمود: «بانوی گرامی، چرا مرا درگیر این کار می‌سازی؟ زمان من هنوز فرا نرسیده است.» |
5 His mother saith to the servants, Whatever he saith to you, do it.
| با این حال، مادر عیسی به خدمتکاران گفت: «هر چه به شما می‌گوید، انجام دهید.» |
6 Now there were set there six water-pots of stone, in conformity with the Jews' custom of purifying, containing two or three firkins apiece.
| در آنجا شش خمرهٔ سنگی بود که فقط در مراسم مذهبی یهودیان از آن استفاده می‌شد و گنجایش هر یک حدود صد لیتر بود. |
7 Jesus saith to them, Fill the water-pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
| عیسی به خدمتکاران فرمود: «این خمره‌ها را پر از آب کنید.» |
8 And he saith to them, Draw out now, and bear it to the master of the feast. And they bore it.
| وقتی پر کردند، فرمود: «حالا کمی از آن را بردارید و نزد رئیس مجلس ببرید!» |
9 But when the master of the feast tasted the water that had been made wine, not knowing whence it was, but the servants who drew the water knew, he called the bridegroom
| رئیس مجلس خبر نداشت آن آب را که شراب شده بود، از کجا آورده‌اند (هرچند خدمتکاران می‌دانستند). پس وقتی آن را چشید، داماد را صدا زد |
10 and said to him, Every man setteth on the good wine first, and when men have drunk freely, that which is worse. Thou hast kept the good wine until now.
| و گفت: «میزبانان همیشه با شراب خوب از میهمانان پذیرایی می‌کنند و بعد که همه سرشان گرم شد، شراب ارزانتر را می‌آورند. ولی تو شراب خوب را برای آخر نگه داشته‌ای.» |
11 This beginning of the signs Jesus made in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
| بدین ترتیب عیسی نخستین نشانۀ معجزه‌آسای خود را در قانای جلیل به ظهور آورد و جلال خود را آشکار ساخت و شاگردانش به او ایمان آوردند. |
12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother, and his brothers, and his disciples; and they abode there not many days.
| سپس عیسی با مادر، برادران و شاگردان خود برای چند روز به شهر کَفَرناحوم رفت. |
13 And the passover of the Jews was near; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
| عید پِسَح که یکی از اعیاد بزرگ یهود بود، نزدیک می‌شد. پس عیسی به شهر اورشلیم رفت. |
14 And he found in the temple those who sold oxen, and sheep, and doves, and the money-changers sitting.
| آنجا، در معبد، مردم را دید که برای انجام مراسم قربانی، به خرید و فروش گاو، گوسفند و کبوتر مشغولند. صرّافان پولها را روی میزها چیده بودند و با مشتری‌ها داد و ستد می‌کردند. |
15 And having made a scourge of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and poured out the money of the exchangers, and overthrew the tables;
| عیسی با طناب، تازیانه‌ای ساخت و همه را از آنجا بیرون کرد. او گاوان و گوسفندان را بیرون راند و سکه‌های صرافان را بر زمین ریخت و میزهای ایشان را واژگون ساخت. |
16 and said to those who sold the doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house a house of merchandise.
| سپس به سراغ کبوترفروشان رفت و گفت: «اینها را از اینجا بیرون ببرید و خانهٔ پدر مرا به بازار تبدیل نکنید.» |
17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for thy house will consume me.”
| آنگاه شاگردان او آن نبوّت کتب مقدّس را به یاد آوردند که می‌فرماید: «اشتیاقی که برای خانۀ تو دارم، مثل آتش در من زبانه می‌کشد.» |
18 The Jews therefore answered and said to him, What sign dost thou show us, seeing thou doest these things?
| سران قوم یهود از عیسی پرسیدند: «تو چه اجازه و اختیاری داری که این کارها را انجام دهی؟ اگر خدا اجازۀ این را به تو داده، با نشانه‌ای معجزه‌آسا آن را به ما ثابت کن!» |
19 Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
| عیسی جواب داد: «بسیار خوب، معجزه‌ای که برای شما می‌کنم این است: این معبد را خراب کنید تا من در عرض سه روز آن را دوباره بسازم!» |
20 Then said the Jews, Forty-six years was this temple in building; and wilt thou raise it up in three days?
| گفتند: «چه می‌گویی؟ چهل و شش سال طول کشید تا این خانه را ساختند. تو می‌خواهی در سه روز آن را بسازی؟» |
21 But he spoke of the temple of his body.
| ولی منظور عیسی از «این معبد»، بدن خودش بود. |
22 When therefore he had risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had spoken.
| پس از اینکه عیسی از میان مردگان برخاست و زنده شد، شاگردانش این گفتهٔ او را به یاد آوردند. آنگاه به کتب مقدّس و نیز به کلام عیسی ایمان آوردند. |
23 And when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, at the feast, many believed in his name, when they saw his signs which he wrought.
| به خاطر نشانه‌های معجزآسای او در روزهای عید، بسیاری در اورشلیم به او ایمان آوردند. |
24 But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he knew all men;
| ولی عیسی به آنها اعتماد نکرد، چون از قلب مردم آگاه بود، |
25 and had no need that any one should testify concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.
| و لازم نبود کسی به او بگوید که مردم چقدر زود تغییر عقیده می‌دهند، چون او انسان را خوب می‌شناخت. |
