John 2
1 And on the third day there was a marriage-feast in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there.
| וביום השלישי היתה חתנה בקנה אשר בגליל ואם ישוע היתה שם׃ |
2 And both Jesus and his disciples were invited to the feast.
| וישוע ותלמידיו היו גם הם קרואים אל החתנה׃ |
3 And they had no wine, because the wine of the feast had failed. Then the mother of Jesus saith to him, There is no wine.
| ויחסר היין ותאמר אם ישוע אליו יין אין להם׃ |
4 Jesus saith to her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? My hour is not yet come.
| ויאמר אליה ישוע מה לי ולך אשה עתי עדין לא באה׃ |
5 His mother saith to the servants, Whatever he saith to you, do it.
| ותאמר אמו אל המשרתים ככל אשר יאמר לכם תעשו׃ |
6 Now there were set there six water-pots of stone, in conformity with the Jews' custom of purifying, containing two or three firkins apiece.
| והנה ששה כדי אבן ערוכים שם כמשפט היהודים לטהרתם שתים או שלש בתים יכיל כל אחד׃ |
7 Jesus saith to them, Fill the water-pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
| ויאמר אליהם ישוע מלאו לכם הכדים מים וימלאום עד למעלה׃ |
8 And he saith to them, Draw out now, and bear it to the master of the feast. And they bore it.
| ויאמר שאבו נא והביאו אל רב המסבה ויביאו׃ |
9 But when the master of the feast tasted the water that had been made wine, not knowing whence it was, but the servants who drew the water knew, he called the bridegroom
| ויטעם רב המסבה את המים אשר נהפכו ליין ולא ידע מאין הוא ואולם המשרתים אשר שאבו את המים ידעו ויקרא רב המסבה אל החתן׃ |
10 and said to him, Every man setteth on the good wine first, and when men have drunk freely, that which is worse. Thou hast kept the good wine until now.
| ויאמר אליו כל איש יתן בראשונה את היין הטוב וכאשר ישכרו יתן להם את הגרוע ואתה צפנת היין הטוב עד עתה׃ |
11 This beginning of the signs Jesus made in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
| זאת תחלת האתות אשר עשה ישוע בקנה אשר בארץ הגליל וגלה את כבודו ויאמינו בו תלמידיו׃ |
12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother, and his brothers, and his disciples; and they abode there not many days.
| ויהי אחרי כן וירד אל כפר נחום הוא ואמו ואחיו ותלמידיו ולא ארכו ימי שבתם שם׃ |
13 And the passover of the Jews was near; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
| ויקרבו ימי חג הפסח אשר ליהודים ויעל ישוע ירושלים׃ |
14 And he found in the temple those who sold oxen, and sheep, and doves, and the money-changers sitting.
| וימצא במקדש מכרי בקר וצאן ובני יונה ואת מחליפי כסף ישבים שם׃ |
15 And having made a scourge of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and poured out the money of the exchangers, and overthrew the tables;
| ויקח חבלים ויעבתם לשוט ויגרש כלם מן המקדש ואת הצאן ואת הבקר ויפזר את מעות השלחנים ויהפך שלחנתיהם׃ |
16 and said to those who sold the doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house a house of merchandise.
| ואל מכרי היונים אמר הוציאו אלה מזה ואל תעשו את בית אבי לבית מסחר׃ |
17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for thy house will consume me.”
| ויזכרו תלמידיו את הכתוב כי קנאת ביתך אכלתני׃ |
18 The Jews therefore answered and said to him, What sign dost thou show us, seeing thou doest these things?
| ויענו היהודים ויאמרו אליו אי זו אות תראנו כי כזאת אתה עשה׃ |
19 Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
| ויען ישוע ויאמר אליהם הרסו את ההיכל הזה ובשלשה ימים אקימנו׃ |
20 Then said the Jews, Forty-six years was this temple in building; and wilt thou raise it up in three days?
| ויאמרו היהודים הנה זה ארבעים ושש שנה נבנה ההיכל הזה ואתה בשלשה ימים תקימנו׃ |
21 But he spoke of the temple of his body.
| והוא דבר על היכל גויתו׃ |
22 When therefore he had risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had spoken.
| ואחרי קומו מן המתים זכרו תלמידיו כי זאת אמר להם ויאמינו בכתוב ובדבר אשר דבר ישוע׃ |
23 And when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, at the feast, many believed in his name, when they saw his signs which he wrought.
| ויהי בהיתו בירושלים בחג הפסח האמינו רבים בשמו כי ראו האתות אשר עשה׃ |
24 But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he knew all men;
| והוא ישוע לא הפקיד את עצמו בידם על אשר ידע את כלם׃ |
25 and had no need that any one should testify concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.
| ולא הצטרך לעדות איש על האדם כי הוא ידע מה בקרב האדם׃ |
