John 2
1 And on the third day there was a marriage-feast in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there.
Trois jours après, on célébrait des noces à Cana en Galilée, et la mère de Jésus y était.
2 And both Jesus and his disciples were invited to the feast.
Jésus fut aussi invité aux noces avec ses disciples.
3 And they had no wine, because the wine of the feast had failed. Then the mother of Jesus saith to him, There is no wine.
Le vin ayant manqué, la mère de Jésus lui dit: Ils n'ont plus de vin.
4 Jesus saith to her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? My hour is not yet come.
Jésus lui répondit: Femme, qu'y a-t-il entre moi et toi? Mon heure n'est pas encore venue.
5 His mother saith to the servants, Whatever he saith to you, do it.
Sa mère dit à ceux qui servaient: Faites tout ce qu'il vous dira.
6 Now there were set there six water-pots of stone, in conformity with the Jews' custom of purifying, containing two or three firkins apiece.
Or, il y avait là six vases de pierre, destinés aux purifications des Juifs, et qui contenaient chacun deux ou trois mesures.
7 Jesus saith to them, Fill the water-pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
Jésus leur dit: Remplissez d'eau ces vases. Et ils les remplirent jusqu'au bord.
8 And he saith to them, Draw out now, and bear it to the master of the feast. And they bore it.
Alors il leur dit: Puisez maintenant, et portez-en au maître d'hôtel. Et ils lui en portèrent.
9 But when the master of the feast tasted the water that had been made wine, not knowing whence it was, but the servants who drew the water knew, he called the bridegroom
Quand le maître d'hôtel eut goûté l'eau qui avait été changée en vin — il ne savait pas d'où venait ce vin, mais les serviteurs qui avaient puisé l'eau le savaient bien, — il appela l'époux,
10 and said to him, Every man setteth on the good wine first, and when men have drunk freely, that which is worse. Thou hast kept the good wine until now.
et il lui dit: Tout homme sert d'abord le bon vin, et ensuite le moins bon, après qu'on a bu abondamment. Toi, tu as gardé le bon vin jusqu'à maintenant.
11 This beginning of the signs Jesus made in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
C'est ainsi que Jésus fit à Cana, en Galilée, le premier de ses miracles, et qu'il manifesta sa gloire; et ses disciples crurent en lui.
12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother, and his brothers, and his disciples; and they abode there not many days.
Après cela, il descendit à Capernaüm, avec sa mère, ses frères et ses disciples; et ils n'y demeurèrent que peu de jours.
13 And the passover of the Jews was near; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
La Pâque des Juifs était proche; et Jésus monta à Jérusalem.
14 And he found in the temple those who sold oxen, and sheep, and doves, and the money-changers sitting.
Il trouva dans le temple les marchands de boeufs, de brebis et de pigeons, et les changeurs qui s'y étaient installés.
15 And having made a scourge of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and poured out the money of the exchangers, and overthrew the tables;
Ayant fait un fouet de cordes, il les chassa tous du temple, ainsi que les brebis et les boeufs; il répandit la monnaie des changeurs et renversa leurs tables.
16 and said to those who sold the doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house a house of merchandise.
Et il dit à ceux qui vendaient les pigeons: Otez cela d'ici; ne faites pas de la maison de mon Père une maison de trafic.
17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for thy house will consume me.”
Alors ses disciples se souvinrent de ce qui est écrit: «Le zèle de ta maison me dévore.»
18 The Jews therefore answered and said to him, What sign dost thou show us, seeing thou doest these things?
Les Juifs, prenant la parole, lui dirent: Quel miracle nous fais-tu voir, pour agir de la sorte?
19 Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Jésus répondit: Détruisez ce temple, et en trois jours je le relèverai!
20 Then said the Jews, Forty-six years was this temple in building; and wilt thou raise it up in three days?
Les Juifs reprirent: On a mis quarante-six ans à bâtir ce temple, et toi, tu le relèverais en trois jours!
21 But he spoke of the temple of his body.
Mais il parlait du temple de son corps.
22 When therefore he had risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had spoken.
Aussi, quand il fut ressuscité des morts, ses disciples se souvinrent qu'il avait dit cela; et ils crurent à l'Écriture et à la parole que Jésus avait dite.
23 And when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, at the feast, many believed in his name, when they saw his signs which he wrought.
Pendant qu'il était à Jérusalem pour la fête de Pâque, plusieurs, voyant les miracles qu'il faisait, crurent en son nom.
24 But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he knew all men;
Mais Jésus ne se fiait pas à eux, parce qu'il les connaissait tous,
25 and had no need that any one should testify concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.
et qu'il n'avait pas besoin que personne lui rendît témoignage au sujet d'aucun homme, car il savait par lui-même ce qui était dans l'homme.
