John 18
1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples across the brook Kedron, where was a garden, into which he entered with his disciples.
Αφού είπε ταύτα ο Ιησούς, εξήλθε μετά των μαθητών αυτού πέραν του χειμάρρου των Κέδρων, όπου ήτο κήπος, εις τον οποίον εισήλθεν αυτός και οι μαθηταί αυτού.
2 And Judas also, his betrayer, knew the place; because Jesus often resorted thither with his disciples.
Ήξευρε δε τον τόπον και Ιούδας ο παραδίδων αυτόν· διότι πολλάκις συνήλθεν εκεί ο Ιησούς μετά των μαθητών αυτού.
3 Judas then, having received the band of soldiers, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with torches and lanterns and weapons.
Ο Ιούδας λοιπόν, λαβών το τάγμα και εκ των αρχιερέων και Φαρισαίων υπηρέτας, έρχεται εκεί μετά φανών και λαμπάδων και όπλων.
4 But Jesus, knowing all things that were coming upon him, went forth, and saith to them, Whom do ye seek?
Ο δε Ιησούς, εξεύρων πάντα τα ερχόμενα επ' αυτόν, εξήλθε και είπε προς αυτούς· Τίνα ζητείτε;
5 They answered him, Jesus the Nazarene. Jesus saith to them, I am he. Now Judas also, his betrayer, was standing with them.
Απεκρίθησαν προς αυτόν· Ιησούν τον Ναζωραίον. Λέγει προς αυτούς ο Ιησούς· Εγώ είμαι. Ίστατο δε μετ' αυτών και Ιούδας ο παραδίδων αυτόν.
6 As soon then as he said to them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
Καθώς λοιπόν είπε προς αυτούς ότι εγώ είμαι, απεσύρθησαν εις τα οπίσω και έπεσον χαμαί.
7 Again therefore he asked them, Whom do ye seek? And they said, Jesus the Nazarene.
Πάλιν λοιπόν ηρώτησεν αυτούς· Τίνα ζητείτε; Οι δε είπον· Ιησούν τον Ναζωραίον.
8 Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he. If therefore ye are seeking me, let these men go.
Απεκρίθη ο Ιησούς· Σας είπον ότι εγώ είμαι. Εάν λοιπόν εμέ ζητήτε, αφήσατε τούτους να υπάγωσι·
9 That the saying might be fulfilled which he spoke, “Of those whom thou hast given me, I have lost none.”
διά να πληρωθή ο λόγος, τον οποίον είπεν, Ότι εξ εκείνων τους οποίους μοι έδωκας, δεν απώλεσα ουδένα.
10 Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and smote the servant of the high-priest, and cut off his right ear. And the servant's name was Malchus.
Τότε ο Σίμων Πέτρος έχων μάχαιραν έσυρεν αυτήν και εκτύπησε τον δούλον του αρχιερέως και απέκοψεν αυτού το ωτίον το δεξιόν· ήτο δε το όνομα του δούλου Μάλχος.
11 Jesus therefore said to Peter, Put up the sword into the sheath. The cup which the Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
Είπε λοιπόν ο Ιησούς προς τον Πέτρον· Βάλε την μάχαιράν σου εις την θήκην· το ποτήριον, το οποίον μοι έδωκεν ο Πατήρ, δεν θέλω πίει αυτό;
12 So the band and the captain, and the officers of the Jews, took Jesus and bound him,
Το τάγμα λοιπόν και ο χιλίαρχος και οι υπηρέται των Ιουδαίων συνέλαβον τον Ιησούν και έδεσαν αυτόν,
13 and carried him to Annas first; for he was father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high-priest that year.
και έφεραν αυτόν εις τον Άνναν πρώτον· διότι ήτο πενθερός του Καϊάφα, όστις ήτο αρχιερεύς του ενιαυτού εκείνου.
14 And it was Caiaphas who counseled the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
Ήτο δε ο Καϊάφας ο συμβουλεύσας τους Ιουδαίους ότι συμφέρει να απολεσθή εις άνθρωπος υπέρ του λαού.
15 And Simon Peter and the other disciple followed Jesus. That disciple was an acquaintance of the high-priest, and went with Jesus into the court of the palace of the high-priest.
Ηκολούθει δε τον Ιησούν ο Σίμων Πέτρος και ο άλλος μαθητής. Ο δε μαθητής εκείνος ήτο γνωστός εις τον αρχιερέα και εισήλθε μετά του Ιησού εις την αυλήν του αρχιερέως.
16 But Peter was standing outside at the door. The other disciple therefore, who was an acquaintance of the high-priest, went out and spoke to her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.
Ο δε Πέτρος ίστατο έξω πλησίον της θύρας. Εξήλθε λοιπόν ο μαθητής ο άλλος, όστις ήτο γνωστός εις τον αρχιερέα, και ώμίλησεν εις την θυρωρόν, και εισήγαγε τον Πέτρον.
17 Then the maid-servant that kept the door saith to Peter, Art thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.
Λέγει λοιπόν η δούλη η θυρωρός προς τον Πέτρον· Μήπως και συ είσαι εκ των μαθητών του ανθρώπου τούτου; Λέγει εκείνος· Δεν είμαι.
18 And the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals, for it was cold, and were warming themselves; and Peter was standing with them and warming himself.
Ίσταντο δε οι δούλοι και οι υπηρέται, οίτινες είχον κάμει ανθρακιάν, διότι ήτο ψύχος, και εθερμαίνοντο· και μετ' αυτών ίστατο ο Πέτρος και εθερμαίνετο.
19 The high-priest then asked Jesus about his disciples, and about his teaching.
Ο αρχιερεύς λοιπόν ηρώτησε τον Ιησούν περί των μαθητών αυτού και περί της διδαχής αυτού.
20 Jesus answered him, I have spoken plainly to the world; I always taught in a synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews assemble, and in secret I spoke nothing.
Απεκρίθη προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Εγώ παρρησία ελάλησα εις τον κόσμον· εγώ πάντοτε εδίδαξα εν τη συναγωγή και εν τω ιερώ, όπου οι Ιουδαίοι συνέρχονται πάντοτε, και εν κρυπτώ δεν ελάλησα ουδέν.
21 Why askest thou me? Ask those who have heard, what I have spoken to them; behold, these know what I have said.
Τι με ερωτάς; ερώτησον τους ακούσαντας, τι ελάλησα προς αυτούς· ιδού, ούτοι εξεύρουσιν όσα είπον εγώ.
22 And when he had said this, one of the officers who was standing by struck Jesus on the face, saying, Is it thus that thou answerest the high-priest?
Ότε δε είπε ταύτα, εις των υπηρετών ιστάμενος πλησίον έδωκε ράπισμα εις τον Ιησούν, ειπών· Ούτως αποκρίνεσαι προς τον αρχιερέα;
23 Jesus answered him, If I spoke what is evil, testify to the evil; but if well, why dost thou strike me?
Απεκρίθη προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Εάν κακώς ελάλησα, μαρτύρησον περί του κακού· εάν δε καλώς, τι με δέρεις;
24 Annas therefore sent him bound to Caiaphas the high-priest.
Είχε δε αποστείλει αυτόν ο Άννας δεδεμένον προς Καϊάφαν τον αρχιερέα.
25 And Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, Art thou also one of his disciples? He denied and said, I am not.
Ο δε Σίμων Πέτρος ίστατο και εθερμαίνετο· είπον λοιπόν προς αυτόν· Μήπως και συ εκ των μαθητών αυτού είσαι; Ηρνήθη εκείνος και είπε· Δεν είμαι.
26 One of the servants of the high-priest, being a kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
Λέγει εις εκ των δούλων του αρχιερέως, όστις ήτο συγγενής εκείνου, του οποίου ο Πέτρος απέκοψε το ωτίον· Δεν σε είδον εγώ εν τω κήπω μετ' αυτού;
27 Then Peter denied again; and immediately a cock crew.
Πάλιν λοιπόν ηρνήθη ο Πέτρος, και ευθύς εφώναξεν ο αλέκτωρ.
28 Then they lead Jesus from Caiaphas to the governor's palace; and it was early. And they did not themselves go into the palace, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover.
Φέρουσι λοιπόν τον Ιησούν από του Καϊάφα εις το πραιτώριον· ήτο δε πρωΐ· και αυτοί δεν εισήλθον εις το πραιτώριον, διά να μη μιανθώσιν, αλλά διά να φάγωσι το πάσχα.
29 Pilate therefore went out to them, and saith, What accusation do ye bring against this man?
Εξήλθε λοιπόν ο Πιλάτος προς αυτούς και είπε· Τίνα κατηγορίαν φέρετε κατά του ανθρώπου τούτου;
30 They answered and said to him, If he had not been doing evil, we would not have delivered him up to thee.
Απεκρίθησαν και είπον προς αυτόν· Εάν ούτος δεν ήτο κακοποιός, δεν ηθέλομεν σοι παραδώσει αυτόν.
31 Pilate therefore said to them, Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said to him, It is not lawful for us to put any one to death.
Είπε λοιπόν προς αυτούς ο Πιλάτος· Λάβετε αυτόν σεις και κατά τον νόμον σας κρίνατε αυτόν. Είπον δε προς αυτόν οι Ιουδαίοι· Ημείς δεν έχομεν εξουσίαν να θανατώσωμεν ουδένα.
32 That the words of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying what kind of death he was to die.
Διά να πληρωθή ο λόγος του Ιησού, τον οποίον είπε, δεικνύων με ποίον θάνατον έμελλε να αποθάνη.
33 Pilate therefore went into the palace again, and called Jesus, and said to him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
Εισήλθε πάλιν εις το πραιτώριον ο Πιλάτος και εφώναξε τον Ιησούν και είπε προς αυτόν· Συ είσαι ο βασιλεύς των Ιουδαίων;
34 Jesus answered, Dost thou say this of thyself, or did others tell thee concerning me?
Απεκρίθη προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Αφ' εαυτού λέγεις συ τούτο, ή άλλοι σοι είπον περί εμού;
35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thy own nation and the chief priests delivered thee up to me. What hast thou done?
Απεκρίθη ο Πιλάτος· Μήπως εγώ είμαι Ιουδαίος; το έθνος το ιδικόν σου και οι αρχιερείς σε παρέδωκαν εις εμέ· τι έκαμες;
36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have fought, that I should not be delivered up to the Jews; but now is my kingdom not from hence.
Απεκρίθη ο Ιησούς· Η βασιλεία η εμή δεν είναι εκ του κόσμου τούτου· εάν η βασιλεία η εμή ήτο εκ του κόσμου τούτου, οι υπηρέται μου ήθελον αγωνίζεσθαι, διά να μη παραδωθώ εις τους Ιουδαίους· τώρα δε η βασιλεία η εμή δεν είναι εντεύθεν.
37 Pilate therefore said to him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest what is true; for I am a king. For this end have I been born, and for this cause have I come into the world, that I may bear witness to the truth. Every one that is of the truth listeneth to my voice.
Και ο Πιλάτος είπε προς αυτόν· Λοιπόν βασιλεύς είσαι συ; Απεκρίθη ο Ιησούς· Συ λέγεις ότι βασιλεύς είμαι εγώ. Εγώ διά τούτο εγεννήθην και διά τούτο ήλθον εις τον κόσμον, διά να μαρτυρήσω εις την αλήθειαν. Πας όστις είναι εκ της αληθείας ακούει την φωνήν μου.
38 Pilate saith to him, What is truth? And having said this, he went out again to the Jews, and saith to them, I find nothing criminal in him.
Λέγει προς αυτόν ο Πιλάτος· Τι είναι αλήθεια; Και τούτο ειπών, πάλιν εξήλθε προς τους Ιουδαίους και λέγει προς αυτούς· Εγώ δεν ευρίσκω ουδέν έγκλημα εν αυτώ·
39 But ye have a custom that I should release to you one at the passover: do ye desire, therefore, that I release to you the king of the Jews?
είναι δε συνήθεια εις εσάς να σας απολύσω ένα εν τω πάσχα· θέλετε λοιπόν να σας απολύσω τον βασιλέα των Ιουδαίων;
40 Then they cried out again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
Πάλιν λοιπόν εκραύγασαν πάντες, λέγοντες· Μη τούτον, αλλά τον Βαραββάν. Ήτο δε ο Βαραββάς ληστής.
