Joel 2
1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion; Sound an alarm in my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble! For the day of Jehovah cometh, for it is near!
তোমরা সিয়োনে তূরী বাজাও; আমার পবিত্র পর্বতে সিংহনাদ তোলো। দেশে বসবাসকারী সকলে ভয়ে কাঁপুক, কারণ সদাপ্রভুর দিন এসে পড়েছে। হ্যাঁ, সেদিন কাছে এসে পড়েছে—
2 A day of darkness, and gloominess, A day of clouds, and thick darkness. As the morning light spreadeth itself upon the mountains, There cometh a numerous people and a strong; Like them there have been none of old time, And after them there shall not be, Even to the years of many generations.
তা অন্ধকার ও নিরানন্দের দিন, মেঘের ও গাঢ় অন্ধকারের দিন।
3 A fire devoureth before them, And behind them a flame burneth; The land is as the garden of Eden before them. And behind them a desolate wilderness! Yea, nothing escapeth them.
তাদের সামনে আগুন গ্রাস করে, তাদের পিছনে আগুনের শিখা জ্বলে। তাদের সামনে দেশ হয় যেন এদন উদ্যানের মতো, তাদের পিছনে থাকে এক পরিত্যক্ত মরুপ্রান্তর— কোনো কিছুই তাদের কাছ থেকে রেহাই পায় না।
4 Their appearance is like the appearance of horses, And like horsemen do they run;
তাদের আকার অশ্বের মতো, তারা অশ্বারোহী সৈন্যদের মতো ছুটে চলে।
5 Like rattling chariots they leap on the tops of the mountains; Like the crackling flame of fire, which devoureth stubble; Like a mighty host set in battle array.
বহু রথের শব্দের মতো ধ্বনি তুলে, নাড়া গ্রাসকারী আগুনের মতো শব্দ তুলে, তারা পাহাড়ের চূড়ায় লাফ দেয়, তারা যেন যুদ্ধের উদ্দেশে শ্রেণীভূত পরাক্রমী সৈন্যদলের মতো।
6 Before them the people tremble, And all faces gather blackness.
তাদের দেখামাত্র জাতিসমূহ মনস্তাপে দগ্ধ হয়; প্রত্যেকের মুখ বিবর্ণ হয়ে যায়।
7 They run like mighty men; They climb the wall like warriors; They march every one on his way; They change not their paths.
তারা বীর যোদ্ধাদের মতো দৌড়ায়, সৈন্যদের মতো তারা প্রাচীর পরিমাপ করে। তারা সুশৃঙ্খলভাবে সমরাভিযান করে, কেউই তার স্থান থেকে বিচ্যুত হয় না।
8 One doth not thrust another; They march every one in his path, And though they rush among weapons, they are not wounded.
তারা একে অন্যের উপরে চাপাচাপি করে পড়ে না, প্রত্যেকেই সোজা চলাপথে অগ্রসর হয়। প্রতিরোধ ব্যবস্থা তারা ভেদ করে, কেউই তার লাইন ভেঙে ফেলে না।
9 They run through the city; They run upon the wall; They go up into the houses; They enter in at the windows, like a thief.
তারা নগরের মধ্যে দ্রুত দৌড়ে যায়, তারা প্রাচীরের উপরে দৌড়াতে থাকে। তারা ঘরবাড়ির উপরে চড়ে, চোরের মতো জানালা দিয়ে ভিতরে প্রবেশ করে।
10 The earth quaketh before them, And the heavens tremble; The sun and the moon are darkened, And the stars withdraw their shining.
তাদের সামনে পৃথিবী কম্পিত হয়, আকাশমণ্ডল কাঁপতে থাকে, সূর্য ও চাঁদ অন্ধকার হয়ে যায়, নক্ষত্রেরা আর দীপ্তি দেয় না।
11 Jehovah uttereth his voice before his army; For very great is his host; Yea, it is mighty, executing his word; The day of Jehovah is great, and very terrible; Who shall be able to bear it?
সদাপ্রভু তাঁর সৈন্যদলের পুরোভাগে বজ্রধ্বনি করেন; তাঁর সৈন্যসংখ্যা গণনার অতীত, যারা তাঁর আদেশ পালন করে, তারা পরাক্রমী বীর। সদাপ্রভুর দিন অতি মহৎ; তা ভয়ংকর। কে তা সহ্য করতে পারে?
12 Yet even now, saith Jehovah, Turn ye to me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning!
সদাপ্রভু ঘোষণা করেন, “তোমরা এখনই, তোমাদের সম্পূর্ণ মনেপ্রাণে আমার কাছে ফিরে এসো, তোমরা উপবাস ও কান্নার সঙ্গে, শোক করতে করতে ফিরে এসো।”
13 And rend your hearts, and not your garments, And turn to Jehovah your God, For he is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness, And repenteth of a threatened evil.
তোমাদের পোশাক নয়, কিন্তু তোমরা নিজের নিজের হৃদয় বিদীর্ণ করো। তোমরা তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর কাছে ফিরে এসো, কারণ তিনি অনুগ্রহকারী ও সহানুভূতিশীল, বিলম্বে ক্রোধ করেন ও সীমাহীন তাঁর ভালোবাসা। তিনি বিপর্যয় প্রেরণ করে দয়ার্দ্র হন।
14 Who knoweth but he will turn and repent, And leave a blessing behind him, Even a flour-offering and a drink-offering for Jehovah your God.
কে জানে? তিনি ফিরে আবার করুণা করবেন এবং পিছনে আশীর্বাদ রেখে যাবেন— ভক্ষ্য-নৈবেদ্য ও পেয়-নৈবেদ্য, তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর জন্য।
15 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion; Appoint yea fast; proclaim a solemn assembly!
তোমরা সিয়োনে তূরী বাজাও, পবিত্র উপবাস-পর্ব ঘোষণা করো, এক পবিত্র সভার করো আহ্বান।
16 Gather the people; appoint a congregation; Assemble the elders; Gather the children and the sucklings! Let the bridegroom come forth from his chamber, And the bride from her nuptial bed!
লোকেদের সমবেত করো, জনসমাজকে পবিত্র করো; প্রবীণদের এক স্থানে নিয়ে এসো, স্তন্যপায়ী শিশুদেরও এক স্থানে সমবেত করো। বর তার বাসগৃহ ও কনে তার নিবাস-কক্ষ ত্যাগ করুক।
17 Let the priests, the servants of Jehovah, Weep between the porch and the altar, And say, Spare thy people, O Jehovah, And give not thine inheritance to reproach, And to be a by-word to the nations! Why should they say among the nations, Where is their God?
সদাপ্রভুর সাক্ষাতে পরিচর্যাকারী যাজকেরা, মন্দিরের বারান্দা ও বেদির মাঝখানে ক্রন্দন করুক। তারা বলুক, “হে সদাপ্রভু, তোমার প্রজাদের নিষ্কৃতি দাও। তোমার অধিকারকে নিন্দার পাত্র হতে ও জাতিসমূহের মধ্যে প্রবাদের আস্পদ হতে দিয়ো না। তারা কেন জাতিবৃন্দের কাছে বলবে, ‘তোমার ঈশ্বর কোথায়?’”
18 Then will Jehovah be zealous for his land, And have compassion on his people,
তারপরে সদাপ্রভু তাঁর দেশের বিষয়ে উদ্যোগী হলেন এবং তাঁর প্রজাদের প্রতি দয়া করলেন।
19 Yea, Jehovah will answer, and say to his people, Behold, I will send you corn, And new wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith; And I will no more make you a reproach among the nations.
সদাপ্রভু তাদের প্রত্যুত্তর করবেন: “আমি তোমাদের কাছে শস্য, নতুন দ্রাক্ষারস ও তেল প্রেরণ করতে চলেছি, যা তোমাদের পরিতৃপ্ত করার জন্য পর্যাপ্ত হবে; আমি আর কখনও তোমাদের অন্যান্য জাতির কাছে নিন্দার পাত্র করব না।
20 I will remove far from you the northern host, And I will drive it into a dry and desolate land; Its van toward the Eastern sea, And its rear toward the Western sea. And its scent shall come up, And its ill savor shall come up, Because it hath done great things.
“উত্তরের সৈন্যদলকে আমি তোমাদের কাছ থেকে তাড়িয়ে দেব, তাদের এক শুকনো ও অনুর্বর দেশে নিক্ষেপ করব, পূর্ব সমুদ্রের দিকে তার সামনের ভাগ ও পশ্চিম সমুদ্রের দিকে তার পেছনের ভাগ নিক্ষেপ করব। তার দুর্গন্ধ উপরে উঠে যাবে, তার পূতিগন্ধ উঠতে থাকবে।”
21 Fear not, O land, exult and rejoice, For Jehovah hath done great things!
ওহে দেশ, ভয় কোরো না; আনন্দিত হও ও উল্লাস করো। সদাপ্রভু নিশ্চয়ই মহৎ সব কাজ করেছেন।
22 Fear not, O ye beasts of the field, For the pastures of the desert spring up, For the tree beareth its fruit; The fig-tree and the vine yield their strength!
ওহে বুনো পশুরা, তোমরা ভয় কোরো না, কারণ খোলা চারণভূমিগুলি সবুজ হয়ে উঠছে। গাছগুলি তাদের ফল উৎপন্ন করছে, ডুমুর গাছ ও দ্রাক্ষালতা তাদের ফলভারে সমৃদ্ধ হচ্ছে।
23 And, O ye sons of Zion, exult, And rejoice in Jehovah your God! For he giveth you the former rain in just measure, And causeth showers to come down upon you, Even the former rain, and the latter rain, as aforetime.
ওহে সিয়োনের অধিবাসীরা, তোমরা আনন্দিত হও, আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুতে আনন্দিত হও, কারণ তিনি তাঁর ধর্মশীলতায় তোমাদের অগ্রিম বৃষ্টি দান করবেন। তিনি তোমাদের কাছে প্রচুর বৃষ্টি প্রেরণ করবেন, পূর্বের মতোই প্রথম ও শেষ বর্ষা প্রেরণ করবেন।
24 And the threshing-floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.
খামারগুলি শস্যে পরিপূর্ণ হবে; ভাঁটিগুলি নতুন দ্রাক্ষারসে ও তেলে উপচে পড়বে।
25 And I will restore to you the years Which the swarming-locust hath eaten, The licking-locust, the consuming-locust, and the gnawing-locusts, My great army, which I sent among you.
“বছর বছর ধরে পঙ্গপালে যা খেয়েছে, তা আমি ফিরিয়ে দেব— অর্থাৎ বড়ো পঙ্গপাল, ও অল্পবয়স্ক পঙ্গপাল, অন্যান্য পঙ্গপাল ও পঙ্গপালের ঝাঁক— আমার মহা সৈন্যদল, যাদের আমি প্রেরণ করেছিলাম।
26 Ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, And praise the name of Jehovah your God, Who hath dealt wondrously with you; And my people shall never be put to shame.
যতক্ষণ না তোমরা তৃপ্ত হবে, তোমরা পর্যাপ্ত পরিমাণে আহার করবে, আর তোমরা তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর প্রশংসা করবে, যিনি তোমাদের জন্য বিস্ময়কর সব কর্ম করেছেন; আমার প্রজারা আর কখনও লজ্জিত হবে না।
27 Ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, And that I am Jehovah, your God, and none else; And my people shall never be put to shame.
তখন তোমরা জানতে পারবে যে আমি ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যবর্তী আছি, যে আমিই সদাপ্রভু, তোমাদের ঈশ্বর, আর কোনো ঈশ্বর নেই; আমার প্রজারা আর কখনও লজ্জিত হবে না।
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, That I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.
“আর তারপর, আমি সমস্ত মানুষের উপরে আমার আত্মা ঢেলে দেব। তোমাদের ছেলে ও মেয়েরা ভাববাণী বলবে, তোমাদের প্রবীণেরা স্বপ্ন দেখবে, তোমাদের যুবকেরা দর্শন পাবে।
29 Upon the men-servants also, and upon the handmaids, Will I pour out my spirit in those days.
এমনকি, আমার দাস-দাসীদেরও উপরে, সেইসব দিনে আমি আমার আত্মা ঢেলে দেব।
30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth; Blood and fire, and pillars of smoke.
আমি আকাশমণ্ডলে ও পৃথিবীর উপরে আশ্চর্য সব নিদর্শন দেখাব, রক্ত ও আগুন এবং ধোঁয়ার কুণ্ডলী দেখাব।
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the day of Jehovah cometh, The great and the terrible day. Then whoever calleth on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered;
সদাপ্রভুর সেই মহৎ ও ভয়ংকর দিনের আগমনের পূর্বে, সূর্য অন্ধকার ও চাঁদ রক্তবর্ণ হয়ে যাবে।
32 For upon mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, shall be deliverance, As Jehovah hath spoken; And among the remnant, whom Jehovah shall call.
আর যে কেউ সদাপ্রভুর নামে ডাকবে, সেই পরিত্রাণ পাবে; কারণ সদাপ্রভুর কথামতো সিয়োন পর্বত ও জেরুশালেমে, কিছু মুক্তিপ্রাপ্ত লোকের দল থাকবে; আর অবশিষ্ট লোকেদের মধ্যেও থাকবে, যাদের সদাপ্রভু আহ্বান করেছেন।”
