Job 9
1 Then Job answered and said:
१तब अय्यूब ने कहा,
2 Of a truth, I know that it is so: For how can man be just before God?
२“मैं निश्चय जानता हूँ कि बात ऐसी ही है; परन्तु मनुष्य परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में कैसे धर्मी ठहर सकता है?
3 If he choose to contend with him, He cannot answer him to one charge of a thousand.
३चाहे वह उससे मुकद्दमा लड़ना भी चाहे तो भी मनुष्य हजार बातों में से एक का भी उत्तर न दे सकेगा।
4 He is excellent in wisdom, mighty in strength: Who hath hardened himself against him, and prospered?
४परमेश्वर बुद्धिमान और अति सामर्थी है: उसके विरोध में हठ करके कौन कभी प्रबल हुआ है?
5 He removeth the mountains, and they know it not; He overturneth them in his anger.
५वह तो पर्वतों को अचानक हटा देता है और उन्हें पता भी नहीं लगता, वह क्रोध में आकर उन्हें उलट-पुलट कर देता है।
6 He shaketh the earth out of her place, And the pillars thereof tremble.
६वह पृथ्वी को हिलाकर उसके स्थान से अलग करता है, और उसके खम्भे काँपने लगते हैं।
7 He commandeth the sun, and it riseth not, And he sealeth up the stars.
७उसकी आज्ञा बिना सूर्य उदय होता ही नहीं; और वह तारों पर मुहर लगाता है;
8 He alone spreadeth out the heavens, And walketh upon the high waves of the sea.
८वह आकाशमण्डल को अकेला ही फैलाता है, और समुद्र की ऊँची-ऊँची लहरों पर चलता है;
9 He made the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, And the secret chambers of the South.
९वह सप्तर्षि, मृगशिरा और कचपचिया और दक्षिण के नक्षत्रों का बनानेवाला है।
10 He doeth great things past finding out, Yea, wonderful things without number.
१०वह तो ऐसे बड़े कर्म करता है, जिनकी थाह नहीं लगती; और इतने आश्चर्यकर्म करता है, जो गिने नहीं जा सकते।
11 Lo! he goeth by me, but I see him not; He passeth along, but I do not perceive him.
११देखो, वह मेरे सामने से होकर तो चलता है परन्तु मुझ को नहीं दिखाई पड़ता; और आगे को बढ़ जाता है, परन्तु मुझे सूझ ही नहीं पड़ता है।
12 Lo! he seizeth, and who can hinder him? Who will say to him, What doest thou?
१२देखो, जब वह छीनने लगे, तब उसको कौन रोकेगा? कौन उससे कह सकता है कि तू यह क्या करता है?
13 God will not turn away his anger; The proud helpers are brought low before him.
१३“परमेश्वर अपना क्रोध ठंडा नहीं करता। रहब के सहायकों को उसके पाँव तले झुकना पड़ता है।
14 How much less shall I answer him, And choose out words to contend with him?
१४फिर मैं क्या हूँ, जो उसे उत्तर दूँ, और बातें छाँट छाँटकर उससे विवाद करूँ?
15 Though I were innocent, I would not answer him; I would cast myself on the mercy of my judge.
१५चाहे मैं निर्दोष भी होता परन्तु उसको उत्तर न दे सकता; मैं अपने मुद्दई से गिड़गिड़ाकर विनती करता।
16 Should I call, and he make answer to me, I could not believe that he listened to my voice, —
१६चाहे मेरे पुकारने से वह उत्तर भी देता, तो भी मैं इस बात पर विश्वास न करता, कि वह मेरी बात सुनता है।
17 He who falleth upon me with a tempest, And multiplieth my wounds without cause!
१७वह आँधी चलाकर मुझे तोड़ डालता है, और बिना कारण मेरी चोट पर चोट लगाता है।
18 Who will not suffer me to take my breath, But filleth me with bitterness!
१८वह मुझे साँस भी लेने नहीं देता है, और मुझे कड़वाहट से भरता है।
19 If I look to strength, “Lo! here am I!” [[saith he, ]] If to justice, “Who shall summon me to trial?”
१९यदि सामर्थ्य की चर्चा हो, तो देखो, वह बलवान है और यदि न्याय की चर्चा हो, तो वह कहेगा मुझसे कौन मुकद्दमा लड़ेगा?
20 Though I were upright, yet must my own mouth condemn me; Though I were innocent, He would prove me perverse.
२०चाहे मैं निर्दोष ही क्यों न हूँ, परन्तु अपने ही मुँह से दोषी ठहरूँगा; खरा होने पर भी वह मुझे कुटिल ठहराएगा।
21 Though I were innocent, I would not care for myself; I would despise my life.
२१मैं खरा तो हूँ, परन्तु अपना भेद नहीं जानता; अपने जीवन से मुझे घृणा आती है।
22 It is all one; therefore I will affirm, He destroyeth the righteous and the wicked alike.
२२बात तो एक ही है, इससे मैं यह कहता हूँ कि परमेश्वर खरे और दुष्ट दोनों का नाश करता है।
23 When the scourge bringeth sudden destruction, He laugheth at the sufferings of the innocent.
२३जब लोग विपत्ति से अचानक मरने लगते हैं तब वह निर्दोष लोगों के जाँचे जाने पर हँसता है।
24 The earth is given into the hands of the wicked; He covereth the face of the judges thereof; If it be not He, who is it?
२४देश दुष्टों के हाथ में दिया गया है। परमेश्वर उसके न्यायियों की आँखों को मूँद देता है; इसका करनेवाला वही न हो तो कौन है?
25 My days have been swifter than a courier; They have fled away; they have seen no good.
२५“मेरे दिन हरकारे से भी अधिक वेग से चले जाते हैं; वे भागे जाते हैं और उनको कल्याण कुछ भी दिखाई नहीं देता।
26 They have gone by like the reed-skiffs; Like the eagle, darting upon his prey.
२६वे तेजी से सरकण्डों की नावों के समान चले जाते हैं, या अहेर पर झपटते हुए उकाब के समान।
27 If I say, I will forget my lamentation, I will change my countenance, and take courage,
२७यदि मैं कहूँ, ‘मैं विलाप करना भूल जाऊँगा, और उदासी छोड़कर अपना मन प्रफुल्लित कर लूँगा,’
28 Still am I in dread of the multitude of my sorrows; For I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
२८तब मैं अपने सब दुःखों से डरता हूँ। मैं तो जानता हूँ, कि तू मुझे निर्दोष न ठहराएगा।
29 I shall be found guilty; Why then should I labor in vain?
२९मैं तो दोषी ठहरूँगा; फिर व्यर्थ क्यों परिश्रम करूँ?
30 If I wash myself in snow, And cleanse my hands with lye,
३०चाहे मैं हिम के जल में स्नान करूँ, और अपने हाथ खार से निर्मल करूँ,
31 Still wilt thou plunge me into the pit, So that my own clothes will abhor me.
३१तो भी तू मुझे गड्ढे में डाल ही देगा, और मेरे वस्त्र भी मुझसे घिन करेंगे।
32 For He is not a man, as I am, that I may contend with him, And that we may go together into judgment;
३२क्योंकि परमेश्वर मेरे तुल्य मनुष्य नहीं है कि मैं उससे वाद-विवाद कर सकूँ, और हम दोनों एक दूसरे से मुकद्दमा लड़ सके।
33 There is no umpire between us, Who may lay his hand upon us both.
३३हम दोनों के बीच कोई बिचवई नहीं है, जो हम दोनों पर अपना हाथ रखे।
34 Let him take from me his rod, And not dismay me with his terrors,
३४वह अपना सोंटा मुझ पर से दूर करे और उसकी भय देनेवाली बात मुझे न घबराए।
35 Then I will speak, and not be afraid of him: For I am not so at heart.
३५तब मैं उससे निडर होकर कुछ कह सकूँगा, क्योंकि मैं अपनी दृष्टि में ऐसा नहीं हूँ।
