Job 8
1 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said:
Då svarade Bildad af Suah, och sade:
2 How long wilt thou speak such things? How long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
Huru länge vill du sådana tala, och låta dins muns tal hafva ett sådant högmod?
3 Will God pervert judgment? Or will the Almighty pervert justice?
Menar du, att Gud dömmer orätt; eller den Allsmägtige skall vrida rätten?
4 As thy children sinned against him, He hath given them up to their transgression.
Om dine söner hafva syndat för honom, så hafver han förkastat dem för deras missgernings skull.
5 But if thou wilt seek early to God, And make thy supplication to the Almighty, —
Men om du i tid gifver dig in till Gud, och beder den Allsmägtiga;
6 If thou wilt be pure and upright, Surely he will yet arise for thee, And prosper thy righteous habitation;
Och om du äst ren och from, så varder han uppvakandes till dig, och varder åter upprättandes boningen för dina rättfärdighets skull;
7 So that thy beginning shall be small, And thy latter end very great.
Och der du tillförene hafver haft litet, skall det härefter ganska mycket förökas.
8 For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, And mark what hath been searched out by their fathers;
Ty fråga de slägter, som i förtiden varit hafva, och tag dig före att fråga deras fäder;
9 (For we are of yesterday and know nothing, Since our days upon the earth are but a shadow; )
Ty vi äre såsom i går komne, och vete intet; vårt lif är en skugge på jordene.
10 Will not they instruct thee, and tell thee, And utter words from their understanding?
De skola lära dig, och säga dig det, och gifva sitt tal före utaf sitt hjerta.
11 “Can the paper-reed grow up without mire? Can the bulrush grow without water?
Icke kan säfvet växa, utan det står i vätsko; eller gräs växa utan vatten.
12 While it is yet in its greenness, and is not cut down, It withereth before any other herb.
Eljest, medan det än står i blomster, förr än det afhugget varder, förtorkas det, förr än man hö bergar.
13 Such is the fate of all who forget God; So perisheth the hope of the ungodly.
Så går allom dem som förgäta Gud, och de skrymtares hopp varder förtappadt;
14 His confidence shall come to nought, And his trust shall prove a spider's web.
Ty hans tröst blifver omintet, och hans hopp såsom ett dvergsnät.
15 He shall lean upon his house, and it shall not stand; He shall lay fast hold on it, but it shall not endure.
Han förlåter sig på sitt hus, och skall dock icke, bestå; han skall hålla sig derintill, och dock icke beständig blifva.
16 He is in full green before the sun, And his branches shoot forth over his garden;
Det grönskas väl förr än solen kommer, och qvistar växa uti dess örtagård;
17 His roots are entwined about the heap, And he seeth the place of stones;
Dess säd står tjock vid källor, och dess hus på stenar.
18 When he shall be destroyed from his place, It shall deny him, saying, 'I never saw thee.'
Men när han uppsluker honom af sitt rum, ställer han sig emot honom, såsom han kände honom intet.
19 Lo! such is the joy of his course! And others shall spring up from his place”
Si, detta är fröjden i dess väsende; och annor växa upp igen af stoftet.
20 Behold, God will not cast away an upright man; Nor will he help the evil-doers.
Derföre, si, att Gud icke förkastar de goda, och icke uppehåller de ondas hand;
21 While he filleth thy mouth with laughter, And thy lips with gladness,
Tilldess din mun varder full med löje, och dine läppar fulle med fröjd.
22 They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, And the dwelling-place of the wicked shall come to nought.
Men de, som dig hata, skola komma på skam, och de ogudaktigas boning skall icke blifva beståndandes.
