Job 8
1 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said:
Wtedy Bildad z Szuach odpowiedział:
2 How long wilt thou speak such things? How long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
Jak długo będziesz mówił takie rzeczy? [Jak długo] słowa z twoich ust [będą jak] gwałtowny wiatr?
3 Will God pervert judgment? Or will the Almighty pervert justice?
Czy Bóg wypacza sąd? Czy Wszechmocny wypacza sprawiedliwość?
4 As thy children sinned against him, He hath given them up to their transgression.
Jeśli twoi synowie zgrzeszyli przeciwko niemu, a on ich odrzucił za ich nieprawość;
5 But if thou wilt seek early to God, And make thy supplication to the Almighty, —
Jeśli zwrócisz się pilnie do Boga i będziesz błagać Wszechmocnego;
6 If thou wilt be pure and upright, Surely he will yet arise for thee, And prosper thy righteous habitation;
Jeśli jesteś czysty i prawy, wtedy na pewno obudzi się dla ciebie i poszczęści mieszkaniu twojej sprawiedliwości.
7 So that thy beginning shall be small, And thy latter end very great.
A [choćby] twój początek był niewielki, jednak twój koniec bardzo się rozmnoży.
8 For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, And mark what hath been searched out by their fathers;
Bo zapytaj, proszę, dawnych pokoleń i rozważ doświadczenie ich ojców;
9 (For we are of yesterday and know nothing, Since our days upon the earth are but a shadow; )
(My bowiem jesteśmy wczorajsi i nic nie wiemy, ponieważ nasze dni na ziemi są [jak] cień).
10 Will not they instruct thee, and tell thee, And utter words from their understanding?
Czy oni nie pouczą cię i nie powiedzą ci, i czy z ich serc nie wypłyną słowa?
11 “Can the paper-reed grow up without mire? Can the bulrush grow without water?
Czy sitowie urośnie bez wilgoci? Czy trzcina urośnie bez wody?
12 While it is yet in its greenness, and is not cut down, It withereth before any other herb.
Chociaż jeszcze jest świeża i nieskoszona, prędzej usycha niż inna trawa.
13 Such is the fate of all who forget God; So perisheth the hope of the ungodly.
Takie [są] drogi wszystkich, którzy zapominają Boga, i [tak] zginie nadzieja obłudnika.
14 His confidence shall come to nought, And his trust shall prove a spider's web.
Jego nadzieja zostanie podcięta, a jego ufność [będzie] jak pajęczyna.
15 He shall lean upon his house, and it shall not stand; He shall lay fast hold on it, but it shall not endure.
Oprze się o swój dom, ale się nie ostoi; uchwyci się go, ale nie przetrwa.
16 He is in full green before the sun, And his branches shoot forth over his garden;
Zieleni się na słońcu i w ogrodzie jego świeża latorośl wyrasta.
17 His roots are entwined about the heap, And he seeth the place of stones;
Jego korzenie są splątane wśród kamieni i wyrastają spośród nich.
18 When he shall be destroyed from his place, It shall deny him, saying, 'I never saw thee.'
Ale gdy go wyrwą z jego miejsca, wtedy miejsce to wyprze się go, [mówiąc]: Nie widziałem cię.
19 Lo! such is the joy of his course! And others shall spring up from his place”
Takie oto [jest] szczęście jego drogi, a z ziemi wyrosną inni.
20 Behold, God will not cast away an upright man; Nor will he help the evil-doers.
Oto Bóg nie odrzuci [człowieka] prawego, ale złoczyńcom nie poda ręki;
21 While he filleth thy mouth with laughter, And thy lips with gladness,
Aż się napełnią twoje usta uśmiechem, a twoje wargi radością.
22 They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, And the dwelling-place of the wicked shall come to nought.
Gdyż ci, którzy cię nienawidzą, okryją się hańbą, a namiotu niegodziwych [już] nie będzie.
