Job 8
1 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said:
| آنگاه بلدد شوحی پاسخ داد: |
2 How long wilt thou speak such things? How long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
| ای ایوب، تا به کی به این حرفها ادامه می‌دهی؟ حرفهای تو باد هواست! |
3 Will God pervert judgment? Or will the Almighty pervert justice?
| آیا خدای قادر مطلق عدالت و انصاف را زیر پا می‌گذارد؟ |
4 As thy children sinned against him, He hath given them up to their transgression.
| فرزندانت به خدا گناه کردند و او به حق، ایشان را مجازات نمود. |
5 But if thou wilt seek early to God, And make thy supplication to the Almighty, —
| ولی اکنون تو به درگاه خدای قادر مطلق دعا کن. |
6 If thou wilt be pure and upright, Surely he will yet arise for thee, And prosper thy righteous habitation;
| اگر آدم پاک و خوبی باشی، او دعایت را می‌شنود و تو را اجابت می‌کند و خانهٔ تو را برکت می‌دهد. |
7 So that thy beginning shall be small, And thy latter end very great.
| عاقبت تو آنچنان از خیر و برکت سرشار خواهد شد که زندگی گذشته‌ات در برابر آن ناچیز به نظر خواهد آمد. |
8 For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, And mark what hath been searched out by their fathers;
| از سالخوردگان بپرس تا از تجربهٔ خود به تو بیاموزند. |
9 (For we are of yesterday and know nothing, Since our days upon the earth are but a shadow; )
| ما آنقدر زندگی نکرده‌ایم که همه چیز را بدانیم. |
10 Will not they instruct thee, and tell thee, And utter words from their understanding?
| تو می‌توانی از حکمت گذشتگان درس عبرت بگیری و آنها به تو خواهند گفت که |
11 “Can the paper-reed grow up without mire? Can the bulrush grow without water?
| آیا گیاه پاپیروس می‌تواند خارج از مرداب بروید؟ آیا علف مرداب بدون آب نمی‌میرد؟ |
12 While it is yet in its greenness, and is not cut down, It withereth before any other herb.
| آیا در حالی که هنوز سبز است و آماده بریدن نیست پژمرده نمی‌شود؟ |
13 Such is the fate of all who forget God; So perisheth the hope of the ungodly.
| همچنین است سرنوشت آنانی که خدا را فراموش می‌کنند. امید شخص بی‌خدا ناپایدار است. |
14 His confidence shall come to nought, And his trust shall prove a spider's web.
| شخص بی‌خدا مانند کسی است که به تار عنکبوت اعتماد کند. |
15 He shall lean upon his house, and it shall not stand; He shall lay fast hold on it, but it shall not endure.
| اگر به آن تکیه نماید، می‌افتد و اگر از آن آویزان شود، آن تار او را نگه نمی‌دارد. |
16 He is in full green before the sun, And his branches shoot forth over his garden;
| او مانند گیاهی است که صبحگاهان تر و تازه می‌شود و شاخه‌هایش در باغ گسترده می‌گردند. |
17 His roots are entwined about the heap, And he seeth the place of stones;
| در میان سنگها ریشه می‌دواند و خود را محکم نگه می‌دارد. |
18 When he shall be destroyed from his place, It shall deny him, saying, 'I never saw thee.'
| ولی وقتی آن را از ریشه می‌کنند دیگر کسی آن را به یاد نمی‌آورد، |
19 Lo! such is the joy of his course! And others shall spring up from his place”
| و گیاهان دیگری روییده جای آن را می‌گیرند. چنین است عاقبت شخص بی‌خدا. |
20 Behold, God will not cast away an upright man; Nor will he help the evil-doers.
| ولی بدان که خدا نیکان را ترک نمی‌گوید و بدکاران را کامیاب نمی‌گرداند. |
21 While he filleth thy mouth with laughter, And thy lips with gladness,
| او بار دیگر دهانت را از خنده و فریادهای شادی پر خواهد کرد، |
22 They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, And the dwelling-place of the wicked shall come to nought.
| و دشمنانت را رسوا و خانهٔ شریران را خراب خواهد نمود. |
