< Job 5 >

1 Call now, see if any will answer thee! And to which of the holy ones wilt thou look?
“Kpọọ oku ma ị chọọ, ma onyekwanụ ga-aza gị? Ole ndị dị nsọ ị ga-agbakwuru?
2 Verily grief destroyeth the fool, And wrath consumeth the weak man.
Oke iwe na-egbu onye nzuzu, ekworo na-egbu onye na-enweghị uche.
3 I have seen an impious man taking root, But soon I cursed his habitation.
Mụ onwe m ahụla onye nzuzu ka ọ na-agba mgbọrọgwụ, mana mberede, abụrụ ụlọ ya ọnụ.
4 His children are far from safety; They are oppressed at the gate, and there is none to deliver them.
Ụmụ ya na-anọpụ anya site nʼebe nchebe dị, a na-azọpịa ha nʼọnụ ụzọ ama, ọ dịkwaghị onye na-anapụta ha.
5 His harvest the hungry devour, Carrying it even through the thorns; And a snare gapeth after his substance.
Onye agụụ na-agụ na-eripịa ihe o wetara nʼubi; ọ na-ewere ihe ubi ndị a ọ bụladị site nʼetiti ogwu; akụnụba ya ka onye akpịrị na-akpọ nkụ ga-achụso.
6 For affliction cometh not from the dust, Nor doth trouble spring up from the ground;
Nʼihi na ọnọdụ ọjọọ adịghị esite nʼala pupụta, ma ọ bụkwanụ nsogbu adịghịkwa esite nʼala walite.
7 Behold, man is born to trouble, As the sparks fly upward.
Kama, a mụrụ mmadụ nye nsogbu, dịka ire ọkụ si esite nʼọkụ a kwanyere na-amali elu.
8 I would look to God, And to God would I commit my cause,
“Ma ọ bụrụ na m bụ gị, m ga-ekpesara Chineke; ya ka m ga-akọsara ihe niile.
9 Who doeth great things and unsearchable; Yea, marvellous things without number;
Nʼihi na Chineke na-arụ ọrụ ịtụnanya karịrị nghọta, ọrụ ebube nke a na-apụghị ịgụta ọnụ.
10 Who giveth rain upon the earth, And sendeth water upon the fields;
Ọ bụ ya na-enye elu ụwa mmiri ozuzo, ma na-ezigakwa mmiri nʼubi niile.
11 Who placeth the lowly in high places, And restoreth the afflicted to prosperity;
Ọ na-ebuli ndị dị ala elu, na-emekwa ka ndị na-eru ụjụ nọ nʼebe a na-echebe ha.
12 Who disappointeth the devices of the crafty, So that their hands cannot perform their enterprises;
Ọ na-emebi nzube niile nke ndị aghụghọ, ka aka ha ghara imezu ihe ha zubere.
13 Who taketh the wise in their own craftiness, And bringeth to nought the counsel of the artful.
Ọ na-ejide ndị oke amamihe nʼaghụghọ ha niile, mee ka atụmatụ ndị aghụghọ bụrụ ihe e kpochapụrụ.
14 They meet with darkness in the daytime; They grope at noon as if it were night.
Ọchịchịrị na-abịakwasị ha nʼoge ehihie, nʼetiti ehihie ha na-asọ ìsì dịka ndị nọ nʼọchịchịrị nke abalị;
15 So he saveth the persecuted from their mouth; The oppressed from the hand of the mighty.
Ọ na-azọpụta ndị mkpa na-akpa, site na mma agha dị ha nʼọnụ, ọ na-anapụtakwa ha site nʼaka ndị dị ike.
16 So the poor hath hope, And iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
Ya mere, ndị ogbenye na-enwe olileanya, ikpe ezighị ezi na-emechikwa ọnụ ya.
17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth; Therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty.
“Ngọzị na-adịrị mmadụ ahụ Chineke na-adọ aka na ntị; ya mere, ajụla ịdọ aka na ntị nke Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile.
18 For he bruiseth, and bindeth up; He woundeth, and his hands make whole.
Nʼihi na ọ na-etihịa mmadụ ahụ ma na-ekechikwa ọnya ha; Ọ na-eti mmadụ ihe, ma aka ya na-agwọkwa.
19 In six troubles will he deliver thee; Yea, in seven shall no evil touch thee.
Ọ ga-anapụta gị site nʼụzọ nsogbu isii, mee ka ihe ọjọọ hapụ irute gị na nsogbu nke asaa.
20 In famine he will redeem thee from death, And in war from the power of the sword.
Ọ ga-echebe gị ka ị hapụ ịnwụ nʼoge ụnwụ; chebekwa gị ka mma agha hapụ ịmetụ gị nʼoge agha.
21 Thou shalt be safe from the scourge of the tongue, And shalt not be afraid of destruction, when it cometh.
Ị ga-abụ onye a na-echebe site na nkwutọ nke ire ndị ga-ekwutọ gị. Ị gaghị atụkwa egwu mgbe mbibi bịara.
22 At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh, And of the wild beasts of the land shalt thou not be afraid.
Ị ga-achị ọchị nʼoge ụnwụ na nʼoge mbibi, ị gaghị atụkwa egwu ajọ anụ ọhịa dị iche iche.
23 For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field; Yea, the beasts of the forest shall be at peace with thee.
Nʼihi na gị na nkume niile dị nʼọhịa ga-agba ndụ, gị na anụ ọhịa ga-anọkwa nʼudo.
24 Thou shalt find that thy tent is in peace; Thou shalt visit thy dwelling, and not be disappointed.
Ị ga-amata na ụlọ ikwu gị dị nʼudo; ị ga-agụkọ ihe niile i nwere chọpụta na o nweghị nke na-efu efu.
25 Thou shalt see thy descendants numerous, And thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
Ị ga-amata na ụmụ gị ga-adị ọtụtụ, matakwa na ụmụ ụmụ gị dị ukwuu nʼọnụọgụgụ dịka ahịhịa dị nʼala.
26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in full age, As a shock of corn gathered in its season.
Ị ga-aba nʼili gị mgbe i mere nnọọ ezigbo agadi, dịka ọka a ghọrọ mgbe oge ya ruru.
27 Lo! this we have searched out; so it is: Hear it, and lay it up in thy mind!
“Anyị enyochaala ihe a, hụ na ọ bụ eziokwu. Ya mere nụrụ ya, ma jiri ya rụọ ọrụ na ndụ gị.”
