Job 5
1 Call now, see if any will answer thee! And to which of the holy ones wilt thou look?
“इसी समय पुकारकर देख. है कोई जो इसे सुनेगा? तुम किस सज्जन व्यक्ति से सहायता की आशा करोगे?
2 Verily grief destroyeth the fool, And wrath consumeth the weak man.
क्रोध ही मूर्ख व्यक्ति के विनाश का कारण हो जाता है, तथा जलन भोले के लिए घातक होती है.
3 I have seen an impious man taking root, But soon I cursed his habitation.
मैंने मूर्ख को जड़ पकडे देखा है, किंतु तत्काल ही मैंने उसके घर को शाप दे दिया.
4 His children are far from safety; They are oppressed at the gate, and there is none to deliver them.
उसकी संतान सुरक्षित नहीं है, नगर चौक में वे कष्ट के लक्ष्य बने हुए हैं, कोई भी वहां नहीं, जो उनको छुड़वाएगा,
5 His harvest the hungry devour, Carrying it even through the thorns; And a snare gapeth after his substance.
उसकी कटी हुई उपज भूखे लोग खा जाते हैं, कंटीले क्षेत्र की उपज भी वे नहीं छोड़ते. लोभी उसकी संपत्ति हड़पने के लिए प्यासे हैं.
6 For affliction cometh not from the dust, Nor doth trouble spring up from the ground;
कष्ट का उत्पन्न धूल से नहीं होता और न विपत्ति भूमि से उपजती है.
7 Behold, man is born to trouble, As the sparks fly upward.
जिस प्रकार चिंगारियां ऊपर दिशा में ही बढ़ती हैं उसी प्रकार मनुष्य का जन्म होता ही है यातनाओं के लिए.
8 I would look to God, And to God would I commit my cause,
“हां, मैं तो परमेश्वर की खोज करूंगा; मैं अपना पक्ष परमेश्वर के सामने प्रस्तुत करूंगा.
9 Who doeth great things and unsearchable; Yea, marvellous things without number;
वही विलक्षण एवं अगम्य कार्य करते हैं, असंख्य हैं आपके चमत्कार.
10 Who giveth rain upon the earth, And sendeth water upon the fields;
वही पृथ्वी पर वृष्टि बरसाते तथा खेतों को पानी पहुंचाते हैं.
11 Who placeth the lowly in high places, And restoreth the afflicted to prosperity;
तब वह विनम्रों को ऊंचे स्थान पर बैठाते हैं, जो विलाप कर रहे हैं, उन्हें सुरक्षा प्रदान करते हैं.
12 Who disappointeth the devices of the crafty, So that their hands cannot perform their enterprises;
वह चालाक के षड़्यंत्र को विफल कर देते हैं, परिणामस्वरूप उनके कार्य सफल हो ही नहीं पाते.
13 Who taketh the wise in their own craftiness, And bringeth to nought the counsel of the artful.
वह बुद्धिमानों को उन्हीं की युक्ति में उलझा देते हैं तथा धूर्त का परामर्श तत्काल विफल हो जाता है.
14 They meet with darkness in the daytime; They grope at noon as if it were night.
दिन में ही वे अंधकार में जा पड़ते हैं तथा मध्याह्न पर उन्हें रात्रि के समान टटोलना पड़ता है.
15 So he saveth the persecuted from their mouth; The oppressed from the hand of the mighty.
किंतु प्रतिरक्षा के लिए परमेश्वर का वचन है उनके मुख की तलवार; वह बलवानों की शक्ति से दीन की रक्षा करते हैं.
16 So the poor hath hope, And iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
तब निस्सहाय के लिए आशा है, अनिवार्य है कि बुरे लोग चुप रहें.
17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth; Therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty.
“ध्यान दो, कैसा प्रसन्न है वह व्यक्ति जिसको परमेश्वर ताड़ना देते हैं; तब सर्वशक्तिमान के द्वारा की जा रही ताड़ना से घृणा न करना.
18 For he bruiseth, and bindeth up; He woundeth, and his hands make whole.
चोट पहुंचाना और मरहम पट्टी करना, दोनों ही उनके द्वारा होते हैं; वही घाव लगाते और स्वास्थ्य भी वही प्रदान करते हैं.
19 In six troubles will he deliver thee; Yea, in seven shall no evil touch thee.
वह छः कष्टों से तुम्हारा निकास करेंगे, सात में भी अनिष्ट तुम्हारा स्पर्श नहीं कर सकेगा.
20 In famine he will redeem thee from death, And in war from the power of the sword.
अकाल की स्थिति में परमेश्वर तुम्हें मृत्यु से बचाएंगे, वैसे ही युद्ध में तलवार के प्रहार से.
21 Thou shalt be safe from the scourge of the tongue, And shalt not be afraid of destruction, when it cometh.
तुम चाबुक समान जीभ से सुरक्षित रहोगे, तथा तुम्हें हिंसा भयभीत न कर सकेगी.
22 At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh, And of the wild beasts of the land shalt thou not be afraid.
हिंसा तथा अकाल तुम्हारे लिए उपहास के विषय होंगे, तुम्हें हिंसक पशुओं का भय न होगा.
23 For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field; Yea, the beasts of the forest shall be at peace with thee.
तुम खेत के पत्थरों के साथ रहोगे तथा वन-पशुओं से तुम्हारी मैत्री हो जाएगी.
24 Thou shalt find that thy tent is in peace; Thou shalt visit thy dwelling, and not be disappointed.
तुम्हें यह तो मालूम हो जाएगा कि तुम्हारा डेरा सुरक्षित है; तुम अपने घर में जाओगे और तुम्हें किसी भी हानि का भय न होगा.
25 Thou shalt see thy descendants numerous, And thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
तुम्हें यह भी बोध हो जाएगा कि तुम्हारे वंशजों की संख्या बड़ी होगी, तुम्हारी सन्तति भूमि की घास समान होगी.
26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in full age, As a shock of corn gathered in its season.
मृत्यु की बेला में भी तुम्हारे शौर्य का ह्रास न हुआ होगा, जिस प्रकार परिपक्व अन्न एकत्र किया जाता है.
27 Lo! this we have searched out; so it is: Hear it, and lay it up in thy mind!
“इस पर ध्यान दो: हमने इसे परख लिया है यह ऐसा ही है. इसे सुनो तथा स्वयं इसे पहचान लो.”
